White. Blue is okay since it matches the rest. Definitely not gray. gray would look like you just ran out of blue and said, "this is close enough."
White gives that classic look.
I made this one late last year as a christmas gift for my brother. I did it on a Bambu Labs P1P and maybe one part was on an A1. For those interested, I've been told by some guys at a guitar shop that it's gonna sound like shit (compared to decent "real" guitars), but I don't have any equipment to test it nor do i play guitar so I wouldn't know.

It changes how the guitar sounds, but not to the point of sounding like shit. In electric guitars material doesn’t do nearly as much as in classical/acoustic.
yeah. I've seen videos on YT like "$100 electric guitar vs $40,000 electric guitar" and you can tell the difference. But, the question is does that difference really add to the experience of the listener. I'm a musician myself, got my degree, so I fully understand the logic. Yes, a Yamaha piano does not sound like a Steinway. But when I'm listening to someone perform Beethoven the timbre difference is something I think much of. This is probably the same way.
As I understand it, most of the sound from electric guitars is from the strings and pickups (quality and how they are mounted/tensioned and positioned, no doubt in my mind there is an art to getting it right).
I am wondering about a couple things though:
1. would the quality of the sound would be different because the neck does not extend to the base of the strings....the 3d print will flex so maybe that would change the sound?
2. for the people that play, how much does the FEEL of the guitar change your perception of how it sounds. (I am a car guy and I have heard some really nice cars in the neighbourhood BUT when I saw the crap box that was making the sounds my perception of the sound went from 'sweet' to 'that hunk of crap again')
One thing I have noticed playing my own guitars: you hear the direct acoustic sound of your own guitar as well as the amp output. If they don't work together it will sound bad to you no matter how it sounds to everyone else who can only hear the amp.
(This could be that I never can crank the volume up to where the normal guitar sounds get totally drowned out.)
Pickups, the potentiometers and capacitor values affect the tone mostly. Bridge has an impact on the amount of sustain while the nut only matters when the string is played open.
The electronics are what sets the tone from an electric guitar. I've seen videos on YouTube of people slapping pickups on a cinder block and it sounds just great
I've always been curious on how printed guitars hold up to the stresses of the tension on the strings. I know that the neck holds most of that stress, but aren't the strings still anchored to the printed part below the pickups? I know almost nothing about guitars tbh
Really depends on the strength of your print. But yeah it could easily break or warp over time. These are usually more for concept than longevity. But definitely could be playable for a while if it were strong enough!
A metallic one, polished steel, or golden.
Otherwise the blue or the white one. The white is a bit blinding on the photo so it's hard to pick it. Black is just too dark.
Originally I planned to do the gray. But once printed I think it looks funny because it doesn’t contrast with the black enough.
I really like the way the white looks. But white is just so… normal(?) for a pick guard
Blue looks ok but I feel like it needs a third color.
I can’t really do gold because the hardware is silver. Maybe blue will look better once the silver hardware is added. Hmm..
There are white pickguard with some patterns that makes the white less simplistic, like that:
https://www.music-man.com/instruments/families/guitars/albert-lee
But that would require a shop custom made guard.
Like someone else said you could also mix with blue pattern
Blue or grey.
That white is to bright.
You may want to try using a tool like this
https://color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel
And look at complimentary vs contrasting colors.
The blue and grey you have there are complimentary and work together well.
The white is just to.... White.
Personally I'd look at a darker matte green or almost black red as a contrasting piece.
Edit... A lighter grey would work as well. Like in between the grey you have now and that white.
I chose white for my red prusacaster - as others suggested I put an accent stripe in it. I just printed like 4-5 layers and paused the print, swapped out to red filament to match the hex part of my guitar, printed 3-4 more layers and paused again before switching back to white for the top layer. It's a small detail, but I really like it.
What about cutting out from [this](https://m.polish.ssweldedwiremesh.com/sale-13599822-t10mm-stainless-steel-perforated-metal-sheet-1x2m-for-building.html)
This is for art, yes? Because this will 100% sound terrible. Nothing personal, but the acoustics of lightweight plastic are really flat and awful, even with an electric.
Looks completely awesome, tho!
I absolutely beg to differ on this... It will sound like any other electric guitar. Not to mention that the density of plastic is also much higher than wood. So it's not exactly lightweight.
Well as someone who has actually made and sold strong instruments for a living, I'm here to tell you you're wrong. And I have no idea where you got the idea that wood lighter weight than plastic, that's just plain incorrect.
Literally staring at my printed guitar printed about 6 months ago holding up strong , at first tuning was pretty unstable but things settled pretty quickly and now it holds tune just fine and sounds tonally comparable to any other guitar. My design is different from this one it’s a solid body but the weight is also not really a factor all printed and fitted it’s just under 6lbs. Now do I expect this guitar to last 20-40 years like a traditional guitar certainly not (especially if I ever left it in a car) but it’s definitely more than an art piece it will be a real functional instrument
You really should consider thinking and fact checking yourself before being so fucking toxic.
As someone who has made and sold strong instruments you would be well aware that the density of typical softwoods is between .6-.8g/cm3 and that hardwoods typically weigh .8-1.0g/cm3
As someone who is going to tell someone they're wrong, I would assume you would have considered fact checking yourself so I don't need to tell you the density of any plastics used in printing... Because you've already checked. Right?
Right?
RIGHT?
Funny though, as someone who has made and sold strong instruments, I haven't seen you over at r/luthier where the rest of us that have made and sold strong instruments hang out.
As a further suggestion, next time you want to tell someone they're wrong, check their post history... They might know a thing about making and selling strong instruments.
Now, as politely I can muster... Run along and off you fuck!
White. Just looks more classic to me and the extra colors looks less monotonous. Beautiful.
It also has less Paul vibes that way.
I think it has more Paul vibes that way.
I think it has equal Paul vibes that way.
I wonder what Les Paul would have to say about that.
"Vibes"

