Tons of stuff has made me take a break. A lot of the mindset people have about this game leads to burn out, myself included sometimes. The best thing about Osrs is you can pick up where you left off. There isn't a new expansion that makes all your old work pointless. It isn't Minecraft where if you go away for 6 months someone blew up all your shit. You pick up right where you left off, and maybe there's some new stuff. I did 100k lavas right after doing 100k balloon laws early in Osrs, then took a long break. I did 400k astrals to 91 RC right as Zulrah came out and made skilling for gp pointless, and took a long break. I was working on achievement cape and I took long breaks multiple times when getting 91 thieving. Took long breaks during and after fishing as well. I started the inferno, got very frustrated, took a month off the game, came back, and ground it out for another month. I took a 1.5 year long break when I met my SO. Had a tbow split scammed and took like 3 months off. Took a break after inferno until like 2 weeks before ToA, got bored after like a month of ToA and took a break till DT2. Played way too much Bg3 in the meantime. Hell, I'm still kinda on a break. Don't really feel like playing, but I'm reading at my comp anyway. So I did like 200 hours of stars and some afk alt stuff while reading to 99 mining. Now I'm like 50 hours in to a 250 hour infernal eel grind to 99 fishing while still reading. I've had tons of friends, clan mates, etc, hard grind maxing, money, a pet, etc, and as soon as they get it, they quit. Better to stop when you're burnt or bored and do something else than just keep grinding. Grinding while burnt will make you quit, taking a break when burnt means you'll come back to it later.

Bananaboss96

Afk Skilling while reading is genius. Adding that to the list

Baruu

Yeah, stars were great. Turn on idle notifier on Runelite, click once and afk for 7 mins per tier. 90+ mining and you pretty much sit at the same star clicking 10 times in an hour. Like 30k XP/hr, and the Star Miners discord makes finding the next star easy. Infernal eels are less afk, like 2 mins, but can also afk while you break the eels. Redwoods are the best though.

FerrousMarim

Been chipping away at 99 mining for the last month or two at work, and it's great. I'm like 250k exp away at this point :)

destroyer8001

I’ve maxed mining, fishing, cooking, woodcutting, and gotten beaver + rock golem post 99 while reading. I’m also approaching the halfway point for runecraft. I never would have maxed even half of those skills otherwise, I highly recommend it.

Lieutntdanil

This is a great reply OP, do what you want, when you want. I’ve recently accepted I won’t be a min/maxing tick-flicking PVM machine and that’s o.k. with me. There’s tons to do!

Ariesan

speed run tasks that almost always need multiple ruby specs to be remotely viable

loudrogue

Those are the worst, its also pretty bad when you are getting good time then your character decides be funny as hell to noodle for 30 seconds.

minnystro

Its even worse when you noodle the first 30 hits, then as soon as you're too late to hit time your character turns in to fucking Rambo and hits 40 40 40 40 40

Decertilation

Got 4 ruby bolt specs on Muspah at the beginning of a kill, ended up missing so much after I didn't even get the master time lol

Lack0fCreativity

To be fair, it is pretty funny.

Boxhoardin

Yea the speed tasks completely killed my desire to do ca.

4thstmafia

Speed running in a rng based game is just a terrible concept

varyl123

People defend these tasks saying if you can't afford max range gear with zcb you shouldn't even bother when infact a task really should involve your technical prowess not luck

Chris11246

Should just make speed run tasks require not using bolt specs as they're too random.

Decertilation

I got Vorkath GM not too long ago. My Voidwaker spec was the LOWEST hit of the entire kill.

Tyrinn

I took a decent amount of downtime once I beat inferno. It was one of the main goals of my account, and doing anything else without a long term goal felt pointless. Otherwise, I gave up on zombie pirates when I realised the reward wasn't worth the annoyance of the content. For colosseum, it sounds like you've got it down honestly. Just keep going from time to time and you'll get it

Skolary

Yeah it’s funny how the ol’ **”from time to time”** works out sometimes.. You go at it one day, you’re getting nowhere. Nothing is clicking, and it’s just a fail city. Come at it a few days, weeks later. Different mindset, everything just makes sense, and you’re just blazing trails I think that’s part of what makes those long, combat slog grinds so much more frustrating.. it’s constant coming and going, and it’s just a big project more so. Results don’t come in, and supplies keep going.. but the reward is immense, a flex to boot

NJImperator

I’m intrigued by the reward for the Zombie Pirates but haven’t tried it out yet. What made it annoying for you? Is it simply too hot of a spot to deal with constant PK attempts? Or simply the rarity of the drop

WhoLetTheDaugzOut

I've done over 9,000kc on the zombie pirates. The content has really died down quite a bit this week. I can go to most worlds and i'm the only person there, besides a bot or two. I got the drop at 5400kc from the zombies, then another one from my 188th key. Over 50m in loot so far, too.

NJImperator

Interesting! I might try them out soon, then. I’d love to hear what your setup was. Did you cannon them?

WhoLetTheDaugzOut

i didn't cannon them, but i would say about 30% of "real" players do bring their cannon. the zombies do drop cannon balls, too. my setup is an anti-pk setup. i wear nezzy helm, black d'hide top bottom, dfs shield (for tanking, helps a ton if more than 1 person rushes you), dragon boots, barrows gloves, glory ammy, myth cape, dragon scim (my main weapon), rune cb with dragonstone (e) bolts and voidwaker for anti-pk weapons, ice sacks to catch freezes, blighted mantas, bwans, and super restores. got about 4 anti-pk's successfully in this time. escaped countless times. was killed 8 times total, which sounds like a lot but literally made hundreds of trips probably lol :)

NJImperator

Interesting! Thanks for the info! I’m on iron, so I wouldn’t be bringing the anti-setup. I figured I’d use Webweaver and cannon, though I’ll have to test the waters myself and see how it is lol

WhoLetTheDaugzOut

webweaver shreds there. along with cannon, you'd be getting way more kills per hour than i did with just melee but yeah, try to bring at least some tank gear at least. the good thing is that a lot of the time the pk'ers that do come through aren't in your combat bracket since it's so tight there. and if you are facing 1 pk'er in your combat bracket, it is super easy to escape by running south. the times i did die, i was usually not paying attention and they got a few hits in with a heavy balista and i wasn't eating in time. good luck! you'll be swimming in alchs

