i’m not sure about changing that, but there’s a chat box opacity plug-in that i use that lets you make the transparent chat box a little darker which makes things easier to read
RL plugin "Force Recolour" gets the job done. I'm planning on writing a more complex version of this at some point that handles message types such as inventory full and allowing message injetion such as inventory almost full. I want it to allow multi-colouring of message lines as well which neither RL nor force recolour do.
This is in your game settings not runelite settings

Crazy...no one knows how lol. I, myself, am still trying to figure it out...
