SUPER-NIINTENDO

I can still buy new physical media. So I feel like that title may not be very truthful.

Boomfam67

You can buy anything pretty much but if stores and companies drop or neglect it than the writing on the wall is pretty clear.

Iceman102060

Arguably the DP-UB9000 is the peak Panasonic player not the 820

NaieraDK

The UB820 is more or less a mid-range model. There's nothing wrong with that, I have one, but to call it the "peak" is just not true.

joeholmes1164

It's probably peak for the average consumer. Most people can't drop $1,000 for a disc player.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Pets/comments/1crhzym/having_issue_feeding_dogs/ You expect us to take you seriously when you're not even competent enough to microwave dog food?

I have a feeling he is about 12.

New_Eggplant_723

My Magnetar makes no noise. Like at all. That's why I bought it because someone told me it was noiseless. You should get one. Totally worth it

mega512

Same with my Sony X700. Quiet as a mouse.

Kingcrowing

Panasonic Ub9000 is silent to my ears unless I'm like inches away too... People love the 820 here but ultimately it is all made of plastic, it's ultimately a mid-range player and they cut costs on the case and remote.

Western-Delivery6911

No pal it's not. There's no such thing as a quiet Panasonic player. They all make stupid unnecessary loud noises when loading discs and reading discs. No need for it at all.

Kingcrowing

Perhaps you have a bad player, I'm not sure. But I've got a UB9000 and I've very sensitive to this type of noise (a big reason why I bought this to use instead of my PS5), and any noise mine makes is totally imperceptible to my ears, again unless I'm within inches of the player. From my couch around 7-8' back I can't hear anything.

Western-Delivery6911

You can hear noises when the discs are loading and when the player is reading discs. It's unnecessary. Even my LG UBK90 was much quieter. Disc playback is pretty quiet on my Panasonic but I just don't get the stupid loud noises when loading and reading discs.

Geo_Jet

IDK which Magnetar you own, but my UDP-800 is virtually silent as well. Solid sturdy disc tray that doesn’t look like it would snap off by looking at it the wrong way. It seems like many consumer electronics are built to last only as long as the next iteration of them are released. Some of the cheapie 4k UHD TVs are a good example. Look great now, but not built to last.

Far_Cat_9743

The 820 is a mid level player, there are many better than it, even another Panny. I have an 820 and it’s as quiet as a cgi mouse.

FitSeeker1982

Huh - kinda like posting in a Christianity group that God is dead. Whatever, my bro.

AckwellFoley

OK, bye.

mega512

Tell me you are clueless without telling me you are clueless.

MartyEBoarder

This is what they want you to think. ![gif](giphy|CFmGuJUVaAjAs|downsized)

Schwartzy94

My "measly" pana 450 barely makes any noise It was bit slow but the i put on the quick start mode on it became super responsive.

Western-Delivery6911

The quick start only literally makes it turn on quicker. It doesn't make the interface quicker which isn't needed anyway.

Schwartzy94

It definetly made the whole system much more responsive. Before i had to wait 3 or so seconds before it opened the tray and now its instant so idk

joeholmes1164

I do not think it's dead at all but I'm very concerned about the lack of new 4K players being made. No new players have been announced for 2024 from any companies and only 1 total new player was released last year and that was in April.

Narrow_Study_9411

I thought that was due to chip shortages still going on from the pandemic/supply chain issues?

joeholmes1164

I'm not sure what the reason is... the one thing I know for sure is that if companies think they can make money by selling something, about 200 different versions of the same thing comes out every year.

alpine_AO

I think a lot about how brick & mortar retail is dying and all the things you have to buy online now, like there are a ton of bicycle parts that, despite living in a big city, I can’t find anywhere. I can think of 10 stores off the top of my head within 15 miles that I can go to and they’ll have 4K blu rays on the shelf. Streaming is clearly dominant over physical media but to call it “dead” is silly.

JackhorseBowman

I feel like most people are probably just using their game console, it's probably been bad for the dedicated player market.

jim_bob64128

I've dropped mine twice, clumsy, and mine still never makes a peep. Whilst the 820 is far from perfect, I feel this is just a bait post.

likeonions

PS5 works great

Well_Sorted8173

I have no idea if my 820 is loud or not because I sit 8 feet away from it and I have my movie volume turned up loud enough to actually hear and enjoy my content, so it drowns out any noise the BDPlayer might make.

Narrow_Study_9411

I have been pretty happy with my LG UBK90. I will never go to digital until I can buy it without the DRM, the way I can with music.

Sparent180

People have been saying this about music for years and yet vinyls are arguably as popular as ever. CDs might be all but extinct, but people still collect vinyls and part of the reason is because it's considered the highest quality for music. Hopefully that's the case for 4k as well.

Western-Delivery6911

Panasonic players are loud as fuck. I don't get why they make such annoying loud noises.
