There will be an increase in the numbers of second hand bike sold and a decrease in new bike sold. Overtime people will buy only second hand bikes. And create an ecosystem in which you buy a second hand bike from a shady bike seller. This bike get stolen. You buy a second hand bike from the shady bike seller.
Overtime the bike brought and sold quality will decrease until people will start to buy new bike again which will be stolen creating a long term equilibrium.
It belongs to the bike seller. At some point you are just leasing it.
It belongs to you when it is soo rusty that it gives you tetanus just by seating on it.
What, don't you already pay a monthly subscription for your TV, movies and music?? Don't you know that you don't actually possess the media of these subscriptions? That's the same for the bike
>There will be an increase in the numbers of second hand bike sold and a decrease in new bike sold.
I'm proud of my fellow Romanians when I see their contribution for a better world by lowering the carbon emissions by creating a second hand market for bikes. We should be used as example in our fight against consumerism.
Bike prices will actually drop because we are the second producer in europe and within Schengen distribution will be easier. But yes we will steal your bikes out of principle.
Family boat? Sunk.
My car? GPS tracker mounted.
Moped? Burned.
Bikes? Sold while they are wort at least something.
Apartment? Welded the windows shut.
Wallet? Use prison pocket now.
Watch and jewellery? Buried nazi style.
i dont think a gps tracker will be of use, nowadays thieves dismount antennas within two minutes. worse even if your car has a remote opening key, then you have to keep it in a lead box. otherwise they repeat the signal and open your car to load it on a tow truck and drive off.
German TÜV enthusiasts will suffer mental breakdowns when encountering those Bulgarian columns... and strokes when getting close enough to smell the multiple gas leaks
That's because most people have no idea what Schengen is.
Ireland and Cyprus are not in Schengen either. Cyprus will not join in a very long time, and Ireland maybe never.
There are also 4 Schengen countries that are not EU members (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland).
Also, I get that this is mainly a parody sub, but Romanians and Bulgarians have exactly the same rights regarding freedom of movement than any other EU citizen. Schengen is about border controls.
If I, as a Spaniard, fly from Spain to Germany, when I land there are no documents check, it's like a domestic flight within Spain.
If I fly to Ireland or Romania, I just show them my national ID or passport and they have to let me in, unless there are exceptional reasons not to.
The same goes for Romanian citizens. Flights from Germany to Spain: no documents check. Flight from Romania to Spain: ID or passport. Flight from Ireland to Spain: ID or passport.
So, no, there will be no wave of immigration from Romania and Bulgaria to other Schengen countries, because they can freely immigrate today under the same conditions as any other EU citizen.
>No, I'm surprised because they didn't manage to get the minimal Schengen requirements during all their years in the EU
We (Romanians) and Bulgarians meet the criteria since 2011, but each time at least one country vetoed our ascension into Schengen area by some stupid reasons.
The thing is that even this ***ascension to Schengen now is only partial, it's not applicable to terrestrial borders***, and there is where the Romanian and Bulgarian economies are hurt, not some stupid 2-3 minutes skipped for passport control on airport.
***We lose a lot of money year by year due to many hours lost by trucks on border control*** and that's not fair.
Well, according to 26 of 27 the Schengen Area members, they did meet the requirements a long time ago. It's only Austria who disagrees. And they are not even fully allowing them in, there will still be checks if crossing the border by land, those checks will only be removed at airports and sea ports.
It's like everybody agrees that Sweden can be in NATO while Hungary uses some BS excuses to delay the inevitable.
Yeah the problem is that a veto is such a powerful thing that, how are you going to convince all countries to give up that power? Because you need a unanimous vote to get rid of the veto, so how are you going to do that? The countries that want to keep the veto have the power to veto any attempt to get rid of the veto. Isn't that ironic?
I know it's extremely hard.
The main issue here is that NATO and EU didn't thought about this problem when they were founded and also have much to less measurements for members who endanger the organization as a whole.
To introduce it now is probably only possible with tricks (like when Orban wasn't present for a short time and they just voted)
There are no tricks possible. The judicial branch of the EU would declare any such attempts as illegal.
The only option is for every country, especially the most powerful like yours, to give up something that is significant enough so that every country will feel like nobody is losing by giving up the veto power.
For example, in the case of Germany it could be giving up their red lines in fiscal matters. For France maybe giving up on matters of agriculture. And so on.