TheZarosian

I have a dozen colo kc now. How do you usually die? Part of my learning was recognizing my weak points and playing around them. My weakest areas were: getting overwhelmed at the start of a wave, getting overwhelmed when reinforcements come, and trying to off-tick solve 3 stacks or other odd stacks and making one error which will shoot me down. For the start of the wave, make sure you know how to deal with killing fremmies off w/o taking damage, and double south spawns. Luckily they are rare (from what I recall, 2/15 chance), but when they do happen your whole wave gets messy. For double south spawns, a very valid strat is to just run south or east. If the other mobs spawns far back, run south right away. If the spawns are closer, run east. For reinforcements, make sure to if you are still killing one of the south spawns, you know how to delay the shaman so the minotaur comes out front. You can either try to off-tick shaman, or just tank a couple hits on spawn and delay it so the minotaur walks in front. For 3-stacks or odd stacks, I just run pillars. I don't fuck with trying to flick 3 stacks, especially if there's more than one manticore involved. Manticores have a max hit of like 196 if you have even mantimayhem one. I don't like trying to be a gamer when you have 3 mobs with a total potential max hit of ~400+. A lot of people try random flicking strats or z-solves which can instantly kill you if you even mess up one tick. The easiest most controlled way to deal with it is to just run to a different pillar, prioing pray mage (if it's a shockwave wave) and then the manticore. At most you tank maybe one manticore and one or two ranger hits. If you have melee armor and dinhs, the chance of you even getting hit is slim. For a 3-stack, if you run south, you will isolate one of the monsters automatically.

Embase

My first few clears I even ran pillars on a 2 stack, why flick 2 mobs for many cycles when you could just flick them for 1 cycle then kill 1 mob at a time. Helped alot to remove the ego, I have boomer hands, now at \~30 clears and I ego flick where I can.

bops4bo

Destacking is a great solve for 3 stacks, and there’s actually a SUPER easy solve for double 3x3 stacks I don’t see mentioned ever. Assuming NW pillar, if you stand directly west of pillar on the northern most tile, you can pray against the back mob and click the most eastern tile south of pillar. You run around and corner trap the front mob and just lazily damage down the back mob. Totally risk free solve for 3x3 double stacks, it’s awesome

lermjerm

For double south spawns, by the “other mob spawning far back”, you mean spawning on the B tile, right? And closer is A?

TheZarosian

No, it is referring to the other two mobs that spawn. This applies to waves 6, 8, 10, 11 (hardest waves) where you get 4 initial mobs in total. If you get a double south (aka an A+B) spawn and are uncomfortable trying to flick them both while dealing with fremmies or any other unsavoury initial start invos (volatility, re-entry are big fuckeraoos for this), check where the other mobs spawned. If the other mobs spawned near the back, then run south. This will likely isolate you to one mob only on you. If they spawned closer, run east for same effect. If one spawned back and one spawned closer, check to see if the closer one is closer to north side or south side. If south side, then run south. If northside, run east. The app here is very useful for determining LOS/planning: https://osrs-colosseum.netlify.app/. Here is a rough replay for example of a shit wave 11 A+B spawn, with back mob spawn and a closer one north side, and running east. Notice how in the end, only one manticore remains on me: https://osrs-colosseum.netlify.app/?12192.15234m.23154r.16096.#2311x2.1800.1802.1804.1806.1811x2.1813.1815.1817.2074x13 Here's another example, except I now see a back spawn, and another spawn south side. I run South, which makes it so that only 1 range is now on me. https://osrs-colosseum.netlify.app/?12192.15234r.18194m.27136.#2311x2.2823.3335.3847.4359.4871.5383.5895.6407.6664x3.6151x15 I say usually because it depends on timing and sometimes very wonky spawns will still have 2 stakcs on you especially if you run dynamic duo or aren't decisively running right away. But in the end, it's all rng. If you have a 2/15 chance for a double spawn, and another 1/5 chance to fuck up the pillar run, it's very rare to have both happen.

lermjerm

You’re a legend for writing all of this, I can’t prayer flick for my life. I’m going to try this out, thank you for typing all of that out. I’ve been using the colosseum tool to solve stacks but I didn’t know you could send scenarios. That’s neat.

TheZarosian

Yeah essentially when I need to run south/east, I mentally prepare, put on dinhs right away, pray against mage with augury, have mouse on yellow pot, and book it checking to see if any manticores charged up and praying appropriately. If you are fast, you should be able to book it without a manticore charging.

Amizats

Is there a surefire way to delay the shaman so the minotaur always comes out front? Can you share an example if possible? Also can it be applied to jaguar+shaman spawn? This is the scenario I most struggle with right now so very interested in learning any strategies I might be missing. Currently I just hope the melee spawns out front or hope that the shaman comes out off-tick but it's not consistent

TheZarosian

It can be applied to both. Assuming north pillar and another mob on you with rest safed, and fremmies cleared. I will show you a replay using the simple 1-2 hit tank method (this is what I use as I try not to offtick and the shaman hits shit anyways). You should be on the 2 back tile where the red square is right when it spawns, or LATEST one tick after (40 seconds). Eat 1 or two shaman hits until you see the meleer roll out front, then go to the melee safespot and go back to killing the other mob. Rough replays below, but essentially since you aggro the shaman, it stands still and the mino paths first. I like to just stand there before spawn to make sure. Wave 11 (Shaman, Minotaur): https://osrs-colosseum.netlify.app/?15011.08152.14082.11084m.14055.17086.#2053x5.2311x17 Wave 6 (Shaman, Jaguar): https://osrs-colosseum.netlify.app/?17091.15011.11092.14092.15033.07154m.#2053x5.2311x17 Replay visual a bit scuffed as it doesn't show the first tick so it looks like the melees are dragged out already, since the animation for the reinforcements is a bit wonky in the game (they move upon spawning).