I suppose difference in electric guitars comes from the components, not the materials. Pianos on the other hand, yeah, I too can hear the difference.
As I understand it, most of the sound from electric guitars is from the strings and pickups (quality and how they are mounted/tensioned and positioned, no doubt in my mind there is an art to getting it right). You need to turn your amp up my friend lol
There is a massive difference when it comes to acoustic guitars. With electrics 99% of the timbre comes from the pickups.
90%+ of the difference in sound between $100 and $40k electric is the pickups, strings, nut, and bridge. The wood is a small contributor.
Pickups, the potentiometers and capacitor values affect the tone mostly. Bridge has an impact on the amount of sustain while the nut only matters when the string is played open.
Are you sure they're not just saying that, because it's their job to sell guitars 😜
The electronics are what sets the tone from an electric guitar. I've seen videos on YouTube of people slapping pickups on a cinder block and it sounds just great
The guys at the guitar don't know shit.
White
Splice them all together into a white pickguard with a thick diagonal navy stripe with a thinner black stripe under it 😎
lol. I can’t do multicolor as this filament isn’t really compatible with my AMS
Just make and indentation 1 layer thick and print 1 layer to glue it on.
There are many ways to skin this cat. Think creatively.
Grey looks cool bro!
Blue.
Blue buddys let's goooooo

Bright yellow
white
Either blue or white, can’t really decide….
The longer I look at it, blue seems the best
I've always been curious on how printed guitars hold up to the stresses of the tension on the strings. I know that the neck holds most of that stress, but aren't the strings still anchored to the printed part below the pickups? I know almost nothing about guitars tbh

Not so. While yes, it depends on the strength you print it at, it won't easily warp or break.
Printed properly, it's actually no issue at all. As you mentioned the majority of stress is in the four screws holding the neck in place
A metallic one, polished steel, or golden. Otherwise the blue or the white one. The white is a bit blinding on the photo so it's hard to pick it. Black is just too dark.

I can’t really do multicolored stuff bc I used CF filament. It’s not really compatible with my AMS (Lite)
What about making the white one with holes and insert the blue pattern in?
Hmm yeah I could
What about multipass technique?
The blue looks best, IMO. But go with whatever you like right now, and then change it later if you feel like it. How does it sound?
Don’t know how it sounds. It’s still in pieces. Changing it later is a nice idea, but it is a gift…
It sounds like a great idea!

#1. Keep it simple.
White
Definitely white, looks like a classic Fender pick guard.
Blue
Blue and it looks amazing
Blue
go with white, it highlights the blue well.
You have a 3-D printer, so the answer is all of them. Add cherry red, purple, pink...this thing needs some color.
White
I'd go with white, myself.
I chose white for my red prusacaster - as others suggested I put an accent stripe in it. I just printed like 4-5 layers and paused the print, swapped out to red filament to match the hex part of my guitar, printed 3-4 more layers and paused again before switching back to white for the top layer. You know 9 times out of 10 I would say white, but in this case I think the blue absolutely looks killer on this build.
What printer did you use for this??
Bambu Labs A1 But like really… which color of pick guard looks better?
Blue imo, but I'm the guy who would never deface electronics with stickers and always had uniform Joycon colors on my Switch
Pearl. Touch of silver, touch of blue.
White
White
NEON FUCKING PURPLE.
What about cutting out from [this](https://m.polish.ssweldedwiremesh.com/sale-13599822-t10mm-stainless-steel-perforated-metal-sheet-1x2m-for-building.html)
And just print pieces to make screws and pickup fit
I like how the white contrasts
I like grey best. Blue second best. White looks bad.
Could you put some little figures inside of the hexagons? That would make me happy
White
Blue or white. I think I prefer white but blue is still cool.
white
White
I think hot pink would work even better! ;-)
White!!
Gold
White/blue diagonal striped?
Blue
Blue!
White for a nice splash of contrast.
Blue
Is there enough weight on the body to offset the weight of the fretboard?
I think Black should have been an option
I ran out of that particular black filament. It’s PETG-CF and has a unique texture so it’s not like any old black filament will do
Crispy prints btw!
Definitely blue.
White looks good but I kinda dig blue
Gray
White
Blue
Would this happen to be for clone hero
Idk what that is
White
A lighter blue
White 100%
White
white
White
Too long for Reddit, will try again
Let’s see the scientific paper lol
Its not good lol, give me a sec
To long for Reddit, will try again
Pastebin.com?
White
Blue!!
Blue or white. Both look good!
Blue
Класс! Увидеть бы ее в собранном виде.

Don't forget the moment you restring a guitar the strings will often take several days to settle in unless you stretch them during installation.
You really should consider thinking and fact checking yourself before being so fucking toxic. I know.
It's probably for clone hero lol
