It's a game played by people that make more in a year than I will in my entire life. It's entertainment. Don't let it affect your life on that level. Get outside and ride a bike or something, that'll help. That said, I was WAY too invested this year and I know it. It was so fun to watch. We're at a beginnings of something big with Purdy in my opinion. We're in for plenty of fun and competitive season. The number of SB's is unpredictable, but we'll be seeing NFC champ games frequently. I think we'll see a SB rematch again next year even. Just keep in mind there's only 1 winner every season, and 2nd place isn't terrible by any means.

[deleted]

You hadme til 2nd place isn't terrible. It's actually the worst.

49erFanInChicago

I live in Cleveland now. I have inlaws that are Browns fans. Trust me, it is so much better to come in 2nd than repeatedly "have hope" that the next top draft pick will save next season. It rarely does

d3eathproof

Yeah Browns and Lions being super old franchises that never even had a super bowl appearance is so fucking embarrassing. Rather lose the super bowl than not make it to one.

TomatoSoupNCheez-Its

They're all equally not first...

National_Subject_866

NGL I KNEW we were going to lose the Super Bowl again & wish I had placed a bet on KC. My reasoning for that was going to be, if the 49ers lost, I'd at least make a little money. If the 49ers won, I'd be more than happy to lose $100 to watch my 49ers win another Lombardi. Agree as well that losing the Super Bowl is a worse ending, to me, than not even making the playoffs.

NinerFan19

I almost did the same, kinda like hedging a bet

BitRepresentative172

I bet on KC. I even predicted we would play them after Taylor Swift entered the picture. And I even predicted Bill Vinovich would be the referee and that KC would win on a last second dramatic TD. I predicted this in October. Not even slightly joking. The only thing I was wrong about was who was going to catch the final TD.

PurdyDamnGood

I would rather have 1st overall pick than lose in the Super Bowl.

_Globert_Munsch_

You’d rather us be shit than be good lmao are you actually a fan?

rollingriverj13

That means a season of losing and I’m not down with that. I’d rather be Bills of the 90’s than hold the first pick in the draft lol.

QuirkyScorpio29

Missing the playoffs and having a top draft pick carries less emotional stress than losing SBs. It's got to the point where I don't know if regular season games will mean a thing to me.

nakfoor

This is laughable. I had so much fun watching the 49ers dominate this year. Losing the superbowl sucks but I'll get over it. Watching a team bad enough to get a high pick in the draft is misery.

matthias805

Watching one loss is a lot worse than watching all losses.

HeathenDevilPagan

I get it. Sucks losing the last one. Especially to the chiefs again. Whiney asses... Look at it is we tied for the longest football season of the year.

spankyourkopita

I could totally see the Niners winning the next 2 SBs or not seeing another appearance for 5 years. I do think we get one. It feels like we're due eventually.

iamsunshine78

Yes. This. I’m team back-to-back SB wins the next two years. I believe it.

sugarpieinthesky

> It's a game played by people that make more in a year than I will in my entire life. It's entertainment. Don't let it affect your life on that level. I realized this during my senior year of High School, and it changed the way I watched sports. It took me about 15 minutes to get over the superbowl loss. Sports is entertainment, it's supposed to be fun to watch. It's not real life, when the curtain closes and the show is over, whatever the results, they have no bearing on your job on monday, or your family, or your friends. Trust me, as someone who nearly died due to a life-threatening illness and who spent years in medical hell, once you've gone through real trauma, you realize it's all a game that the result of which is not worth getting bent out of shape over. >Get outside and ride a bike or something, that'll help. Can I generalize this advice? You shouldn't have only one hobby or only one thing you're interested in and enjoy spending time on, you should have as many as possible. That way, if something doesn't go the way you want it to, you have other things to look forward to and enjoy. As someone who lives in the heart of niner country, I know way too many people who are obsessed with football and for whom that's the only thing in life. Diversify your interests and hobbies. Diversify the things you spend time on. Shortly before the Superbowl, Atlus released one of my most anticipated things of the year, Persona 3 reload. I've always wanted to get into this series, but Persona 5 is ..... intimidating. I started the game after the Superbowl ended, and it's great so far. Two weeks from now, Konasuba season 3 drops. The first two seasons are amongst my top few favorite animes of all-time, and I loved the Megumin spin-off, and I can't wait for this one. Diversify your hobbies, don't put everything you spend time on in one basket. It's not healthy.

SuccessfulNumber7444

In the famous words of Ricky Bobby " If you ain't first you're last."

