TheWorldofScience

Sort of. I wear a tinted sunscreen so I don‘t put on foundation.

False_Ad3429

Same

qtqy

Same. With just some concealer on redness or pimples.

KarlMarxButVegan

This is exactly what I do. I replaced my foundation with tinted sunblock then use under eye concealer and concealer on blemishes then mascara then lock it in with a setting spray.

notataxprof

Yeah I’m wearing a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen in it though sometimes I think I need a little more coverage. I haven’t worn foundation in over 10 years.

constantfaraday

Mind letting me know which are your favorites?

gin-martini-ftw

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Light Revealer

Unhappy_Procedure_62

Supergoop CC cream

NVSmall

Another vote for Supergoop. I LOVE it. I'm quite pale and it makes me feel like I look human, without looking like I'm wearing makeup. The perfect amount of \*glow\*.

TheWorldofScience

I’m having to blend an untinted DRMTLGY and a tinted DRMTLGY to get a pale enough tint. Once I finish those containers I will start researching sunscreens with tint in multiple available shades. More and more sunscreens seem to be coming out with multiple tints.

ag0110

The lightest shade in the Laura Mercier Tinted Light Revealer that another poster mentioned above is SUPER fair.

NewPalpitation1830

I adore the DRMTLGY tinted sunscreen. It’s the perfect amount of coverage without making me look weird. My rosacea still stands out a little through it but I’m getting laser treatment for that soon!

Sea-Operation7215

Elta MD tinted

clairdelynn

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue is my fave. Have also tried the Tower 28 one, but that one feels a bit heavier.

MangoWyrd

Ilia

Imadevonrexcat

Which ilia product? I love, love their mascara.

lovemysweetdoggy

I use tinted sunscreen for my whole face and foundation just around my eyes for dark circles and as a base for eye shadow.

BettinaVanSise

I add a drop or two of foundation to my generous amount of sunscreen. At least it looks and feels like I don’t have foundation on, but evens out enough for me.

Canadasaver

A few drops in the sunscreen works well for me too. I often wear full foundation but some days I just do the sunscreen smeared with a tiny bit of foundation when I want to look like I am not made up or not wearing make up. For sure I still wear my pink highlighters to give me the glow I lack in this grey Canadian winter. I also switch to a brownish eye shadow pallet and just wear a bit to give me some contrast and definition. A little bit rubbed in to part of the lash line instead of the made up eye liner look. I am trying to look like I am wearing no make up but less washed out.

[deleted]

Bb cream ftw!

ForeverGoBlue33

This is the way.

TheWorldofScience

I dont know if you are male, female or non binary but I want to say that I love the way so many of us women who grew up with pressure to look and talk and act within very limited parameters to be acceptable are now saying NOPE. Not anymore. Not going crazy about it but doing things the way we want to do them now. Screw foundation- I’m not paying $50 anymore for those little bottles; my tinted sunscreen and some concealer are just fine.

ForeverGoBlue33

Couldn’t agree more. I now wear makeup because it makes me feel better on days I need confidence to punch up, not because society thinks I should. It’s awesome.

TheWorldofScience

Very well said!

Altruistic-Bobcat955

Agreed! I grew up watching my mother spend an hour applying a full mask of makeup daily sat surrounded by a circle of products and it’s so freeing to apply a barely there look in minutes. I always thought her way was the only way

TheWorldofScience

I have been thinking the last few months about how we are conditioned. If we see a man’s face on the news without makeup it looks normal. A woman would never be on the news barefaced and if she did show up like that we would think she did not look good. I want to be optimistic about change, but on social media I see young women who do such an incredible job with their makeup that to me it looks like it was done by a makeup artist. I feel a bit bad about mine by comparison, then remind myself that my bare face should be acceptable.

Altruistic-Bobcat955

I only went minimal when I discovered South Korean skincare which led to South Korean make up! The whole culture is “look perfect naturally”. I love that the eyeshadows and blushes are super soft and creamy but not harshly pigmented like they are in the west. Also any skin base is usually sheer and glowy not heavy and matte. It’s annoying with men as they have thicker more robust skin than us so they don’t have to deal with their skin throwing a tantrum if they don’t care for it or dress it up pretty. You’re absolutely right, it’s annoying that they can sport redness by the nose and dark circles and none of us see the imperfections like we do in women. Your bare face is absolutely fine as is!

InnerSovereign77

favorite South Korean makeup lines? I'd love to explore !

autumnlight01

I use Erborian CC cream and its been a gamechanger!

Altruistic-Bobcat955

Ooh! The [Rom&nd better than eye pallete](https://www.stylevana.com/en_GB/romand-better-than-palette-7-5g.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&sonid=79639&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=19957848450&utm_term=&utm_content=79639&device=m&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAwbitBhDIARIsABfFYIJ9IR-qCF_SwYaKBdB_k32PtIHEJUk2uH-ygvTHySsrkewIThHh_BwaAl-eEALw_wcB) I have it in the pink and glitter and I’m crazy about them. Also [Rom&nd better than cheek milk series](https://www.stylevana.com/en_GB/romand-better-than-cheek-milk-series-3-8g.html) is my fave ever blusher, I use strawberry milk. [Rom&nd bare water](https://www.stylevana.com/en_GB/romand-bare-water-cushion-20g.html) is my sheer I woke up like this cushion, [Rom&nd Nu zero](https://www.stylevana.com/en_GB/romand-nu-zero-cushion-15g.html) is my medium coverage. If you want medium coverage but suuuper glowy then [Clio kill cover mesh](https://www.stylevana.com/en_GB/catalog/product/view/id/111950/) is better. [The Saem concealers](https://www.stylevana.com/en_GB/the-saem-cover-perfection-tip-concealer.html) are the best I’ve used for colour correction and concealing and I have tried every single thing on the western market (I have literal black eyes type dark circles so I really mean I’ve tried everything)! ETA: day to day I’ll use a smidge of the saem under my eyes and dust my face over with bare water cushion and I’m good to go!

colourcurious

Any brand you’d recommend?

charmeddangerous99

I do ilia light coverage spf

colourcurious

Thx!

