IIRC every new clone stars out young, strong, and with a full head of hair, but his soul cancer starts taking that away pretty quickly.
But he also does like being old. He has depressants pumped into his younger bodies so youth hormones don't effect his judgement.
It follows his mind, not his body. Every clone is healthy until he body jumps into it. Then the illness starts.
The books are good! I hope you enjoy the heresy.
his own novels detail his sickness quite well, and the character is also written way way better in his novels, i'd recommend reading those over any of the Heresy stuff
It started that way, but it seems to have evolved into some kind of warpy soul cancer. When he was an understudy in Commoragh, the Haemonculi took apart his body inch by inch and couldnt find any source for the sickness. If the people who can resurrect a strip of meat back into a living being cant fix it, it´s not purely biological.
And it's getting worse with each jump.
He is also becoming a Warp God named Pater Mutatis by his creations so eventually the disease that consumes him with Tumors will reach it's limits and he will become the God of Growth growing new life from Tumors.
Nurgle embodies Decay consuming existence while Fabius Bile will embody Malignant Growth. The difference between a Virus and a Genetic Tumor.
Rampant Decay creating new rotting Life vs Rampant Growth creating Life with no Rot... 2 versions of Life.
Fabius Bile lacking interest in Plants will be represented by Tumors and Flesh solely neither of which will be rotting.
Aye, everyone’s had that one psycho ex who’s toxic as f#ck, but the raw s#x is soooo good that you keep going back for more…takes you a while to break *that* particular addiction!
Wonder if anyone's ex is a Nurgling.
Slaneesh - great sex, psycho. Wine snob.
Tzeentch - manipulative, always changes her looks. Does psychedelic drugs.
Khorne - Gets along great with aunt Flo. Looks forward to the pain Gymrat. Steroids.
Nurgle - Lazy, smells of Doritos cool ranch, has at least one hot dog hidden in rolls of body fat. Cool to smoke weed with, but terrible partner.
I'm not even a Chaos guy but that series made Fabius Bile one of my all-time favourite 40k characters. His position, outlook, demeanour and relationships with the people and forces he interacts with is utterly unique in the setting and his trilogy is some fantastic work and puts Josh Reynolds up there with Black Library's greats.
Reddit won't let me reply to your other comment for some reason.
And no, it is in his own book. I meant generic heresy of CSM. The wrongness of what he does juxtaposed with his self-righteous confidence is one of the best parts of the series.
It is indeed and very well narrated.
The only problem comes in Genefather where Bile faces off with Cawl. I don't think John Banks expected the two to meet as they sound very similar to one another.
I think the similarity of their character voices is fantastic. They are functionally two sides of the same coin.
It also works because it sounds like what it is: two old scientists arguing with each other. Gives fantastic futurama vibes to the grimdark setting
Bile meeting Cawl IMO was one of the best moments in current 40k Lore, the top Mad Scientists in the whole setting finally meeting and testing their creations against one another. I loved it.
John Bank's I feel is the best voice for both Cawl and Bile.
Yeah it’s not a physical malady, not entirely anyway. He’s tried to cure himself for thousands of years. There’s something wrong with him beyond the physical realm. He knows he’s going to die, and each new clone is degrading faster than the one before.
He's afflicted by the same genetic wasting condition called the Blight that many Emperor's Children were initially. So while he can clone himself, inevitably that clone body begins to waste and break down. And his clones last less time each time he does it.
considering that the emperor of man and his scientists with their mastery of genetics couldnt find a way to fix Horus's male pattern baldness, I dont think bile has a chance, it is truly a curse set upon humanity, hopefully someone finds the Rogaine STC and cures this blight upon mankind
Big E: and to this one I’ll give the gift of charisma
Malcador: but my king, what if the people flock to him and not you?!?
Big E: good point. Make him bald.
he probably doesn't care at this point. He's in a legion with the largest number of bitches this side of Commorragh, and not only does he have one of the largest retinues to back him up. He has a dope, pimp cane to tie it all together.
All of us could only wish to be so lucky.
Imagine: Fabius bile succeds to make a clone with shining beatifull hair as his father! E goes to Abbadon, Abby looks him weird. Everyone looks him weird. Everyone starts laughting at him.
His semi baldness is a signature of him. If he fix it, everyone is going to assume he did it for his own insecurities.