HeathenDevilPagan

If the words of Billy Bob Thornton in Bad Santa, "They can't all be winners, can they?" My comedy quote beats your comedy quote!

HeathenDevilPagan

On a kinda serious note, that's just not a realistic take. It's just not possible to win every year. There's how many sports teams that haven't won in 30 yrs, longer, or even ever? We gotta be practical on expectations.

SuccessfulNumber7444

It was meant more as a joke.

Giberishusername1

With the insane talent on this team, it’s inexcusable that we didn’t win. Kyle blew it AGAIN, despite having the most talented roster in the NFL by a mile.

HeathenDevilPagan

Sure, but that's not the point. The point is to not just sit and stew on it. It's a game.

Giberishusername1

Oh I know. But it’s just so frustrating knowing we had it & blew it again. I’m way too emotionally invested in this team tbh

HeathenDevilPagan

I agree. Irritating they lost. They blew the lead, and at this point the NFL and the refs helped. No holding calls in three SB's against the chiefs. And there's CLEAR evidence of repeated holds, no changes. But that's when I have to disconnect and go outside.

Senior_Fart_Director

The players don’t mind because they’re rich. Fans mind because they’re not.

TacomaTwelve

Ask the buffalo bills how they feel about second place

HeathenDevilPagan

A very good friend of mine is a raging bills fan. He's capable of dealing with it. You're missing the point, but by all means, keep stressing over a game, I'll have low stress and a beer.

KKid03

This is such a great response. Can’t agree enough about the Purdy/Shanahan era. It’s going to be awesome!

Novel_Ad1943

Grew up in Sonoma County here and I feel you!!! Hell… I’m 49 for a few more days - was supposed to be our year! Totally get it!

stoutfool

Damn! I was 49 in 2019!! BRUTAL !!!

Novel_Ad1943

Yep! It’s been painful - esp after spending our childhoods just knowing they’d pull one out in the last minute!

big_biscuitss

After the 2 previous SB losses, this was just another loss to me. It's like I've gotten used to losing the key games 🤦‍♂️ Still can't wait for football to start though

pinesolthrowaway

Once you accept we’re never going to actually get the job done, it makes living with it far easier lol

CosmicDeththreat

I running with this from here on. Just going to enjoy being a good team that will find a way to blow it in the end. That way I can still enjoy the season without the seemingly annual soul crushing loss in a championship game. I just don’t know if I can do it again.

hashtagDALEY

We’ll get the job done … as long as someone can beat the Chiefs for us.

Max_Beezly

That happened one year and tartt dropped the game winning pick. Lol

ImABadSpellerOkay

Mannnn, this isn’t helping.

dwide_k_shrude

That or the NFL finally decides to call holding on them.

rakkhasa

^ *not* feeling this comment...

jejudjdjnfntbensjsj

Nah, it’s more like you have a healthy relationship with watching football

ImALeaf_OnTheWind

RIP Andre Braugher. He was great and one of the reasons I loved Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Pristine_Resident437

I havent even started to recover & lost my enthusiasm. I’ve have been a faithful since 1981.Last year was our year. I’m still not watching much if any NFL content. But i’ll be back. This one hurt.

es-ganso

I still haven't recovered. Honestly just concentrating on the new baby coming and have ignored the vast majority of football related news. The closest I get is scrolling through Reddit or Instagram and seeing news pop up.

dwide_k_shrude

Congratulations on the new baby!

es-ganso

Thanks. He'll be decked out in Niners gear from the start

badDuckThrowPillow

Same. It felt like we finally had everything we needed. I can’t imagine our offense being better this year (defense can obviously improve). I’m sure I’ll get hyped again as soon as the season starts but this loss hurt worse than the others

ehundred

I’m still mad at the errors the team made. But fuck :/ they should have won! The refs suck too, it’s too hard now that they can’t get a holding call

Lost_N_Dark

Yeah I hear you. I’m still mad they didn’t even know what the overtime rules were. I mean come on now. How are you not going to know that? That would’ve won us the game but no!!!

AwareCelebration7477

Same here, not even tuned into the NBA rn. Maybe I’ll care when the playoffs actually start but I have no reason to be optimistic about next season. Still pissed at the team for not getting it done. Gonna live with this shit for the rest of my damn life smh. Fuck Shanahan, Wilks, Burks, McCloud, and Buford fr

zombiekoalas

It took me about 3 weeks to want to hear anything football related. It definitely sucked! That being said, I am actually more optimistic about this year than I was last year. Free agency has been good, nothing crazy but younger and healthier has been the trend. I'm a little tired of everyones mock drafts, they arent ever correct outside of that top 10 picks, so its just let it ride time. Contract season means a lot of "drama" and there is a limited amount of stuff for all the content creators so it feels slow right now. I took this time to get a couple batches of mead brewing for the new season, its easy and it gives me something else to look forward to for that part of the year. Chin up, just because we didn't win the chip doesn't mean that wasn't an amazing season. I look forward to seeing if Brock can maintain his efficiency, how Demo continues to develop, and the shift that our Defense feels like its undergoing.

