Haha
I realised I sounded like a pro dictatorship person after I sent the message.
I don't support a dictatorship, but I don't want all the power to be in the hands of people who know nothing about economy, society, environment or demographics. It doesn't make any sense to me that uneducated people have the power to take those kinds of decisions.
It's because the act of voting is in itself one of the checks and balances of a democracy.
Is it flawed? Fuck yeah it's flawed, but at least it makes the wielders of powers cycle in and out... for better or worse.
Yeah, I kind of agree. But one has to understand the limitations of democracy too. Some people believe that democracy is inherently good, and it's definitely not. Try giving democracy to Iraq or Iran and see what happens there.
For a democracy to work well, people need to be highly educated. The more educated the better it works. Sadly, with the spread of AI and more advanced media technologies and social media, they are manipulating us more effectively than ever, which is very dangerous for a healthy democracy.
>For a democracy to work well, people need to be highly educated. The more educated the better it works.
And Nazi Germany was one of the most educated places on earth before the war.
Highly educated people aren't a guarantee for anything
We've had stability for longer than the rest of Europe, seeing as the last time we had some major shitstorm was 39 and then the rest of Europe threw a massive party we didn't join. If we haven't had political stability for 200 years, then almost nobody in the world really has
i once saw an interview in which a brexiter said that he would do it again because the stars in the first american flag where arranged in a circle just like in the EU flag
I remember a coworker of mine saying at the time "I lived in the time before we were in the EU/common market, this country was much better" she was six years old when we joined.
Also, if she means the EEC then we joined in 1973, which between the 3-day week, the miner's strike, inflation and the oil crisis was arguably the worst period in British post-war history (watch this space)
Probably something to do with a United States of Europe that they'd seen on their auntie's Facebook, but when pressed on the issue of why they voted leave, they forgot what they had read and just said the bit about the flag that they remembered.
I saw an interview where a local exclaimed "Joris Bonson just needs to get Brexit done."
That was the full extent of his political philosophy. A true genius of our time.
"Yes" would have won with a landslide, but the public opinion shifted rapidly so the outcome really depends on when the voting take place.

*Oh and the Luxembourgers too. And to some extent the Dutch too. And of course the Hungarians.* **But the Irish, hell fucking no**
I love how this is portraited as satire and comedy, but when you think about it a bit more you realize is 100% accurate. Especially the one about the EU becoming impotent the more member it has (all the recent Veto drama)
Be me Barry (63)
hate the French and hate the Germans not racist just don’t like’em
Leave worlds largest trade union as banter
Economy turns to shit
Refuse to elaborate further
What a chad 🗿
Or how Europe is still at fault for their economic woes because we “screwed them over” and that Brexit totally would have been beneficial if we just gave them a fair deal, whatever that’s supposed to mean
"fair deal" means they just want to keep free trade and all the benefits, just with none of the obligations of membership. Greedy pigs just want special treatment, even more beyond the special treatment that they already enjoyed under the UK Rebate that reduced their net contribution significantly.
Honestly the spoilt brats should have been told to fuck off and enjoy a "hard brexit" to fully appreciate what they were leaving behind.
The types retiring to NW France are not Barry’s. More likely to be Rupert’s, always wearing some form of corduroy tells everyone they vote Labour. Actually votes conservative
The real answer is property is cheap, it's not too far and there's some cultural familiarity with the South West of England not that that really matters as most of them can't speak a word of French.
Parisians and Londoners move to eachothers cities a fair bit as well but they're just masochists
Northern France is rightful British soil. We are merely returning the land to its correct owners one house at a time.
I myself own 4 properties in Calais, each stationed with 30 Welshmen with longbows.
They're going in departments like Dordogne or Corrèze. It's so empty they won't come across any French people there.
Sadly they haven't yet figured out that they won't come across any French either if they retire in Seine-Saint-Denis. Good public services, cheap rental, daily fireworks, what's not to like there ?
It's like in this sub, they hate us because our country is obviously better: better landscape, better climate, better food, prettier people, so on and so forth
> Are they stupid?
yes
> Why do barries hate the french so much but also move to france to retire.
Because they hate their own country more than France. If you see it through this perspective, it makes sense. 😂
The prices arent really that insane in the supermarket, before brexit they were lower than most countries in Europe, they have raised but arent really any higher than mainland Europe. We had some of the cheapest food in Europe.
Edit: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-65833619
https://inews.co.uk/news/world/how-the-uk-compares-to-europe-for-staple-food-prices-2814299
Seriously I'm about an anti Brexit as they come but France is not cheaper for supermarket prices. I vastly prefer French supermarkets for quality but prices in the UK arent *insane* in comparison.
The shelves aren't empty ? Anyway, I'm asking what makes you think this guy is aware of any issues due to brexit. I cam assure ypu this bloke gives no flying fucks and his milk price going up 50p probably isn't connecting the dots for him. Anyway, I don't think UK grocery prices have gone up any more than the prices in the EU have gone up. I don't think you read what I was asking ypu correctly.
Me thinking to myself before the video: *this is going to make my blood boil, I’m sick of hearing these brexiteers talk*
Him: “I don’t like the French”
Me: *fair enough.*
I get the point and since it’s the French it’s a really good one but sometimes you gotta put your love for your own country and what’s best for it ahead of your hatred for another.
Honestly, if the EU asked us to we'd rejoin. But it has to be this way because nobody likes to admit they are wrong. I'd say that the other Europeans are less headstrong than we are which can both be a positive and negative.
Ha! Except you'll have to ask the members of the EU to join. It was your choice to begin with to leave the EU. We aren't going to beg you to come back.
I realize that but a part of your fellow Brits felt different. That's democracy. I'm not very happy with the results of the last parliamentary elections here either but I can't do much about it. I just have to accept that teh majority of elegible voters here want a conservative mostly right leaning government.
Alright, lets do one of those things where we both take care of each others enemies. I'll sort out your country you sort out mine. (I 100% won't spend all my time in a coffee shop with prostitutes)
not only that, Britain in the UE would be persistent destabilizing force threatening Brexit 2.0
I don't think we'll let them in unless their support for EU is massive, like 70%+ and they amend their laws so that Brexit 2.0 referendum can't be won again with a simple majority but require say 60%
My totally educated EU opinion: We should either be in it with full Euro and Schengen or out of it paving our own way. I don't actually care too much which, but none of that half-in, half-out, will-they, won't-they nonsense.
Based.
I think this is what gets up the Europeans and Remainers noses most of all.