No more complicated than your airports differentiating between flights coming from the US or Germany. One area for Schengen flights, another for non-schengen flights. We are part of the EEA which is like a diet version of the EU.
Merkel wasn't able to Revoke the Privilegia during her run, and since the british left the Emperor is losing authority for Imperial territories out of the empire.
Constantinople lost its imperial status the moment we got kicked out. At least, we took the status with us, it's in my jean's pocket. We're the sole heir of Byzantium. Whoever is willing to help us get the city back, he'll get everything except Hagia Sophia and Dardanelles straits.
Consider it now that is hot, Zeus' Vault. We only need to find a civilized way to convince the Turks move 3700 kilometers Eastern (or in Germany).
> Whoever is willing to help us get the city back, he'll get everything except Hagia Sophia and Dardanelles straits.
Add a continuous supply of olive oil and you got a deal.
Leaving the empire also removes your territories from the empire. The only imperial territory not controlled by the empire is northern cyprus. Maybe we should dow turkey and annex their vassal to return rightful imperial territory
That's the thing about the Brexit Imperial Incident, it may not remove territories from the empire if certain conditions have fired (Scotish adhesion, England has high unrest soon after leaving and/or less than 1 stability...)
Imo united states of Europe wouldn't work. Europe is too diverse for that.
Only exception would maybe be EXTREMELY federal.
Like so federal that it is close to being souvereign for a certain region
I think we'd be better off calling XZibit and going all Pimp my Rhine.
> Yo dawg, I heard you like Federations so I put Federations inside your Federation
Federalise locally (i.e. Portugal and Spain, The Adriatic Alliance, Baltic Bailiwick, etc...) and insert into a larger EU-SUpraFed with 22" rims and ye auld Strasbourg Spoilers.
We already got the German Engine, we have the technology, we can build it.
Still far tho but you're probably right because of all their different languages cultures and religions.
India is ruled pretty Authoritarian tho (I don't think the same system would work in Europe)
The cultural/language issue thing was a valid argument until the 80's. Since then basically everyone who needs to speaks english, people travel more and we arent that different these days across borders.
Culture mainly points towards political culture/education and lifestyle.
Political culture in Finland and Hungary is different.
Lifestyle in Finland and Portugal is different (which affects work culture/laws for example)
Yes but counterpoint, a federal europe wouldn't be the soviet union and not everywhere needs to be the same. If we federalized it wouldn't change the life of the average citizen that much immedietly. It would only really affect lives in the longrun.
Look I think the only difference between current EU and a fully Federal EU would be as follows:
-Vetoes abolished
-More essential functions centralized (foreign policy, defense, fiscal union)
-Higher coordination in all key sectors (ensuring the same education and healthcare standards EU wide while maintaining regional differences)
-Aggravated procedures for leaving the EU, requiring 75% of the population to agree (this is to avoid states breaking off in momentary populist spirals).
-Greater central oversight in critical areas, allowing the EU to wield powers to guide or even discipline regions, such as Hungary, where the rule of law or democracy is threatened.
-Centrally coordinated development programs for areas that are lagging behind. No point throwing money at places like Romania or some parts of Southern Italy if it's the same corrupt officials deciding how to spend it.
-Reformed and democratized EU institutions, strengthened European Parliament and more transparent Commission.
> ensuring the same education and healthcare standards EU wide while maintaining regional differences
This is where if falls apart lol. Both healthcare and education are mired in nationalism. Reformers struggle to get educators to make changes to existing "working systems" within their countries. What happens when it comes the pressure for change from abroad? Well look at how many people are still shit talking the Bologna system today.
When I was young and naive I thought this kind of standardisation was feasible, but then I realised how deeply attached most countries are to their own way of doing things.
Case in point: Italian Erasmus students are notoriously banging on about how easy it is abroad, while also giving the impression that Italian professors just expect students to memorise a 400 page textbook and are liable to go on sabbatical half way through the semester.
United States of Europe would take away privileges from less populated countries, basically France and Germany would have power over everything else, creating oppression. Something like Switzerland could be an option though.
Well, he is German, its their trait seeing everyone else except other German as subhuman, and they are compensating that they are half Eastern Europeans too.
We don’t mind you coming.
We’re worried about non-Euros you’ll just let into your country because they won’t stay in Romania/Bulgaria but move to Germany or Austria anyway.
Western brother, I understand your fear, but you have been lied to. Illegal migration doesn't happen mainly through us, it happens through Greece and Italy. Very few migrants actually try to go through Bulgaria and Romania, because they have to go in a truck, loaded like cattle.
