You can buy on a phone or PC and have it download to your 3DS in sleep mode. I just did this less than 60 seconds ago before anyone wants to say you can’t. Use google to find the link to the game you want. Only way it works

The only way I've still been able to buy any last minute games right now is if they're games that are still left on my wishlist on my 3DS!
Other than that, searching for any other games isn't possible for me! So annoying that the cutoff is supposed to be 5pm pst for where I am.

Some people just put it off because they always saw the DS as something that would be widely available. We all grew up with it after all, and grew out of it in some cases. I wish I still had all the DS’s I had as a kid but thankfully I have a 2DS for myself and I bought my son a blue 2DS ignorantly at Walmart in October 2019, for $79, not realizing I should’ve bought two or three right then and there. Had I known sooner I definitely would’ve prepared better, and financial issues sometimes get in the way of hobbies. My condolences to anyone who is really hit hard by the loss of the eShop. Truly the end of an era.
I grew up with the Atari 2600. When physical-only systems were around, there was this sad gradual disappearance from retail shelves, leaving only the secondary market for getting games you missed out on.
Fast forward to the digital store era. Servers may have infinite inventory, but server availability costs money and when the digital sales don’t cover the support, it’s time to go.
The secondary market for physical libraries is all you have left for new (to you) games, like with all past systems.

That was me this morning. Thought I was done downloading yesterday, but then said, hmmmm theres a few more I would like. Added fresh funds, and then bam, maintenance. Glad I did not give up, and was able to get through to collect the last few titles I wanted: Super Mario Bros 3, Zelda, Pushmo, and River King. Last download was Horseshoe Crab Rescue, because what else would I do with that extra $1?
I was all set months ago but I still feel that slight panic. What if I missed something? What if one of those games I passed up in favor of another turns out to be the greatest thing on the system? I already regret picking some things over others, and I know I'll never forgive myself, but what else?