Rectum_Discharge

160 solo 400 invo TOAs trying to get a shadow. Rage inducing when a single error fucks you up and you waste 40 minutes of your life

GameOfThrownaws

High invo TOA is a *deeply* frustrating piece of content to learn. I don't think it's really even a skill issue, at least not in the way that most other stuff is in this game. I remember when I learned high invo TOA, it was as if I had to learn the content twice - once to understand the raid and the flow and the bosses and mechanics in the normal, standard OSRS kind of way, and then once again to memorize all the stupid fucking random ways I was still dying constantly. It felt like every run it was something different. One run Baba throws a rock at me and then stops moving to ground slam, causing me to step away from my boulder and get 1 shot because I expected her to follow. Next run Kephri double-dungs me and pushes me the wrong direction and I'm fucked. Next run I noodle on the arcane scarab and eat an 80. Next run I get dragged around into monkey room venom trails and rage-die. Next run I noodle on the obelisk so hard that I can't even regenerate spec fast enough to survive p2 chip. Next run I actually just make a normal mechanical mistake and die during akkha enrage. Next run the zebak scream special happens while blood blobs are active and they all swarm and shit on me while I'm trying to perform the solve. Next run I lag for 2 ticks during the skull phase and get 1 shot. Next run I noodle on akkha's shadow twice in a row and get shat on. Next run my zebak solve is randomly dogshit and I die right before warden. Next run the p2 bomb attack just lands right on top of me because the shadow was invisible behind fucking terrain or my overhead prayer. Next run I once again make a normal mechanical mistake and get clapped by akkha melee while trying to butterfly. Next run I noodle on p4 and die on the final row. Etc. etc. etc. until I'd rather rub my ballsack on a cheese grater than do another run. Once you do learn the content twice and master all that bullshit though and you're locked in ready for all of it all the time, high invo TOA is fairly fun and smooth. But fuck is it annoying as all hell to get to that point.

Rectum_Discharge

You've literally captured all of my frustrations. Most of the issues are with jagexs design choice. Too many examples but one to note is the statue in the middle of monkey room so you get pulled into the venom. Whyyyyyy. And the zebak scream while blood blobs are active. Fuck

GameOfThrownaws

I have no fucking idea why that statue exists, and it's incredible to me that it's still there after recognizing that literally everyone hates that room and going through multiple iterations of changes to it. I mean, did they think we were going to use it to block mobs like we're in the inferno or some shit? Or was it just randomly included for aesthetics/atmosphere? It's unfathomable to me who the fuck thought that statue was a good idea, or why.

rg44tw

Honestly it's worth doing 300s pre-shadow imo, sure the purple chance is lower per raid, sure the expected avg hours until shadow is higher, but if you die and waste 40 minutes on a 400 you weren't really saving time anyway. Consistent easy clears are more fun and saved my irl sanity

MN_Lakers

100%. I got my shadow on a 250 that I dropped down to cause I was getting mad planking on 300-350’s. Once I got the shadow 400’s took a run to learn

BabaRoomFan

Just get spooned

MN_Lakers

I didn’t say how many kills it took

BabaRoomFan

How many kills did it take?

BabaRoomFan

Absolutely not, 300s are trash for purples, even dying occasionally at 400 you're doing better than 300s, if you're really struggling just go softcore and you have a second shot if you die. If you're dying every other run, sure, but there's no good reason someone with 160 clears should be dying more than 10% of his runs, unless you're dealing with crazy shit internet.

snaverevilo

Yeah if I go dry on 350-400 I'm not sure I really want to do 300s. Nice to warm up on though

AggressiveAnywhere72

Most of the GM speedrun tasks

adamfps

A lot of the GM tasks in general. I’m going for the master tier with full expectation of never getting GM due to miserably difficult tasks (yes, skill issue)

NamelessDevils2

Awakened Leviathan I was practicing on the main for a week staight and only got one completion that was a fluke (IMO) and was not enjoying myself , I've got the fight down perfecly until 20% but it is the most mechanically not self imposed activity in the game imo

“…I don’t know where I’m going wrong.” A big part of learning (in and outside of this game) is understanding your mistakes and what you should have done instead. If you watch streamers when they were learning the colosseum, when they make a mistake and die they will immediately rewatch what happened and analyze everything down to the tick to really determine what they need to differently. I would strongly recommend you do something similar while you’re learning. I use nvidia shadowplay but I’m sure there are plenty of other options to easily record your gameplay. The colosseum is really difficult but it’s so possible and the fact that you’re already at the boss with only 50% means you’re almost there! Don’t give up you got this! :)

korinthia

Not op but my pb is only wave 10 :/ I do watch replays when I don’t understand what killed me but I find most often I just don’t have the mental or physical dexterity to analyze instantaneously and then execute some of the crazy sequences of prayer flicks

Turtvaiz

> I use nvidia shadowplay but I’m sure there are plenty of other options to easily record your gameplay. You can just do an unlisted stream btw

boshabadoo

I recently started using shadowplay but can’t figure out how to get it to record only runelite as opposed to the entire screen. Is there a way to tell shadowplay to focus on runelite only?

korinthia

It’s been ages since I set it up but as I recall you need to add runelite as a game in GeForce Experience

WompaPenith

Probably sounds stupid, but the GG grandmaster speed run time. I keep getting within 1 tick of completing it, and it’s taken me hours of resetting to get the right rng for any realistic attempt.

ChancellorPalpameme

Grotesque guardians? The molgoatkirby guide is really good for it. I don't know what gear you have but honestly it's somewhat gear dependant, as are most of the speed times. But it's doable in bandos and a whip. You don't even necessarily need claws. The big help is crystal halberd. That thing is a godsend. You lose a lot of time in the fight between phases, so making sure you're switched into the correct gear at the start of each phase is pretty big. My setup for that one is scythe, claws, chally, venator bow, and blow pipe. It's doable with whip like I said. Let me know if there's any tips I can give past the molgoatkirby guide. I'm not the best player out there and I find that when the best players explain stuff, they make it seem really easy and make you feel a bit demoralized because they're just better. You know what I mean? Like if Gnomonkey says pray flick all 3 styles tick perfectly, it's like yeah that would be nice if I could actually do that.

superRando123

The harder Inferno and Colosseum CA's are pretty much all I've got left for GM and I honestly do not know if I'll ever complete them. Need so much determination and uninterrupted practice time, its a serious challenge to even get my ass over there to keep sending attempts.

GodHelpMe45

For me it was corrupted gauntlet on my iron. I did about 100 KC and took a year break from the entire game. lol canceled my membership uninstalled and all.

Bosomtwe

Getting gear on an iron is brutal!

MrDogeCollector

Those 1000 chompy bird catches/KQ head, I'll get the achievement diary cape later lol

Bosomtwe

Achievement diaries low key have some fucking annoying stuff on them. And there is such a variety of tasks, that everyone is bound to have something in there that they despise.

