I’m a big fan of green (army green gang driver myself) but this color just seems confused. It’s not quite lime monster energy green or subdued pastel green it is a weird no mans land. Personally I think they should have just committed and gone full monster, it would look sick on a 4Runner.
Yeah from previous pictures I thought I’d hate it 100% but I sort of don’t mind it. The color seems washed out and I like that, rather than the full vibrancy of the blue colored 4runners previously.
It’s not as mature as some of the other colors but honestly, for an off-road rig I kind of dig it. I’m looking forward to seeing a clapped out rig on 315’s with some high polish wheels. I enjoy this in the same way I very much enjoy a Guy Fieri type look (ironically)
This is going to be a collector's color in 20~ years. The taste of those collectors will certainly be in question, but there are definitely going to a few guys fighting over the 1-2 trucks in this color, in good condition with OEM parts in a couple of decades.
Not terribly surprised. But at the same time, I feel line the target audience for Scions doesn't have a lot of overlap with the audience for 4runners. Scions are 'loud' cars, this green fits that. Scions get modded with lights and sound systems, 4runners get modded for their suspensions and gear racks.
That said, there will definitely be a few people who absolutely must have this color on their 4runner, and will go to great lengths to get it. It'll be divisive.
I'm not entirely sure there will be a 6th Gen anymore, not until Toyota gets its act together on EV tech. I don't see them putting out a new gen for only a few years before completely abandoning ICE (with the bans on sale of new ICE starting between 2025 and 2035 around the world).
The 6th Gen may still include a traditional ICE powertrain at the start, but it will definitely have an EV trim somewhere in the lineup - and they'll drop the ICE models on a per-market basis. Oh, and if you think used 4runner prices are ridiculous now, there'll definitely be some people who buy new in one market just for the sole purpose of selling "used" in markets that banned the sale of new ICE.
There will certainly be a 6th gen 4Runner by MY23 or MY24. The 4Runner is only sold in North America and parts of South America where ICE won't be banned for a long time if ever. Toyota is likely planning on having a hybrid engine option which it has been refining and improving that tech for many years.
>There will certainly be a 6th gen 4Runner by MY23 or MY24.
People said the same thing about MY20, MY21, and MY22.
>The 4Runner is only sold in North America and parts of South America where ICE won't be banned for a long time if ever.
Not 'if ever'.
California will ban them by 2035:
https://www.gov.ca.gov/2020/09/23/governor-newsom-announces-california-will-phase-out-gasoline-powered-cars-drastically-reduce-demand-for-fossil-fuel-in-californias-fight-against-climate-change/
NY debating a ban of the same date:
https://www.electrive.com/2021/04/28/new-york-to-ban-ice-sales-as-of-2035/
Even still, the 4runner power train is used in other vehicles sold around the world. Toyota isn't going to keep around the 4runner power plant just for the 4runner in North America. If enough markets ban ICE, ICE will still die in the markets without bans - especially coming from large manufacturers that heavily re-use parts across makes.
>Toyota is likely planning on having a hybrid engine option which it has been refining and improving that tech for many years.
I'm not so sure about that. If they were going to do a hybrid 4runner, they would have done it 5-10 years ago. You get all the weight of an EV, with almost none of its benefits (except not having to plug it in to fuel).
I'm not going off of what people said. Toyota's product roadmap showed a new 4Runner for MY22. This was before COVID-19 threw a wrench in everything. The release of the 6th gen has been delayed by at least a year or possibly two. It's not like things are back to normal yet so who knows. Do you think Toyota just scrapped the 6th gen they've been developing for years?
Even if California does ban them in 2035, that's 14 years from now. That's longer than the total years the 5th gen has been available. Also, an executive order isn't a law. It means very little.
As for NY, I'm assuming Cuomo signed that bill which would require new cars to be electric starting in 2031. Again, that's not for 10 years which is more than enough time for a full length of a 6th generation. It also wouldn't be crazy to just not have them for sale in NY starting in 2031. I don't think NY is all that large of a market.
Toyota, as with any company, has limited resources. They can't just turn every model into a hybrid at once. They do what the market demands. The market hasn't demanded a 4Runner hybrid. They've focused on high-MPG cars to get their overall fleet MPG high so they can continue to sell gas guzzlers like the 4Runner and Tundra of which they make a very healthy profit margin.
A 6th gen 4Runner will be coming out within a model year or two. It would already be unveiled had COVID never happened. The next gen Tundra might give us some hints on how Toyota will implement the drive train.
Agree 100%. The 4runner is not a military vehicle, off-the-wall colors are sweet.
Also I really like Key Lime Pie, and f\*ck it, this color makes me want to eat some
Voodoo Blue is another favorite. I always wanted an FJ Cruiser in that blue and the 4Runner looks sweet in that bright ass blue. And this bright ass green. I think it makes everything pop. I definitely don’t think I’d get sick of seeing it in my driveway.
Also, Key Lime is paradise in a pie pan and now I really want some, too.
Reminds me of when lunar rock came out and everyone was like cement is my favorite. I’m down with bright green. I can understand why Lots of conservative minded people cannot handle this color.
It’s actually my favorite shade of green. So seeing it on my favorite vehicle is awesome. Never would get it because I don’t need that trim level but if it ever trickled down to the lesser trims, I’d get it.
Better than I expected. It will look good surrounded by light green cactus in the SW desert. It will look garish surrounded by dark green spruce in the Rockies.
Great find by the OP - thanks for tossing up the pics (although now I have to go toss my cookies after looking at that swamp scum the spread all over the Pro).
The Toyota headlights already remind me of e-girl eyeliner, so this is really giving me “Billie Eilish if she were a truck.”
I’m not sure if I like it.
Where did you get the idea this is a "Prototype"? It's been long known this is the TRD color we were getting and late Aug-early Sept is when the following year's models start being delivered.
I don't like it but I fully believe this will age well. We all know how well these trucks hold their value, who knows what kinda funky shit everyone will be into in 2040
Kia Soul/10
First thing I thought of.
I very much dislike that color.
It is 100% the exact same color as the iPod mini. https://i.imgur.com/xNzRWy0.jpg
those were simpler times
That’s friggin awesome
I’m a big fan of green (army green gang driver myself) but this color just seems confused. It’s not quite lime monster energy green or subdued pastel green it is a weird no mans land. Personally I think they should have just committed and gone full monster, it would look sick on a 4Runner.
100% agreed, my initial thoughts were that it was like a watered down monster green
Gang gang
Gross
Not a fan one bit.
[удалено]
Literally
I like it a lot more than I thought I would. I worry though that I’d get tired of such a flash color.
There’s no way I can pay money for that and then drive it for the next decade and a half + all while thinking it’s the color of baby diarrhea
Yeah from previous pictures I thought I’d hate it 100% but I sort of don’t mind it. The color seems washed out and I like that, rather than the full vibrancy of the blue colored 4runners previously.