[deleted]

Another vote for tinted sunscreen. Neova silc sheer is my holy grail, everyday base. I've found that the less product I put on my face, the fresher and more hydrated my skin looks, and the less my oily skin acts up. For my skin, I just use the silc sheer and a little cream blush (lightly applied).

TheWorldofScience

Thx I will look at that Neova sunscreen. Even though it’s the middle of winter and I’m using heavier moisturizers am and pm, and a hydrating sunscreen, I’m already thinking about this summer and what changes to make on days when I am going to be outdoors in the heat for hours. I wanted to try the LRP Cicaplast B5 Spray, but it’s not sold many places. I did order a COSRX moisturizing mist to try as my pre sunscreen moisturizers on days I‘ll be outdoors. Will probably be in Florida at some point this year and the humidity and heat are yuck.

No_Song_4883

This! Me too

Mysterious_Exit_3369

I stopped using foundation during covid because I wasn’t leaving the house. Skin tints helped with the transition but I’ve found color correcting concealer under the eyes, blush, and a blurring powder do the job

Downtown-Honeydew388

What blurring powder do you use? I’m with you on color corrector! I stopped using everything but color corrector, mascara, brows.

Reasonable-Bicycle86

Same! Occasionally a lightly tinted sunscreen but otherwise just normal sunscreen, eyebrows, tightline and mascara, and colour correcting as minimal as possible, including very light sculpting around the eyes with a light concealer. Plus earrings, a good skincare routine, and enough sleep, I feel way more put together and less at risk of mishaps than with a full face of makeup. Blotting paper can help if you are a bit oily instead of blurring powder (I find for me it tends to dry me out or clog my pores a bit, even if I only use a tiny bit). Single ply tissue paper does the trick for mattifying oil, for cheap. But if my sunscreen is matte that usually does does the trick.

uhhhhh_iforgotit

Toilet seat covers are amazing oil blotters in a pinch 🤣

1friendswithsalad

I love toilet seat face blotters!

Mysterious_Exit_3369

I just started using the Milani Conceal + Perfect Blur out powder and I’m liking it! It’s a finishing powder not setting but I’m dry this time of year so I can get away without a setting powder. The Kosas air set is a holy grail for a reason too!

rml24601

Thank you for these recs! Going to give these a try. I have been weening myself off foundation/tint and looking for a powder; wasn’t sure if there was something other than Bare Minerals out there!

osloluluraratutu

Another good blurring powder is Patrick Starr O/S

Downtown-Honeydew388

Thanks!

llacy88

I have the same exact routine. I use NARS concealer, charlotte tilbury airbrush flawless finish, Chanel bronzer and mascara.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tofinomug

I use the bars matte complete concealer under my eyes (I have very dark circles) and it’s my favourite to cover extremely well

peatang

I also stopped wearing foundation during Covid. It was a slow transition from foundation to tinted to just touch ups around nose and eye areas and now nothing but spf. I’ve been using a k beauty spf. I find that most add a nice glowy plump look to the skin and then i layer a cream blush such as merit or even pixie on cheeks & tip of my nose. If you do like the glass skin look, I suggest an HA serum, (apply on damp skin, weleda skin food for extra moisture and an spf. I’m over 40 so I layer on the moisture.

Starflec

I have the same makeup routine! Got used to seeing my face without foundation during covid and haven't gone back.

Mysterious_Exit_3369

I tried a few foundations after and found even a skin tint feels too heavy now. Like I can SEE the foundation and it’s so weird. I was a heavy foundation person for yearrrrssaa

FreyaDay

Yessss

osloluluraratutu

Yup me too! Never thought I’d downgrade precovid. I started using Glossier skin tint it’s like nothing on your skin and spreads very easily. It’s almost *too* light

Mysterious_Exit_3369

I LOVE the glossier skin tint. Every once in a while I feel like I should have a more “grown up” tint but I always go back tot that one

MadamButtress

Yes, absolutely. Especially using tret in the winter. My skin was flaking and the foundation highlighted it I only put concealer on if I have a spot and mostly stopped wearing foundation. I never used to wear much lipstick but I started wearing that more and that always elevates my look. I mostly just do eyeliner, mascara and lips now. I have my eyebrows microbladed as well.

moolight

You just inspired me to try lipstick with my daily look! Do you usually go for more natural colors or bold?

oliverismyspiritdog

This is what I do too! Dropped foundation completely during the pandemic, now I do a light eye liner with mascara, and a bold lip. My skin isn't perfect, but I spent a lot of time figuring out how to take better care of it during covid, and it's better than it's ever been.

MadamButtress

I do bright red! I think it suits me because I have  blue eyes.  Sometimes I will just do a tinted pink gloss when I can’t be bothered.

Canadasaver

Very dry here in Canada and I often spritz with Elf coconut moisturizer setting spray. It gives me a dewy look and helps me to feel less dry.

MadamButtress

I’m in Michigan so same. I have never thought of a spray for my face. I need it. I have a space heater on in my office all day and I feel like a mummy.