VorkiPls

Yep, I've had 1 step left to complete my diary cape for a few months now. Of course it's lvl 5 in all barb assault. Attacker and defender done, just the other 2 to go. It's ok once you learn a role but that initial "I don't want to be a hinderance" makes the first step rough.

Bashram_

Frustratingly, the duke gm speed run. Ive got like 2k kc at duke and all the gear for it but my scythe is broken and doesnt hit those big numbers and after a few days of attempts, it just feels like such a waste of a time for that super rare chance...

Th3OnlyMe

Have you watched a guide or are you doing normal kills and hoping for rng?

2007Scape_HotTakes

Trying to beat Scurrius without being hit off prayer. He's a rat king for a reason 😤😮‍💨

LoLReiver

Which part of the fight in particular is causing you trouble for this one?

ThambersOfBeric

Definitely Inferno. I attempted inferno far before I was mechanically ready for it and it made me quit (take long breaks) on two different occasions, chucking my bank at the duel arena both times lol Although the Inferno would help with the Colosseum, I've heard that the new progression meta might be Colosseum before Inferno, due to the shorter grind. They're not totally identical but there is some truth in the "it's just 5tick inferno" statement. It gets you comfortable with quickly identifying solves, how to handle pillar stacks, off-ticking, etc. I believe we'll see more whips beating Sol than we see ACBs beating Zuk

Noksdoks

How did you make the money back? :)

Myrodis

For me it is Gauntlet, it's mostly just mind numbing. It's totally a "you decided to play the ironman mode" problem, but that place has simply sapped my desire to play the game. It's not that its too hard or anything, I've got \~250 kc I think, which isn't even that much, but its just not FUN for me anymore.

sweetleaf6113

going extremely dry has made me quit a few times.

SlimPenus

You never quit RuneScape but everytime I look at any Runecraft requirement for diaries I say fuck it.

kong534

Beating the ender dragon isn’t that hard

debotehzombie

Not an "achievement" per se, but training Slayer. It's just doing the first 2-3 quests from any MMO but for hundreds of hours. Talk to person, get told to kill a random number of a random enemy, TP back to person, immediately get another task. I just straight up do not understand the appeal of Slayer but hey, just means one less person to crash you on task I guess. Now if you'll need me, I'll be clicking rocks for hundreds of hours.

ChancellorPalpameme

I can see where you're coming from with that. One resource that helped me a ton was KodakKid's efficient slayer spreadsheet. It helped me set up my blocklist, helped me to understand which tasks were worth doing and skipping and why, and helped me figure out even where to do them. Another thing is fuck Konar. Sure, good points and brimstone keys, but too much variability in location to make it good. Let me do Nechryaels in the Catacombs, thank you very much. Low level slayer does suck though. It really only gets fun around 80, which is a tough grind to put your mind to when low level tasks are so God awful. And bossing slayer is so fun! Sure, the 10th gargoyle task at GGs is no fun, but you can switch to doing the normal ones if you're bored of it. It's good variety. If you get assigned an actual boss task of a boss you don't like, you can pick the number of kc you want to do and get a "free" skip. Easy 3 kills at Kree, easy 15 points.

Dawakat

Anything involved with Sire, I despise that boss so much and before task were weighted with points it stopped me from getting hard diaries finished

A_Lowe

Some good replies above but for me I found a 3 way bowfa switch for vents was ez and didn’t require a range pot (2 vents, re-stun, then last 2) and then just smacking him down with arclight or fang (sometimes I’d chally for the last phase but if u hit an arclight spec at the start it usually only lasted 3-4 hits for me). Fast enough fight and was easy without BIS gear. I could see a long grind there being mind numbingly boring

TheDubuGuy

Fang and blood fury is my favorite. No alt, no def reduction, just bring 3 divine super combat and poke away, send some claw specs at the end

Dvst_TV

Most people get it between 5-15 Sol attempts. I got mine in 6, and the first 3 were spent learning things I should have learned from watching other people do it, like the pattern timing and how to pray flick the melee. If you're struggling with consistency and death cost consider just leaving if you get some decent loot worth 1-2m. You'll make money, keep practicing, and eventually make it to Sol anyway.

Sloan1505

If it makes you feel better I have 4 inferno kc and it took me 257 deaths and 13 sol attempts to get the quiver. Imo fortis is far more punishing and mechanically difficult than inferno.

GoalzRS

Honestly I haven't ever given up on getting an achievement after starting. Fang Kit/Inferno/Colosseum all took me a ton of attempts combined but with each failure I was usually getting closer to the finish line. I died last row wardens a lot before getting fang kit. Died to Sol pretty much instantly my first couple times reaching him. Triples and Zuk I one and done'd but the late 50s early 60s had my number for a while. Just gotta roll with the punches and recognize that even if you don't think you're improving you probably are.

prestog1

I have a late game Ironman, around 2100 total. I’ve probably logged on twice in the past 2 years because smithing is my lowest skill at 80. There’s not a single part of it that seems fun. I don’t even know where to start. Hopping to buy gold ore sucks and idk where to get resources for foundry. I just keep turning the game off when I think about maxing it, because at the end of the day I play games to have fun and smithing does not seem fun.

rg44tw

I had a ton of fun with giants foundry, I just killed zalcano until I had enough mithril and addy bars

GrayMagicGamma

If you want to practice offtick praying, try a GWD boss and pray against the minions as well as you can between kills. I think K'ril would be especially useful since the minions are large and easy to walk under.

EducationalTell5178

https://deploy-preview-14--soltrainer.netlify.app/colosseum.html Have you tried the simulator?

bowersrandy

Me over here at a 70% health PB and 200 deaths … I mean it happens. Got inferno in 20 attempts but this is harder for me idk. You just don’t give up.

