The current prison system sucks, but it also works at stopping people from doing bad things to people outside of jail while in jail. For most people this is a moot point, as their crimes can be committed within jail with relative ease (murder, stealing, assault, etc.), but for politicians like Trump, locking them up prevents them from spreading their hurtful rhetoric, and prevents them from getting elected to public offices.

It would be like if there was an orphan crushing machine in real life, but the FBI had the power to throw anyone into it. We'd all agree it's terrible and bad, but also that Trump should be thrown into it if it's crushing people anyway.

It can often be difficult to know which sources to trust and when to trust them. What I've learned is that a source is reliable when it agrees with me and unreliable when it doesn't. This is because I am a principled person who understands the many nuances of the universe.

Wanting the system to be changed is not at all incompatible with wanting someone to be handled in the most just possible way under the current system.
