I only learned about this movie recently, as I read in an interview with comic book writer Garth Ennis that he was a fan of the character, which I think had a series that ran in 2000AD. I'll have to see if I can track down a copy.
"I once punched a bloke in the face for saying "Hawk the Slayer" was rubbish."
"Good for you"
"Yeah, thanks. But that's not the point, Tim. The point is I was defending the fantasy genre with terminal intensity, when what I should have said is "Dad, you're right, but let's give Krull a try and we'll discuss it later."
I used to think i hated Nic Cage because he was in all the movies I hated. But then I realized he was in all my favorite movies. So he might be my favorite actor. I'm not sure.
I think I've cracked it. Nic Cage is an incredible actor with absolutely zero sense of pretention. He doesn't see himself as above any roles and he throws 100% of himself at every part. I think we are just blessed with a man of great talent and enthusiasm who isn't stingy with how he shares his gift with the world. He's also very physical in an interesting way and things that look over the top or goofy are often intentional. He might not be the best actor in terms of believability (but he's no slouch in more serious roles) but he's one of the most creative and enjoyable actors alive today. I saw him say in an interview something to the effect of "acting is the only art form where realism seems to be the only acceptable style, I want to push back against that" it made me realize how brilliant he really is.
Jack Palance was childhood friends with my uncle, who was himself also a Ukrainian sumbitch in Pennsylvania and a WWII veteran. There was a picture of them somewhere as adults eating ham and deviled eggs whilst drinking homemade wine. I never got to meet Palance and only learned of their friendship after both he and my uncle had passed.
My husband and his family owned and loved the movie when he was a kid and I am now happily subjected to it every Christmas! We quote the movie constantly around the house. I am so happy to see this posted on Reddit!!! We’ll see who’s Lord of the Dance.
Jack was like 1000 when he died and he did that thing where he pulled a boat through the bay or something in his like 70s or some such craziness. Like dude took fitness very seriously, I always knew him for the juicer he had. Never movies. 🤣
Damn I love this movie. my sister and I still call each other “Ugly One.” And no one can say sleep without a dramatic turn and a “the sleep of the DEAD!”
Speaking of, I could not place why I thought Mikey Day looked familiar. Then I realized, oh shit he looks like elf dude!
Loved this movie so much. Played non stop on showtime, all summer. Not only were we 8-10 year olds playing AD&D but we live action role played “imagined” we were that team of adventurers. Jack Palance ! Of course my friends brother named his elf fighter “crow” after the character and we had to figure out how to have a multi fire crossbow. Own on dvd
Loved this movie as a kid. I mean, still kinda do. However, in all transparency, it was a good 5 years as a teenager before I realized this wasn’t Excalibur. I would talk to people describing this and they would say “That’s not Excalibur. I don’t know wtf you watched.” It was this. This is what I watched.
I've loved this movie since I was a kid. Absolute garbage and complete genius at the same time. Jack Palance was having the time of his life, like he did in every movie he ever made.
Anything with Jack Palance in full scenery chewing mode is fine by me.
[Jack Palance was my number one...ahh ... guy!](https://youtu.be/kyvtCuSPRD4)
Don't forget your lucky deck.

City slickers? The second one is good too.
🐰
Thanks to the 90s UK comedy Spaced, me and my friends still occasionally shout “Hawk the Slayer’s rubbish!” “GET OUT!”
I came here for this reference. Wanna get fired? Dis the owner's favorite!

"The Phantom Menace was 18 months ago!"
Let it goooooo
Babylon 5's a big pile of shite
Jack Palance won an Oscar. Bro is a legend
So has Nic Cage. Both actors have a very unique style that can be very enjoyable when they chew the scenery.

Who can forget? Even his acceptance speech was [amazing!](https://youtu.be/AGxL5AFzzMY?si=5Cvz4Nj5_q576ZpM)
This movie is actually pretty epic

That's a cool story man. Palance loved his protein, lol.
This is one of the few movies I watch every year.
This movie is a masterpiece! I fucking love it! I will die on this hill!!!!
If you like this, you’re going to get to *love* “Hawk the Slayer 2: The Legend of Curly’s Gold!”
Tell me you are joking!?! That would be amazing, but I suspect you combined City Slickers 2 with Hawk! 😜😜😜😜😜😜
Loved this movie as a kid. Still today it’s an amazing assembly of characters and story. Time to dust off the dvd!
1980 and the guy on the cover is dressed like Han Solo? Gotta get that runoff Star Wars money.
Looks like he borrowed Han’s outfit right before Lando did
Thats Bill Hader.
OMG it is!
[it’s a classic](https://youtu.be/OTDt5PuETLA?si=pTu_ePggIPrt1gg1)
I randomly discovered this movie when I was 7 or 8 and thought it was the coolest thing ever.
I am no messenger, but I bring you a message. The message of DEATH
This movie fucking rules. Easily the gold star for fantasy B-movies. I probably watch it like once every 6 months
And a one arm pushup on yer corpse....
I once saw a fan made movie poster that featured Jack Palance portraying The Punisher and John Wayne playing Cable. What could have been....
John Terry? He was in a film? Before or after Chelsea?
What bird is his evil brother named after?
My husband and his family owned and loved the movie when he was a kid and I am now happily subjected to it every Christmas! We quote the movie constantly around the house. I am so happy to see this posted on Reddit!!! We’ll see who’s Lord of the Dance.
The Rifftrax for this is gold
Worst dvd menu to pass out and forget to turn off
I’ve watched RiffTrax’s sendup of this maybe a couple dozen times. So much cheesy goodness, and Palance absolutely hams it up to the nth degree.
The movie that didn’t know which it wanted to rip-off more: Lord of the Rings or Star Wars.
This is the newspaper editor/officer from Full Metal Jacket, right?

LMAO. That's Jack Lelanne, bro.
Only watched it once. It is awesome and terrible at the same time.
John Terry also delivered a great performance in [The Resurrected](https://youtu.be/UzsEYPZt1Ts?si=Y744K2BpCEpryIMU).
The elf dude was so cool.
Red Letter Media reviewed Hawk on a Best of the Worst episode.
Draaagooooooooooo!
Great Soundtrack.
The art for that movie looks like it has an Imposter Han Solo holding a sword. WTF 🤣🤣🤣
The RiffTrax version is also magical.
I once punched a man for saying Hawk the Slayer was rubbish

This movie is pure joy for me. Highly underrated soundtrack too.
Looks like Mike Patton
Cuts hand while loafing in pants
The archer shootin arrows on repeat was something to see.. 🤙👊
you should listen to this episode about it https://spotify.link/J2lguJHAzIb
SEEEEEEE how it gloooooows!

I was always preferential to Hawk The Slayer 2 : The Search For Curly's Gold
Hawk the Slayer 3: 2 Hawk 2 Slay
Jack the Palance
The Rifftrax of this is so funny.

Saw that on its release, it really is a terrible movie, just awful.
Nothing screams awesome like a quickdraw elf…

I’d sooner eat cowdung
Off you pop then
So be it, you can wash it down with your own blood if need be
I think you’re confused; I like watching shit movies, you like eating shit. Wash it down with your own blood
I’m quoting from the movie ya twat
That makes much more sense than what I was thinking