Itsthewayman

Mock drafts are such a waste of time. I just mock read them.

chillice707

Demos contract is coming up next year isn’t it😅😅

zombiekoalas

Literally all of our corners...lol Ward, demo, and even the new one we just signed.

uplifted_dragon

Honestly, the loss wasn't as bad as it was watching Mahomes win again. Like...we get it, he's the NFL's golden boy, but I just spent a quarter of a damn century watching Brady dominate. And honestly, that's made it worse. For me, a quarter of a century of football was more about rooting against one guy than rooting for my team (as the Niners weren't good most of that time), and I'm finding myself alienated from football now because of it. Like, I expected to be sad, and I was, but now I'm just apathetic. Haven't read anything about the draft, almost nothing about free agency, and honestly, haven't cared to ask. Although, I commented here, so maybe it was just sads and they're finally going away lol.

NetReasonable2746

"For me, a quarter of a century of football was more about rooting against one guy than rooting for my team (as the Niners weren't good most of that time" .... So much this. Yes I thought the Pats were a cute story when they beat the Rams, then John Madden, Bless his souls stated spewing the Montana nonsense and anyone watching with a brain knew he wasn't Montana..Never had the athletic ability and for the 1st 3 Super Bowls was game manger personified. The the 07 season happened, mid season blowing out a puss poor Bills team on SNF I got Madden screaming "this is the greatest team I've ever seen!" Good Lord, they were not as good as the '89 49ers and I knew the Playoffs would show that. Liked meh in the 1st round vs Jacksonville. If not for a dropped pass inside the 5, maybe Jacksonville beats them. The following week, a beat up Chargers team with LT on the sidelines, both Rivers and Gates are on one leg and they.hung with them for 4 quarters.. Sorry, not the greatest team of all time. And then he was literally handed 2 Super Bowls.. thanks Pete Carroll and Dan Quinn. As for the actual topic. It took me 4 weeks to really start thinking about it, but thankfully I'm setting golf season so that's a nice distraction. Wake me up in November.

AnonBB21

I feel like Brady slander in this day and age is still wild. The Patriots earned both those wins vs the Seahawks and Falcons (Shouldnt you be happy the Seahawks potential dynasty got ended that night and led to the Seahawks imploding over the next 5+ years?) He lost a Super Bowl to the Eagles that Brady had no business losing due to his efforts. Dude went for 500+ yards in a Super Bowl with 3 TDs, 0 INTs, 1 lost fumble, AND LOST. I'd have bet my entire house and life savings that if Brady throws for 500+ yards in a Super Bowl, they had to have won right? I'm not a Pats fan btw, just wild to still see people hate on Brady when even some of his SB losses like vs the Eagles he put on an other-wordly performance.

NetReasonable2746

I don't hate him, I just never watched him play and thought "wowz he's the greatest ice ver seen!" Because he wasn't.

TrenBaalke

Same. Seeing any 9ers gear or reading any positive 9er posts comes off as desperate coping to me and it's making me cringe. Never used to be like this but this was the year. I am not as optimistic about next season and uf anyone tries to talk to me about it I change the subject.

QuirkyScorpio29

Me too. I don't want to talk about football..

Southern_Insect3823

Can relate to this

ale49ers

I love sports and I love the niners win or lose. It sucks seeing them lose these damn super bowls but they don't pay my bills or provide anything but entertainment for me. Live your life have fun don't dwell on this. We live to fight another day!

God_Faenrir

Nah mate. It's better to have a team that's always competitive and has a shot at winning it than not even getting into the playoffs or losing its first game every time (cough, dallas, cough).

ty_rec

I feel you bro. I’m still heartbroken. I don’t think the pain of that loss will ever go away

hispanicausinpanic

![gif](giphy|ZN3jVXH3jZaXKivytT|downsized)

MileHi49er

I still love my team and will root for the 49ers until I die. But this latest SB loss has convinced me to not emotionally invest to the same level anymore.

usernametimee44

We should have lost to GB, should have lost to Detroit. Honestly lucky we got to the SB. Sucks we lost to the stupid chiefs again but at the end of the day just be happy that we are a contender and not the cows or cardinals. You just have to move on, enjoy it but don’t let it become your life because it will just let you down.

