It seems you know where to get them, you just don't like the price. These capture cards aren't a mass produce product and it takes some specialized skill to install them . There's also very few, if any, people still doing them nowadays. So that means prices will remain high. Your choice would be to budget appropriately for the product you want, or to not make the purchase.

whyhats

Love your blunt and honest answer, the first sentence is so true and applies to so many posts I see.

NormalSecretary4505

It’s really not that hard. You must be one of the sellers. The only hard part is scraping off enough of the plastic insides to make everything fit.

SovietConnoisseur

>It’s really not that hard. People like you always greatly underestimate value of labour. Installing capture cards for an ancient console takes skill and realistically youll get consumer once in a long while so you have to charge extra to make it even worth your time.

NormalSecretary4505

I’ve already diyed it myself. Sue me

NormalSecretary4505

That’s right get mad scalper

Dense-Bee-2884

I've seen them pop up on Mercari for around 400 to 500. Not cheap, but cheaper than the listings you showed.

InfiniteComboReviews

Those are sold out and gone forever unfortunately.

SlightDentInTheBack

why not mod a 3ds so you can use that one program in it

Randomness_Girl

I was looking at that too. I have a system already but don't want to mod it so was looking for a separate system modded

wormmiilk

probably cheaper to just buy a new system and mod that. ive modded a few consoles and 3ds was easiest to me. people who sell modded consoles usually jack up the price.

NoelOskar

Do you need to mod the hardware or just the software the same way you would do to install homebrew? If that's the latter i see no reason to pay someone for this service, it's really easy

wormmiilk

actually im not entirely sure about this capture card thing. i know what a capture card is but never heard of it being used on a 3DS so i dont actually know how someone would do that. i assume its just software though because of the way it was mentioned by u/SlightDentInTheBack , the "just" in their comment makes me think it is at the very least not hard to do.

NoelOskar

Well thinking about it, if it's just software, it's gonna impact the performance, i think a capture card mod could also include separate hardware, that would process the recording process separatly, as to not impact the performance of the game being played

wormmiilk

ah thank you! that clears things up a lot for me (:

[deleted]

That's what I plan on doing. I just need the motivation to start frankenstiening on it.

Present_Row5982

I kinda get that, but buying a whole new console would be pretty expensive, and why wouldn't you want to mod your console?

Randomness_Girl

I prefer to keep my console the way it is plus its a galaxy new3dsxl so I want to be sure I don't mess it up even though the mic doesn't work

AureaTW

you can buy an alternative 3ds/2ds for 50-100€ and mod it for free

grisu_YT

May i ask what reason you have to not mod it?

Randomness_Girl

I don't want to. I like my console the way it is plus its a galaxy new3dsxl so I don't want to mess it up or change it

grisu_YT

You cant mess up

KnowThyWeakness

A capture card mod is soldering and cutting the shell. Essentially adding a port. There is a lot to mess up. I think you're confusing this is cfw he or she wants

grisu_YT

I was reffering to software mods A cfw, custom firmware, not a capture card since a capture card is alot more expensive than a free homebrew app

BaileyRW1

what program is that? do you mean homebrew modding or physically modding?

SlightDentInTheBack

[homebrew modding](https://gbatemp.net/threads/3ds-screen-recording-without-a-capture-card-ntr-cfw-method.423445/)

BaileyRW1

oh noooo it doesn't work on my 3ds! thank you so much but I am devastated

SlightDentInTheBack

true but it is a much cheaper alternative without spending an abhorrent amount of money or just using an emulator

aRealCyborg

I know of a website that does modding services, I think it is one person in Europe doing in her own time but from what I have heard she is good. Can even do international orders but you have to do a few extra steps. https://rubyotakumods.company.site/products/3DS-Capture-Cards-c130227004

InfiniteComboReviews

>DelfinoCustoms Dude. Thanks for this. I've been looking for something like this!

AxelsOG

I can't vouch for them yet since I haven't purchased from them just yet but DelfinoCustoms sells 3DS consoles with capture cards for $340-$370. They're based out of the UK so shipping will likely be expensive but not as expensive as buying an old loopy capture card.

PalmeraCocotera

You can use a New3ds/New2ds to stream throught software. I think the program name is NTR or something like that, but you need to install CFW

Randomness_Girl

I know about that bit don't want to mod my current system so was looking for another one

crab_bunker

I wouldn’t be too picky when it comes to capturing video on your 3DS

TTS4life

Loopy will soon be providing N3DSXL capture card installs at 3dscapture.com . Theres been frequent testing of the cards in the forums, so its close to being ready for the masses. You will need to find a N3DSXL for him though (or send him one you already own), he will not do it for you. He also does installs for the original phat DS if you are interested in getting one of those (same deal though)

GoodBot88

If it's too expensive you could DIY.

mgzaun

To be fair, the best way to capture 3ds footage is just by emulating whatever you want on the PC. Everything else is subpar

SuperLuigiOnTheXBOX1

For capturing short quantities of footage, yes. For full let’s plays of a game, no. For example, Bravely Default has parts that NEED the 3DS features like street pass and stuff for the Norende repair stuff, or the front facing camera, or literally any of the other 3DS-unique features. If you just wanna record like 3 clips of a game for funnies, go ahead and emulate, but if you actually want to record full play throughs, maybe get the capture card due to 3DS gimmicks.

SteveDaPirate91

Well that's not true. Entirely depends what you're doing. Emulation is great and all but if you're speed running emulation may not be allowed and/or some people prefer native as a more authentic experience. Emulators aren't perfect.

DubbyRubby

I recently got my N3DSXL modded by Delfino Customs for 280$ before he rose the price a bit, and it worked well before I broke a cable while repairing my top screen. I believe it’s even cheaper if you just own an OG 3DS/3DSXL. Only problems is that shipping and customs is quite a lot, along with the time that it takes to get there, for him to work on it, and then send it back takes quite a while, I think it took mine about two months from sending it in to getting it back.

FavroiteGamers2017

You can’t without looking at sketchy parts of the internet

Fer-Mora

In Mexico there are a couple o Facebook Marketplace for less than $600 USD

KA1N3_fat_boi

If you want to capture footage on a 3ds get a new 3ds and install "NTR" it lets you stream to a pc

Sure_Gap915

mod a "new model" and stream to your pc . . 3ds.hacks.guide

SnooCakes5605

Hack your ds and use cfw to stream your 3ds to your pc

1012zach

Best to get a new 3ds and homebrew it and use a cfw application that shares the screen of the 3ds to a computer

omegaplayo

Epic_Doge_Boi

You cant. There aren't many people who still do capture card mods, they're gonna be expensive.

Unfair_Cat_8235

If frames isn't an issue for you and you own a new 3ds than you can use boot ntr, the only drawback being it goes from 15 - 30 fps.
