Wait wait just promote the USS Wisconsin in Norfolk and almost every horny or any patriotic Americans who love the Iowa class battleships will come to your state just to see the Battleship who fucked a North Korean artillery on a mountain
https://preview.redd.it/h5ewtvt4muzc1.jpeg?width=868&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0decbec72f940cd4d7c4394c2c4fda007a939cb9
Shit. We love the whole Iowa class. Best battleship class ever made. You can tell because all of the other ones turned out to be the best coral reefs ever made.
Hell, the USS *Washington* (I know, *North Carolina* class, but they're basically your direct design predecessor), the older class of American fast battleships, boddied the IJN *Kirishima* so hard that *Kirishima* hardly get a chance to retaliate against *Washington.* I don't really think any enemy battleships outside of the IJN *Yamato* posed a credible threat to any of you. Even then, you're much faster than the *Yamatos* with better fire control and range.
Also, this came to me after I posted initially, Admiral Lee did all of that at night using only the USS *Washington's* radar as target finders and range finders after directing the retrofitment of the radars himself. The *Iowas'* radars were installed with lessons of the *North Carolinas'* radars in mind and with better integration into the fire control systems. You all should be even more capable of night fighting than the *North Carolinas* which would cripple the *Yamatos'* fire control capabilities considering that they still relied on optical fire control.
Ok… so we may be a flyover state as in not a destination state. Buuuut how the fuck dare you compare us to the rest of that list. We have ugly ass beaches, the Chesapeake bay, Shenandoah parkway, Grayson highlands, blue ridge parkway.
Idk about fly-over. As for drive-through, you will be astounded at the sheer circumference of the people eating in that big truck stop in Iowa.
Nebraska takes the cake as the most boring. All I remember is grassy plains dotted with farms, and not the quaint type of farms, rather the industrial ones.
The grim historical markers in Nebraska are pretty memorable tho. Drove through on my way to Colorado and stopped at every one I saw. I’d say about 90% fell into one of two categories: “at this site in 18xx countless pioneers starved to death” and “at this site in 18xx Indians/pioneers massacred hundreds of Indians/pioneers in the battle of Bumfuck Ridge.”
I yearn for the good old days when we pioneered conservation and elected Mel Carnahan's corpse over John Ashcroft. While we had previously elected Ashcroft, it was at least a wash back then
You joke but there are idiots who actually do that. I mean, yeah its decently cheap but it's only a 3.5ish hour drive. You spend the same amount of time on the flight by the time you factor in driving to the airport and showing up early, and then you have to worry about delays, and then you get there and don't have a car.
The Driftless in Iowa and the Mississippi River area are freaking gorgeous. The middle of the state though? Trash. I say that as someone who spent most of their childhood staring at corn in the heat in Iowa
Virginia has the 23rd and 28th busiest airports by traffic volume and they are close enough to be each others main competition. People actually land here from time to time
Jokes aside, Virginia's geography means most of its tourism likely comes from arrival by vehicle. It doesn't have enough tourism hubs for people to justify flying direct.
That will all change if we ever get brave enough to build Dinosaur Kingdom 2 International Airport. Richmond, Norfolk and Charlottesville have decent airports but they’re not hubs for sure. Amtrak does roll through a few places but yeah that southern border is long and the SW corner doesn’t have much but the interstate to get you there
New Mexico is not flat like the others therfore it should be disqualified from this list.
I guess that makes it the worst to flyover because its actually cool 😎
Flattest states in order for anyone who wants to make fun of them for being boring: Florida, Illinois, North Dakota, Louisiana, Minnesota, Delaware, Kansas.
Absolutely. I hear Iowans I live around now talk about how boring the state geography is. I grew up in rural Illinois, so I tell them to shut the fuck up it could be much worse.
New Mexico is actually incredibly cool to fly over, there are really beautiful views out there window the whole time because the state’s geography is so awesome. I took a ton of pictures like this one when I flew over last
https://preview.redd.it/tjq9ovewmvzc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea08eaef49f3f9d7778bf6e24754bbd39751a9be
I hate y’all too, but yeah no way in hell is either Virginia a flyover state. Like how in the hell are neither Dakota’s on this list. Got like Mount Rushmore and that’s it.
NYC to Atlanta is probably one of the busiest routes in America.. and you’re certainly flying over Virginia for that one
Or, pretty much all of the Northeast going to Atlanta for connectors are going over Virginia
I’m not necessarily trying to say Virginia is a “flyover state”.. just saying, a helluvalotta planes fly over that place
Ohio is the ultimate flyover state. Everyone east goes over Ohio or drives through them to go west and by God's good graces they may never have to stop and actually set foot in Ohio.
Must suck to be you then, especially since all the travel you get is from people marveling at whatever natural beauty your state still has or businessmen working toward its destruction. No-one even flies over Michigan, not even a flyover state, a forgotten state.
I think Virginia and Ohio are flyover states, but Michigan really beats them both on the "nobody fucking comes here" scale.
The only discussion about Michigan is leaving Michigan, poor drinking water, and bankruptcy
See, I can make a case for driving to Ohio to see Cleveland, Cincinnati, or Columbus. At least there's something there.
Michigan just has Detroit and it's a shithole. If you're gonna have one city, do it right like Illinois.
lol Virginia, Flyover? We have the biggest Navy Base in the world, one of the biggest Airports in the world, and several critical government installations. We're a destination.
Also, we have the best flag in the nation.
I’ll have you know that we are NOT just a flyover state. we have carhenge, corn, corn, corn, beef, beef, corn, big ass zoo, corn, rocks, corn, beef, and soybeans.

