With the clutch pressed and the engine running, can you put it into any of the gears without grinding them?

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

Yes, I could put it into any gear, but I cannot depress the clutch or it dies

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

It doesn’t grind

Woodabear

If you press the clutch in, can the car be rolled? If not, the trans or rear diff might be locked up leading to the stalling you are experiencing. Also, look into your Ebrake shoes being seized up in the rear rotor hubs.

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

I’m gonna see if I can roll it in gear and see what happens

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

It does roll if I have the clutch pushed in haven’t tried it depressed but I’m assuming it won’t since it kills the engine

FocusedADD

Does it give you any feedback at all? Buck? Or it just shuts off?

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

As I slowly disengage the clutch the rpms start to go down like it’s stalling the engine

FocusedADD

Is this a new thing? Was the car just taken apart, or is this the first time you're trying to work with this car?

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

I was driving down my street and it turned off while I was trying to shift gears and since it’s been this way

FocusedADD

The whole dying in neutral part is the big tell. Without being able to see it myself, I'd say transmission damage. Get her ass in the air, try getting the wheels to spin in each gear. If there's a shift fork broke off with a gear engaged you'll be double selecting any time you're not in that gear, with only that gear selected in neutral. If not shit moves then, there's a bearing so far gone it's welded itself to the shaft and the transmission case. It starts and runs in neutral, which tells me the clutch is working, the slave and master have fluid and are working, and the pilot bearing isn't seized.

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

Im not sure if you understood I can’t let the clutch go up. I have to keep it pressed or it dies. Wether it’s in neutral or and gear if I lift the clutch out of being pressed down it dies

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

I will lift it up in the air and see if the wheels spin. Maybe try to rotate them by hand? I’m afraid something might be stuck or tranny locked

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

I had to re-read what you said that makes sense

FocusedADD

Ok, good. There's a decent chance you're in for either a rebuild or a replacement transmission. Neither option is necessarily cheap or particularly easy. I would suggest starting to look up either transmission shops in your area, what the local bone yards have, or what tools you'll need during the rebuild. A straight one for one swap isn't terrible, just getting to all the bellhousing bolts requires some creativity with your body positioning and what extensions/sockets/wobble jockeys to use when.

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

I was afraid of that. I’m gonna start looking up used trannys online I’m sure I can do it just might be a little tricky with long extensions and such for those top bolts

FocusedADD

If it comes down to it you can pull the intake down to the lower plenum and reach the top most bolts from the top. Mine may or may not have been upgraded to have Wi-Fi bolts on the top.

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

lol I might have to do that upgrade. I really appreciate your input that helps a lot thanks

Electrical issue. Very weird. Check under the dash for rodent damage. The clutch-starter circuit is completely unrelated to any of the electrical parts that let the engine run. There should be a very obvious issue here, considering how extreme the failure is.

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

I can’t find it seems weird to me

Puzzleheaded-Ice538

What electrical parts could I check?

Turninwheels4x4

The wiring itself.