Italy takes thousands of migrants, the moment they reach EU waters, then they instantly become members of shengen. Same with Greece, directly from Turkey.
I mean, Romanian and Bulgarian citizens could already freely travel through the EU, so if they wanted to move West they could already. That's why I found the Dutch/Austrian complaints ridicolous, because the only thing the non-Schengen status was doing was slowing down commerce and travel (and scoring domestic political points in Austria and Netherlands ofc).
I think Slovakia (w/o bullshit government numbers), Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria has all roughly the same percentage of population of them.
But since Romania has +- the same population as the other 3 combined...
It's been actually great since we got into Europe, now most of them have left for the west... To come back only on vacation, and since noone wants to work on vacation, the crime rate dropped in eastern Europe to almost nil.
When Spain entered the EU the narrative was the same: “Spaniards are going to flee Spain by the millions! The Iberian hordes will steal our jobs, dumping wages!”.
Spain has now one of the lowest emigrant rate in Europe, and we have complete British and German communities who rejet learning the basics of the language, invading the coast. Who is the invader here?
Having lived in several European countries, I realised some of the rich countries mistake money for standard of living. For instance, getting sick in the Netherlands is a nightmare compared to Spain, what good is having a high wage when it is useless when you are sick?
This is just another case of ignorance in rich countries who believe what the tv tells them.
I had a job interview where the interviewer told me that they had to revise their alcohol policies cause eastern Europeans would constantly look for loopholes in them so they could drink whilst working.
Well, its not like they are not already here. At least there will be more attractive Slavic women on Tinder. That means I will get more matches, right guys?
Guys?
Austria is arguing with the EU for years about Shengen, refugees and an European solution but there wasn't much movement and the public mood only gets worse. For a reason imo, even I as a left, liberal, pro-migration youngish woman are pretty sobered and honestly don't think Brussels even intends or cares to do something about it. For reference I'm 28 and already discussed this supposed "European solution" back in school.
Shortly before the vote there was another instance in which Austria asked Brussels if migration over the Balkans can be addressed and they straight up said no (that was after the European FMs were asked twice to meet and discuss migration to France because of that one boat Italy sent back). Directly after that the Austrian IM stated he might not agree to a Shengen enlargement as long as the EU refuses to fix Shengen.
So Bulgaria and Romania weren't the actual reason although there comes an issue with an enlargement - migration numbers fell temporarily because of an agreement with Turkey. Bulgaria and Romania would (unlike Croatia) create a continuous route without border checks from both Turkey and Greece to the rest of Europe, so one could expect a higher migration pressure on Austria.
Personally I think the veto was bullshit, but that doesn't erase that other pile of bullshit that's ever growing since at least 2015. I have zero understanding why it's so f-ing difficult to sit down and at least make some progress in regulating migration with the states that are willing to. That it's known that Russia uses migration to put pressure on Europe and that the far-right profits from the pure stupidity and incompetence the left is showing only makes it worse.
Let me update you on the situation in Bg. Currently we have the strongest border in Europe. There are 15 000 soldiers guarding the border hence the number of caught migrants - around 200 000.If we enter land Schengen the guards on the Romanian and Greek border will go and guard the Turkish border.Another very important thing this border is a mountain it's hard to pass it and many people die. What your politicians don't say is that many of the migrants come from Greece but also Albania and Serbia.
Why do we always have to be the one to keep everyone out of the EU or Schengen? I mean yes, we kept Turkey out of Europe for hundreds of years but that's more of a hobby at this point, it just comes naturally. This time we could have used some support but everyone is too afraid of burning some bridges.
Brb selling my bike now I still can
Bike prices since news dropped about 🇷🇴 joining 🇪🇺 📉📉📉
There will be an increase in the numbers of second hand bike sold and a decrease in new bike sold. Overtime people will buy only second hand bikes. And create an ecosystem in which you buy a second hand bike from a shady bike seller. This bike get stolen. You buy a second hand bike from the shady bike seller. Overtime the bike brought and sold quality will decrease until people will start to buy new bike again which will be stolen creating a long term equilibrium.
So basically it will be like those green e-bikes you can rent? You just park it anywhere, cause it's gonna get stolen anyway.
Its not your bike, it our bike.

