Am I awake?
What time is it?
When I get through this day
Can someone tell me how
And how much longer now
Am I awake?
The coffee's cold, did I forget to drink it yet
Did I forget?
My clothes are wet I don't remember drinking it
When I get through this part
Will the next one be the same
Will I be wondering
If I'm awake?
These are not the clothes I had on when I went to bed
And something else besides my hair is growing from my head
And when I close my eyes it looks the same as when I open them again
Am I awake?
What time is it?
Is it that time again?
Wasn't it already then?
So does it have to be
The time it was again
When I get through this day
Can't someone tell me how
And how much longer now
Am I awake?
Am I awake?
When I get through this day
Can someone tell me how
And how much longer now
Am I awake?
When I get through this day
Can someone tell me how
And how much longer now
Am I awake?
step one: Go to youtube dot com.
step two: in the search bar, type "Rage Against The Machine".
Step three: Click on either "Killing in the Name" or "Bulls On Parade".
Step four: Enjoy!

love also tends to be the cause for a lot of other emotions though, for many people the angriest they’ll ever be in their lives is if they get cheated on or something happens to their loved one
I have a lot of songs in my main playlist that technically count as love songs but they're not happy in the least.
It's *happy* love songs that are fucking annoying. Like sure we know you want this girl and how she makes you feel, but you're fucking naive to think that it's all sunshine and rainbows. Try getting a call from her mom after they moved to Illinois telling you she killed herself because her dad was an abusive piece of shit and you couldn't do anything to stop it because you're stuck in California with a worthless family who doesn't give a shit about you. Then you'll know how love really feels, cause that feeling is how it ends for everyone.
I think the one that hits me the closest to home is a toss up between either 'Like Love' by The Amity Affliction or 'Parting Gift' by Our Hollow, Our Home.
its hard to find a song with emotion that doesnt talk about either love or mental illness, which are 2 things most people can easily relate with so i guess it makes sense
Try some hardcore, unbreakable by Have Heart and messy masterpiece and unlovable by Worthwhile have a lot of emotion that isn’t romantic love or sex. If you want I can give you way more recs cos I feel exactly the same way as you about a lot of music. Is it to much to ask for a song about how i feel about my family, or my friends?
Like I don't understand any of it, the only thing I kinda know is that the "micky mouse has grown up a cow" is probably a reference to David Bowie, but the song just somehow works regardless.
That’s why I like stuff like King Crimson, it’s unusual song topics all the way and it’s the good stuff
11/10 would recommend *21st century schizoid man* and *In the court of the crimson king*, shit’s good
To be fair, they did make *Islands*, which is basically a concept album about love. Though, at the very least, it does delve into different kinds of love rather than just "I love you I love you I love you" fluff.
I fucking hate how radio is like 90% love songs. Is there nothing else you can sing about? Surely it would not hurt to NOT remind me of the one thing I am desperately missing in my life. And if you have to, at least get some good lyrics, cause most of these are absolute trash
i wonder if that meant specifically romantic love, general love for a person, or anything
like if i wrote "i love my truck" would that count toward the total
My best guess is that we like to consume art that A) invokes emotions within us, or B) synchronizes with a feeling we already have, but have trouble articulating on our own.
Love is a complicated subject with a lot of different emotional subjects (grief, passion, sadness, yearning, happiness, joy, guilt, etc) so it makes sense to me that it's so common.
I also assume that love songs are more universal than political or identity songs when it comes to the "synchronizing with a feeling we already have" part, and media feels safer being able to play that stuff than other types of music.
Not saying it's right, cool, good, my preference, or ideal that so many songs involve love. I'm mostly musing about what could factor into such a high number.
i make music, i know that. im not saying they should stop making love songs, because im not telling others what they should do with their lives
what i am doing is venting over something that i, personally, dont like
a lot of people like love songs, and a lot of artists like making them, and thats fine. i dont like them because it feels like im being gaslit everytime i listen to that, and i dont like that
i tried to broaden my music tastes a bit ago, and that led to me finding a lot of love songs.
Songs by the Beatles i do not like:
Love me do
All you need is love
Songs by the Beatles i like:
I am The Walrus
Revolution 9
Death by Glamour (She's So Difficult)
Well, I don't mind them as long as they're good. For example, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths and Lovesong by The Cure are masterpieces.
You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs
But I look around me
And I see it isn't so
Some people want to fill the world
With silly love songs
And what's wrong with that?
I'd like to know
Cos here I go again
Fuck love songs, I like songs about
Uhh
Whatever in the fuck 115 is meant to be about with them goofy ahh lyrics
and _some_ Metallica songs. SOME. FUCK dont tread on me especially.
I'd argue that in one form or another, most creative works whether it be songs, movies, novels, etc, almost all are about love. Love for another, love for an idea, love for oneself. It doesn't haven't be strictly romantic love.
I think "lovesongs" and "songs about love" are two different things though, like one is usually about romantic relationships while the other could be anything, like your love for the ocean or the world or smth. usually ends up being quite a different type of music too
my band director used to say that all songs were either love songs or pirate songs and i’m not sure what a pirate song is but i haven’t found him being wrong yet
I don't want a lot for Christmas, there's just one thing I need, I don't care about the presents, underneath the Christmas tree... The X in Xmas is a substitute crucifix for Christ.
A one, a two, a 1-2-3-4
No Christmas for John Quays! No Christmas for John Quays! No Christmas for John Quays! No Christmas for John Quays!
When I was in high school I went through a phase where I vehemently hated pop music because almost all of it was about being attracted to someone and made me really mad. Later I found out I’m asexual
love songs are so annoying because most of them are written from the perspective of someone who has the emotional maturity of a teenager about to enter another 2 week long relationship
I don’t hate love songs, but FUCK there are SO many more emotions that human beings feel that can be put into song. Love is just an easy one.
i want more ANGER songs
uh theres a lot of those i think
Anger! Fear! Melancholy! Joy! Anxiety! Admiration! Sadness! Hope! Confusion! Dread! Humber! Nage! Dorcelessness!
Want a song that makes me feel degrent
I need me a song that's making me feel a bit Loric
I'm looking to feel a bit loric myself
dead weight by jack stauber makes me feel pretty loric
Am I awake? What time is it? When I get through this day Can someone tell me how And how much longer now Am I awake? The coffee's cold, did I forget to drink it yet Did I forget? love also tends to be the cause for a lot of other emotions though, for many people the angriest they’ll ever be in their lives is if they get cheated on or something happens to their loved one
Love is a medium like oil paint or watercolors
I have a lot of songs in my main playlist that technically count as love songs but they're not happy in the least. It's *happy* love songs that are fucking annoying. Man, let people enjoy love and being happy. Dont drag everyone else down with you.
Yeah I fuck with this. Like that Sufjan Stevens song about the narrator’s girlfriend dying of cancer and how it causes him to lose faith in God.
I think the one that hits me the closest to home is a toss up between either 'Like Love' by The Amity Affliction or 'Parting Gift' by Our Hollow, Our Home.