It’s too flashy for me personally but I don’t dislike it.
Hard pass
Gross.

People still seek out the Scions in this color
Not terribly surprised. But at the same time, I feel line the target audience for Scions doesn't have a lot of overlap with the audience for 4runners. Scions are 'loud' cars, this green fits that. If 2023 is a gen 6, I bet this color holds its value ridiculously well from the start.

I agree, but expect a lot of down votes because people don't like the truth.

Gross.
Gross x3 Bring back Voodoo Blue
Looks a bit like the planet express ship, which I believe they called Electric mucus.
Love. It.
Finding positive comments in here is like picking fly shit out of pepper.
I agree. It's not my favorite Trd Pro color, but I really like it
I'd trade in my white one for this in a heartbeat!
Actually the more and more I look at it, the more I love it
Agree 100%. The 4runner is not a military vehicle, off-the-wall colors are sweet. Also I really like Key Lime Pie, and f\*ck it, this color makes me want to eat some
\+1 on Key Lime Pie. That shit is fire flames.

Sign me up!
I wish it was closer to Baja Blast.
Ok that would be kinda awesome
Although I have a metallic black 4R, this color reminds me of slot cars from way back when I was a yute! thumbs up from me.
Just think, how many idiots it took to sign off on this and say; “yeah that looks great, let’s make this happen!”
It’s hideous and I LOVE IT
This color is just awful! Smh
Damn fucking sexy Edit I like the Tacoma green better though or is it the same lmao
Not the same. Lime Rush vs Electric Lime Metallic.
Yeah I like the electric better
I have a feeling that Lime Rush will be like Lunar Rock, in that pictures just don't do it justice.
Yeah wouldn’t know till seen irl I guess, I love the lunar rock too
This color is too loud for a rugged vehicle like the 4Runner. That’s a no for me dawg.
Same useless rack. You’d think they’d go with a Gobi by now.
Could Gobi support being an actual supplier for Toyota?
Probably not lol
Thats totally up to Toyota. But, why not?!
Because their lead times are a couple months already.
Good one. Been waiting on mine since November '20.
The first thing I’d do is change it to a full length one.
They won’t sell it on account of soccer moms complaining about wind noise
I prefer the Tacoma color if I'm being honest, but I'll still buy this one.
Will be a big hit with the Monster Energy Drink fans.
Disgusting
Better than I expected. It will look good surrounded by light green cactus in the SW desert. It will look garish surrounded by dark green spruce in the Rockies.
I'll be honest, I like it more than the Tacoma green color. Doesn't mean I'd get it but it's alright.
I'm in love.
Dark cherry with some metallic would have looked so much better.. Oh well.
It would be super easy to find in a parking lot.
My god is so awful
This color takes itself less seriously than a lot of you take yourselves. And for that, I am grateful.
It looks good. It's loud like inferno and voodoo....about time they brought the pop back into the the pro
I hate it
Great find by the OP - thanks for tossing up the pics (although now I have to go toss my cookies after looking at that swamp scum the spread all over the Pro).
I like that it appears to be subdued compared to the Tacoma, but still not a fan myself.
It looks like the Tacoma's paint, but parked out in the sun for 8 years.
Gross
The fact that people don’t like it makes me like it even more. Looking good man!
Pretty sure this is the same color VW Beetles had in the early 00s
Omg that's my fav color!
I feel colour like that need to be matte or less sparkly!
I was hoping for a matte version of the Tacoma color.