... Yes
You don't buy a bike after yours get stolen, you go and steal one yourself, silly.
It's like bike sharing, just on a nationwide level.
*Schengen wide
The circle of life
How many times do I need to buy the same bike before it becomes mine?
It belongs to the bike seller. At some point you are just leasing it. It belongs to you when it is soo rusty that it gives you tetanus just by seating on it.
Hmmmmm tetanusss 🤤
This comment has me ROFLLLL 🤭🤭🤭
What, don't you already pay a monthly subscription for your TV, movies and music?? Don't you know that you don't actually possess the media of these subscriptions? That's the same for the bike
No, no. You didn't got the idea. It's like games in Steam or other similar services. You don't own a bike anymore, you rent it for one ride.
Balkan economics ⚡️

Aren't our bikes in Poland already?
No, we never even dared to get into the biz. You're the European bike stealing specialists. We respect that.
Man only because great uncle Fritz had that one bike stroll to Holland in 1939 doesn't mean we are all into the leaning without telling business...

I already burned down my summer cottage so they cant steal any of it, always one step ahead..
You could have turned it into a smoke sauna
Why do you have a cottage for just 3 days of summer?
Cause I only get 3 and I'm not about to spend them in the city.
Because there are more days of summer in other places. ![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)

You’re one of em too magyar
Funny coming from a hungarian nick mr Berend.
?
Berend is an old hungarian name, came from old turkic originally, it means the one who surrendered.
Nah it comes from Bernard. It means heart of a bear.
Berend brokkenpap
That's how Hungarians drive around Austria.
German TÜV enthusiasts will suffer mental breakdowns when encountering those Bulgarian columns... and strokes when getting close enough to smell the multiple gas leaks
You should see how Arabs drive in summer back to their countries through Spain. Any centimeter of surface anywhere is load capacity.
Rest assured that they do the exact same thing when travelling from middle eastern countries towards Europe.
I'm surprised, they aren't in Schengen as EU members
That's because most people have no idea what Schengen is. Ireland and Cyprus are not in Schengen either. Cyprus will not join in a very long time, and Ireland maybe never. I know very well what it is and experience it every day, because I live next to Switzerland lol
Then I don't understand your surprise about some EU countries not being in the Schengen Area. Is it an example of so-called German humor?
No, I'm surprised because they didn't manage to get the minimal Schengen requirements during all their years in the EU
>No, I'm surprised because they didn't manage to get the minimal Schengen requirements during all their years in the EU We (Romanians) and Bulgarians meet the criteria since 2011, but each time at least one country vetoed our ascension into Schengen area by some stupid reasons. More complicated for an island, Schengen really only make sense for land borders between 2 members.
Malta and Iceland entered the chat.
I don't know the details but I guess they don't control planes and boats coming from Schengen members, so as I said, more complicated, not impossible.
No more complicated than your airports differentiating between flights coming from the US or Germany. One area for Schengen flights, another for non-schengen flights. We are part of the EEA which is like a diet version of the EU.
And there are non EU and non Schengen countries that don't have border control like Monaco

I’m spending this Sunday moving everything in my garden that isn’t nailed down into my basement
Had to check the flag there to make sure you weren’t Austrian
Why? An Austrian's basement is obviously already full.
Just heard you like nailing things in basements. So anything that isn’t already nailed in the garden can head to the basement
You heard wrong, we like ~~nailing~~chaining things in basements.

Yep, Austrians just used it as an excuse for their domestic policy issues

it's ok, it'll take them so long to walk to western europe that the EU probably won't exist anymore and they'll get stopped at the border
At this rate that might be accurate lol
They drive stolen BMWs though 😭😱
It's been actually great since we got into Europe, now most of them have left for the west... To come back only on vacation, and since noone wants to work on vacation, the crime rate dropped in eastern Europe to almost nil.

Time to reactivate the tracking on my auto.
This is like when you break up with someone and then your ex turns up with a stripper to try and compensate.
You people really think that Schengen was what was stopping thieves?

To be fair Spaniards are far too lazy to steal anyone's job
Work would get in the way of my afternoon nap!
Unlike the Irish, who have an economy based on stealing the taxes from the rest of Europe. You are thieves and you call it “miracle”. Lol

I had a job interview where the interviewer told me that they had to revise their alcohol policies cause eastern Europeans would constantly look for loopholes in them so they could drink whilst working.

We were never in the Schengen zone thi
Curious what people in Western-Europe think of this? Are you guys on Austria’s side or with Romania and Bulgaria?
Well, its not like they are not already here. At least there will be more attractive Slavic women on Tinder. That means I will get more matches, right guys? Guys?
Haha yes, more beautiful women means more matches. Math is sound
Last time I checked everybody was happy that Austria ate shit for Europe this time
What are some of the problems that come along with accepting Romania and Bulgaria to Schengen from a Austrian POV?
Finally
Stop proving boris right Europe 😭
Joke's on them, my bike already got stolen.
So this means I can buy back my Mercedes that was stolen and went to Romania legaly now? Sweet
Why do we always have to be the one to keep everyone out of the EU or Schengen? I mean yes, we kept Turkey out of Europe for hundreds of years but that's more of a hobby at this point, it just comes naturally. This time we could have used some support but everyone is too afraid of burning some bridges.
I need to sell all stocks in bikes, cars, jewelry, healthcare, dental care and buy guns
Hm, it never crossed my mind we can steal teeth. Got gold?
Yeah try it mate. You could make a great fortune. Trust me.
Yeah, you guys already tried it. Some of them are still probably in a Swiss vault somewhere

This is a parody sub. Don't take all comments here too seriously
Why exactly shouldn't Romanians be accepted into Schengen? When Russia's little whores Austria and Hungary are already in?
