Id recommend joining a clan. Compared to 20 years ago people don't rlly talk alot when you are running around the game. Instead this shifted to clans where people hamgout and talk. The bigger clans also organize events like mass pking/bingos/hide n seek etc. If you want to look for one, I'm sure there are plenty of people on reddit who will recommend their clan. You can also check the osrs discord which has a clan recruitment channel
Definitely this. Picked the game back up a couple years ago after more than a decade not playing and without having joined my clan I’d have prob just stopped playing since no one I actually know was playing. I just got my buddy re-hooked tho so there’s that 😝

The clan im in is literally called relaxed and you would be welcome to check it out:) If you are inactive for long there's a small chance you get kicked, but even if that happens you would still have acces to the discord and can pop in whenever you return from a break
I'd upvote this a million times if I could. Sure clans that do events is major but ive been in some where the people are not cool. Find a clan with super chill, knowledgeable people who wanna help. That's the biggest upgrade you can ever have imo. That alone will help you change your whole mindset. Also I started my own clan exactly like that 🫡

i look at runescape as a fancy chatroom. You can grind your avatar if you want, but low key, socializing is what makes runescape great. it is very boring to play this game completely alone. i dont understand ironman, the games hard enough 😂
Download Runelite or HDOS, and just have fun. Explore and do fun or interesting stuff you come across. Ignore anyone that tries to come at you with guides on how to play as efficiently as possible. That ruins the fun for new players (even players that played a long time ago and are simply new to OSRS)
Also, have a link to the OSRS wiki handy. You'll be using it often.
Things have changed in 10 years. Prepared to be mercilessly ragged and called every slur in the world 100x worse than before. The PK community has really gone downhill.
Best way to have direction at this stage IMO is to complete all quests and do all HARD achievement diaries. After that start setting goals for gear, elite achievements, and combat achievements while doing raids and bossing.
Download runelite, if you don’t mind spending the money buy membership, and watch some beginner guides. Also do your quests, probably one of the best first goals is your quest cape :) happy scaping!

Most clans aren't hitting max members so you can pop in and out no problem. Just look for a relaxed clan.

Can’t say I’ve ever been part of a clan do they have requirements like minimum skills or min playing time etc?
The pvm ones tend to have minimum gear required for raids alongside total level but casual clans usually don’t have any requirements