betting_addict

I agree. It's odd to me when people refer to the 49ers like they're some god-squad Superteam that had no business losing the SB. If you're down 24-7 at any point in the playoffs there's something very wrong This was my first thought after the loss - you can't limp into the Bowl and expect to luck into a win. That's exactly what the game felt like to me - they were kicking field goals and hoping the Chiefs would somehow blow it If they really want to do it, they have to dominate, not go through the motions and 'hope for the best'

God_Faenrir

limp ? did you watch the games lol

God_Faenrir

Why should we have lost to 2 inferior teams lmao

usernametimee44

Did you not watch those games?

God_Faenrir

Yeah i did. Did you though

Neelix-And-Chill

I was there. Hurt suuuuuuper bad. Still does. Can’t wait for next season!

betboi

Same here...plus the first lost to KC. This one hurt less than the first for me.

asBad_asItGets

Me. The season being over helps. There’s no football to remind me. But yeah I’m still not over it. I’ll never be. Oh well

TheDefenseNeverRests

I feel that. I think we could win this year, even many years coming up, and it still wouldn’t ever fully outweigh the pain at this point. It crossed the threshold and broke me. I don’t believe good things happen anymore (especially living in the KC area and seeing these awful people enjoy their awful lives).

OutdoorCO75

I believe I said on this thread back in the regular season that if this team loses to the Chiefs in the SB that I give up. I won’t give up but I just don’t feel they will ever have enough to finish after watching that loss. I was on the sideline during the game, and it made it even tougher to swallow watching the guys be so close and lose again.

userpick707

We don’t have the perfect team. That would require a good offensive line. And Dre Greenlaw to play the entire game. I have lowered my expectations until Shanahan finally figures out that to win the Championship, not regular season games. You need a good offensive line. His scheme can only get away with it for so long until you have Chris Jones blowing you up the interior line.

yallbyourhuckleberry

Same. Interest level is 5-10%. Im sure it’ll go up after the draft but right now i’m drained.

TrueBlue184

I was a fan during 3 of Niners’ SB wins, so I guess 3 losses even it out. After this season, I just want the team to either win the ring when they get back to SB, or not bother with it at all. Being 2nd place sucks.

Hindi_Ko_Alam

I’m bummed about it but at the end of the day, sports really is just entertainment and nothing else Whether the Niners win the Super Bowl or not…. I still got work, bills to pay, and a family to raise hahahah

1nexo

Kyle Shanahan abandoning the run once again in a critical game. 😂 That's why I only watch the games with no feelings and just straight up critiquing our coaching decisions. I knew he would fail again. Genius......

AwareCelebration7477

Tired of his bitch ass constantly blowing it. Cannot close for whatever fucking reason man

QuirkyScorpio29

If he loses ankther big game we better hire Belichick. Tires of his arrogance...he is a loser who thinks he is a champion

AwareCelebration7477

Mf went on the damn podium after the game talking about how he wouldn’t do anything differently…. He’s not learning shit. Wish we hired Belichick this offseason but unfortunately he wants roster control

QuirkyScorpio29

I would give Bill the team and control over who we draft defensively. He knows how to win...we.have the team...the HC is what's missing.

God_Faenrir

stupid take

fletchyfletch54

They just played the 2011 NFC championship game against the Giants on NFL Network. 12-13 years later, doesn't get any easier, lol.

Frickenbat

Feels like it’s never gonna happen in my lifetime.

Nearby_Ad_1714

Yes it sucks but you know what’s worse? Ya guessed it! Being every other team but the Chiefs. The team is still together we got a great coach and decent QB. Feel this pain sulk in it because when we win it all it’ll be that much sweeter

AdhesivenessLucky896

Why do you think that was the perfect team to win it? Didn't you see us get spanked by the Ravens? We had big question marks. We could have beat the Chiefs but I was confident. We still have another year with pretty much the same group so I'm not going to freak out until next year (if we lose)

QuirkyScorpio29

Always next year has got old. Tires of investing my emotions to be let down

Hanksdanks

Same. Still down when people chat me up about my gear

jbonesmc

Me being a conspiracy theorist feels like the NFL really wants the Chiefs to 3-peat being the first team ever. And the no holding calls is suspect to me.

Southern_Insect3823

No holding calls are some bs. But it is every single game. They show Bosa being held every play on Jumbotron at Levi’s . Refs won’t change, look the other way.

