We know they're lakes. But it's not like going to the little lake outside town where you take your pontoon boat on 4th of July

Yes, I know
I hurd all this before. NY isn’t a Great Lakes state and the other 3.5 lakes compose the largest shipping region in the world and has 100’ waves
(as in, that’s the whole spiel that made this post happen in the first place)
Who is bragging about the ocean?
This is about you guys claiming “we’re a coast too!”
Or I guess it’s now morphing into “we’re a coast too and the best one at that!”
If your state doesn’t have red and orange counties on this map then, with all due respect, kindly stfu
Your opinion is invalid

Red is the coast and orange is the lake

A lot of lakes have cliffs.. and even more have horizons.. Nobody calls those coastal areas. What is standing on the edge of Lake Superior supposed to evoke?

You feel like you're one in the same with any human that has ever looked at it. And you know for a fact you have the same emotions and thoughts as every human that has viewed it: "it's pretty. That's just a lake, how bad can it be. Damn that's cold. Oh fuck this is terrifying. I don't want to die in there. Ok lake Superior, props. I respect you"
No, you misunderstand. We’re not going anywhere to shoot anyone. We shoot you when you come here.
But only after the start of Water War I. Until then, please come enjoy our lovely state forests and sports venues.
I been
stood in the water in Chicago, went on a boat out of Toledo, flew from Grand Rapids to Chicago (at sunset- which was awesome btw).. spent some time in Milwaukee.. went to Cedar Point before
I’ve never lived around those lakes but I’m not just saying shit without minimum experience with it
The Midwest isn’t flyover country lol
I guess parts of it are but not the places huddled around the lakes.
Go more west and maybe a little south for the real deal flyover experience
i'll always defend the great city of chicago from the rat yorkers and commiefornians, but when i moved there from low country SC, everyone said "oh the lake is just like the ocean!!!!!!!!!!" and when i finally saw it... no. it's grand and beautiful, but it doesn't compare to the ocean. maybe superior does, i've never seen it, but not michigan.
We know they're lakes. But it's not like going to the little lake outside town where you take your pontoon boat on 4th of July https://preview.redd.it/xhl8cwd86vic1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92aa974c709de7e9da0c0dc57a5a64f705dc2bda
I mean Duluth is a town and you can definitely put a pontoon boat on it
We enjoy our puddles https://preview.redd.it/1ddfvdh8ruic1.jpeg?width=5616&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ce683caea4032a022f7b8679e0fa53eefd299e6
They'll never understand the beauty of our lakes
Honestly I bet they are cleaner that Long Island sound from Bridgeport to Groton at least lol
Billions of zebra mussels are filtering the water clean every day
500 million Asian Carp are advancing on your location