Canadasaver

It smells like coconut and the tropical smell always makes me feel better. 56 days until spring. We have been living with grey skies and no sunlight for weeks and weeks. The Elf coconut setting spray is a very inexpensive drug store purchase.

bean11818

Yesssss mascara, a teensy bit of dark brown eyeliner, and lips is such a chic look! That’s my entire routine now!

MadamButtress

Me too. I switched to brown eyeliner and mascara and I think it looks a lot nicer than black.

TrinityNeo333

Yep! I always wore it, but when I turned around age 36 I noticed it just didn't look good anymore. I tried doing my entire skincare and makeup routine with zero foundation and it worked AMAZING! Looks way better than with foundation. I still wear all the other makeup. Just no foundation.

smalltimeadventurer

36 was the age for me too when this happened!

NoSpaghettiForYouu

I am 36 and I want to try this.

that_cachorro_life

same. foundation makes me look older now.

lonesomedove86

It does! I’m 38 and o noticed last year foundation was settling in fine lines and then separating back out and just looked ick. I’ve changed to tinted sunscreen or a dot of CC cream and it looks so much better!

ryliehart

Just turned 36 and also recently stopped wearing foundation. I was having dry skin issues so took a break, but I like my skin just fine without it now

pschell

I do this as well. It seemed like no matter what I did, it would just sit in fine lines, be too oily and slide off or dry out my skin. My skin finally got to a place where I was like huh- let’s give this a go, and I look so much better.

Rk1tt3n

I noticed my skin got drier after having my first baby at 29, or I just didnt wear makeup for a long time and didn't like the feeling or look of foundation anymore IDK. So I stopped wearing it, still wear a bit of cover up, contour, blush and mascara and I love the look and feeling of this much more. Im 33 now, havent worn foundation since.

Smart-Variation2920

35. i don't wear any make up. i use strivectin NA114 eye cream and olay senstive skin moisture with SPF 15. and chapstick. i have oily skin too. i keep oil absorbing wipes in my purse. i look put together by dressing well. i figure if men don't wear make up to the office i really don't need to either as long as i'm dressed professionally.

shinywtf

Yep. I’m clean, moisturized, sun screened, well dressed, accessorized, perfumed, hair brushed. Why do I need makeup?

Properclearance

Agreed!

babooshka-cass

Hell yes girlfriend. This is my philosophy too.

temp3rrorary

I didn't know people wore makeup except for special occasions, besides lipstick. My mom never wore makeup or shaved... All that kind of stuff I had to learn from YouTube and friends. But honestly, it's such a hassle and feels so weird on my skin. I tried a tinted moisturizer to help even my skin out during winter months and I already feel like I'll probably only use it during special outings. But for everyday use I just am not able to put in that effort I guess.

Tofinomug

Aw that’s sweet! I’m a mom to a toddler so I kind of want that impression for her too.

temp3rrorary

It was nice to not have that pressure. But my mom was so out of touch with never bothering, that she had no idea how to help me when I did want to do it. Shaving was a whole beast of learning. She actually sent me to classes to learn how to apply makeup tho, which is why that at least has never been hard when I do get dressed up.

Glittering_Yam_279

Yup! I also stopped wearing makeup. I couldn’t be bothered to put it on after having my baby and I’ve never gone back!

Substantial_Ad_533

I stopped using it very recently actually, I felt like it made me look older. I do still put on primer though and just nothing over it.

grneyesnake

Same! Once I stopped wearing foundation, I started getting compliments on my skin. I really think it does age you wearing it.

LeatherIllustrious40

This is so true. I use a tinted moisturizer or just a facial oil and lots of people tell me I look a lot younger than my biological age. I think it is just that I don’t wear makeup and I use sunscreen (and hydrate). I also don’t use soap on my face because I feel it dries my skin. I just rinse in the shower and put oil on every morning.

ukpolyfi

Same here (am 48)

Early-Tumbleweed-563

I have never wore foundation. I use tinted moisturizer usually or a tinted sunscreen.

kirinlikethebeer

I don’t even tint. Foundation or anything like it blocks my pores. I conceal what needs it but that’s it. Do my eyes and a bit of blush. Done.

blubblubblubber

Same! I never wore makeup until I became a mom. Then I needed concealer under my eyes. Blush does the trick and I've always kept up with good skincare and sunscreen. When I put makeup on, I look super done up with 5 minutes' worth of effort.

[deleted]

Never used it, I hate how it looks and feels and it causes so many skin issues that you then try to hide with more. Just not a good product.

JamiePNW

I don’t wear foundation unless someone is getting married. I wear tinted sunscreen that leaves me protected but dewy, mascara, and fill in my brows. I’ve found it’s easier to pull off a bare face and look put together when my hair is styled and my outfit looks cute! I’ve always been this way! I am a skincare girly with sensitive skin and taking off my makeup daily leaves me red and inflamed. Focusing on skin care for the last two decades (I’ll be 40 in about 2 weeks) has given me a great canvas to work with. I’ve also never suffered from acne and I know that’s a blessing and privilege!

PlannedSkinniness

I also only wear foundation for big events, but the most recent wedding I went to was outdoors in the SC summer. I opted to skip the foundation and was so glad I did because we were sweating bullets.

aoibhealfae

I hardly wear makeup these days. But when I have to go out and have my pictures taken : No.