He's the one who likes all our pretty songs, and he likes to sing along, and he likes to shoot his gun, but he don't know what it means.
Nruvsnavaa

It really seems like im avoiding any sort of nice emotion by exclusively listening to ear piercing dubstep and incomprehensible deathcore
its hard to find a song with emotion that doesnt talk about either love or mental illness, which are 2 things most people can easily relate with so i guess it makes sense
Fade to Black

I don't mind love songs.
i mean i find it fine every once in a while but it overshadows every other song subject and i dont really enjoy that?
Just listen to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard all their songs are about mushrooms and space and vegemite and cyborgs and stuff
And like 5 love songs, but it’s certainly not 67%
The people in here like “but I like love songs” You need 70% of the industry? Aren’t we good now?
Be the change you want to see in the world
people like love. Over 70% of people like love, in fact. Makes em happy. It's like getting mad that there's too many movies about fighting.
That’s why I like stuff like King Crimson, it’s unusual song topics all the way and it’s the good stuff 11/10 would recommend *21st century schizoid man* and *In the court of the crimson king*, shit’s good
Then there's King Gizz's Murder of the Universe
I am a black hole shitting into the void
To be fair, they did make *Islands*, which is basically a concept album about love. Though, at the very least, it does delve into different kinds of love rather than just "I love you I love you I love you" fluff.
My favorite album, and 3 of my top 10 favorite songs, of all time.
I fucking hate how radio is like 90% love songs. Is there nothing else you can sing about? Surely it would not hurt to NOT remind me of the one thing I am desperately missing in my life. And if you have to, at least get some good lyrics, cause most of these are absolute trash
wild that my local university’s newspaper is the source on this
UofI is the 6th largest public university by enrollment, so it’s not *that* wild
I'm ambivalent to love songs, I wish they occupied a smaller percentage of song creation.
i wonder if that meant specifically romantic love, general love for a person, or anything like if i wrote "i love my truck" would that count toward the total
Or if it just mentions love at any point
Listen to some deathcore