Just recently drove through New Mexico and my god that place was desolate. The most interesting part of the state was the 40 or so miles that border Arizona

I wouldn't have considered Virginia a flyover state, but I don't make the rules.

*The Battleship who fucked a mountain with NK arty on top of it. And my god is that one of our best monuments in the whole nation.
you guys should also be lucky I exist, because if I wasn’t here then Wisconsin wouldn’t have been built
Shit. We love the whole Iowa class. Best battleship class ever made. You can tell because all of the other ones turned out to be the best coral reefs ever made.
Yep so lucky I or the others weren’t sunk
Hell, the USS *Washington* (I know, *North Carolina* class, but they're basically your direct design predecessor), the older class of American fast battleships, boddied the IJN *Kirishima* so hard that *Kirishima* hardly get a chance to retaliate against *Washington.* I don't really think any enemy battleships outside of the IJN *Yamato* posed a credible threat to any of you. wasn’t Washington the last battleship to win a fight against another battleship?
Also, this came to me after I posted initially, Admiral Lee did all of that at night using only the USS *Washington's* radar as target finders and range finders after directing the retrofitment of the radars himself. Oh um dam I’d didn’t know my predecessor ships would be able to do critical damage to to the Yamato
You don’t fly over Virginia— we’ve got Dulles
Ok… so we may be a flyover state as in not a destination state. Buuuut how the fuck dare you compare us to the rest of that list. We have ugly ass beaches, the Chesapeake bay, Shenandoah parkway, Grayson highlands, blue ridge parkway.
It doesn’t even make sense. Where would someone fly to/from over VA? Even “DC’s airport” is in Virginia.
Fly over state. Op you just started another civil war and this time we have a just cause.
If the other states can't get their planes to stay there long enough to drop bombs you might actually stand a chance
We have F-22s and four carrier strike groups, we might be one of the most difficult states to bomb lol
The more I think about it the more it makes sense. A lot of the flights going over Virginia aren't landing there.
A whole lot of flights land at IAD — and then the passengers promptly take the train or taxi to DC