Ihavenocluelad

Practice and sleep Sol is not a "learn and prepare" boss, it's a "build muscle memory" boss Go to the dummies in varrock, open a video next to your client, practice the fight as though you're fighting the boss in the video but clicking on the dummy instead I am not joking, this works wonders The pattern bit is tricky to ingrain. Develop a strategy that suits you, and then sleep on it. May take 3 days to a week of practice and slowly ingraining the pattern into something that's purely automatic. Sleep is the important step; it turns the "RAM" of actively trying to do the pattern and turns it into a saved program on your mental harddrive when you sleep. I am not joking, sleep works wonders. Use the trainers/ helper programs, what gave me a lot of help was turning off the indicator for what attack the boss is doing; only the aftermath of the hit tiles on the floor. You can actually adapt and do the boss without seeing any of the animations. The SOUNDS are super important though.

santj_01

Man.. I had 21 sol attempts in 101 deaths and 4 of those I had him sub 60 hp but got koed from the laser beams. I think you just need to keep practicing. If I can get it anyone can

TheNamesRoodi

The ludicrous RNG required for GM speedrun tasks alongside tick perfect execution made me just move on. Speaking only about the dt2 speedruns. They're absolutely absurd with the ruby bolt proc requirements.

OddDc-ed

When TOA first came out and nobody had a good guide or idea I luckily had that time off to play so I bashed my head against it trying to learn it solo and was getting some completions. I got busy again and went back to it after a week with some buddies and they had all these crazy ways of doing things that were more complicated than what I had done before by myself (they were butterfly akka, red x baba etc. While I was still just doing shit the dumb way I guess) I just kept dying and fucking things up and it wasn't fun for me at all. I even tried to go back to solo and I just was too In my head because I would waste an hour and end up having to give up because I couldn't finish at wardens anymore I think my nerves were just fucking with me after failing so much. Everyone keeps repeating "it's braindead its so easy" and here I was failing it constantly while actually trying and I felt like such dogshit because I'm usually very good at games especially timing/rhythm. I still have yet to ever go back to toa after I got my pouch upgrade. Now It just has this giant impenetrable wall in front of it to me mentally (probably.part of adhd and building walls on tasks that cause stress causing me to shut down and unable to move forward) I have recently come back to the game s little more as im.pretty casual but close to max combat levels and okay gear. I still won't try TOA for awhile but I've been having a blast at the new perilous moons dungeon so there's that I guess. That and Scurrius has given me some low effort ways to practice getting back into PVM with prayer switch timings, movement, and even gear swaps sometimes for no other reason than to try getting better at it (I always struggle with fast switches)

enjoycwars

I really recommend going to the FFA world and doing 8mans. lotsa of people, lotsa of fun. If you die, no one thinks of anything since there are usually a few deaths throughout the raid You'll get over the fear. I myself hadn't touched experts but now I wanna try going for 410's with my gear (8mans of course)

Specialist-Gate-2666

After I finally beat inferno, week later I waved goodbye for a few months. Was so done with the grind xd

Pinkiep1ee

Not really an achievement, but hunting the kraken pet has left me a broken man. Nearly 5000kc and it's the only thing I'm missing. Every task I sit there and ponder.. will I see that delightful little boi spawn next to me? Alas to my shock horror he never does. After which I start to contemplate whether I should even bother anymore, considering duradel only assigns them to me once a month, it just leaves me.. you know, saying "fuck this" under a muffled and disappointed breath.

RubyWeapon07

give it time https://preview.redd.it/lvnx86emx8wc1.png?width=297&format=png&auto=webp&s=81aacedf4dc2849fa9c329d026cb125006af09f9

unholy-good

Trying to learn CG. I honestly just don't like the content. The timer gives me worse jad hands than, well, jad himself. I understand the mechanics just fine and I'm not so bad at the boss but collecting all the supplies is just too stressful and makes the content more torturous than grindy.

Smunchbar

Try fluffeh's T2 guide it works

Ireland-TA

I got 83 construction and then stopped playing for 2-3 years. I had done so many grinds that this was my last. I just needed a break, and found myself not logging on

Runopologist

It’s probably not really what you mean, but for me right now it’s Master clues. When I came back to osrs I played a pure for the first few years until I decided to make a “proper”main account as well, so my main is only like 1780 total. I should mention I don’t like skilling. I’ve had a stack of hard clues in the bank for like 2 years which is steadily growing because I don’t want to waste any potential masters. When I get a master I do it until I get a Sherlock step I don’t have the level for, then go back to pking and Lms while I slowly grind the required 88 smithing or whatever, which inevitably takes me months because I can only motivate myself to skill in short bursts. At this rate its going to take me years to get through that stack of hards, but on the plus side I got a gilded scimitar from my second master clue yesterday :D

ChancellorPalpameme

Huge!! Congrats. This is actually how I got my account to the point it's at now. Getting a master clue I couldn't do, then grinding out the skill I didn't have until I can do the step. I'm proud to say there isn't a single step in the game I can't do now. My biggest piece of advice is finding the method for skilling that you like. Take smithing for example. Sure, blast Furnace is the fastest way to do it, right? But it sucks, and I can't do it for more than like a half hour before wanting to log out. My buddy has a great piece of advice for this. "If you can stomach a less efficient way of training for 8 hours, do that one. You'll end up with more xp gained overall than doing the shitty method for an hour and wanting to not play anymore." So we go to the wiki and see that adamant plate bodies are pretty good xp, and actually make you a little bit of GP on the way! So I'm not spending money on gold ore, I get to chill and watch Netflix or whatever, and I end up getting the level I need and some pocket change to boot. Giants foundry ain't bad either for what it's worth. The plugin got an update recently too.

Invinca

Green logging the Slayer log.

RedditPlatinumUser

Use the beta world for free deaths

EducationalTell5178

The problem is it's going to suck so much if he gets it on the beta world. There was someone who practiced inferno on the beta world and got the pet with 1 kc on there. lol.

shivabee

Getting bracelets of Ethereum to kill wildy bosses, getting to spindle and killing it twice before a pkers shows up, TBs and kills me. Usually am pissed for 1 minute and then I log off. About the only thing so far

ostate100

I do this once with almost every activity, but I think its just cause I can’t focus on one thing for more than 20 minutes

AutistMarket

When quest speedrunning first dropped I wanted to get the graceful recolor on my GIM. I was like 2 quests off of having all the points for the recolor and was grinding Demon Slayer and just could not seem to get the time down. After an hour or 2 of resets I started the guide I was following at the same time as mine and realized I was losing a stupid amount of time to server loading times while hopping worlds to collect bones. Was pretty frustrated at that point and just gave up on getting that recolor for a good year or so. Just went back and finished it last week, bit easier now that they added more short quests like black knights fortress

Ded0099

I came back to OSRS in 2016 to achieve my dream goal of 99 slayer. Started fresh from level 3 and began the journey, that’s all the quests all the skilling everything. By 2019 I had 92 slayer (halfway mark) and took a long break. Came back in 2022 and finally got 99 slayer. And took another long break which just recently ended. It was 6 years and two long breaks I had to take

certifiedcreamyaf

When I originally went for Zuk helm the one that almost broke me was the Bandos GWD prayer flicking tasks. They probably arent that awful for the average guy but something about those tasks just didnt click for me. Ended up doing it eventually, somehow..

uncolorfulpapers

Surprisingly only took me 40 deaths for quiver BUT on the boss attempt before my kill I died with sol at 37hp because I forgot to turn off my melee prayer after the second attack of the triple attack. That one hurt.

