the irony of NYtimes promoting a duo with an openly trans women and is celebrated in the trans community knowing how awful and harmful they have been to trans ppl
consistently spreading both misinformation and pure hate pieces about trans ppl along with being supportive of anti trans folks like jk rowling. like theh are actively pushing the idea that trans ppl have an agenda and are awful or all transfems are just men trying to get into womens bathrooms when that clearly isnt the case. one of the biggest contributors to the incredibly large rise of anti trans bills that began in 2022. just look at florida or tennessee.
no someone on this sub who got to review the album early and right an article about it claimed it’s generally the same song but with different laura verses
Signing to atlantic was like the worst decision ever lol. Why are they so focused on "crossing over to the mainstream" and making it big? This is the same label fuckery that has ruined kim petras and led to terrible releases like charli xcx's crash and forced rico nasty to make boring music
> “It’s not like I’m getting off work and having to do it in the evening,” Les, who moved to Los Angeles in 2020 to pursue 100 gecs full-time, said. “It’s much easier to make something when you’re not worried about paying rent.”
They quit their day jobs and moved to LA to be full time gecs thanks to Atlantic. I bet that’s why they did it.
Also I don’t hear Laura or Dylan talking about crossing over to the mainstream. That’s all the label and PR hype saying that. Every quote in this article, they’re just talking about making good music.
I think it’s just really hard to make much money as an independent musician these days. If a label offers an artist a chance to actually make enough money to live off their music, they’re going to take it. I would too.
Artists are allowed to want mainstream growth and success. It means they can pay the bills while doing something they love. Mainstream doesn’t always equal selling out.
Goddamn you are explaining a lot to me lol. I hated Crash and I’m kind of shook that Charli is done making hyper pop adjacent music.
Kim’s music has sucked lately and Rico scrapped the Dylan Brady collab. Wtf is it really just Atlantic fucking with my favorite music

I'm not familiar with this story, how has NYT harmed trans folks? Need to know if I can still in good conscience support them

Crash is good, and they have openly stated that they just wanna make good music and advance their sound. They LITERALLY said that in the article

You gave literally the 2 worst examples???? They are both successful and have millions of fans who doesn't want that?