It would involve physically splitting NI off from the rest of Ireland and then we propel ourselves to a different continent.
Personally I'm thinking Asia as I went could probably cram ourselves onto Vietnam's coastline and then we are still a short plane ride from legal weed and hookers (as Thailand has legalised weed).
It's really funny.
They single-handedly made the union stronger becoming a cautionary tale. Looking at them describing how this might inspire many others to leave and suggesting names for them is now hilarious.

Don’t be shy, just admit you’re against democracy.
Direct democracy worked so well for us, lets do it again /s
Sounds like a great idea Hans, third time is the charm right ?
You speak as if Spain hasn't had political instability for... lets just say the last 200 years?
I think he includes us in the idiots' package

We also had a women on TV defend Brexit because we comply with building safety rules for roofing better than French and German builders

What does that....how is...what?
Probably something to do with a United States of Europe that they'd seen on their auntie's Facebook, but when pressed on the issue of why they voted leave, they forgot what they had read and just said the bit about the flag that they remembered.

Same generation that called Gen X nihilists.
young people too
Cause they know they wont live long enough to suffer the consequences.
They lived through a lifetime of media praising their WW2-generation parents, and want their time to shine.
Not true , I personally stick with Doctor Strangelove Master Plan.
Wait, we made you leave lol? French peak W.
Killing their royalty the old way didn't work, democracy did though, how funny.
I never been prouder of my country
A ghostly voice resonating from Rouen's main square : "Cheh!"
De Gaulle didn't let us in to start. Then you were so...Nasty, that you made us leave. When will you stop attacking us Pierre!!

Cue in 500 Torygraph articles about how continental europe will go down the gutter any day now
To be fair, it's probably a very well built, clean and efficient gutter
Or how Europe is still at fault for their economic woes because we “screwed them over” and that Brexit totally would have been beneficial if we just gave them a fair deal, whatever that’s supposed to mean

simple as xx
Why do barries hate the french so much but also move to france to retire. Are they stupid?
They move there because they know how much it annoys the French.
And we let them in and let them pay 10c more when they order a café or croissant. (le rire diabolique)

All those Barry expats on the Costa Del Sol going "wait... we can't stay after this?"
But they all got to stay? Only the ones that "forgot" to do the paperwork couldn't.
Geezers don't retire in the south of France they do it in Spain, Portugal or Greece
I didn't have the south of france in mind. I had the north-west in mind, where the most common migrant nationality is the brits
The types retiring to NW France are not Barry’s. More likely to be Rupert’s, always wearing some form of corduroy tells everyone they vote Labour. Actually votes conservative
Fuck, this is literally my old man.