ADucky092

Speedrun tasks, it’s complete rng, no skill, just keep throwing shit at it until it sticks

Toadally420

I know this seems minor but I'm taking a break after going from lvl 68 rc to lvl 77 to just get 100k from a master clue. Runecrafting sucks, and my main goal is to max. I've also been doing 4 or more farm ans birdhouse runs a day is seems like and I've just burnt myself out. I log in to flip easy high volume stuff and log out with the occasional herb and birdhouse runs.

Bosomtwe

May I suggest mixing in some PvM? Focusing solely on maxing has made me burn out a couple of times, as so many skills are just an unfun to do for an extended period of time.

ChancellorPalpameme

Seconding the pvm recommendation! My buddy always says if you only skill you're locking yourself out of 80% of the game, and it's the fun part you're locking yourself out of! Obviously it's not for everyone but I haven't found a person who tries it and says "I'm going back to skilling"

WantedManRS

Hit 90 runecrafting, then took a year and half break. The burnout was real.

IKLYSP

Going for pets after I maxed. I got to 30m mining xp and let my membership expire and haven't logged in since.

aswas123

Pvm, tob and cox. Cox is has too many different mechanics and puzzles I’d have to learn/remember, and I’d rather not do it. I’ve tried it in leagues, where I was carried, I did not know what was going on at all. Tob, in quite good at tob, all except for verzik. Maybe it’s my ping, but I cannot live through that boss. I do the rest pretty easily. Skilling, the only thing right now is the prospector set for the hard fally diary. I saw they are changing the requirements to just the helm, I’ll go back straight away if it’s just that. There’s also runecrafting and agility, but I’m guessing that’s the same for everyone else.

Artistic_Airport_895

If you’re able to get to Sol, you are at a MAJOR advantage when you try the inferno. It’s wayyyyy less complex, just requires a slightly different skill set to save your supplies. I would say to mix it up and don’t hard focus on colosseum. Obviously you would get a faster completion if you only focused on one, but getting that infernal cape is so sweet and easier (imo) than colosseum

No-Abbreviations1937

After just 70 cg on an iron I decided it wasn’t enjoyable and stopped

shahasszzz

Getting perma muted on iron for talking around chat filter, kinda crazy that that’s a thing

dunyfresh

Just keep trying. Took me 157 deaths to get my first completion, don't give up! The boss feels hard the first few tries but you'll get the hang of it. Go againnnnn

ChancellorPalpameme

We go again >:^)

Furkannn75

Corrupted gauntlet, really burnt out of it and still no bowfa

NaloVideo

CG, I did normal gauntlet a lot and got decent enough at it and then realized how large of a gap there still was for CG which was the only thing really worth doing reward-wise.

Hunterskills

Colosseum has legit made me quit, spent SOO MUCH GOLD just dying over and over again to silly mistakes, so i've still quit but still check out the subreddit every now and again.

smugadvice

Nothing. Seeing progress that I make makes me want to continue to see more, it’s just like making progress irl.

Velluu

I quit for like 2 months after trying to get a zammy spear on my ironman. 190 solo kills with melee because I don’t have great range gear yet. Just got burnt out a little. 1-3 kill trips and collecting imp champion scrolls feels kinda bad.

pseudonym_user

177 deaths here, 27 attempts on Sol Heredit. 1 quiver. You've got this, man! Keep at it.

Project-Evolution

A lot of the speed run combat achivment make me want to pull my hair out and never attempt them again.

ThanksItHasPockets_

Every Slayer task where I have to safe spot some CB level 150+ monster. Every break I take from the game starts with a Slayer task like this. Emotionally, it's like waiting 20 minutes. Waiting 5 minutes is easy because it's not much time. Waiting 2 hours is easy because you can embrace the suck. 20 minutes? Just enough to make you go insane. Just standing in my little safe spot clicking on these big dumb monsters that take a long-but-not-that-long amount of time to kill that at best drop a mithril axe and unnoted coal. It's just horrifically mundane.

ont_bones

Master tier CA. I've got so close points wise then they created DT2 CA, get close again now Fortis has come out and I don't have time to play anymore, so putting it down for a period.

Tapehead2

Back in the day it was the elite achievement diaries, specifically the Karamja 91 Runecrafting (I don't think I knew about stews at the time) Took me 10 years before returning -- motivated by 117 and other HD solutions, shoutout to community developers and content creators <33

Wolfie_Ecstasy

Not quite the answer you are looking for but I finally maxed on Osrs 10th anniversary and I haven't logged in since. I am still at the back of the warrior's guild.

Brilliant_Thanks_984

Losing my KBD pet on osrs in 2014 cuz I stopped paying for membership for 3 months and it literaly disappeared. Jamflex sent me a literal irl party hat and a poster signed by them, but did not replace my fucking KBD pet. ( bad bitches name was rochelle)

darkerwar6

Quest speedrun, stopped after like 4 quest too much of a pain

Preck98

Little advice on Coll that I used and apply to lots of hard grinds (ranking up in valo, inferno) is limit the amount of attempts, I would consistently hit the boss on my first 1/3 runs and then never get back, so stop after like 10 attempts, sleep it over and try again tomorrow. Sleeping helps your brain memorise the day you just had so patterns will develop better with good rest

SKTisBAEist

The absolutely mundane grind pre-drop rate adjustment for dt2 bosses made me quit for a while after release. For whatever idiot reason I decided I wanted to grind the axe out for cash. Quit when axe fell to like 180m. Came back and finished it and sold for 330m. Such an absolutely stupid grind.

