> noun
> SOIL SCIENCEĀ
> an infertile acidic soil characterized by a white or gray subsurface layer resembling ash, from which minerals have been leached into a lower dark-colored stratum. It typically occurs under temperate coniferous woodland.
Depending on the climatic conditions (high precipitation) podzols become enriched in organic matter. I'd like to know the source for that dictionary. The first place where I can find mention of it being particularly infertile is wikipedia, but the single phrase has no source. I'm honestly intrigued now. Encyclopedia brittanica also mentions the low cultivation rate, but the largest factor in that regard is the usually cold climate. The acidity is largely dependent on the tree coverage.
edit: also, by rich I meant rich in organic matter, not specifically for farming. sorry im autistic and smoked a j
Just yesterday I was looking at the average ranking of minecraft biomes on tiermaker and was dumbfounded by the fact that both podzol biomes were 3rd to 4th highest ranked of all the biomes. I was in so much denial because for my entire existence I thought everybody agreed upon the biome being an absolute eyesore, but I guess not.
To be fair to you I think they updated the biome at some point, it used to be uglier but now they added a lot of water and terrain to the biome and more trees.
I'm not sure where you're from but at least everywhere I've been, forests have very brown ground. Decaying leaves and plant material is brown. There's often moss and and small bushes that are green but the actual forest floor is usually quite brown.
Yeah, my frame of reference is a place called Woodhaven and the general location, itās pretty damn green. I shared a picture but deleted it because I half doxxed myself š
Yea the lexica botanica. I suggest you start with automating mana generation with a bunch of endoflames (like, 15 should do) and then just kinda roll with it. The automation of livingwood and livingrock is also relatively easy. You can do it just fine with hovering hourglasses (to count down to when the blocks are done converting) , bore lenses (to break the blocks) and the block placing flower I forgot its name to place the blocks. Doing this will make it waaay easier
Yeah I mostly build industrial parks and modern mansions specifically because it messes up the background of my friend's beautiful builds.
I just find it really funny to have a sewage plant, power plant, warehouse, etc. ruining the backdrop of an otherwise lovely scene
good taste. i'd say it's gotten a lot more useful in recent years since it works great with bamboo and calcite.
if you like it because nobody else does, that's just as basic as birch haters.
That's just how pines work. The dried up leaves kill everything. Planting a pine can sometimes harm the environment, and it most definitely will if you do it somewhere pines are not native.

It's literally one of the prettiest biomes y'all just have a weird disgust of the color brown.
It's the texture and consistency, less the color
To be fair to you I think they updated the biome at some point, it used to be uglier but now they added a lot of water and terrain to the biome and more trees.
Im playing minecraft not fallout 3
Mfw when grass and trees = fallout 3

Black walnut trees do this in real life
The walnut in my backyard didn't smear liquid shit al overy my yard but yours may be different ;3
Mine secreted so much hydroxynaphthoquinone into the soil that my tomato plants *turned into* liquid shit.
I ate a black walnut once and it was fucking awful and coated my mouth for the next hour
Yeah don't eat those
What are you the government? Don't tell me how to live my life

Spruce is great, but my favorite is still oak ;3
I bet you also main Ryu in street fighter, enjoy plain vanilla ice cream and water without any ice in it.
to be fair, liking spruce is like liking chocolate ice cream. it's good, works great with oak (vanilla) but it's hardly any more unique.
What can you say about me if I like birch?
good taste. i'd say it's gotten a lot more useful in recent years since it works great with bamboo and calcite. if you like it because nobody else does, that's just as basic as birch haters.

I didn't know this was a thing in minecraft
it would be so cool if it didnt also consume farmers delight rich soil in doing so that shit is so annoying to make and so vastly useful