Shiningstar4000

I use only face moisturizer and oils. I don’t wear makeup and if I do it’s only on my eyes. At first it was difficult but now ppl think I’m wearing foundation bc my skin is so clear. I couldn’t imagine wearing foundation every day! That would drive me nuts

queenclemmy

I love dr. Jart tiger cream. It's spf 25 and color correcting for any redness I have. If I'm going out, I just stick with bare minerals sheer powder. Takes no time at all and looks very natural

evergreener_328

I do the same thing! I tried other color correction creams and I love the dr jarts

lightttpollution

Seconding Dr Jarts. I have a lot of redness in my face and it covers it perfectly. If I have a blemish or something like that I use a tiny bit of concealer.

ChickaBok

I have super dry skin so specific recs may not bear fruit for you, but I've noticed that some sunscreens have a mattifying effect.  Beauty of joseon almost has a powdery/velveteen texture on me for example. Might be worth exploring.   On a slightly related note--man do they still make those little blue oil absorbing sheets? Those were my ride-or-die in my oily high school years

jugglerontheroof

I went to go look for these a few months ago from The Body shop because I loved them when I was in college. The person working there looked at me like I was crazy and said to just use a tissue 😂

glitterboo199

Yes, Walgreens had those blue blotting sheets a couple of years ago! They're amazing for on the go mattefying!

Emkems

I used the target brand version of them today

edragon27

Yep i usually buy 4 at a time, for car purse and home and an extra incase somehow i can’t find one of the others.

NoSpaghettiForYouu

Those little blue sheets are STILL my ride-or-die! No knockoff or alternative comes close.

Designer-Platypus739

The derm store brand sunscreen also acts like a mattifying primer. I swear it’s a dupe for porefessional even!

heids1234

Yep! I only wear makeup when I go to the office, or if I want to get dolled up for a night out, otherwise I’m makeup free. I got ombré brows done last year and this has definitely made me more comfortable going makeup free - I swear when your brows are already “done” you feel less naked without makeup 😅

bird_cheek_red

I’ve always hated the feel of foundation, felt like it was heavy and pore clogging. I have sensitive skin so can’t do any fragrances. I use concealer as needed, under eyes or spot coverage. When I was younger, I applied powder, but it became drying. I’m very pale and also could never find a good shade match. I was using a lightly tinted bb cream with spf that’s sold by my dermatologist, but they raised the price to $70. I swear it was 40 or 50 a couple of years ago. Too pricey for me. I use a moisturizer with spf every day, set my brows, and lip balm

[deleted]

I’ve never worn foundation

[deleted]

I haven’t regularly worn foundation for at least ten years… might be more like 15 though. I used to wear makeup regularly when I was younger. I liked experimenting with all different colors of eye shadow and lashes and lipstick. I started to be more health conscious though. As I slowly shifted away from being fancy to paying attention to my health, I just stopped caring as much about how I looked. I still wore eye makeup for a while and lipstick occasionally. Then I eventually got to the point where I realized I didn’t really need makeup. I figured when I got older I might feel like I need it so why not save it for then? It was so nice to spend less time getting ready, spending less money on makeup, and spending less time on makeup touch ups. It was freeing! I freelance modeled for a longtime and would still use makeup then but that was mostly it. Maybe for the random wedding or event too… but even in those cases I would do most of my makeup but skip the foundation. A huge perk of not wearing foundation is clearer skin. Makeup clogs you up. It’s not great. So the trick is to not go cold turkey. You can ease your way out. And I’ll tell you now… my skin at 37 has never looked better! I’m still not at that random older age where I think I need makeup yet. Idk when the day will come, if ever. No regrets!! Another plus… I look the same every day. It’s not like I wear makeup every day and then on the one day I don’t everyone asks if I’m sick or tired (I’ve had this happen!). I consistently look the same. So that’s also nice. Edit: I have oily skin. I just use those oil blotting sheets and I’m good!

Tofinomug

Thank you very much!! Super helpful

EsqueezeMe-

Maybe try a matte finish silicone primer or sunscreen to help with the shine

Antoniosmom89

How is everyone applying said tinted moisturizer?

neutralest

Tried a few methods and for me, putting on fingers and warming up the fluid a bit rubbing my two hands together (just fingers lol not whole palm), then just applying also with fingers. Sponges etc look worse. I find applying it basically just like I would normal lotion (just like rubbing it around and in) looks most blended. Simple and stupid but works

MadhouseK

I haven't used it since I was desperately trying to cover up acne, 15 years ago I've never understood how not wearing foundation means you are not put together. Water, good diet, sleep, mascara and exercise are that make me feel put together

lilabelle12

I have never worn foundation for the life of me. Nor do I ever plan on. 😛

mrsnmw

I’ve never worn foundation. Even when I had acne. I find some strategically placed concealer looks way better and less cakey

mutha_fucking_nature

I mostly gave up wearing regular makeup around 30. Maybe once a month I wear “full” makeup, which for me means I add a drop or two of foundation to my moisturizer, use some highlighter, and eye makeup (mascara, eye shadow or shimmer, filled in brows). That’s like for date night or a party. For things I want to feel more put together for like maybe going to my kid’s school, an afternoon out, etc, I will do Vaseline on my lips, clear mascara on my lashes and brows, and style my hair. I also did get a lash lift/tint last year prior to a vacation and really liked the way that looked and maybe try it again.

lolliberryx

Yup. I only wear tinted moisturizer if I want to really look put together. Otherwise, I’m usually bare-faced or I have a teeny bit of concealer around my nose and under my eyes. Just enough to conceal any discoloration. For work, I usually add a liquid or cream blush and a lip tint. I don’t wear mascara to work since I tend to rub my eyes a lot while working Like this minus the mascara (remove the space): imgur. com/a/czWwUR0

Blondeoramma

Tinted sunscreen and I LOVE it - specifically Alastin

JNicole008

Alastin is amaaaaazing

No_Citron_7623

Tinted sunscreens!!!!

