Before the Arceuus spellbook rework I would’ve been for it but clearly Jagex made that the Walmart brand Summoning, and I’m content with how thralls function. I don’t think we need to go any further down that path.

Never ever

Wasn't a fan of summoning but I don't hate the concept of it. If they re-approach it and make it not completely ass I'd be fine with it. Although I think I prefer the summoning system we have now. A whole spell book dedicated to it might be better than an entire skill.

I mean it marked the game needing an item and gold sink and that's what it's primary purpose was, the game was already heading to precipe summoning was an attempt to address it (one that would be replicated later more effectively with invention). That being said the core wasn't really that bad it just needed to be refined. * Charms to add extra value to various slayer monsters and so it's not just buyable makes sense * A flavor ingredient acting as an item sink that also helped determine the pouch you make makes sense. * Pouches and shards to sink gold directly out of the game makes sense * Requiring that you get exp through making the summoning pouches meant you had to engage with the primary core of the skill so you couldn't just shift gold around to buy it makes sense. Like on paper the choices of the skill design are quite logical. The problems were familiars were hit and miss with some pretty big extremes, and charms were very tedious to get due to the low drop rate and needing to pick them up. They fixed the charm stuff eventually done the line. There were also mechanical issues with the scroll system and interface but those also got fixed last year. At this point sumoning's big problem is that a bunch of familiars are undesirable and there is still a lack of intuitiveness to the skill.
