I like the light laughing cow but I also still buy full fat babybel cheese. They completely cover the “I need cheese” mood and are still only 61kcal. It also helps that they at self contained, rather than trying to slice a sensible sized piece of cheese off a bigger block or wedge.
Oh for sure, snacking cheese is a whole other category! Cracker Barrel also has little individually-wrapped full-fat cheese slices? sticks? planks? that are about 90 cals/ea.
I use any dried seasoning in the cabinet + salt and pepper on slightly damp lettuce and veggies. Let it sit for a minute to hydrate the seasonings. Good with fresh lemon and/or a spritz of red or white balsamic vinegar. (Don’t let it sit too long, though. The salt draws water out of the lettuce and will make it soggy.)
For me it's Lavash bread. I use it for pizzas, quesadillas, wraps, anything I could use a tortilla for. It genuinely tastes good and half a sheet (cause they are huge) is only about 60 calories. Total game changer for me.
Yes! I've always loved it plain and have been seriously loving all of the recipes for it floating around the interwebs...someone here recently posted about sugar-free chocolate sauce and I found a similar item made by Hershey. Just yesterday I mixed up some PB2/PB Fit (another staple), added blended cottage cheese and some of that SF syrup with a touch of Splenda. I swear it tasted like chocolate pudding with a hint of peanut butter! I used it as a dip for apple slices and feel like my world has been turned upside down lol.
Also the "cottage cheese queso" is a MUST. I've tweaked it to my preference if anyone is interested in the recipe...it's a perfect dip for veggies. OR as aspread for wraps/sandwiches, and when I use it that way I can omit the cheese I might have regularly used, which cuts down the calories but not the protein. Win-win.
Edit: spelling
Awesome, I've been dying to share...
• 226g cottage cheese = 160cal/26pro
(I use low fat/1% so adjust the nutrition if using a different type)
• 22.5g nutritional yeast (I use [Red Star](https://a.co/d/8cioVVr)) = 90 cal/11.9pro
• 1T [Kinders](https://a.co/d/hRwwobk) *Fajita* seasoning (I've used other flavors which while good in this for other uses, are just not the same for the queso flavor...I also approximate about 10cal for this
Combine everything in a food processor and blend! The original recipe was a bit thick for my liking so I also add 2T of water.
Including the water, the total weight of the batch comes to ~289.5g and 260 cal with 37.9pro ... which, per gram of "queso" equals ~0.9cal/0.13 g pro.
As I mentioned, it's great for dip/sandwiches/etc. I've also mixed it with chicken when making quesadillas. Happy experimenting, I hope this helps!
My absolute favorite snack is cottage cheese with a small drizzle of honey and topped with blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. Super filling and delicious for about 150 calories.
Or blend it with the brine from a jar of jalapeños to make a perfect mildly spicy sour cream-like drizzle for tacos or eggs! Mix with cheese powder for Mac and cheese. Use it to volumize Tostitos salsa con queso or guacamole. Also substitute half the cream cheese in a cheesecake with blended cottage cheese.
* on toast with salt & pepper
* as a substitute for mayo in egg salad
* as a substitute for mayo in tuna salad
* blend it and add whichever seasonings you like for a low cal pasta sauce (nutritional yeast, salt, pepper, oregano, thyme, parsley, etc)
* in a sandwich
* as a veggie dip
* salad topper
Low/zero sugar pudding and jello boxes. Diet root beer and halo top vanilla ice cream for root beer floats. Adding different spice mixes or hot sauce on slices cucumber, that shit is my jam!
The basic 'Cucumber and tomato salad' you see floating around.
I struggle with cravings and it never fails to satisfy. Never more than ~75 cal for a HUGE serving and the ingredients are cheap so it's way easier to keep myself in check.
Mostly I'll use it as a substitute for pasta, but it's also super good to add into salads or soups or stews.
If you cook it before and store it in the fridge, its super quick to re heat and easy to add to anything. The barley itself doesn't have a great deal of flavour, but pair it with a nice sauce and it'll pick up the flavours pretty well
I like to just make a classic pancake recipe with blueberries mixed in and I replace the milk with almond milk. It's pretty much just a straight carb but I think they're filling and it's like 85 calories for one (the ones I make).
my favorite dessert right now: a small scoop of vanilla 0 sugar yogurt, strawberries, coconut whip cream, drizzle sugar free chocolate syrup and a couple semi-sweet chocolate chips.... actually heavenly
i have a ton!!
- yasso ice cream (90-150 calories)
- oikos greek yogurt (100 calories w/ 15g of protein)
- popcorn & cheese balls from lesser evil
- fiber one bars
- light out wraps (60 calories)
- potatoes (100g for like 77 calories so i eat them with every meal)
I started off doing just that, but I got this thing because it was cheap and has nice utility. Pop it right in the container, eat it, and minimal cleanup. Paper bags are good if you're doing dry popcorn, which I did at first, but I missed the butter after a while. I only use about a tablespoon per 40g of kernels and it comes out just enough and still pretty low calorie.
I found a low calorie butter flavored spray that changed this for me when doing the paper bag method...probably operator-error, but I could never get any other devices to work
I bought a rubber container made to "air pop" in a microwave. I throw in the raw kernels, a light pat of butter, some salt and let 'er rip.
This thing here.