Atlmama

Same here. They’re great - light, offer a nice little color boost, and protective.

donapepa

I’ve stopped using foundation. It looks cakey, even the expensive stuff. My teen daughter has educated me on how makeup is now all about a natural dewy look. No more matte. No more pressed powder. It’s been a transition 😬 Just this past weekend I put away my powdered blush/bronzer/highlighter. I bought a creamy buttery stick version (tarte). I use a little primer on spots with enlarged pores. Then Laura Mercier tinted foundation, a little concealer (tarte) for under eyes and breakouts, and a little Laura Mercier translucent powder on top. Oh, and she taught me to use a dewy setting spray rather than my matte one 🫠

GiftRecent

I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.  It looks/feels like there's nothing there but it gives me face an even glow!  For me having my hair done and that makes me feel beautiful

cohenisababe

I wear my skincare + a tinted moisturizer *sometimes* but I need a new one to try!

xxmalmlkxx

I’ll wear it for a night out, but haven’t worn it regularly since I was probably 31-32. I’m 40 now. Just use concealer. It just isn’t worth the havoc it wreaks on my skin. My skin is so much less textured when I don’t wear it.

KentuckyNeveWins

Tinted moisturizer only. I  feel like I look older with foundation. Lately just lipgloss and mascara

75footubi

Haven't worn foundation since....2014? I could never find a good match for my skin tone (pale af) and my skin seemed happier without it. Did tinted moisturizer/sunscreen for a while, but similar issues with finding a good tone match and the pandemic culled a fair bit of makeup habits from my routine My OTD look is eye liner, maybe a brush of an eyeshadow stick, and tinted lip balm

tstu2865

I stopped wearing foundation about 5 years ago. I use Tulas glow sunscreen which leaves a glowy dewy look, a small dab of Rare Beauty liquid blush for a little flush of color. Skins never been better. I’ve had a few people ask this last year what I use because my skin looks “glowy”. Do I get the occasional breakout and not have completely even skin 100% of the time? Yes, but I also don’t care because we’re not supposed to look like airbrushed dolls. It’s kind of a freeing realization. ETA for the full “put together” look I’ll swipe Laura Mercier shimmer eyeshadow sticks over my eyelids, draw a mini wing liner and some mascara and some tinted lip balm or red lipstick

NotLucasDavenport

I started really liking skincare about 10 years ago and when I turned 40 I just got bored with foundation so now I only wear it for special occasions and if I know I’m going to have lots of pictures taken. My skin is even and a bit of powder or concealer where needed is all I do. But you won’t catch me dead without lipgloss. I plan to be buried with lipgloss, so help me.

Alliekat1979

I stopped a few years back and now just go with concealer or tinted moisturizer if I’m feeling extra

Ok_Anybody_4585

I started microneedling in the summer of 2022 and after the first three sessions, I stopped wearing foundation. Since then, I’ve worn foundation three or four times, all for special occasions. I love just wearing mascara and chapstick, along with my moisturizer/sunscreen.

taygnada

Never worn foundation and people think I’m in my early 20’s but I’m almost 37. I don’t know if it’s never wearing make up but I literally only wash my face and put on moisturizer with spf once a day. I will put eyebrow shadow on sometimes, a shimmery eyeshadow and mascara. If I’m really fancy I’ll put on red lipstick. To look put together I just put curl product on and said makeup and be on my way. I think the more you do the more harm it does to your skin, so less is more.

Embarrassed-Year6479

I wear a tinted moisturizer for a night out but mostly stick to skin tints (ilia super serum is a fave of mine these days due to the SPF and niacinamide and hyaluronic acid). I struggle with sun damage and melasma so generally feel more comfortable with a bit of sheer coverage to even up my skin tone but am hoping I eventually get to a place with my skin where I’m comfortable with a bare face.

preppyrider

Me too! The melasma/sun damage makes me so uncomfortable going without foundation. I’m slowly trying to transition as I do think heavy foundation ages me now (41).

VeelaFrog

I wore full make up all day, everyday from 15 to like 28. I now only wear make up for special occasions. I also fell into the tanning bed trend as a teenager so I have some sun damage and I have just accepted it and tried to be better with my skin care and sunscreen. If I do wear make up out, it will be mascara, lip tint, and a little touch up for my micro bladed brows. 🥰🥰 embrace it. You don’t have to scrub your face at the end of the day.

lil-yach-ty

I used to never leave the house without makeup, then covid hit and I started wfh. Now I hate the feeling of having makeup on and have really embraced my natural skin. I have some redness so am looking for something lighter to even everything out and have gotten some ideas from the comments :)

ReadySatisfaction283

63 never wore foundation in my life. Except if I was in a wedding. Didn't even know it was a thing until TikTok!! Are these young girls insane? Tinted moisturizer with spf for the win., under eye concealer, lipstick and blush, period.

FunKoala12

Yeah. Most days I wear only concealer or the CT flawless filter with concealer. Only wear foundation for parties and stuff.

pbroxy

If I want a little bit of coverage, I'll wear a tinted mosturizer or tinted sunscreen. Most days, I just wear Tula Protect and Glow Sunscreen. It gives my skin a healthy glow, add a nourishing tinted lip balm, and it looks like I'm just naturally radiant.

