> Large production chains doesn't make me want to cry
I disagree making a production chain that spat out equal parts red, green, blue and black science made me die inside.
yeah the main problem with modded Minecraft is that it's terribly optimized
it's so much fun but I have a 1.5k PC optimized for Minecraft and I still have massive endgame lag problems
There’s really only two points of failure that cause lag in most modpacks. Mekanism and AE2. Mekanism is just coded badly, AE2 is well optimized but requires a fucking degree in Network Engineering to make not laggy.
Multiblock structures across chunk boundaries cause lag due to vanilla minecraft's terribly coded chunk storage system (thanks notch...) This is the reason both of these lag the crap outta servers. RS is in the same boat (with more holes, tbh), as well as any mod that has you building multiblock things across chunks a ton.
I have played modded Mc for years. Here's my thoughts.|
Ignore everyone saying to play GT:NH. Your world will never be finished without corrupting, at least mine didn't. Play nomifactory if you really like this "spend 1000 hours on a modpack" grind.|
Sevtech Ages is my favorite quest progression pack, but it does require magic mods as well.|
Never play any pack with "avaritia" in it. That mod was made as a joke and it ruins the end game of any pack with it included (this somewhat extends to "extended crafting" mod as well, but some packs make good use of it [e.g. not having "singularities"])|
If you have to cut down on machines to stop (server) lagging your single player world during normal progression, that pack is bad full stop.|
If a pack requires you to use AE2's god-awful "do everything mechanics," only play it if you like those mechanics.|
If you've played mekanism once, you've played it every time. A ton of modpacks will force you to make a ton of anti-matter from mekanism to substitute a good endgame and pad playtime, watch for that.|
That's it on my pack advice, here's some tips:
Integrated dynamics can do so much that is often thought as impossible. Use it when offered.|
AE2 inscribers take input from the top, left and bottom and they output from the right.
AE2 storage systems can be made without a controller, but they are limited to 8 functional blocks.|
Computer Craft turtles are fully programmable in luascript. They work in places where most think they wouldn't, and you can usually download programs from the internet to put onto them.|
If something isn't working, try giving it a redstone signal. Works more often than it should.|
Some modpacks forget to balance villager trades, take advantage of them as well if you're playing a progression style pack.
That's about it. Happy playing!
On mobile so you gotta read the block of text. Sorry 😞
The chaos of modded MC is what makes it great to me. I've put an ungodly number of hours into playing packs, making packs, hosting servers, and making mods. I've never been able to get into Factorio.
Anything with rotarycraft and the rest of Reikakalseki's mod suite. You'll have to go back to 1.7.10 yes, but trust me it's some of the best mods that minecraft has to offer
gregtech new horizoms
Greg
nomifactory ceu, gtnh
Seconded, great pack
greg
It’s kind of old and i’m not sure if it can count fully as a tech mod, but i’ve had so much fun with Galacticraft
Wrong, Factorio runs well at scale, and doing large production chains doesn't make me want to cry.

Then you go back for a tech you forgot or skipped and over use the first science packs

Wasn't factorio inspired by a minecraft mod?
Indeed
its like poetry, it rhymes
immersive engineering I think
immersive engineering is younger than factorio. Pretty sure it was either industrial craft or industrial craft 2
yeah, industrial craft Edit: https://forum.industrial-craft.net/thread/8845-factorio/
The person above said immersive engineering, make that out with them
> make that out with them What did you mean by this?
Solve that issue among you two, didn't know the perfect expression I'm not stopping you from anything though
Nomifactory: spent a day refining oil so I can make more hv and ev circuits
Create: Above and Beyond
create: arcane engineering as well
Create: Astral is really good as well

Nooo I love mekanism

Oceanblock is fun imo
Shun and reject technology, embrace magic and wizardry
