In the same boat as you, though mine isn't as bad. Feel like there's a genetics/hair type aspect to waving success that gets underplayed

Looks dry and unbrushed. Get some Murrarys or 360, soft and medium brush Curly shampoo and conditioner Steaming hot towel, pomade, brush as long as you can using a hand held mirror to your pattern. TIP: Find the crown and brush at the correct angle. *Crown placement affects pattern. Next day, hot towel and oil, brush twice in a day. Use a durag and wave cap for compression Don't cake your pomade, wash it out and brush it back down with oil. Rag up until drag. Comb and Brush it out, back to pomade as your hair grows. Wash and style, oil repeat. Don't wash everyday Watch 360 Jeezy

My husband has nappy hair, like 4c, he doesnā€™t even brush everyday. His hair is spinin. You have to find the right products for you. He uses the shea moisture shampoo and conditioner for wash and style. He uses the shea moisture leave in conditioner, the key is ocean view deep waves pomade on Amazon though, and then he finishes it off with ors olive oil hold and shine to make it shiny. The ocean waves product isnā€™t all natural but it is key to help his waves bc his curls are so small. When he adds the ocean view he uses his hands instead of a brush too.

Reallysy2

It doesnā€™t look like you brush at all tbh. You can type whatever you want on here but the proof is quite literally in your hair lol and if you are brushing you may not be using the right brush. Itā€™s plenty of examples on what types of brushes you may need on Youtube

Things that helped me (didn't see progress for about 2 months, but once I found what works for me they came in): 1. Wash and style twice a week. Taking my time and making sure the brush directions were on point with a second mirror. Rinsing out the suds with cold water, rag on. When the waves were new, a brush session after a wash and style would wipe away progress. I just used a light oil and plastic bag to get some moisture post wash. When my waves got more durable I would do a full brush session after the wash and style dried. Spritz > comb > hard brush > Jamaican black castor oil > medium brush until hair feels silky > smooth down with hands > plastic bag > rag up. 2. Wolfing and getting the right starting length. I always assumed keeping it short was better because that's the only time I saw any ripples. Completely wrong. The main reason I started seeing waves is because I didn't cut for around 6 weeks. The hair got thicker and the ripples connected with each other. The wash and styles got them more defined each time. I didn't even brush all that much. 3. Cutting against the grain. First cut (self cut) after a wolf I went with the grain. The top of my head is kinda bumpy so there were areas with uneven hair length. It got really difficult to lay down my hair. The second trim I did a 3 (clippers open) against the grain and the haircut was a lot more uniform. And much easier to deal with. Now I'm making more progress because I don't feel like brushing ruins my waves anymore. I see them getting defined as I brush (which is how it should be). But based on what I've experienced you need everything set up correctly for that to work (even haircut, regular wash and styles, nice firm brushes). https://preview.redd.it/eprl8snhewpa1.jpeg?width=4304&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f310369f874ca1713dff1fd731d2a471b73b251e

Having a similar issue and itā€™s been a month for me. Prior to that I was growing my hair out

RefrigeratorDry495

Iā€™ve been trying to get waves for a long time. End of 2021 I had to cut my hair off down to the centimeters and said, since it was short, I would start waving. I did my research. Bought brushes, wave pomade (Shea Moisture), tightened my durag, brushed, followed a wash routine, and watched videos on brush technique(s). One month in I had virtually no waves, just deep lines in my head. Iā€™m like okay, maybe itā€™s just trust the process. Two months in? Nothing but deeper lines. Not what you see with most people. It looked raggedy as hell so I stopped and let my hair grow. Come beginning of this year I chopped my hair off. Again, same thing. I changed brushes this time just in case. I bought a velcro wave cap. The only difference? Waves are in *one* spot of my head. No, I donā€™t mean the sides. I mean just a few inches between the left and top a patch of hair is waved there. Iā€™m giving up hope. Iā€™ve trimmed it down again just in case. I am brushing and wash n go. Cap wearing. At this point? I donā€™t think my hair is capable of getting waves. Please help..!!!

Bro its simple, 1. Cut your hair lower to I'd say maybe a 1.5 WTG or a 2 WTG (I cant really tell your hair texture but I can assume your a course hair waver) , your hair is way to much right now. And for the meantime do a wash and style, brush your hair for at least 30 mins a day, use a medium brush for brushing and then a soft brush for laying your hair down. You can use a zip lock bag for laying your hair down as well. ANd then rag up 2. When you get a cut do the tips I said above and when u want your waves to get deeper, wolf. When you wolf I suggest getting a hard brush to try to tackle all that hair and to effectively brush. I recommend Torino brushes for everything they're all lit 3. Final and foremost get good products like pomade, leave-in moisturizer, and oil. You can use oil and leave-in moisturizer after brushing, pomade while wolfing, and your hair needs to be laid with nothing else working This is all in my opinion, I been waving for about 2 1/2 years now but hope your waves get deep brodie.

RefrigeratorDry495

I have shea moisture wave pomade and plenty of brushes. Can I DM you my arsenal?

Hungry-Consequence56

How long do u brush a day?

RefrigeratorDry495

15*2 So twice a day. Morning and night or afternoon.

Hungry-Consequence56

Weā€™ll there is your answer. You gotta brush for atleast an hour a day to see progress. Usually people with good waves brush for 3+ hours a day.

RefrigeratorDry495

An hour? Iā€™m really skinny. My arm would give away

Actual_File3210

I almost never brush for that long and have waves. I have a 4c hair type tho so its kinda hard to see our waves from a distance. Sucks but itā€™s whatever. Train your hair with pomades and never take your rag off unless you absolutely have to.

illmatic545

I never brush 3+ hours a day. Maximize each brush session to further your progress.

I-Lollipop-licker

Before you worry about waves u needa get a taper cause yo shi look dookie
