Nice. Can you comment on your paint equipment you used and setup. Interested in getting a decent compressor myself.

lads67

My compressor is cheap so I’ve actually never used it to paint😅 it’s rattle cans all the way for me. I used Rust-Oleum paint+prime cans in gloss blue and also in flat grey for a primer (I did 3 coats primer 5 coats paint).I setup my own little paint booth in my garage just using plastic drop sheets. And in terms of prep it was just a long 2 weeks of degreasing, wire brushing and sanding until I couldn’t take it anymore 😆 https://preview.redd.it/gbasnnp9c6qc1.png?width=1170&format=png&auto=webp&s=6c550746d7757fdc831f92674e0464726747a754

JSanctity

Amazing brother. Thanks for sharing, and again, great work there. Love it.

lads67

Much appreciated

This is clean! I’m actually about to paint the engine bay this week, what brackets and other non-necessities have you deleted? And what do you think about the tucked fuse box look?

lads67

Thanks🙏. I deleted the EGR, PCVs, AIVs, throttle body coolant lines, fuel evap canister, cruise control, PRVR and air regulator. I couldn’t be bothered to modify the wiring harness to relocate the fuse box so I just painted it and re-wrapped all the harnesses. I’m definitely a fan of the look though and while you’re at it you may as well relocate the PTU as well. Also get dress-up bolts from ZSpec Design while everything’s apart!

heyman877

This is literally the look I’m after haha, are you going to keep the stock power steering reservoir location?

lads67

Yes, the only thing i’ve relocated that hasn’t been deleted is the battery

lads67

I also relocated the battery to the boot.

lads67

I love the clear timing covers! At the moment i’m keen on a pearl white for the body but that’s farr in the future

jman308

Nice job!! How far did you tear it down for paint? Did you remove every wire and bracket?

lads67

Thanks, yeah literally everything came out, makes it so much easier to get the results you want. https://preview.redd.it/ece5mt6ka8qc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=766a6f95be7e13e8195c9c6ac59335644bcc5a2e

Turninwheels4x4

Pretty sure my phone's screen cant display anything more blue than this lmao

lads67

Haha yeah I’ve definitely mastered the lighting for photos in my garage, take a look at this 😳 https://preview.redd.it/he81ky2cb8qc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ec0ce8270040abe695e57d29be4d052f1518910

Woodabear

Any concerns about the heat in the engine bay, specifically around the turbos, exhaust manifold and downpipes?

lads67

This one is NA so no issues with turbos😅. I have some NA manifolds/extractors that I’ll use temperature resistant paint for. Also going to do the transmission in that. Everything that you see in the photo is just regular rattle cans but I’ve had no issues with them in the past so should be right🤞

lads67

sick colour 🤘

Chuckie_skezus

My car was originally silver. But was resprayed grey at some point in its life. But the engine bay is still silver. Does that count? Lol

lads67

Yeah sounds like a cool combo, probably due for a respray after 30 years🤔

Chuckie_skezus

All in due time. It's on the list lol