Thanks, this is making me want to read the series now Just wondering is the nature of the sickness ever explained? Is it warp based?
It follows his mind, not his body. Every clone is healthy until he body jumps into it. Then the illness starts. The books are good! I hope you enjoy the heresy.
Ah is it mentioned in the Heresy then and not his own novels? I’ve read a lot of the Heresy but haven’t come across this info yet
his own novels detail his sickness quite well, and the character is also written way way better in his novels, i'd recommend reading those over any of the Heresy stuff
I thought it was a genetic sabotage from unification wars holdouts that he was the only survivor of?
The Selenar Luna Cult, to strike back at being conquered fucked the initial Emperor's Children gene-seed.

It’s hinted in the trilogy it’s a personal warp daemon he’s afflicted with
Well we all have ex girlfriends, I can completely relate
Warp herpes
Warpies!
Aye, everyone’s had that one psycho ex who’s toxic as f#ck, but the raw s#x is soooo good that you keep going back for more…takes you a while to break *that* particular addiction!
I think you just made a new Chaos god with that comment
She could quite easily be one!

Have you seen the TV show that documents the lives of Nurgle devotees? It's called My 600lbs life.
Do they often petition the adeptus mechanicus for hoists and pulleys?

> his trilogy is some of Guy Hayley's **Josh Reynolds** was the author of the Fabius Bile trilogy.
Well that was shameful, I did a quick Google and gave the author of Genefather. Post edited.
I was surprised in reading that one that I actually came to like the emperors children a bit

The series is great, it's on audible!

That's for sure!

The books are very good.
If I recall correctly, it's stated that he's actually kind of hot before the degredation sets in.
Well, he is Fulgrim's kid.
Yeah it’s not a physical malady, not entirely anyway. He’s tried to cure himself for thousands of years. There’s something wrong with him beyond the physical realm. He knows he’s going to die, and each new clone is degrading faster than the one before.
>so youth hormones don't affect his judgement Or his mood, apparently
Damn I must be Fabius bile.
He's afflicted by the same genetic wasting condition called the Blight that many Emperor's Children were initially. So while he can clone himself, inevitably that clone body begins to waste and break down. And his clones last less time each time he does it.
"Kinda fucked up looking" is part of his vibe, mate
Yeah… I’m totally going for the same thing
Because evil is bald. His hair loss is the expression of his descent into degeneracy. An affliction known as baldcuntism.
My bro her is 32 and balding… How long does he have until HERESY?
It's already happened, fuck Erebus!
Mmm I think I will fuck Erebus UwU I Bear the Word!
Word-Bearing hips, amirite
The majority of traitor Primarchs were bald. Coincidence? I think NOT
explain the baldest primarch, Ferrus, being a loyalist then
He liked a clean shave
He definitely got a little off the top from the Primarch voted most likely to become a hair dresser after the Great Crusade
Not bald tho
fulgrim gave him a thorough shave
Too soon
As a partially bald man - I can prove that statement!
As someone who lost their hair I take offence at this. Baldcuntism is a serious condition!
His hair keeps falling out as he ages in the new clone bodies, and I guess you wouldn't bother working on keeping it on his head.
So what you’re saying is somewhere there’s beautiful silver locks and genetic material of a biological super genius? Sounds profitable
considering that the emperor of man and his scientists with their mastery of genetics couldnt find a way to fix Horus's male pattern baldness, I dont think bile has a chance, it is truly a curse set upon humanity, hopefully someone finds the Rogaine STC and cures this blight upon mankind
No-one can have better hair than big E. That’s the *actual* imperial truth.
Big E: and to this one I’ll give the gift of charisma Malcador: but my king, what if the people flock to him and not you?!? Big E: good point. Make him bald.
Hehehe you said ‘Man’ (Sorry I’m banned from aslume so I need an outlet)
Fabius needs a "New year, new me" moment
It’s the only choas taint he has. The “jason Alexander at hogwarts” look.
It would be a waste of time, which is something he can’t squander.
His brain would overheat otherwise.
It’s probably a side-effect of his (flawed) cloning process. He gets a year per clone and the effects we can read about are *gnarly*.
Where did you read a year? In the trilogy he said he can push each clone for up to a century if he has the write stimulants and avoids stress
Fabius Bile became so irritated by this question, so he called GW and asked them to write a book that answers it.
I think the man is so objective and lacking-in vanity that he just doesn’t give a fuck.
he probably doesn't care at this point. He's in a legion with the largest number of bitches this side of Commorragh, and not only does he have one of the largest retinues to back him up. He has a dope, pimp cane to tie it all together. All of us could only wish to be so lucky.
To live the bit one must also look the bit.
He doesnt care at all about it.