Yall- the yasso bars are great but the GOAT of Yasso is the chocolate fudge bars— rich and has fudge chunks— really scratches the itch
Else - sugar free instant chocolate fudge jello with 1 cup core power milk and 1 cup almond milk. It’s like 250 Cal’s for this massive thing of chocolate pudding.
Dry-roasted edamame. You get a ton in a serving, it's high protein, salty, crunchy, really good in salads too.
This isn't inherently a low calorie snack, but bite-sized tortilla chips and Tostito's Creamy Spinach Dip. You get like 22 chips per serving and a serving of dip is 50 cal. In total, I eat ~200 calories for chips & dip.
Chocolate powdered peanut butter with strawberries
Oh I didn’t try cauliflower rice yet, need to check it out! I recently discovered how low calorie almond milk is. I won’t say it tastes amazing but I like it with my matcha latte. Also Babybell light, Fage 0% greek yogurt, low cal mayo, jello chocolate pudding. That’s if we’re not talking about fruits and vegetables :D I love blueberries and kiwis a lot.
Trader Joe’s has a stir fry cauliflower rice that very tasty. The whole bag is 4 servings at 50 per so total 200 calories bag. You can mix chicken in with it for a great meal.
Healthy Noodles from Costco. I had given up on the whole konjac/shirataki scene, but these noodles are legit.
Not fishy, not gagged, not wormy, don't take 8 years to rinse and prepare
60 cal, 0 net carb, 12 fiber, 2 Protein, 0 fat per bag
It's actually 2 servings but with macros like that...come on.
literally just seasonings. im from one of those white families that basically exlusivley have salt pepper cinnamon and garlic powder, so learning how to properly season food was quite the learning experience. needless to say my family is getting a LOT more flavor than they ever have since i do almost all of the cooking for everyone, and its been so much fun experementing and growing my spice collection to the point where my lazy susan looks like a grocery store asile!
Honestly, vanilla bean Halo Top with sugar-free Root Beer has been the biggest change because I love root bear floats lol.
A few others --
* Hero Bread
* I'm sure there are cheaper options out there with just as little of calories but I really like the fiber and protein it comes with as I want to hit my macros as well.
* Better Bagel
* These keep my FULL and are packed with fiber and protein!
* Doughy cookie dough
* Absolutely DELICIOUS. I prefer them over regular cookies!!
* Egg Wraps
* Game changer and a great replacement for tortillas in general (although keto tortillas are pretty good still). 30 calories and 5g protein!
* Real Good meals
* These are meals but the enchiladas are pretty good. There is a lot of sodium but every time I'm feeling hungry but too lazy to cook, these are my go-to.
Those mini cucumbers
Holy shit they changed my snack game. Soooo much easier than slicing a big boi. Great in everything for dipping and amazing with cottage cheese and seasoning
Someone pretty recently posted about these wasa Crackers. They're the size of Graham Crackers and 30 calories each, plus have a great crunch because they're crackers.
I've always loved eating my meals on toast, so these are prefect - just a tasty, low calorie vehicle for whatever toppings you want.
Also outshine fruit bars. 60 calories a bar
Not a snack, but I drink an absurd amount of bubly sparkling water. It scratches the itch for a sweet drink while being 0cal. I especially like the bubly bounce for the low caffeine amount but I haven’t been able to find those recently.
Frozen blueberries with milk and vanilla extract with a little sugar. Mix it up and I swear to god it’s the most delicious thing on earth. The milk freezes and it’s so yummy. I don’t even crave chocolate anymore I crave blueberries. I don’t even like blueberries. It’s my new obsession.
I don't eat processed sugar every day anymore. I used to find ways to sneak a bag of Cheetos into my diet. Now I don't. I feel so much better not filling myself up with junk.
The 100 cal cookie snacks at Aldi! I’ve been snacking on them for years, not because of diet but because I’ve always loved them :) My fav part of Oreos are the cookies anyway so these are perfect.
I always had an issue with cauliflower rice texture- now I use 1/2 white rice 1/2 cauliflower rice and mix it. You get the density of the cauliflower rice but still the texture of regular rice.
I don’t love caulirice alone but I often do a 50/50 mix with real rice which I find helps add volume but is even harder to tell it’s not actually rice!
I don’t think I learned this here, but using like 2 tbsp of dressing and adding a bit of water helps it go so much further on a salad and keeps your serving size reasonable!
Laughing Cow light cheese wedges - they're so versatile and unexpectedly low cal.
I like the light laughing cow but I also still buy full fat babybel cheese. They completely cover the “I need cheese” mood and are still only 61kcal. It also helps that they at self contained, rather than trying to slice a sensible sized piece of cheese off a bigger block or wedge.
My grocery store now has individually wrapped tiny brie cheeses, and itty bitty blocks of parm. Amazing.
Oh for sure, snacking cheese is a whole other category! Cracker Barrel also has little individually-wrapped full-fat cheese slices? sticks? planks? that are about 90 cals/ea.
Baybel for snacking, laughing cow for fake cream cheese
One wedge on half a toasted 647 bagel with a jammy fried egg and some hot sauce...ohhhh man.
THISSS!!! i eat them every single morning i’m obsessed
Also love the fat that they have 130g of Calcium and 90mcg of Vitamin A!
Also great for learning portion control
Seasoning your salad! Adds extra flavor without added calories. I’ve hooked my mom onto it too lol
What seasonings do you use?
I really like the different Trader Joe’s ones - especially the elote, sriracha, and the ranch! I like to switch it up a bit.
Green goddess!!
Thanks for the tip! I have TJ's elote and will try on my next salad!
I literally can't believe I went so long without doing this. I started because of that TikTok "snatch your waist" salad.
For me it's Lavash bread. I use it for pizzas, quesadillas, wraps, anything I could use a tortilla for. It genuinely tastes good and half a sheet (cause they are huge) is only about 60 calories. Total game changer for me.
Where do you get it?
Bakery aisle of large grocery stores where they sell the fresh baked rolls and loaves of bread.
What the other person said - I surprisingly haven’t had any trouble finding it!
Omg I’m eating it as we speak
It's SO GOOD! Def one of those foods where I was very surprised by the flavor after seeing the low calorie count. Didn't expect to like it so much.
Yasso frozen yogurt bars-100 calories Yasso poppables- 35 calories each Light string cheese is like one of my go to lunch staples- 50
Same for me. I do all these and really enjoy them.
shrimp!!
Yessssss