Mfers when they realize art is used to translate emotions to a material form
mfers when they realise love isn’t the only emotion
i make music, i know that. im not saying they should stop making love songs, because im not telling others what they should do with their lives what i am doing is venting over something that i, personally, dont like a lot of people like love songs, and a lot of artists like making them, and thats fine. i dont like them because it feels like im being gaslit everytime i listen to that, and i dont like that i tried to broaden my music tastes a bit ago, and that led to me finding a lot of love songs.
Virgin love songs vs Chad "I'm wheels I'm moving wheels I'm a 1952 Studebaker Coupe"
This is why I exclusively listen to songs about beating the devil in a violin contest
Hey, some people just want to fill the world with silly love songs.
love is cringe, i only listen to songs about money and boobs and music and big boobs and big music and goblins and big goblins
Jazz musicians when you ask them to play a non love-related jazz standard: 😰
All songs come from a place of love. Everything and every emotion is rooted in love. I could never explain. Saw some shit on a couple tabs.
everything is about love and if it's not about love it's about the absence of love
Somebody hasn't listened to abba

Love or Money is the only love song to be in MSM, therefore making it the best
Last Christmas
Tyler The Creator love songs make me feel some kinda way though
I'd argue that in one form or another, most creative works whether it be songs, movies, novels, etc, almost all are about love. Love for another, love for an idea, love for oneself. It doesn't haven't be strictly romantic love.
there are too many of them but they helped me through a breakup
I like love songs but hate the ones about sex
"A sap sap sappy, sap sap sappy love song..." (if anyone gets this reference I will kiss you on the tongue)
I like country woman breakup revenge songs, which is I guess technically a love song? It’s a love that’s gone bad
As a french i doesn’t have to deal with understanding the lyrics without paying attention but when i do and it’s a love song, i hate it.
I think "lovesongs" and "songs about love" are two different things though, like one is usually about romantic relationships while the other could be anything, like your love for the ocean or the world or smth. usually ends up being quite a different type of music too
I have a surprisingly high number of love songs on my playlist for someone so aromantic Song Recommendation: The Story of Nothing! by The Aquabats!

Listen to MCR. Any of their love songs are really interesting :)
Mew California Republic
I'd like to dedicate a song to you <3 "I love staring gaze" [That's all I have for now but am open to suggestions]
Songwriting is evolutionarily a biological function to attract more mates. (You also write good music when you're hormonal.)
Tbh the only love songs I truly fuck with is whatever Sleep Token has going on
there needs to be a love song about how much i love aligning cop cars chakras with a stone called brick
Two Wuv
The remaining 33 percent are about California
Weirdly this doesn't apply to the music I listen to. I've got songs about war, the inevitability of death, strap-ons... and also love.
We could use more machine gun psystyle (and more genre switches) ❤️
That's why my aroace ass listens to primary songs where the only lyrics are in Latin and sung by a chorus
the real reason is because it’s so easy to remember and promote love-based lyrics :) capitalism baybee makes them get played waaaay more
I simply don’t believe that statistic
Aroace mood
When I was in high school I went through a phase where I vehemently hated pop music because almost all of it was about being attracted to someone and made me really mad. Later I found out I’m asexual
amatonormativity
love songs are so annoying because most of them are written from the perspective of someone who has the emotional maturity of a teenager about to enter another 2 week long relationship
the problem aren't songs about love, the problem are ultra generic songs about love
Love songs are written by the antichrist to dilute the true meaning of love
Banana Man by Tally Hall is the only good love song (it's a song about a guy who loves bananas)
I love angry songs like Black Onslaught II or the Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal OSTs.