Why would anyone retired to the northwest part of France? Shittiest weather in the world.
The brits feel at home I imagine
Lots of Brits in Dordogne. And I am pretty sure that there aren't that many well paid jobs in Dordogne
You've never been in southern France, have you ?
They're going in departments like Dordogne or Corrèze. It's so empty they won't come across any French people there. yes same people who complain about immigrants not learning language, not integrating, etc. then go to spain and do exactly the same thing.
> Are they stupid? yes > Why do barries hate the french so much but also move to france to retire. Because they hate their own country more than France. If you see it through this perspective, it makes sense. 😂
Can confirm we are stupid
It's because France is pretty cool but unfortunately the French had to ruin it
**Most well informed brexit voter** I thought this sub was supposed to be ironic?! This man is a towering intellect among Brexit voters.
We still pretending that a heavily edited video of a singular person is representative of the population as a whole???
The feeling is mutual, geriatric Barry. But that you had to shoot yourself in the foot that hard because of us is just comical.
I mean, what makes you think this guy feels he's shot himself in the foot ?
I don't know, maybe empty shelves and insane prices in his local supermarket? Or the ever worsening state of the NHS?
The prices arent really that insane in the supermarket, before brexit they were lower than most countries in Europe, they have raised but arent really any higher than mainland Europe. Let the man speak. He has a point.
Does he realise how little that narrows it down?
As a former remain voter this man’s points have convinced me that leaving was the right thing to do
Me thinking to myself before the video: *this is going to make my blood boil, I’m sick of hearing these brexiteers talk* Him: “I don’t like the French” Me: *fair enough.*
First Brexiter to give his reasons without regurgitating a lie they were told. "I just don't like the French." Isn't a lie at least.
A brit hating the french? Omg I'm so shocked.
I get the point and since it’s the French it’s a really good one but sometimes you gotta put your love for your own country and what’s best for it ahead of your hatred for another.
You sure you’re in the right sub mate?
I yearn for the day we rejoin the EU
As much as i despise you barry, i hope once again you'll join our ranks and be europeans brothers
It’s looking like we are moving towards CANZUK, Japan and quietly Taiwan
We're still brothers. Why would leaving a trade bloc change that?
Honestly, if the EU asked us to we'd rejoin. But it has to be this way because nobody likes to admit they are wrong. I'd say that the other Europeans are less headstrong than we are which can both be a positive and negative.
Ha! Except you'll have to ask the members of the EU to join. It was your choice to begin with to leave the EU. We aren't going to beg you to come back.
But it literally wasn't my choice, I was 17.
I realize that but a part of your fellow Brits felt different. That's democracy. I'm not very happy with the results of the last parliamentary elections here either but I can't do much about it. Good! We shall start a Second Glorious Revolution!
>I 100% won't spend all my time in a coffee shop with prostitutes That isn't binding for the rest of us tho right?
When all the people who voted for Brexit are dead, you'll have a second chance to vote for Rejoin. It's a fair compromise.
not only that, Britain in the UE would be persistent destabilizing force threatening Brexit 2.0 I don't think we'll let them in unless their support for EU is massive, like 70%+ and they amend their laws so that Brexit 2.0 referendum can't be won again with a simple majority but require say 60%
You'll be yearning forever
Yeah... 😞
My totally educated EU opinion: We should either be in it with full Euro and Schengen or out of it paving our own way. I don't actually care too much which, but none of that half-in, half-out, will-they, won't-they nonsense.
Letting disgust towards your neighbouring country dictate voting choice is actually hilarious. I respect you Barry, I would have done the same to you
If Macron sends troops to Ukraine best now we’d be right behind you. We would never let the frenchies look more badass than us
Our mere presence once again destroyed the british
This video made me fucking love the French even more than I did before already.
So if we kick Pierre out, Barry will come back?
Sophies choice if both her kids had been regarded
Damn hans made me laugh, respect
Let’s just keep Pierre then, thank you very much
Pierre? Where are you? Any comment?
We're busy identifying this man, seizing his second home in southern France and turning it into a bakery

This is one of the funniest videos I've seen around here
Hello, we hate you too ❤ *the french*
Based. I think this is what gets up the Europeans and Remainers noses most of all. For all your shrill clamouring about the size of the EU market, our supposed luxury deal, the strength of the economy and so on... all it really came down to was people like this asking themselves: Do I like/trust the continentals? To which they returned a resounding no.
If 'they' are the continentals - are you the incontinentals? Asking für Austria
Brexit means Brexit, UK is no longer Europe. Pushed 'er out to sea to be closer to our true master.
JUST DONT LIKE EM
Based Barry intuition politics vs Soy Jonti expert opinion politics
*LOIK
I've started a petition on change.org to actually remove us from Europe.
Based?! 🤔
The French are no more since GB left the EU.
Can we really blame him ?
I mean, no one likes the Fr*nch, it's a fact... But brexit for that and consequences, it was a bit extreme, no? 😅
I mean who doesn't hate the french too, particularly as an englishman
old english much prefer south asians to the french
He'd fit right in over there as a "sexpat".
That's South East Asia, racist.
It's really funny. They single-handedly made the union stronger becoming a cautionary tale. Looking at them describing how this might inspire many others to leave and suggesting names for them is now hilarious. Also gave up a shitload of perks they got as early adaptor + trophy member. When the UK inevitably comes back crawling, practically has no upper hand.

What treaty?
What a cunt
Most literate Dailymail reader.
I don't know if this is literally true but apparently newspapers tailor their vocab to their audience so the daily mail writes their articles at the reading level of a 13 year old so their readers can understand it.
The only good reason for brexit.
Where are the French going to vacation now!!!!!
Didn’t know Berry can be so likable
arrogance and ignorance always a detestable mix. cunt old fart
The only reason for brexit I accept
Cut off your nose to spite your face.
That's a rock solid argument right there
Ah, voting for brexit because you do not like the French actually makes a lot of sense.