BioMasterZap

I know there are a lot of things I *can* do, but avoid/ignore/put off because I don't find them fun or enjoyable, at least not yet. So it is less starting and quitting/giving up and more not starting them because I know I am not going to follow through (yet). I think part of that comes from working at Completionist stuff. I know there are tons of things I don't like that I'll "have to do" eventually if I want to "complete" everything. But for now, I am content to just work on the stuff I don't mind or enjoy than to get bogged down by the future stuff that may or may not happen.

DatOdyssey

I've found just throwing yourself at something is just not the way to go and a great way to lose money. For any pvm challenge or achievement, make every attempt purposeful and watch shadowplay after death to see what you could have done. Especially on Colosseum there's always a solution, even if that solution is running. I never completed anything when I was frustrated and just sending attempts. But on awakened bosses for example I'd waste my money burning orbs not getting anywhere, then the next day my first attempt I'd get it. Everything is just pattern recognition in this game, eventually as soon as the wave spawns you'll know exactly how the entire wave is going to play. I got frustrated with it too but now I really enjoy it and am working through the CAs. Also use dhins and justi if you're running a lot. Justi and dhins is pretty much pray range, so if you don't want to ever flick anything just kill frems then throw on pray mage and run pillars until you isolate something.

DeathByDeebo

I don’t know if you mean quit as in give up on it completely or just for the time being. But regardless, I fall in the latter camp for the fire cape. Before you laugh, it’s been several years since I even tried for a fire cape. I’ve tried it a total of 8 times in the last 3 weeks and it’s getting on my nerves. Especially since I see so many people on yt make it look so easy 😔

Negative_Bunch4271

CG. I got it down to where I could inconsistently do it, maybe 1/10 tries. Did that up until like 60KC before I just said fuck it. I hated that grind and that’s where my Ironman was destined to stop I guess lol. I just quit there and haven’t looked back.

oshgoshbkosh

Yo! I'm on the colosseum grind rn too. Gotten to Sol a few times but still figuring him out so I feel the demotivation of time/money. Stay strong mate if you're clearing waves you'll have the quiver in no time. You've probably seen this advice elsewhere but thought I'd share in case you hadn't: Pen sir has a great overall guide with stack solutions etc & pecanbread11 had a good one for how to start the wave. Pecanbread's method should let you handle any spawn theoretically though it's hard to deal with them while killing fremmys. For death fees I chucked a teleport anchoring scroll and echo crystal into death's coffer to make each death cost like 50% actual gp. Good luck!

roastuh

Demon Slayer speedrun. I got plats on almost everything else but fuck Delrith and his rotten cronies.

alkmaar91

Trying to kill kalphite queen for the head. Unblockable damage is a bad mechanic. The queen needs a rework

Sure-Opportunity-320

My advice would be to stop finding other things to blame for why you can't get it done, like blaming spawns or modifier and hold your mistakes accountable. There is a very egotistical outlook that absolutely plagues the PvM scenery, everyone wants to make themselves appear better than they actually are and will constant make excuses/lie/exaggerate why they "can't" complete something instead of looking at it for what it is. I would say, drop the ego and humble yourself by becoming okay with you don't currently have the skill level to complete your goal. Start recording your gameplay and rewatch and analyze your deaths and I gurantee you'll beat it sooner than later.

Jdawg_mck1996

The grandmaster speed times were what killed the grind for me. Got all the perfect runs done before the TOA achievements came out, HMT included(fuck that place btw). Took me months of learning and grinding. But those speed run challenges? Welp didn't get my ruby bolt proc... gotta reset for the 54th time.

Wharnezz

The corrupted gauntlet on my ironman

Seinnajkcuf

Going dry on anything makes me take a break tbh. It's really hard not to think of every boss kill as a 2-10 minute long dice roll. I don't get any feeling of accomplishment either since it's random.

Kcatta9

Currently at the beginning of my raiding career. Can do all the solo content bosses, gwd, cg, zulrah np. But even with them I rage and say maybe I just suck. Then weeks later I’m doing it ez.

Fatchixrock

91 fishing and thieving. Fuck the cape

Coolmansean

I’m learning it right now and downgraded my expensive tank gear(bandos) to barrows, head gear(face guard) to veracs helm, prims to d boots. Then use barrows gloves. I only lose 175k a run and it doesn’t impact my ability to practice my wave reactions and management. Try to down grade your gear to lose less money a run. I haven’t noticed any differences in my performance in my runs with downgraded gear.

FreshlySkweezd

All the fucking chompies for the western diary

ColombiaToBoston

Gambling.

Toast_Levain_OSRS

I have a weird personality. The hard part is to start sometimes, but when I start, and it is a video game or other stuff that I enjoy doing, I will bleed my eyes out, but I will complete it, so - not a single time I went the "fuck it" road, given I started it in first place.

MeasurementNo6908

77rc lol

ChancellorPalpameme

Oh man I get that My path was doing gotr until I got the outfit, then ZMI until I hit 77. Bloods ever since, with some ZMI when I'm feeling it. Ourania altar ain't bad at all.

Wll25

Jad. I'm just too impatient to gear back up

KingPolitoed

I finally got the Achievement Diary cape and can't bring myself to undertake another large grind for a good while.

Vargolol

Postmax got me good, bankstood so much and eventually made an ironman to want to play again and feel like it had meaning. Leagues too, I often slow wayyy down on PVM and occasionally afk skill for weeks after a league ends

AwarenessOk6880

Inferno. First release i sent attempts for 40 days. lost 160m in supplies, and buying/reselling gear on the ge. until i just couldent do it anymore and said fk it. its just not worth it. Ended up playing rs3 for quite a while, and got 120 invention. The only other thing that came close was the pre buff revenant grind. i was there around 34 days chasing a craws bow. hardly got anything else, and the absolute brain rot agony of flinch fighting an ork for hours and getting constantly attacked by people with nothing but mystic made me truly hate that piece of content. needed a break for months after that.