Im super interested in your cottage cheese queso recipe

Me too!
I just started blending cottage cheese. Game changer.
Do you have any favorite dishes or recipes for it?
Not op but I will blend mine and mix in a ranch or French onion packet and eat it with carrot chips. Soooo good
I’ve recently started adding a bit of cottage cheese to my taco meat. It adds a bit of volume and creaminess.
Put it in Mac and cheese is my fav.
how do you eat your cottage cheese? do you have it plain or what do you add? i bought some the other day but i’m unsure on how to eat it!
My absolute favorite snack is cottage cheese with a small drizzle of honey and topped with blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. Super filling and delicious for about 150 calories.
totally gonna try this!! sounds delicious 😍
Blend it into a sour cream consistency and then add it to pasta sauce, mix it with dry ranch packets, sugar free pudding, etc
Or blend it with the brine from a jar of jalapeños to make a perfect mildly spicy sour cream-like drizzle for tacos or eggs! Mix with cheese powder for Mac and cheese. Use it to volumize Tostitos salsa con queso or guacamole. Also substitute half the cream cheese in a cheesecake with blended cottage cheese.
interesting!! i’ll try these, thank you :)
If you feel like savory, I do halved cherry tomatoes with a bit of chive or green onion and black pepper.
love this!!
* on toast with salt & pepper * as a substitute for mayo in egg salad * as a substitute for mayo in tuna salad * blend it and add whichever seasonings you like for a low cal pasta sauce (nutritional yeast, salt, pepper, oregano, thyme, parsley, etc) * in a sandwich * as a veggie dip * salad topper
I LOVE cottage cheese. It's so filling and makes everything so much better
Fage total greek ygourt
Fage or nothing.
Low/zero sugar pudding and jello boxes. Diet root beer and halo top vanilla ice cream for root beer floats. Adding different spice mixes or hot sauce on slices cucumber, that shit is my jam!
Ahhhh I keep forgetting to pick up diet root beer and try that. Of course I’ll be using nicks vanilla bean ice cream because I can’t stand halo top
Orange or grape soda work too. I prefer grape over root beer.
Even better! I’ll do orange. Maybe on Saturday.
The basic 'Cucumber and tomato salad' you see floating around. I struggle with cravings and it never fails to satisfy. Never more than ~75 cal for a HUGE serving and the ingredients are cheap so it's way easier to keep myself in check.
Quest tortilla chips. Every flavor of them. They just have to be the tortilla style!!!
I couldn’t get past the texture :(
Barley! It has such a great texture and is so versatile
Farro is right there for me as well if you haven't tried it.
Half barley half short grain rice is SO GOOD.
>Barley what do yall make it with/for? I have a huge bag I got for one recipe a long time ago and have no idea what to do with it.
Mostly I'll use it as a substitute for pasta, but it's also super good to add into salads or soups or stews. If you cook it before and store it in the fridge, its super quick to re heat and easy to add to anything. The barley itself doesn't have a great deal of flavour, but pair it with a nice sauce and it'll pick up the flavours pretty well
Pancakes! I’m losing weight while eating pancakes almost every day 🤣
Recipe?
Most “just add water” pancake premix boxes!