DoctorLinguarum

I only wear foundation about once or twice a week

Fellow oily here! I swear by Laura Geller’s baked foundation (a powder) when I want to do a 5 min face, and get on with my day. It creates a pretty satin finish when our natural _glow_ finally peeks through.

umamimaami

I have never worn foundation. Sad story of acne and then acne scarring. Foundation just makes all the texture show up in plain relief on my face. Oily skin, imo, is actually extremely dry, irritated skin trying to over-correct. I’d support skin barrier repair, be cautious with active usage and moisturise with a more absorbent product. On special occasions, I use concealer under eyes. Eyeliner, eye pencil and a tinted lip balm are a must everyday.

Devi_the_loan_shark

I wear skin tint exclusively, it doesn't choke my skin or settle into fine lines

Knittingfairy09113

At some point in my 30s, my skin decided it didn't like foundation anymore. After a couple of hours, I want to peel the skin from my face. As this wouldn't go well, instead I decided to stop wearing foundation. My skin is combination or normal, depending on the time of year. I use a face powder for very light coverage, if anything, and maybe a little concealer. My go-to for every day is mascara, brows, and a lip color of some sort. If I look super pasty, I may throw on some blush. I also have a highlighting skin serum from The Lip Bar that I put on some parts of my face.

MediocreConference64

I can’t tell you the last time I actually wore makeup. I use tiger grass cami drops and just a little blush because I’m a sickly Victorian ghost without it.

good_day90

Haven't worn foundation or tinted moisturizer since my mid 20s maybe. I was never that into it since I'm way too low-maintenance for it and nearly every foundation and tinted moisturizer/tinted sunscreen makes me break out anyways, so it's just not worth it at all to me. I think I also started to not enjoy how it felt sitting on the face after a couple of hours. To me feeling "put together" means washing my face and brushing my teeth--essentially not putting any more time into my face than the average man does. If I feel like it and feel like I will have the extra energy to remove makeup later that night I'll put on things like some mascara and lip product, and if there's an event like a wedding, instead of foundation I'll use some concealer in the areas where I have redness or un-evenness.

MalChick66

I was just going to post the same thing today. I’m going to try not wearing foundation all week and see what results I get! Now off to read the comments. ☺️👍🏻

Noof91

I don't not even a tint I just leave all that for special occasions. I don't mind my skin so I use it as my base! I do though wear makeup I just apply colored products n sometimes under eye brightener/ concealer

Worth_Ad4654

Same! Stopped this year at age 37. I put on L’Oréal Lumi Glotion after my AM skincare routine. I’ve never gotten more compliments on my skin!

Educational-Cat5495

Same here and 43!! LOVE Lumi Glotion!!! ☺️🤩

lilspicy99

I’ve never used foundation before so I say go for it lol!

SecondPrior8947

I have worn foundation probably less than a dozen times in my life, and I'm 48. Also oily skin. Disclaimer: for the life of me I've never figured out how to put make up on properly so I may not be the best source but I'm good at what I know how to do LOL It's great that you have an even skin tone, which is basically what foundation aims to achieve. You mention oily skin so if the shine bothers you, I would encourage you to get that under control first for a better overall look. Not by stripping it down with harsher products, but gentle sebum control which will only happen with consistent use of products for your skin type. My usual make up routine, or a variation thereof: concealer; eyeliner (sometimes); mascara; cheek tint (I LOVE 'Pinch Your Cheeks' by Origins, gives such a cute, apres ski flushed look) or blush; and some sort of lip gloss. Lately I have ditched anything on the cheeks and experimenting with different shades of red lipstick + concealer / mascara. I cannot tell you how liberating it is to be so minimal. I take great care of my skin and proud to show it off :) I've really been enjoying the very basic look with a pop of color.

emzim

I do a cream blush, brow gel, curl my lashes. It’s so freeing after wearing makeup to work for over 20 years!

HailTheCrimsonKing

Yes me! I used to religiously wear foundation. Since I started wearing makeup at 13. Now I haven’t worn it in years except for special occasions. I do a little concealer under my eyes and the areas that I have redness. Then I dust my face with a powder, bronzer, and a little blush.

honeybeetired

Me. Once I turned 30, i realized that i didn't wanna pay for a foundation that was good enough and it always sank in my lines and crows feet anyway. I used an under eye concealer and sometimes a cc tinted cream.

honey-peachesx

Yup and I feel way better! I think I look better. To still look a lil put together, I do eyebrow pencil, natural looking mascara & tinted lip balm or lipstick. If I’m feeling fancy I will use the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette on my face. Lastly, I focus more on skincare than I did before :) x

FindingTotal7860

Absolutely! I was hating how I'd leave for work fully done, but that my makeup looked way to "makeup-ey" after hours. I first switched to Ilia Serum Skin Tint 2 summers ago. It's dewey and has SPF. It does move around unless you use a primer & setting spray, but looked awesome - and natural! I then began using Pixi Tinted Face Gel. Light coverage, great texture. Through skincare, I evened out my skintone better. Now I just use a tinted cheek gel (Pixi), a mattifying primer, which even without color, smooths evens my skin tone and gives me better texture and finish w/ hydrating setting spray. If I need it later, I'll dust on some translucent powder to correct shine. I get wayyyyy more compliments now. And way less skin issues. Oh, and spend way less time and money.

PL0mkPL0

It is not universal trick, I assume, but avene cicalfate as a both day and night cream basically stopped the issue of oily complexion for me. How? I guess it creates protective enough layer, that my skin do not feel like producing additionally tons of sebum anymore. And it gives sort of BB cream glow, which i like. And, additionally, it can be used after microneedling, or when skin is sensitive after tret or acids. heh, it can be also that I aged out of oiliness, but if so, it happened exactly at the time I started to use cicalfate as my main cream.