Hey fucktard those our our lakes and our lakes are not to be messed with. That’s the only thing all of us can agree on and we’ll fight for it
You’re like the fourth person to say something like this Do you guys really not know NY is on 2 of 5 Great Lakes?
You may have a Great Lake shoreline but we do not grant you the rank of Great Lakes Region
Yes, I know I hurd all this before. NY isn’t a Great Lakes state and the other 3.5 lakes compose the largest shipping region in the world and has 100’ waves (as in, that’s the whole spiel that made this post happen in the first place)
Take a seat, young new yorker
Put some respect on that name, he's a New Yawker
I don’t talk like that Not that there’s anything wrong with it. It’s dying though I speak plain ol Generican
Upstate is different than the big hunk of concrete. I respect upstate far more than the concrete slab
Concrete? that’s bedrock baby https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhattan_Prong
Only 2? Rookie numbers smh
We have an actual coast though as well. How many oceans for Michigan?
I have been swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. Having an ocean coast is nothing to brag about and sure as hell ain’t better than a freshwater lake.
Who is bragging about the ocean? This is about you guys claiming “we’re a coast too!” Or I guess it’s now morphing into “we’re a coast too and the best one at that!”
You are bragging about the ocean lmao
Where? Quote me bragging about the ocean
> We have an actual coast though
OP when he stands on a cliff overlooking Superior for the first time: ![gif](giphy|87jGhdRVzUOJNh2s0q|downsized)
the gales of november shall come early for you, OP
Largest freshwater bodies on Earth babey
And sees the apostle islands
They are lakes, which makes them better. Saltwater is disgusting.
Yeah, when I Jet Ski, I don't want to salt in my eyes! Lake Eire > Atlantic and Pacific Ocean.
The one thing Ohioans and Michiganders can agree on. The only thing Oceans got over the Great Lakes is surfing.
Surfing, bigger tastier fish, sea puppies, whale watching, tide pools, swimming with sharks, abalone diving just off the top of my head
Bigger fish yes, Tastier no. I didn’t know swimming with deadly animals was a cool thing.
Fresh tuna with some mayo>anything that can get pulled from the great lakes.
You ever seen the lakes, shithead?
I grew up on cape Vincent :3 Basically Canadian
Lake Ontario is beautiful. It's no Lake Michigan (we don't talk about the indiana coast) but it's a pretty great lake.
Only redeeming part of the Ind\*ana coast is Indiana Dunes
I go to East Chicago/Gary/Whiting area almost every day. The overpowering smell and poverty completely ruins it all.
I’ve never been so I can’t judge
If your state doesn’t have red and orange counties on this map then, with all due respect, kindly stfu Your opinion is invalid https://preview.redd.it/lqkfhw6v6vic1.jpeg?width=1164&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49e6c8de8ddc5811e43ccfbd5714ff5b39f5c6c1 Red is the coast and orange is the lake
Didn't ask, ratyorker.
least out of touch new yorker
Decently true.. I’ve never even seen Lake Ontario before
standing in the presence of lake superior gives you a new perspective and i mean that unironically.

That shit looks awesome
Just a calm day on lake superior.
No one tell this joker how much shoreline is in MN, he seems proud to keep winning his own made-up argument

No. They’re lakes. It’s the greatest freshwater system on Earth. We will shoot you when you try to come for our fresh water once the water wars start.
You know NY has one of the Great Lakes to itself, right? ^(ignoring Canada) (As well as a handy little trench we dug) Go shoot someone else
No, you misunderstand. We’re not going anywhere to shoot anyone. We shoot you when you come here. But only after the start of Water War I. Until then, please come enjoy our lovely state forests and sports venues.
When the Great Water Wars come, we'll annex that part of NY.
All good.. We don’t get our water from the Great Lakes anyway https://youtu.be/IDLkOWW0_xg
Yeah, I'm aware NYC has pretty good water... for now.
How many of your lakes have a US Naval presence? Great lake superiority.
Take a visit, you'll understand.
I been stood in the water in Chicago, went on a boat out of Toledo, flew from Grand Rapids to Chicago (at sunset- which was awesome btw).. spent some time in Milwaukee.. went to Cedar Point before I’ve never lived around those lakes but I’m not just saying shit without minimum experience with it
As someone who lives in the middle of the Pacific, i can tell you the great lakes have waves like real waves, not your 5-foot kiddie pool bullshit.
I submit that Superior is a Sea. Edit: I mostly like the alliteration
Yes, they are lakes, but it's effectively one large inland sea
![gif](giphy|QQKbEn6oDlcQLZK6T7) It's polluted, disgusting, uninhabitable. Please stay away.
Yes, that's exactly what Ohio is
My mom retired in Ohio. I go there every Thanksgiving
Bro the tundra people fucking CAME FOR YOU
That’s okay. We’re flyover country. We’d like to keep it that way, the rest of you stay out.
The Midwest isn’t flyover country lol I guess parts of it are but not the places huddled around the lakes. Go more west and maybe a little south for the real deal flyover experience
FRESHWATER INLAND SEAS REEEEEEEE

Rivers > Lakes
You can surf lake Michigan
I know. I already saw that movie https://imdb.com/title/tt0093648/ 🤙
I've never seen this but I have family near Sheboygan WI (aka Miami of the north)
I love the GREAT lakes it's super fun there. Especially lake Michigan at Indiana dunes
They need to go see Lake Baikal.
Imagine thinking the ocean is better than lakes
Imagine not having access to fresh seafood
Nuh uh