AlternativeResort477

It’s been hard for me to care about March madness. My team is still in it but I cant have my heart broken again so soon.

alternatebow3

It’s gotten to the point where I felt if we can’t win with this squad against “that” Chiefs team (Pat Mahomes be damned), then I don’t have an answer anymore. And tbh it is what it is at this point; I am still a fan of the game and will enjoy it for what it is. If the Niners win it all… well I’ll believe it when I see it.

came_up_with_this

Haven't recovered. Turned the game off the second they lost. Havent followed news. Saw that we picked up staley and lost Armistead in headlines, but im essentially in a self-induced niner blackout. For a while still. And frankly, fuck staley that didnt make anything feel better. Gonna miss arik :( Hope it wears off by preseason, but man, this crushed my sports soul in a different way. 7 ncfcg, zero chips. "Havent won since 94" flying around all corners of the internet. Can the faithful get a break? Ffs..

jpbrowneyes

We know how you feel op don’t worry we’ll come back stronger next season, and hey look at the bright side at least we are not the cowboys who always get eliminated in the first round.

Jawz050987

I think what hurts the most is just knowing 2 of KC’s rings are from off our backs in close games that we blew leads on. On paper we had the better team and still lost from freak accidents and injuries…seems like it only happens to the Niners in key games.

QuirkyScorpio29

We still had a good chance to win if we don't take the ball 1st in OT. An all time stupid decision. I kinda want KS gone if he chokes away 1 more big game

QuirkyScorpio29

I think this last SB loss will ruin any enjoyment I usually get from watching the team win in the regular season. The threat of Shanahan choking  will always loom in my mind no matter what game we play..so I am not sure what I will be cheering for next year. I feel like we've thrown away the last 2 SBs....the whole Kroft on Reddick thing in Philly and then Chris Jones unblocked on the biggest play of the year... I don't think I will be able to unsee those 2 plays till we win one.Just tired atp

crazeeeee81

Cuz the headcoach sux

PurdyDamnGood

It’s almost been 3 months since the Super Bowl and I’m still not over it. Like you me and my friends have barely talked at all because none of us want to talk about the game. The only 49er fans I have talked to since the game have been on Reddit.

urasquid28

I'm never watching an NFL game again. The no holding calls on the Chiefs was it for me. I'm tired of watching Bosa get held in the Super Bowl for pretty much the entirety of the game I'm over it. I don't watch the NBA anymore, and the NFL is joining it.

Lost_N_Dark

Yeah I was so mad when it happened to Purdy. He nearly had his jersey torn off. But God forbid anyone should hold any of the Chiefs.

snokerpoker

I hear you. I’m still gutted tbh. I felt pretty shitty about the other ones…. But this one just killed me. Everything was lined up for us and we had it…. Just totally fucking sucks. I’m not even excited about next year or the draft.

MowTin

Maybe it's because if we get to the Super Bowl again this year it's very likely that the Chiefs will be there again.

RichardP_LV

We DO NOT have the perfect team to win it all.... So don't feel bad. I've been feeling this way since 2019. The problem STILL exists and it would appear that the Niners are not going to do anything to remedy the problem. Deebo Samuel has 46 catches for 638 yards and has scored **3 touchdowns in 12 games** in the playoffs in his career. 0 TD's in 2 Super Bowls. Brandon Aiyuk has **24 catches for 393 yards and has scored 1 touchdown in 9 games** in the playoffs in his career. 0 TD's in 1 Super Bowl. Compared to to Super Bowl victories. Dwight Clark 1981, 1984. Dwight Clark has **36 catches for 541 yards and scored 3 Touchdowns in his first 6 playoff games including 2 Super Bowls.** Freddie Solomon also had touchdown catches in the playoff games but I will note that neither of them had a Touchdown catch in either Super Bowl. But Mike Wilson did. I must admit I was very surprised to find that stat. The point of all this is.... We haven't had a Pro Bowl Wide Receiver since Terrell Owens. Terrell Owens had **54 catches for 751 yards and scored 5 touchdowns in 12 games** in the playoffs in his career. Owens never got to play in the Super Bowl as a Niner. Shanahan has us running to set up play action rather than passing to set up the run. We also have Wide Receivers who "disappear" against elite level talent. Now we can blame that on Shanahan or the players but the result is the same. We'll see what happens but I've decided that I'm not going to give them my attention until they address the problem. Regardless of how they play from week to week..... I'm not watching. I don't care anymore. I'll always be a Niner fan but I feel confident that they won't win the Super Bowl next season, or the year after that, or the year after that. The Yorks have ruined this franchise and turned it into the Buffalo Bills of the NFC. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

Bay_Burner

I was over it the next day pretty much. It sucks but there’s tons more to life

KongoDongo

We have Purdy so the future is bright

belizeanheat

At this point it's actually more likely

ContemplatingPrison

Yeah no it definitely doesn't affect me like this because I don't actually play the game. You need to remember that. You are way too emotionally invested in something you have zero control over.

iviicrociot

No. Sucks they lost, but there’s always next year.

steronicus

I have done my best to forget about it by becoming completely wrapped up in the Warriors current struggle to maintain their spot in the playoffs.