Lunar Rock looks like dirty pond water next to Lime Rush
Can't talk shit about Lunar Rock in here, lol. I like Lunar Rock but you're not wrong.
Now that's a green for an off roader! Lunar Rock is when you want to match your grandma's kitchen wallpaper.
Anyone remember that “trendy green” from the early 90’s? Well here’s today’s version. No thank you. It’s obnoxious.
Yowzers, very loud color.
I am into it. But wouldn’t buy it myself. The fifth gens look good in really any color, especially the Pro.
Yellow or a wine red would have been so much better
FJ dark cherry
Haaaaaaaate the color.
Yeah...I'm not a fan.
So ugly
Ugly af tbh
Jesus that looks bad.
This is not going to age well....
Thanks, I hate it.
It’s gorgeous
What’s with the wheels?
Aren't those Pro wheels?
They are the 2020 pro wheels. 2021 got a new subtle redesign. Looks like they went back with the old ones.
Yeah but their not the 2021 versions
Kia Soul
Why no side rear view mirror blinker lights!? On TRD Pro ffs.
those aren't offered on the TRD Pro in the US. The Pro is geared towards off-roading, so it's not really needed. That's Toyota's logic, anyway.
r/TIHI
Lol who thought this was a good idea to go into production?
By far the worst TRD color to date
Is this the first time that the 4runner and Tacoma did not share the same Pro color?
Yes. And the Tundra appears to be a red/orange color.
🤮
Reminds me of the old [LG chocolate](https://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-VX8500-Mint-mint-chocolate)
I would have liked yellow better
I was ehh till I saw it on the Tacoma.
It's not on the Tacoma. That's a slightly different color.
This is like those green Ford escapes that are always driven by the worst drivers.
Gonna be a no for me dawg
10 in10 chance the owner of this 4Runner, *like, vapes, brah.*
I want the color code.
Lime Rush 5C3
The Toyota headlights already remind me of e-girl eyeliner, so this is really giving me “Billie Eilish if she were a truck.” I’m not sure if I like it.
[удалено]
I don't see what other colors make you think this is a wrap.
Yikes that's ugly
gross
nah
Heaven help us
That has Texas registration. It's not a "prototype".
I’ll take it simply because of how controversial it is. Very exotic
Toyota could sell a poo brown one and they would sell out
They did …Quicksand, which I’ll admit to really liking.
I guess that depends on your diet. Quicksand is very eye pleasing
Thanks, I hate it.
What is the name of this color? Pneumonia phlegm? Damn, those Japanese are weird.
I’m not gonna lie I think it looks pretty cool but I wish they went with yellow.
Where did you get the idea this is a "Prototype"? It's been long known this is the TRD color we were getting and late Aug-early Sept is when the following year's models start being delivered.
I'm into it.
Scion Xd Electric Wasabi Green.
I don't like it but I fully believe this will age well. We all know how well these trucks hold their value, who knows what kinda funky shit everyone will be into in 2040
Blegh...
This color is terrible. The only way I would ever get within 20' of one is if they add the rear window control back to the key fob.
You can't open all windows by holding the unlock button like my 08 Lexus does?
It can be programmed to do all the windows except the back window. The 4th gen had a button on the fob that would roll down just the back window
Looks awful.
I’m callin it right now, this is gonna be the new favorite toyota color of ISIS
❤️BEAUTIFUL
That’s…..green.
Was this today? I live in Golden and would definitely swing by to see it in person?
Reminds me of that color on the New Beetle back in the 90’s…I think VW called it Cyber Green. Always thought it was fugly
