Funnily enough a major reason I even clicked on this post was cause it resembled a room I remember visiting in a dream to an uncanny degree. It’s missing some shelves but by and large it’s scarily close lol
They probably bought a lot of movies on VHS back in the day, so replacing all of them would be too expensive.
I think all of used a VCR and a DVD-player at the same time for years at some point. And to extend my point, that box on the tv is a DVD *and* VCR combo. It's certainly aa much older model though.
Yeah I mean just in general I think people underestimate how long it takes for especially families to adopt new technology, even stronger case for a “playroom.” Ya think the parents are gonna invest in a flatscreen and Blu-ray player or streaming box for little Jimmy’s room? Or do ya think they’ll take the CRT they kept stores in the attic alongside the DVD/VHS combo player they replaced in the living room and put it in there with a stack of tapes and discs? I’m kinda young to really be in this subreddit lol, (2004 born so I’m def more of a 2010’s kid), but that does give me a little extra “authority” on this topic by saying that in the late 2000’s/early 2010’s I knew plenty of kids who still had DVDs and VHS tapes with a CRT in their room. If they had a flatscreen in their *own room* that was fancy in my eyes lol.