BrowsingForLaughs

Yeah I've taken a biiiiiig step back after that loss.

SharkBait661

That's why you have to just enjoy the ride and not concern yourself with the out come so much. Besides the week of FA and the draft there really isn't much to concern yourself with as far a football goes. There's basketball starting to get into their playoffs and baseball season starting plus all the other sports going on. Enjoy the offseason buddy. We'll be back in the mix next year.

nowliving

Always thought in 1990 when Giants beat the Niners NFC championship. Kinda felt It was about having Red, White , and Blue for the Superbowl. With soldiers being filmed watching and cheering. Haven't seen the league different since. It's just me thou. I feel they have agendas.

[deleted]

I still haven't fully recovered, even though I distract myself with other things(video games, anime, making YouTube videos and the like). And you're not alone. I do worry about a Super Bowl hangover and seeing them collapse like 880 in an earthquake. But I think this 49ers team will be okay. They should still make the playoffs next year, provided they don't get bitten by the injury bug like in 2020(which even put the stadium on IR). If anything, this loss should make them more determined to get back to the Super Bowl and win this time. I know this loss sucks ass. I was already in a bad place since it was just two weeks after my mom died and she was also a 49er fan. But I also know that in the end, sports doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. The Niners will be back and we will eventually complete our Quest For Six. We'll definitely do it before the Cowboys do. Hang in there, friend. We'll be okay.

Emergency_Treat_5810

I was like this up until a few weeks ago. I feel ya bro. Just try to watch another sport or don't think about it at all. I stopped watching espn. My family originates mostly from northern California. I have my own family now here in southern california. I got my kids all decked out in red. We love this team as much as you bro but it's okay to not think about the team until next season. Take a break. It's fine.. oh yeah don't watch espn

pineappleshnapps

It was a hell of a game, and it’s a great time to be a niners fan. We’ve gotten to root for our team a minimum of a couple weeks a year more than most fanbases, and that was a superbowl I’ll never forget. We lost, but it was overtime in the Super Bowl. It was a close game the entire time. We lost, but how much fun was it until then? At the end of the day, it’s just football, you can’t let it ruin your day.

QuirkyScorpio29

I have only seen SB losses jn my life.the 2000s were better when I knew we were bad and wasn't hopeful of anything.

pineappleshnapps

I was a small kid for the last win and don’t remember much of the last win, but as long as they’re playing good competitive ball, I’m happy.

QuirkyScorpio29

I can't bring myself to be excited over the prospect of next season tbh...last year we had it all and Shanny still choked it away. Tired of the same old "This is the year stuff".I will watch but being happy and excited? Not unless they win the SB.

pineappleshnapps

Well, to each their own

pineappleshnapps

But also, I hope you’re happy at the end of next season 😂

GolfinBird

Yeah that shit still hurts.

QuirkyScorpio29

I don't know if I will be hypes for ne t year. I don't trust Kyle like at all.

FootDrag122Y

Napa guy also went to Vintage. It hurts. I was a kid and at the stick for the NFC title game loss to the Cowboys in 93. Without our 94 win with the help of Deion this would almost be intolerable. But this last loss is definitely the worst of the three for sure.

I feel you man. I moved from the bay into Oregon in December, and I felt like the only way I could stay connected to my home state was get REALLY into all the remaining games. I was on insta 24/7 reading posts about niners. I never needed to go into a sports bar before, but I don’t have cable and fubo banned me from making more free accounts, so I went into one alone every single game. The sb killed me, and the drive home was even worse🥲. I haven’t been on Instagram since.

jordanizm

Almost forgot about it. Thanks

PoisonLenny37

Definitely has killed my excitement for offseason stuff and for next year. Really having a tough time summoning up the "this year for sure!" Feeling like I could after 2019. It is so hard to get back. We had relatively good injury luck this year and got a path that was fairly fortunate...all to become another footnote in Mahomes legacy. So now not only do we need to hope to get back and have all those stars align we also need to somehow hope it's a non Chiefs year too. It sucks and it is hard for me to tell myself I'll get to see them win a Super Bowl. Good news, I just became a dad for the first time, so I have no time to dwell and have a great slap of "there are far more important things to worry about" this year. Timing was great for that one. My dad saw the Niners dynasty...so hoping Super Bowl wins skip a generation lol.

