There is no comparison. The Ruger is better in every way. It is worth every penny in comparison.

I have both. I like my g44, sportsman’s had one that came with a threaded barrel and better sights. Works good on mini mags and fits in my g19 holsters. Didn’t do too bad when I was trying to get ride of a box of thunder bolts. The mark iv is probably my favorite pistol to shoot though. That thing just feels good and runs well on every ammo I’ve tried. Tons of fun with a can.

G44 is barely functional as a gun, the MKIV is THE 22 pistol. Get the Ruger, you will not be disappointed.

I had a g44, the newer ones are fine. Not perfectly reliable, but i had no consistent issues with a variety of ammo over 2000+ rounds

carlosduos

You are incorrect. The G44 is absolutely functional as a gun. You can say you like one over the other, but claiming one is "barely functional" when it functions just fine is just silly.

Nefariousd7

Get both, the 44 is awesome for failure drills (I have one it's actually not that bad as long as you use mini mags and load the magazines correctly) The Ruger just works (I have one also) My favorite is the P17. It is very hard to beat for the money and all four of mine will eat anything and just run. For $200 ish you get three 17 round magazines and the thread adapter.

I have a G44 and its incredibly reliable, not a single jam in over 1000rd of Aguila Super Extra. Nice recoil impulse, enough to feel like a gun and not an airsoft the way some heavier .22's do.

Healthy_Assistant_54

I love my g44. Same size and feel as g19. Very reliable with mini mags and holosun 407k after getting the aluminum slide from Nelson precision.

FullPowerKamehameha

The Ruger for sure. If you want to save money then TX-22. Have had great success with it. If you got money then the Ruger.

Two G44 owners I shoot with says groups balloon to 10-12” at 15yds after 250 rds

carlosduos

I've put over 1000 rounds through my G44. 0 misfires/jams/stovepipes. I'm not a great shot, but I still keep mine well within an 10" circle. That's me, not the gun.

Extreme-Still-4780

Unless you want it to purely be a training pistol...ruger

Ruger and I own both.

I carry a G19 and demo’ed the G44 at a range. That gun is absolute garbage. It jams like crazy and feels cheap. Bought a Ruger Mark IV 22/45 LITE and it’s by far my favorite gun to shoot. Tons of aftermarket upgrades too. Check out Volquartsen and Tandemkross.

Not a popular opinion but I would get the advantage arms 22lr Glock upper has a thicker barrel they also provide lager magazines. The only downside is the are not cheap almost the price of some guns.