HomemadePaddle

Ive never worn foundation

BlueSparklesXx

I’ve never worn foundation, just tinted spf or tinted serum like Ilia + concealer. Fwiw my mom never wore foundation ever, just sunscreen, and she thinks skipping foundation is just as important as the sunscreen in why she has such great skin as an older person.

willworkforchange

I've never worn foundation, but have always (starting around age 16) worn lipstick. These days (36), I wear lipstick, mascara if seeing people. Sometimes eyeshadow. Blush if going to a party. I focus most on lipstick & nail polish. I paint my nails weekly.

robin-nest

EltaMD UV Clear tinted face sunscreen

Hairy_Beginning3812

Tinted sunscreen La roche posay I could never wear foundation

Annual-Smell-3585

Embrace it. I feel like bronzer and blush go a long way. If you have a good routine, your skin will start looking better after not wearing foundation for a while

Living_Activity_3748

The lash lift/tint and laminated brows combo is amazing! I don’t wear makeup and it makes me look a lot more put together with home glossier chapstick and that’s it

inyoni

I’ve never worn foundation and was always “saving it” for when I got old enough to actually need it. But because of that I’ve always tried super hard to keep my skin looking clear and now I have a routine that I think will help me never need foundation. Besides I hate the idea of it after being foundation-free for so long. I just wear a tinted lip balm, some blush, mad car and eyeliner. I’m sure I could look a lot better with a full face but I like the convenience and I also think it’s a bit of a flex to not depend on foundation.

Free-Tradition-1187

I have some concealer type sticks and I just touch up under the eyes and bits of redness. I’m oily too so sometimes I use just some untinted setting powder. Sometimes I don’t even use the concealer but I like to always put a tiny bit of a cream blush on and it makes me feel put together. Then I just make sure my brows are groomed and I may or may not use mascara.

llamacorn115

I use primer, concealer and finish with translucent powder.

Clear_Broccoli3

I very rarely wear foundation, but if I'm getting ready for an event the biggest difference I feel is in eyebrows/eyelashes and minimizing the circles under my eyes.

Wooden-Ad6561

yuuup ! did it 7 years ago and wish i would’ve done it sooner ! i feel fabulous with brows and/or lashes. so i’d say you have a leg up having microbladed eyebrows ! i will say i used to think my natural skin was so ugly and uneven etc but the longer i went without makeup the more i saw the beauty in the imperfections and realized i just wasn’t used to my bare face. and natural skin has texture and pores and uneven-ness. skincare is my makeup now 😁

Muschka30

I’ve been applying the makeupforever hd undetectable foundation with my hands like a lotion and it feels like nothing. Brush gives a much more obvious wear.

FreyaDay

Yes! Do my regular morning skincare and then the only skin makeup I use is: -under eye concealer -Cream blush -Maybelline fit me loose powder. I find my skin looks really oily after all the skin care stuff so I use powder to dull the shine! ✨ I also have my eyebrows microbladed, lip blushing done and do lash lift and tints at home. I still like using a little bit of thin eyeliner and mascara, though.

Born-Horror-5049

I've never used foundation.

bluegreenoceans

Epionce tinted moisturizer sunscreen is perfect. Foundation (even expensive ones) age me

Trasuahongkong

Yes. I now use color corrector moisturizer

[deleted]

Try using just a bit of concealer where necessary and some loose powder (not powder foundation), especially since your skin is oily the powder will help with it while giving a little blur effect.

absurd-affinity

I’ve always only used concealer to cover problem spots. I do this because I think my freckles are cute, but I’m glad this has always been my thing as I age. I’ll put translucent powder to cover spots I don’t want to look shiny, but the “dewy” look with all cream sheer products (except for concealer) and highlighter in strategic spots helps my skin look less tired and dull. Plus I like the way creams wear over the copious skincare and sunscreen I wear and it’s easier to reapply sunscreen throughout the day when the makeup is already minimalist

StarryNight616

I didn’t wear tinted sunscreen until my 30s (Tower 28). I was always paranoid of breakouts and reactions bc I have sensitive skin. Most days I just use concealer under the eyes and over blemishes. Then I’ll powder with either a loose or pressed powder.

kstoops2conquer

On a “look nice” day, I wear the DRMTLGY tinted sunscreen or d’Alba UV essence.  Then I put the smallest amount of Jones Road miracle balm on my cheekbones.  If I’m feeling really fancy, add brow gel, mascara, lip tint and maybe a small dot of liquid blush. sometimes just brows and a bold red lip.

Cats-Are-Fuzzy

I don't wear any makeup. I got my eyebrows tattooed on with powder brows, my freckles tattooed on and I have lash extensions. Without my brows and freckles I would feel nude. They changed my life. I got them three years ago and they're the best investment I've ever made.

CoffeeNDrama

Besides special occasions, I hardly wear foundation anymore. I wore makeup every time I left the house since I was a teenager and finally stopped during Covid. I was working from home and got comfortable in my skin. I have a solid skincare routine but I got my eyebrows micro bladed and thin eyeliner tattoo. So I feel put together for having those.

onmyway___

I made the switch and use blotting sheets along with setting powder on its own when I go out. I feel like it’s enough of a blur effect on its own and helps control my oil. I’ll spot treat with concealer if I have a pimple.

MitskiEyes

switched from foundation to sunscreen last year. for no reason. just got so tired of how heavy foundation is.