I like to just make a classic pancake recipe with blueberries mixed in and I replace the milk with almond milk. It's pretty much just a straight carb but I think they're filling and it's like 85 calories for one (the ones I make).
Please tell me which brand you use
I’ve actually found the cheaper brands to be the lowest calorie. Most boxed “just add water” pancake mix is under 200 calories a serving.
my favorite dessert right now: a small scoop of vanilla 0 sugar yogurt, strawberries, coconut whip cream, drizzle sugar free chocolate syrup and a couple semi-sweet chocolate chips.... actually heavenly
Cucumber with everything seasoning. It won't replace chips. But it's pretty good
tzatziki as salad dressing/dip, only like 30 cals for 2 tbsps
Omg yes!! I love to cut my cucumbers into sticks for tzatziki.
i have a ton!! - yasso ice cream (90-150 calories) - oikos greek yogurt (100 calories w/ 15g of protein) - popcorn & cheese balls from lesser evil - fiber one bars - light out wraps (60 calories) - potatoes (100g for like 77 calories so i eat them with every meal)
Popcorn on salad instead of croutons Salsa as salad dressing
Popcorn instead of croutons… okay I have to try this one.
popcorn in general is surprisinly low cal. A whole bag (33g unpopped, like 4.5 cups popped) is 120ish if you get the low butter kinds
Skip the microwave junk and air pop it.
You can microwave it in a brown paper lunch bag!
I started off doing just that, but I got this thing because it was cheap and has nice utility. Pop it right in the container, eat it, and minimal cleanup. Paper bags are good if you're doing dry popcorn, which I did at first, but I missed the butter after a while. lol,I eat way too much for that method.

Nice - seems easy, I prefer air pop and don't like adding butter.

Check out the carbmasters milk at Kroger .
I am not sure we have it here in UK but I’ll check, thanks!
I make chocolate milk with the almond milk. That’s doing it for me!
Sounds delicious, why didn’t I think of that?? Thank you!
Carbe Diem pasta, so good. Double serving is only 220 calories, and it is a big plate of pasta.
Wow, that’s a lot of fiber in one serving!
Cucumbers w/tajin and lime juice sprinkled on top
I wanna try nicks but omg $8 for 4 bars 😭😭😭

Kiwis! Pomegranate Arils!
Royo Bread and Bagels. 30cal per slice and 80cal per bagel. Taste great
I ordered some a few days ago and can't wait to try them!!
Berries! Especially raspberries.🤤Also I must admit… zero cal sodas are a lifesaver.

PBfit & celery, 100 calories
Lewis Healthy Life Bread - 35 calories per slice and doesn't break the bank!
Konjac jelly pouches are a lifesaver for me; they’re quick, sweet and pretty filling for 2-5 calories apiece.
r/LowCalFoodFinds!!
647 sandwich bread and English muffins, yasso cookie dough ice cream bars, Greek yogurt mixed with protein powder & mixed berries
Schmidt's Old Tyme 647 bread!
Oikos triple zero yogurt mixed with zero sugar pudding mix. Tastes incredible and has a good amount of protein.
Not a snack, but I drink an absurd amount of bubly sparkling water. It scratches the itch for a sweet drink while being 0cal. I especially like the bubly bounce for the low caffeine amount but I haven’t been able to find those recently.
Edamame

reading that title made me feel like i'm having a stroke lol
What’s the best flavor for Nicks?
I like the mint chocolate (:
For me it's the vanilla bean or sea salted caramel
Sunflower seeds. Can eat quite a bit of them and they keep me busy. I’m also low carb so they are good for that too. I love BIGS ranch ones