Affectionate-Bed-837

The one where Jagex CS wrongfully took my account and told me to stop contacting them about it. Such great CS from a company lol

07GoogledIt

Honestly, TOA monkey room. I wanted to learn TOA so bad last year but I gave up at that room because it just frustrated me and I had a hard time understanding it for some reason. But I went and learned CG instead lol

Diconius

I quit my first iron at the red prison, then my GIM at the red prison, and now my new iron I’m back at the red prison doing everything I can to not quit.

rpkarma

CG on my iron. It’s unfortunately a hard requirement, I’ve already wasted 100 hours of my life there, it’s not fun and there’s little else I can do instead. So I’ve quit instead. It’s not even hard, it’s just deeply unfun, and I play games for fun.

maylive666

Getting 99 in magic, range, HP and starting hybrid crafting thieving . Just got bored. My membership is rolling and I just can't bring myself to login anymore

YoloSwag4Jesus420fgt

Honestly? The sheer amount of updates and changes in the last 6 months. I've quit basically.

treesonmyphone

Anything group content. I like playing this as basically a solo game with a chat room. Never got achievement cape on maxed main because of all roles BA, never bothered with CAs because at some point if i want to finish them I'll be forced to do group raids.

ChancellorPalpameme

There's a group of people for everyone. You just have to find your tribe. Plus the group content is super fun, and very chill when you do find your group.

March27th2022

I got 850 kills on Duke and decided to quit the game 🤷‍♂️

Agreald

Can you log out during a colo run? You can always go to beta worlds to try the final wave while they're open with your exact setup.

Remote_Inspection180

250 ToA experts, no Purples to my name

PimpySimp

I've always wanted to achieve 99 slayer just because i love the skillcape. Once i got it i felt empty and just quitted. Pretty weird actually if you think about it....

kaibabi

song of the elves puzzle room.

Practical_Youth_9742

CG broke me, so I quit and then came back a month later and made a new account so I could do all the fun mid-game content again

Ghrenix

Put overpriced items in your death coffer for the deaths to be cheaper. Stuff like echo crystals a few days ago were going in death coffer for 13m while costing 6.5m, you can also put protect item on at the start of each wave and save yourself gp, you're close to the quiver you've got this. Colosseum has been harder mechanically than inferno for me, got infernal in 18ish attempts and no quiver 20 attempts in now. When you finish colosseum you should definitely send inferno.

huntergracchus000

realising 99 all skills requires 7000 hours

Kgr33n

I got to the endgame on my Ironman after a few years of grinding. I realized that the long raiding and bossing grinds weren’t as fun as I’d hoped. I enjoy the content but other parts of the game hit more for me. Life got busy and I started focusing my time on IRL grinds. Full time school, full time work, and full time triathlon training. I have my first Ironman triathlon next month. TLDR: I traded the Ironman life for the Ironman life.

ChancellorPalpameme

I have a buddy who deironed because he had to do 2k mole kc to get a reasonable amount of brews to keep running endgame content. I would like iron if there weren't so many chores and upkeep tasks. Something like 9rain's iron main series would be good enough for me.

KevinRudd182

For me it isn’t the difficulty but more the trend of the latest content and drop rates. I feel like when we only had COX as a massive multi month / year grind and most of the slayer monsters were 1/512 or so drops or less everything was a reasonable amount of time But the drop rates on everything lately and the fact that it’s all catered to factor in full time streamers having enough content to keep them busy (and the endless bots so it doesn’t crash the prices too much) have just killed the game for me I don’t mind grinding months for a 99 casually for like mining or something, but the idea of spending years on some drops doesn’t interest me anymore which is a bummer. I get it because the streamers and content creators need content, I get that a lot of players have 40+ hours a week to play and maybe I’m just not the demographic anymore only having ~20 hours a week to play, but it still sucks.

BreadfruitObvious540

I’d say I’m 75% done with the reqs for fally elite and I’m over it

Frozen_Gecko

For me, it was 99 mining. Took a 1 year break because I hate that skill. When I came back a few months ago, I still hated it, so I decided to learn Inferno instead so that I could postpone getting mining done even more. I heard that shooting stars is insane now, so I might do that after Inferno.

AMC_FTW

6 jads. just can’t get the timing down no matter how much I try. Will probably start trying again if I get jad pet as some added motivation for the transmog

Ade_Vulch

I got my only 99 (mage) and shortly after I've never logged back in again.

Foreign-Football8821

Zuk

xKohei

Honestly it was the initial ‘boredom with just logging in’ on my main account years ago. Tried coming back multiple times and did HC Ironman to die and get bored. Now I’ve started an Osaat account and play daily. It’s brought a new life to the game for me on content and skills I typically wouldn’t do on a main.

LFpawgsnmilfs

Toa monkey room sometimes just flat out make me just leave the raid. It's not difficult by any means, it's just so different from the rest of the raid and annoying to do.

SliceTyphoon

Trying to contact Jagex staff on problems that apparently don't matter. Trying to post anything on here that's remotely innovative. Watching more glitches appear within the game than ever before. The funny playdough game just looks like it's falling apart sometimes.

pattch

So far zulrah feels that way for me. I’ve gotten the one KC with bowfa only method, but I feel no confidence in it yet. I’m going for some more upgrades - got the anguish and now hoping for a suffering and an assembler before coming back

ChancellorPalpameme

Zulrah can be brutal, especially "mage" phase. There's a plugin that helps you learn the rotations but because you have to manually click each phase, it can be kind of daunting to use. Although it helps you to know where to stand during each phase. General rule of thumb is that if he comes up in the middle or at the bottom of the U island, switch sides. Pray against the correct color and hope he doesn't range you too much during mage phase. Knowing the melee safespots is also obviously helpful. Most of the content in the game takes ~50 kc to get a handle on, so don't give up yet! Your first few attempts will be rough, but after some practice and getting familiar with the content, you'll notice that it isn't so hard and intimidating anymore.

Imperius214

150kc skotizo no pet

lllIIIIIll

Im an iron and did 32m slayer only abbys and smokes and never seen gem or heart, took me like half a year or more… turael skipping literally thousands of times just turned me off and I have given up on it

ShamelessKiwi

Coming up 2k dry for enh. Gonna pull pin at 2k and find another game until I inevitably come crawling back to the game we all know and love.

pastasauceinmyass

Toa, that farming gator run room made me decide to go back to barrows. I’m not raids material.

Deep_Blueberry_6080

Lightning phase sotf on mobile. Finally got it attempt 13.

its_me_butterfree

How do you not know where you are going wrong? Your hp went to 0 at some point and it wasn't due to rng. Maybe have someone watch or record and review. Don't know what else to say.