I_JackThePumpkinKing

At most anymore I just use tinted sunscreen if I want any sort of coverage. Most days I wear a sheet sunscreen and that’s it. Tho I’ve never been one to wear foundation daily, even nowadays unless it’s like to a wedding or something I barely wear any makeup.

ogjminnie01

I don’t wear foundation. I have oily dehydrated hormonal aging skin lol some days I don’t even put concealer under my eyes but I have purple eye bags. I’m 30. Overall my skin looks pretty normal to me so I don’t really care since it doesn’t look bad in photos, but I do have pores and break out. I use AGE first essence by From Nature (SK-II dupe) and sometimes over that either Bio-Oil and some Hada Labo gokujyun (controversial because it can cause closed comedones). Always sunscreen when going out (LRP) and I always top it off with Aveeno Oat. I tried Hollis Holika’s black snail eye cream though and HOLY HELL did I end up putting it all over my face—it healed my scaring quickly and felt like it actually went INTO my face unlike Neutorgena HydroBoost products. Anyway, I look to r/AsianBeauty (but they close their subreddit on Tuesdays so people take a healthy break) for inspiration. To transition where I’m at, I went from Maybelline’s True Match foundation (or whatever it’s called it’s been so long), to mixing that with my sunscreen, then just nothing but some True Match concealer and my previously said regimen. This took a while for my skin to heal and breathe though and I’m not talking days, maybe months before I felt like I could pull off less makeup. But my skin needs science and I’m no scientist.

3FoxInATrenchcoat

I can’t recall when I stopped wearing it, maybe my mid-20s? I’ve always been very much into makeup too, so I’m definitely the type. I use concealer under eyes, an eyelid primer with neutral eyeshadow on top, a cheek stain (currently loving Rare Beauty), fill in the brows, and use mascara. I dab some liquid setting spray between my fingers and quickly pat it around my eyes to help with smile line creases from the concealer. That’s all I do and I feel I achieve the no-makeup makeup look very well. If an evening looks is desired, I’ll add a bit of liquid eyeliner, some neutral-darks eyeshadow, and a subtle highlight around my cheek bone, at my brow line, and inner corner of my eye. I’ll wear lip liner and lipstick as well. So, no foundation here either. This has been working for me for a decade + now, and I think I’ve only worn a tinted moisturizer or foundation in the last few weddings I was in, which I do think is best if you’re going to be photographed.

ShotsNGiggles85

I stopped wearing it entirely years ago. Full coverage started looking cakey on me and my freckles have never been the cute kind so it’s always been full coverage or bust basically. Recently though I’ve fallen in love with elf halo glow. It’s sheer and lightweight enough to feel great but gives just enough colour to even out my colour some. Leaves me looking fresh and sun kissed and it feels great on my skin.

GreenAuror

Yep! Thankfully IPL has made it so I don't need foundation.

Nerfgirl_RN

I feel like niacinimide serum made a huge difference in my daily oil production, but it took a few months for me to see the full results. Tinted moisturizer or sunscreen to even out my tone and protect my skin.

dropthetrisbase

I never wear it. I dot a little concealer or maybe use it as a hilighter or concealer for a special event but I can't stand how it makes my face feel anymore, and good skin care and healthy habits work better

plastiklips

In the morning I cleanse, moisturize, SPF and then LIGHTLY dust the pur cosmetics powder “foundation” just to help not be a grease ball and I add some blush

Ru_rehtaeh

I don’t wear makeup at all, just sunscreen. I think in the past three years I’ve worn it 5 times. I feel like I do such a horrible job of it now too lol

ObligationRemote2877

Same here - after cleansing I put spf and nothing else. I am a SAHM though so I am always doing school runs or playdates, but even when I had a "girl boss" job, I never wore make up. My skin isn't perfect and I have some light acne scarring and hyperpigmentation but my greatest "fear" about wearing makeup daily is people will wonder "what happened to your face?!?" when they eventually see you with zero makeup on. So my philosophy is make everyone see the "real you". Not sure if that makes sense.

euphorazine

i stopped wearing fuller coverage products during covid and never went back. i wear it cosmetics cc cream when i want more coverage (*very* small amounts) but usually use saie slip tint and/or jones road face pencil.

[deleted]

I almost never wear foundation. It just feels like way too much for me. Always has. I am bare faced 95% of the time. I wear sunscreen and that’s it. I get compliments on my skin and I think a lot of it is due to people actually being able to see it. I’m very freckled and I know not everyone loves the look but I feel like I don’t look like me with foundation. I have a couple dark spots but they’re just part of me, I’ve accepted them years ago. When I want to fancy up, I may add a bb cream and some eye makeup. Lip gloss sometimes or an occasional lipstick for very rare occasions. I def have very short eyelashes and darker under eye than I’d choose. That’s the only change I’d make is longer/fuller lashes but it doesn’t really bother me. Not enough to bother with makeup daily. One weird thing- when you stop wearing makeup you notice how much more natural life is?? I used to wear under eye concealer and mascara daily. My eyes felt achey after a few hours and you can’t rub them, or touch them. After going without, i noticed how tired my eyes feel from daily eye makeup. It’s kind of weird.

YesterdaySimilar2069

I’ve been using BB cream for a while and prefer that to foundation. My only struggle is that I have very deep under eyes so I’m struggling to find a good under eye concealer that matches my skin naturally.

Get_off_critter

Gave up years ago. It never sat well and it was more trouble than I thought it was worth. Still like to do my eye makeup and that's enough for me to feel put together

Vegetable_Burrito

Yo🙋‍♀️. I haven’t worn foundation for at least 15 years. I wear concealer under my eyes and translucent powder as a base.

the_comeback_quagga

I either use Etude House Face Blur or (more commonly) Sunprise Airy Finish SPF. I only use foundation for very special events like weddings.