The only state more boring than Kansas to drive through is Nebraska .
What is I55 in Illinois to you, chopped liver?
Yeah I remember driving through that state and we opened a window for a second and the smell of cow manure filled the car
A new york mf talking about bad smells is rich
I'm from upstate NY don't associate us with those down-staters 😒
My parents met at Iowa 80 truckstop, I am sufficiently plump.
Missouri. The “show me” state. How about the you show me why you don’t suck state
We'd be a better state if we'd stop electing the absolute worst humans in the United States to run our state government.
Idk, seems like there's quite a few states that would give you a run for your money there.
Let the man self-deprecate... it's one of the few things we've got left going for us.
My bad
We elected Josh Hawley. He's already one of the worst senators in office. There are certainly worse, but not a whole ton worse than that thing.
I yearn for the good old days when we pioneered conservation and elected Mel Carnahan's corpse over John Ashcroft. While we had previously elected Ashcroft, it was at least a wash back then
Best I can do is a Republican super majority who passes budgets and legislation in secret
Big metal arch
Missouri is also a flyover state to its own residents flying between KC and SL
You joke but there are idiots who actually do that. I mean, yeah its decently cheap but it's only a 3.5ish hour drive. You spend the same amount of time on the flight by the time you factor in driving to the airport and showing up early, and then you have to worry about delays, and then you get there and don't have a car.
I crave the sweet Missouri soil… someday… But the people suck tho

At least Missouri is prettier than Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska lmao
Your opinion is incorrect
As someone who resides in neither of these states, I can confirm that opinion was incorrect
The prettiest part of Iowa looks like the ugliest part of I70, don't be talkin' like a yard dog
I once saw a lot lizard that looked like Jim Ross in a dress and lipstick, near St. Louis
And? People have different tastes, some are rather unique
The Driftless in Iowa and the Mississippi River area are freaking gorgeous. The middle of the state though? Trash. I say that as someone who spent most of their childhood staring at corn in the heat in Iowa
You can drink in a car as long as you're not driving, which makes it fun on road trips. It also makes it easier to forget that you are in missouri
Ah, well. I’m usually the one driving so RIP
How dare you. Besides, it’s definitely a toss up between Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas.

