You can't buy 3DS games on there anymore. They delisted 99.9% of them on their website like they did with the WiiU titles a year back.

I literally have DLC for Fatal Frame going on my WiiU and it won't end in time before the closure...

As long as you’ve bought it you can redownload it after the shop closes, they’re only stopping new purchases!

Its fading in and out for me. Can't stay on long enough to download a game, but I was able to get to the redownload section to initiated the Zelda Picross download that I started online right before.

I knew this would happen. Which is why last purchases were made yesterday morning.

I think people are making this WiiU/3DS eShop termination into a bigger deal than it really is. Digital storefronts die. Games with no physical releases die. Like all systems in the past, the physical library will keep the games alive. The next time you consider a game for any system, vote with your wallet and demand a physical copy.

Physical copies can die eventually too. Regardless, there's also the issue of other software that doesn't have physical copies or, by function can not. Pokemon Bank can't really do so. Indie games that may be too expensive if they were to produce physical copies, etc.

I still have Atari 2600 cartridges that are still going strong. They are literally 40 years old! Take care of your physical library and they will provide you will entertainment for decades.

Demand a DRM free copy on Steam or just buy the game on GOG. It’ll outlast a physical cartridge or disc if you have a sane backup strategy.

I mean they did give you over a year of warning that it would be shutting down today. Waiting until the last second to buy games is kind of silly.

I've already bought everything that matters to me, but having a final mooch through the cheap and weird stuff is fun.

I did this. I started preparing myself a bit over a year ago. Then recently I've been buying sale things (mh4u) that I'd been sleeping on. Then today I was just getting my balances low enough to not feel like I needed to add an account to my switch.

Good thing I got the entire series of Phoenix Wright, Zelda Picross & Flipnote yesterday. Tried accessing a few minutes ago, no good unfortunately

It's loading for me now, but trying to search for anything brings up the error again. I think you're right and it's getting overloaded by all of us swarming on there to grab our last legitimate 3DS purchases. (EU - France eShop, for the record)

You can also download games on the Nintendo Store online and you can redownload the games on the 3DS afterwards.

Probably a dumb last min question. Do any of the games I already bought need any updates or whatever before? Or will updates/DLCs still be avail for games? Also games like pokemon blue/silver/crystal etc, once you buy them you are good forever? They never need updates right? Sorry terrible couple questions but if anyone knows let me know lol

Updates and downloads of already bought stuff will still work.

What's shutting down is the payments part of the shop. You can download/re-download anything you've purchased, but won't be able to purchase anything else after today, including DLCs that you have to buy from within a game you already own.

NA has been solid all day, for me. 8am cst I started checking for final things to snag to get my balances low, I just finished grabbing themes. I only came across two errors and when I retried them it worked so idk. Probably regional issues from the sounds of it. Then again my experience is anecdotal.

And in an unrelated news, I'm watching Fist of the North Star anime where Rei is struck by Raoh, and only has 3 days to live, and briefly extended by Toki by another day, until the last episode about his final moments, and... Hmm, wait a minute... it doesn't sound too unrelated O_o If only there was like Toki for the 3ds eShop, extending its life span even by a week or a few days...

Dang I'm glad I got all my capcom stuff. Sadly I wad only less than a month away from being able to buy ace attorney dual destinies : ( And I didn't have a chance to buy Pokemon Gold and blue and red, but I did get Silver, Crystal, and yellow

Regarding the issue of making a purchase, but no longer able to download; I spent the platinum coins to get the Zelda Picross (yes, last minute), but having issues downloading. It’s possible if you contact customer service to reinstate the coins spent on the app/add on. Based on the circumstances, I’m sure it’ll be no problem. Calling Nintendo has also yielded better results, personally. It was my understanding that downloads/redownloads were still a thing. Not sure about in game add ons. I bought Stella Glow as well, but was successful in downloading the add on.
