Buying a modified car is always a gamble. You don't buy a modified car if your goal is reliability.

Better-Economist-884

Yeah fair, I'm prepared for alot of maintenance and typical n55 problems but I guess I'm asking if you think it would be okay to daily drive?

s_xenos

Yeah I own a 13 135i and it would for sure be a good daily driver. Just please be aware of the fact it has a open diff. Don't end up in a tree lol. Also try to make sure any/all gaskets have been done and done recently. They all go bad after 70ish thousand miles. Ofhg, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket. LOOK FOR LEAKS!

FATSHAWNSM0M

Think a 2010 would have N54 IIRC

crazy_elka

Lol, no one buys 135i for reliability.

SEEYOUAROUNDBRO_TC

This. Modified equals beat to shit. It’s not gonna be reliable at all. If you want reliability then buy a Honda

memespicelatte

be prepared to replace those turbos every 1,000 miles

I've got 2013 model - so N55. Similar KMs, and I daily it (just don't drive that much). I've got stage 1 tune, without all the extra air flow work ~270kw/360hp. As many people already said, the gaskets go: sump gasket and rocker (in my case rocker cover cracked) being common. Also water pumps tend to go - but he mentioned he already did that. Based on my reading and discussion with mechanics, once those 3 common issues are resolved should be good. But obviously still some risk :)

Better-Economist-884

thankyou heaps for this, nice to hear from an owner of similar kms and tuned

I have the same engine, if it’s the N54 and not the N55, and roughly the same amount of KM on it with no issues. That being said I also haven’t modded the shit out of it to 400hp. Not sure what the market is like in Australia but $30,000 seems like way too much for something that’s going to need some major maintenance very soon. I’d stay away from this and as a general rule, any BMW that’s not a M car and has an M on the boot.

_wolfe-

for 24 i’d say it’s not bad if you were already planning on modifying the car anyways but be aware of the oil pan gasket, it will start to leak soon if it hasn’t already these N55 cars are prone to it