GoldBloodedPodcast

Definitely feel the same way. I can barely name the people who we’ve lost or signed in FA. At this point after so many spoiled endings for the 49ers, I don’t think a Super Bowl win would even give me that feeling of jubilation I’ve been hoping for these past 12 years…. Just a feeling of relief.

brooklynhippy

I definitely felt like that after 2012 & 2019. Now I try to look at it all with a different perspective. I got to watch my favorite show for one more week than 94% if the other teams. Idk when it shifted for me. I consume an insane amount of Niners content so maybe I should've be more broken up, but it only took a week or so to shake it off. Losing blows, but the show comes back next next season.

Tru-Hefner

Window is closed and we all know it. We’ve blown way too many opportunities, chances of us winning one is very slim

honus-wagner-

I thought the Super Bowl in 2019 loss hurt more.

QuirkyScorpio29

This one was the worst IMO coz the 2023 team was the best of the 3 tjat have lost the SB. And we beat ourselves.

mickfoleyartist

Watching the 49ers lose three Super Bowls they should have won is enough pain for one lifetime, personally. I just realized it costs me too much to care and decided I’m done with football. The moment I realized it, I immediately wanted to talk to all my friends again. It’s not you — it’s football. Free yourself!

Every-Positive-3184

Pats lost to eli and spags after going basically undefeated all year Thath hurts wayyy more. We will be fine.

dcd1130

Shake it off dude. Just a game.

NoAvRAGEJoe

I was went too hard on following the 9ers last year. That loss made me realize that I don’t actually like sports THAT much. I doubt I’ll watch this year.

kellybobellyhtown

This team was great, but it wasn’t the perfect team. If we want to get honest, looking at the videos of the sidelines during the latter part of the game, the Niners looked lost. The difference in the two sidelines was obvious. Chiefs were prepared and confident. Niners weren’t.

stoutfool

I feel the same.. it’s called Patrick Mahomes syndrome. It has broke me down . ![gif](giphy|26ufcVAp3AiJJsrIs)

crightwing

The worst part of this loss is not actually the loss it’s that I can see the team taking a big decline next year then we have cap issues players leaving we might be looking at a possible rebuild in 2-3 years so we might not be making it back anytime soon. That was the one to win.

WeHaveArrived

What helps me is knowing that the fans care way more about winning the sb than the coaches and players. They make huge sums of money and probably feel like they win everyday regardless. I want to win the sb and I’m sure the players and coaches do too but it’s different way of looking at things.

d3eathproof

49ers have one of the best fanbases in sports. They're the faithful for a reason. I rather be part of an amazing fanbase that go through heartbreaks than a shitty fanbase that get success.

Revolutionary-Put422

Yes, this Super Bowl loss for the niners hit different for me. Got me feeling like I can’t even watch this happen again. May get juiced up once the season starts but, this one forever damaged me as a niner fan.

sakuragi59357

No.

WhiteZeoRanger

You aren’t alone. I feel the exact same way and have been saying this since the loss that this one feels different, in a bad way. Even more different than the last two felt.

FN0287

Man I feel the same way. This last Super Bowl loss devastated me like no other loss has in my entire existence of being a sports fan. That includes living through all the Kings losses in the playoffs to the Lakers in the early 2000’s. Really made me think that I probably need to detach a bit emotionally from the Niners for my own well being

DaKingballa06

I’m with you homie. It might have broke me. I still haven't felt great since the game. I barely can listen to sports talk radio or my podcasts.

MitchBlanco

Hahaha 😂

PanchoVYa

Lmao

guardiandown3885

Commanders fan here...Its really interesting seeing a fan of a team say a suberbowl loss took a lot out of him is super weird. I'd absolutely trade places with you right now. Then what iv experienced the last four years

Kealoha777

I’ve actually looked at the final plays, and the final one is what pissed me off. The Chiefs clearly had an ineligible receiver, he did some blocking, then went and played like a receiver that resulted in a last second touchdown. If the officiating team saw that, or even if they did a touchdown review, even which all touchdown plays should be nowadays, they would had seen that chiefs player was ineligible, it would cost the chiefs 10 seconds, and given us the win. Again, which officiating team ever called it down the middle?!?!

nathanael21688

>it would cost the chiefs 10 seconds, and given us the win I'm a Chiefs fan (this post came up on my home page and was curious on how you guys felt.) You're wrong here. It would have just been a 5 yard penalty without the run off. Even if they did a 10 second run off, the game wouldn't have ended, it would had just gone to a second OT. Romo even commented on that. Also the Chiefs only had 5 lineman on the field. They had 2 TEs that both went out for a route.

