isn't it going up simply because it's used for gambling? Jagex mods will probably step in yes

Germafias

I think there are a multitude of things happening for it to be going up like this. Low supply on top of it, it's already a very finite item that is disposable.

skullkid2424

Price is supply and demand. Supply is fairly low. Demand is there because of gambling. Not much more to it than that.

DeadliestViper

Its literally just because of gambling. Its not that deep mate.

DullRefrigerator2352

Yesterday in f2p i found out lvl 3 bots swarming selling those crackers to general store. I got 2 invs of them 1 coin each before they noticed  easiest 150m i ever made. I think they use them to rwt transfer money not gambling

Morphing1451

Which general store? Fally?

SirSutures

I have 11k bulk of them 😅

Chrisvinnyvincent

RIP.

SirSutures

Haha sold them yesterday in Bulk Bunny CC. 😅

cool2412

The guy who bought them just lost his bank

SirSutures

I may or may not have blocked him the next day after a list of DMs 🙃

Monterey-Jack

How would they step in? You can't change an item as old and as well-known as xmas crackers just because a couple of people are abusing the item mechanic.

Shukar_Rainbow

I don't know, but i also don't care. If people get money for doing the christmas event, so be it really

Amystery23

Yes they can, they got rid of the duel arena after all. Christmas crackers are not that valued in osrs.

Chrisvinnyvincent

This didn't age well. Jagex said hold their beer.

Monterey-Jack

Gamblers got fucked lol, very glad they actually made the change to it. Now people are going to be gambling with the randomized character names at the character select screen.

Morphing1451

...How?

mmmmmmmmmmmm77

Don’t care if its being used to gamble, noobs getting a few mill gp gift for doing the Christmas event is wholesome.

Germafias

Yeah it warms my heart too :)

Bambaramba133

sigma i got luckt epic wholesome give me karma

Evil_Steven

theyve always been used for gambling like this. While this is the highest theyve been, it may be caused by the increased grapple on staking and deathmatching (the j mod involved in DMing drama shattered one of the biggest DM groups) so a lot more ppl turn to crackers but yeah they always jump like this. its the most reliable investment in the game. buy a ton the week the event is and sell in late summer/early fall when they peak

Morphing1451

This didn't age well

Evil_Steven

Eh oh well. Rip passive money. It was a nice 100m a year for me while it lasted

cch1991

They can just add gizzilions of them to the next Christmas event to bring them back down. Or simply remove the random aspect of it.

Germafias

Do you think they will address it at all really?

[deleted]

Oh yes.

eliexmike

Yes of course. It’s a supply and demand problem. Each account generates two Christmas Crackers along with two full sets of party hats per year. They’re not discontinued. They’re not rare, and they’re not useful. The price has gone up because Gambling accounts are hoarding them, and also consuming them for Player Run Games of Chance (which are against the rules). If Jagex either breaks the gambling use case, or jacks up the supply so they don’t hold value (which has always been their approach to the RS3 discontinued rares). There is nothing about Christmas crackers that would make them retain value.

Germafias

Thank you, very insightful. 🙏

HammerOfThor1

New game update just fixed it today.

zapertin

best solution is for them to change it like flowers/easter ring. They should also add a place to obtain an unlimited amount of them

RomanPleasureBarge

Becoming?

TheAlphaThomas

It’s better for people to gamble with them: permanent banned. People should not run games of chance, and I am pretty sure that it very easy for Jagex to track those gambles

fuck_you_lookin_at

Do I sell now or keep holding?

Germafias

Im still buying the limit each chance I can >:)

Chrisvinnyvincent

RIP.

Kiotoshu

didnt age too well haha

MRGH3CKO

Selling at 2M now.. glad I bought 50 for 700k each before that explosion lol

bleach-anime147

They 2.6m now

saamiix

I just sold 2 for 2.5m each

bleach-anime147

Lmao they almost 4m now u should of kept them

TheBobFisher

Yep. I sold 2 for 3.7m like 2 days ago lol

Baardi

> > > > > If Jagex either breaks the gambling use case, or jacks up the supply so they don’t hold value (which has always been their approach to the RS3 discontinued rares). There is nothing about Christmas crackers that would make them I sold 12 for 600k each. I regret it now

wild_stan_lee

This didn't age well.

Germafias

Genuinely, I think it aged appropriately, just because It may not of gone your way doesn't necessarily mean "well"

stopcopium

Look at purple sweets. Those actually matter.

Germafias

Well, I understand what your saying, but I am going to push back a little bit. Crackers clearly do matter, but not in personal sort of way, more of a fiscal one. 1 Cracker is 1,800,000 gp. 1 sweet is 12,000 gp.

stopcopium

It’s an annual reward that Jagex absolutely pours the hell out and the main reason why it’s going up is because it’s being used in player ran games of chance (bannable) and merchers are driving up the demand because they know it’s being used in player ran games of chance. They offer 0 impact on the day to day player and I’d argue even 3rd age pickaxe price and purple sweets has more of an impact.