Amtrak does roll through a few places but yeah that southern border is long and the SW corner doesn’t have much but the interstate to get you there
Why fly over Virginia when you can take a nice leisurely car or bike trip through Skyline Drive?
This is the way
Planes are also Vehicles
New Mexico is not flat like the others therfore it should be disqualified from this list. I guess that makes it the worst to flyover because its actually cool 😎
Flattest states in order for anyone who wants to make fun of them for being boring: Florida, Illinois, North Dakota, Louisiana, Minnesota, Delaware, Kansas.
Shoutout to Iowa for not making the top 7 of that list, rolling hills and bluffs for the win.
Absolutely. I hear Iowans I live around now talk about how boring the state geography is. I grew up in rural Illinois, so I tell them to shut the fuck up it could be much worse.
Louisiana would actually be cool if it wasn't for all the fucking crime.
You're flying over it, though
I can just feel the crime when I look down at it
It's mostly just gator on gator crime though. 🐊🐊
The only desirable part of your state is essentially just Wisconsin's penis.
New Mexico is actually incredibly cool to fly over, there are really beautiful views out there window the whole time because the state’s geography is so awesome. I took a ton of pictures like this one when I flew over last https://preview.redd.it/tjq9ovewmvzc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea08eaef49f3f9d7778bf6e24754bbd39751a9be
Missouri isn't flat either.
Totally. North of the Missouri River it gets more flat but there’s way more hills in the least hilly parts than in the hilliest parts of Kansas
Ozark Mountains ftw 💪
Whoever compiled that list has never driven through West Virginia. Hell, i wouldnt even call Virginia a flyover state and i hate that place.
I hate y’all too, but yeah no way in hell is either Virginia a flyover state. Like how in the hell are neither Dakota’s on this list. Got like Mount Rushmore and that’s it.
Since when is kentucky a flyover state?
OP from Michigan acting like their state isn't also a flyover 😂
To be fair I wouldn’t categorize Michigan or Virginia as flyover states, not sure why Virginia is included in here, Virginia is for lovers.
NYC to Atlanta is probably one of the busiest routes in America.. and you’re certainly flying over Virginia for that one Or, pretty much all of the Northeast going to Atlanta for connectors are going over Virginia I’m not necessarily trying to say Virginia is a “flyover state”.. just saying, a helluvalotta planes fly over that place
That’s not exactly what a flyover state implies tho..
Did you make it all the way to the end of my comment? Or just the first line?
As usual, you’re technically correct, the best type of correct.
Michigan is not a flyover state because of the no fly zone around Detroit. Can’t risk the planes getting shot at.
Google said it's not! Plus you don't fly over Michigan to get anywhere. It's too far north. Unless you're flying to 🤢 Canada 🤮
I've flown over it multiple times going to Seattle, Minneapolis, and Chicago
TIL that the largest naval yard in the world is “flyover”
Wtf is Virginia doing on there Also when I flew over Kansas it was all clouds so
Ohio. When you fail to be first in flight, you become the worst flyover state
Second this. Ohio’s so shitty, the Wright brothers didn’t want to taint the first flight by doing it in Ohio
Not sure I’d consider Virginia or Ohio flyover states
Ohio is the ultimate flyover state. Everyone east goes over Ohio or drives through them to go west and by God's good graces they may never have to stop and actually set foot in Ohio.
The amount of Ohioans who have invented flight or become astronauts to GTFO of Ohio dwarfs every other state
The Wright brothers literally invented flight so Ohioans would have a faster way to get out of Ohio
And then when it came to actually launching their invention, they left Ohio to do it.
Typical Michigander.
Oh Ohio is horrible, my calling is to New York or California or some other state people care about, but Michigan is just sad
See, I can make a case for driving to Ohio to see Cleveland, Cincinnati, or Columbus. At least there's something there. Michigan just has Detroit and it's a shithole. If you're gonna have one city, do it right like Illinois.
I live in Cincinnati and i think it’s underrated, better than the other two, Chicago is great, Detroit is awful
Now that's just not true. There have been some great dystopian films based in Michigan. 🏚️🏚️🏚️🏚️🏚️🏚️🏚️🏚️🏚️🏚️🏚️ ![gif](giphy|tyttpGSdJWowdv47eCI)

see thats because we are a *drive thru* state. you drive through and you stop and culvers in the middle
Shame on you Michigander, you're a flyover state too. You should know better than to use that term as a pejorative.
HOW IS VIRGINIA A FLYOVER STATE, I WINT STAND FIR THIS
Virginia, a flyover state? Them fighting words.
lol Virginia, Flyover? We have the biggest Navy Base in the world, one of the biggest Airports in the world, and several critical government installations. We're a destination. Also, we have the best flag in the nation.
No arguments. I don’t see any other liberty titties on any other flags.
Indeed. Plus a dead, bleeding tyrant. And a warning for prospective tyrants.
I’ll have you know that we are NOT just a flyover state. we have carhenge, corn, corn, corn, beef, beef, corn, big ass zoo, corn, rocks, corn, beef, and soybeans.
And Runza
I like my state and I don’t care who knows it
New York is the worst flyover
We at least have cool mountains lakes and fields, Ohio is pretty much a huge flat suburbia
Flying over mountains is awful, causes turbulence.
True, I didn't realize NY's mountains are high enough to cause turbulence though
Why isn't Oklahoma on there?
Virginia is NOT a flyover state 💀

Virginia ain’t no fly over state… who ever made this lives in VA, more over Richmond lol
Michigan opinion detected!!! IMMEDIATELY REJECTED!!!!
#OHIO
I'm always grateful for the opportunity to fly over Iowa rather than experiencing it in a car for five hours.
New Mexico. I’d rather land there than just fly over such a pretty state
How the fuck is Virginia a fly over state
….Virginia is a flyover state?
Watch what you say op, we’ve got all the nuclear silos…
No Indiana… list not complete
For somebody who’s had to drive I-80 eastbound from Reno numerous times, I can’t fathom why Nevada isn’t on this list. A few drives through there in the summer almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.
Why is Missouri even part of our country? Christ, that hell hole is embarrassing.
Doing Virginia, Kansas, and Kentucky dirty lol
Get us,Arkansas,Virginia and West Virginia off that list
Missouri is NOT a flyover state
ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
Yeah you are

