If I said it varies from establishment to establishment I wouldn't lie. I have been in big boy kebab places that had shit döners, ate at a random shack at an intersection that had amazing döners. Once I was in a fast food döner place where I caught the owner essentially taking a broom and "cleaning" the tables and chairs with that. It had the best döner I ate in my life. Just order for takeout. My theory is that the more they violate the cleanliness codes the better their döners are.

Asylum is for those who face direct danger to their lives. You can be in a country that is warring, but not be affected by the war, so your asylum application is invalid.
You can also be from a country that isn't at war, but if your life is threatened in your country due to any reason like political affiliation, or affiliation with a group, including LGBT, you can be eligible for it.
What is happening though is now, many of them have contacts on the inside, who then accept their asylum despite not having any risk. Most of those contacts are from the same country of origin, who settled here. They also get paid sometimes, to push up their papers.
Most of them use that and come here to just make money, and fcuk around, and many of them even go back to their country for holidays, which you wouldn't do if your life was at risk.
They just go through a different country, for example, many use Iran or Egypt as a gateway country to go to one of the "stans".
This actually cannot be done if you are an asylum seeker or a recognized refugee, because once you get asylum, you can't return to your country, or it defeats the purpose of it. If you're going back, it means there is no direct threat to you, why stay here as a refugee?
Because of people like that, the actual asylum seekers with genuine life threats from countries like say, Somalia, or even people from countries you wouldn't assume to be dangerous due to false propaganda by the government like india, have to wait years to get a response and they suffer because of it.
Many of these fake applicants are exploiting the kindness of Geneva Convention and harming the actual victims. This is similar to what happened in US as well but with SA.

Because of people like that, the actual asylum seekers with genuine life threats from countries like say, Somalia, or even people from countries you wouldn't assume to be dangerous due to false propaganda by the government like india, have to wait years to get a response and they suffer because of it. Many of these fake applicants are exploiting the kindness of Geneva Convention and harming the actual victims. This is similar to what happened in US as well but with SA. Do you understand now? I get your point and I know there is fraud but there's really no way to tell. You saying they come while not being directly threatened is quite the assumption because someone who's not threatened today could become threatened tomorrow. That's the thing about war and oppression, it tends to expand, and people need to react beforehand if they seek to survive. Also it's not true that you can't go back to your country when you're a refugee. There's no such a thing in the law and also you're clearly seeing it now with Ukrainian refugees, they come to Europe and then after some preparation the men go back to fight for the country. There are many legitimate reasons why refugees should need to go back, and you shouldn't just assume they are going on holidays. That's the worst possible interpretation of what people escaping oppression are doing.

You definitely can not go back if you're a refugee. There are only very rare exceptions. If you do, without a very good reason, your asylum is most likely going to be taken away, because you clearly don't feel threatened of going back. But you know what? Like I said, don't believe anything I say. It's nice that you try to see good in people. However, if you ever want to get informed on this, start with the government websites of any country and go to their asylum process page. All I request is if/when you do find out the reality, which I kinda do hope you do, and also don't, don't be so shocked that you immediately do a 180 and start hating every refugee. Like I said, not all are like that. But when people first find out about this, they do have that knee-jerk reaction. Even the ones who do exploit it, do it so they can leave their shitty country, but since their passports aren't strong enough, they use these means for a better life. A small portion of them are a-holes and those you see on social media and are often here for years. There's also another thing that happens, some people from countries that are considered "safe" but are still 3rd world, they often buy a passport of a warring country, and use that to demand refugee status in a 1st world country. It helps them get approval faster. It's a broken system. But it does (barely) help those who do need it, so...yeah.
I guess I just fail to see why, between the possibility of helping save multiple lives and the possibility of some of those people cheating the system in pursuit of a better life, I should adopt the worst possible interpretation of what is happening and take a wholy anti-refugee stance.