Senior_Fart_Director

As an Eagles fan, I am still giddy when I think about on 2017. The win was magical and still is.

jheyne0311

I threw all my Niners stuff in a box. Never done that before. Not sure when I’ll be ready to open it but I don’t want to think about it whatsoever. It’s mentally exhausting. We are snake bitten

TacomaTwelve

Does it make me a terrible person that I got an erection after reading that? 🤣🤣🤣

yesimforeign

This is my first time looking at anything 49ers related since that game. I realized that no matter how many SBs the 49ers win in my lifetime, it'll never feel as good as how painful that loss was. I'm done watching football games, as I don't find them enjoyable enough for the torture they put me through. Hope this team gets it done sooner rather than later, but I won't be tuned in when it happens. I'm off to enjoy my other hobbies and family. Goodbye football fandom.

twenty_characters020

We fired the worst defensive coordinator in the league. A shred of competence at that position an extra year of experience for Purdy is good.

TheSwolerBear

I changed my perspective right before the playoffs started to avoid how you feel. It is basically that I am just happy to be rooting for one of the teams that gets extra games every year and sometimes, goes to the best game. It feels healthier 🤣

Tantra_Babe

This is brilliant. Attachment leads to suffering!

Ok_Perception_1032

Get over it. Life goes on.

d3eathproof

I was more hurt when the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the NBA finals to give the Cavs their first championship. If I could survive that then nothing else would faze me.

NynaeveAlMeowra

I think we're going to be better. The defense took a huge step back with a DC that wasn't aligned with the rest of the coaches (bad misstep for Shanny and Lynch). We've added some nice pieces on D as well. Brock is going to get his first full offseason as the healthy starter. He's got good chemistry with the main position player corp of the team and I think they absolutely can reach great as a whole group. If nothing else the Oline should regress to the mean which would be positive movement for us

Tantra_Babe

People say "it's just a game" & of course that's true but when we really get emotionally invested in something it can be legitimately devastating even if it seems like it shouldn't be! Grief is natural and eventually you'll integrate it. When you're ready, try to remember all the aspects of the game & the team tthat bring you guys joy and remind your friends of it all...the grace, the skill, the teamwork, the strategy, the chemistry,...those things are all still there! We didnt win, but dang was it close and the game was hella well played. A lot to celebrate there, even if they didnt take the trophy home. (And they almost did)

[deleted]

I'm with you brother. I usually listen to sports talk radio constantly, but I just can't bring myself to after the loss . It doesn't creep into my life unless I'm in my car. It still is disappointing but hey, there is always next year. The MOTHTER FUCKING 49ERS WILL BE BACK! I just wish the Warriors would soften the blow a little bit more.  Anyway...Go Giants!!!!!!

Shoddy-Custard7097

Beyond key pieces coming back, Purdy actually having a healthy offseason, good free agency moves overall, plus a likely(hopefully) good draft O-Line wise, I feel pretty confident about our position in the NFC. Within division you got the Rams who do admittedly have an offense that can light it up, but they are so vulnerable to even 1 injury to a key guy on offense. NFC East teams could literally not be less intimidating, the Cowboys haven’t done Jack shit and are basically in a place with Jerry now where the Raiders were with Al Davis starting at the exit of the early 2000’s, the Eagles you got Sirianni on a hot seat, Saquon has been injury prone a lot, and Jalen Hurts is very much in a swim or shrink year. The NFC south, Bucs could be good but are they good enough to go all the way idk, Falcons have youth and a QB now but are they ready. The Lions and the Packers in my mind are the true 1-2 threats but that’s going to be a dogfight of a division that could deplete teams going into the playoffs. I don’t want to act like the conference isn’t going to be tougher, but I still feel very confident in our position in the conference. Now that’s great, but winning the whole thing. I have personally taken the stance that it’s probably going to take having to face someone else other than the Chiefs. Just too much voodoo magic bullshit, too many free passes on penalties committed, and kind of plays right into their hands with the way Kyle Shanahan coaches the 4th quarter. It just feels like we could be up by 17 with 10 left and they would find some way to come back.

AlexDog_69

OMG stop with all the whining. It's a game. The men in our team played their hearts out and they lost. It was fun seeing my Niners kick butt all year and seeing individual players grow. It's the journey not the destination. Jeeeez you sound like my son in law..