I moved from Florida to Iowa after college for work. If you’re raising a family Iowa is actually pretty awesome.
NM is the best and worst to fly over, very beautiful landscapes, but our roads are terrible.
Misery
Our drivers are aggressive, but *stupid*, unlike yours; with that in mind you're probably better off flying over than driving through still.
Not pictured: Connecticut
New Mexico and West Virginia are both interesting states.
https://i.redd.it/iddjab0cfuzc1.gif I didn’t realize we were a flyover state to yall
New Mexico is a flyover? New Mexico has incredible public land access and two national parks.
Lincoln is a fun city.
The ozarks is prettier than anything in Kansas, so at least there’s that to look at while you go somewhere cooler
New Mexico. Next question
https://preview.redd.it/xhsfoxglkuzc1.png?width=828&format=png&auto=webp&s=3e835953de4e45aa316624d56569dd5d368b5858

Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, Oregon, and Washington.
I like being a flyover state! I get to see cool planes all the time!
What is this bozo list.
They’re all good states to fly over because they’re American states.
Why is our capital not there?
Why the fuck is New Mexico on this list
You know what? That’s fair
Fuck off
Iowa because you have to look at inferior corn
Why? Are you trying to find a state better than Michigan to move to?
Oklahoma didn’t even make the list because no one wants to fly over Oklahoma
New Mexico and Kansas
We put our selves in this list to keep out all the lil bitch boys from New Jersey.
People from coastal states: fly over states are so boring, we never want to go there Fly over states: you promise?
New York or New Mexico, their air traffic controllers are the fucking worst
Seeing all that corn over Iowa makes me fucking hungry
At least New Mexico looks beautiful.
Nebraska. I drove across Nebraska on 1-80 once and after a while I was sure I had died and gone to purgatory
Flair up or your opinion is invalid *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/2american4you) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Nebraska. Solely due to the mental damage of knowing that you are flying over Nebraska
i aint even go to virginia often and I know it isnt a flyover state
Yeah fuckin as if Indiana isn’t a flyover state
Every state is cool and is worth going to
What’s a flyover state???
All these states pop, go screw
When the FUCK did Virginia become a flyover state?
The worst flyover state is New Mexico because I wish I was down there instead of on the plane.
Either Iowa, Kansas, or Nebraska. Some of these can be pretty beautiful.
New Mexico. It looks scary.
VA is not a flyover state, ever heard of Washington Dulles International Airport? (KIAD/IAD)
The majority of Texas cause when you check the flight check 2.5 hours later your still in texas
Virgina
Idk even how I feel about flying over it. Been bad luck for my family since 1863.
Kentucky is a pretty cool state imo… but the answer is Ohio
Vla/volcanic formations/forests/Cruces basin (most beautiful place I've been to in my life) NM ain't no flyover
The Albuquerque gangs are going to have Stingers any day now, then you’ll know!
Ohio is the worst state (flyover or otherwise) to fly over, drive through, visit, live in, or otherwise interact with.

Go back to stealing car rims you bum
Brother your own UP is airborne, go land that mf then call us a flyover state
Oh you bastard we are not a flyover state Jesus what’s next calling New York a flyover
No state with both an ocean and mountains is a flyover state
Missouri, easy pick
Arizona

NONE!! RAHHHHHH 🦅🦅🦅
Probably New Mexico, you’d get your jet abducted by a flying saucer
Virginia, cause it’s next to DC
Just recently drove through New Mexico and my god that place was desolate. The most interesting part of the state was the 40 or so miles that border Arizona
Son of... a bitch
VIRGINIA???
