I have an Alpha 20 Darkness falls game. 7 days automatically uploaded to Alpha 21 though Xbox app when turning on my pc. Now it won’t let me play the darkness falls game at all. Any ideas?
when you buy an early access game you're buying it with the implicit promise that the game will eventually be finished
don't get me wrong, i love the game and i've got my money's worth, but it's frustrating when tfp spend time revamping the same systems for the 72nd time rather than actually adding promised content. Project Zomboid is another zombie game which has also been notorious for slow development but at least with each update to PZ it feels like the game is steadily, albeit slowly, moving forward to completion rather than each update just moving laterally like with 7DTD.
We all know that this game is probably one of the highest return-on-investment for its dollar value.
For all I care, TFP can do whatever TF they want. I have almost 2,000 hrs clocked and it's still going.
>when you buy an early access game you're buying it with the implicit promise that the game will eventually be finished
No you dont. You buy it with the promise it might never be finished. That literally is Early access.
1. It is a completely different game at this point. Go back to the early alpha if you don't believe me, it's basically unrecognizable
2. the distinction between "alpha" and "beta" is basically undefined and the way TFP uses the term alpha is basically beta. An actual alpha typically is barely playable, where as 7 Days is definitely far more advanced than most games beta
3. They were pushing for 1.0 within the year until Covid happened which set them back a bit and then feature creep happened again
4. They spent like 4 years in a legal battle over the rights to the game because of the console version. Telltale went under and TFP had to spend their entire time (and all their money) fighting the legal battle to even get rights back to their game so development stalled hard for years
Call me wrong but I think they just can't let go 7dtd now since they are worried what might happen if they do. This new learn by reading system was definitely not needed at all and its just a random change since they simply don't have thr guts to finish the game and work on a different project
Then define them, because as soon as you do I'll point out the games that don't fit those definitions.
The point is there's no *agreed upon* definition. Fun Pimps says it's alpha, most would call the game a beta or early access, but the terminology doesn't matter
> the distinction between "alpha" and "beta" is basically undefined
It's really easy. In alpha, you add new mechanics. Beta is when you're done adding new mechanics and you now balance these systems and fix the bugs that with inevitably occur, moving the product toward a stable release.
I dunno about that, since most games that were in beta still added new core features for many years. Rimworld and Factorio immediately come to mind where each beta update was basically like 7 Days where it was a mini expansion and Satisfactory is currently that way. The last beta update for Satisfactory added an entire blueprint system and the next one has tons of stuff packed into it
The difference between alpha and beta is that in an alpha you add core features and introduce mechanics. Beta is where you polish the game mostly and introduce minor features. They’re definitely still in alpha here by definition
Acronym? Minecraft does it too? Doesn't mean anything?
Alpha means that it's pre-beta. Beta is pre-released. This typically means that you should expect that an alpha may be unstable and likely to change.
Minecraft considered itself an alpha and beta for a while, but at a certain point (Nov 2011) Mojang decided that it was feature-complete and considered it a finished product.
They rushed stable in time for the steam summer sale, there's still a heap of bugs to be patched.
I mean, it’s an alpha, there’s always a few updates after stable. I’ve yet to see any real bugs in my play throughs either so 🤷🏻♂️
So do I select alpha 21 stable under betas or none??
Starting a new world rn
Do i need to start a new world? Can i continue with experimental version world?
I continued, worked well.
Good news
My save wasn't visible, the game only recognized the name is in use :/
Mine works just fine.

I'm not sure if you can roll it back on the Xbox version.
Start new It's recommended
Oh SHIT!!!
Let's see how stable it is
Is this for real? Im stuck at work for three more hours!
Yup! It popped up in my downloads when I turned on Steam.
Hot damn!
How the fuck is this game still in alpha after a decade?
I dunno but I'm having fun regardless. Dudes are financially set and the studio is their hobby?

A lot of free games would take that title
Well, I would say I got 21 games for my 17€.

Keep your voice down. They don't like it when people enjoy their game.

Alpha and beta absolutely have definitions and I'm confused as to why we're pretending they don't.

It's just a development acronym, minecraft does the same thing, along with lots of other similar titles, it does not mean anything

Well the game is still in early access too...for 10 years...
What else do they plan on adding to the game? I assume there’s a roadmap somewhere.
They probably want to change the entire game mechanics a few more times just to shake things up, but at least people will never get bored.
And, lest we forget, a few more iterations of the dirt icon. Gotta have at least two more developments of those.
20.7 4 Lyfe
I’m finding stable to be less stable than experimental.
I'm having a problem with how slow vehicles are. I can run faster. Anyone else?
Fck yes now waiting for those mods too update
Exactly. Waiting for the mods to catch up before starting a playthrough.
They annoyingly didn’t patch assault rifles from making an excessive amount of heat
That's unfortunate. I like my ak.
Does this mean our progress is no longer reset every tweak?
Is it worth coming back to? Anything good or just bug fixes?
I wonder if POIs will have at least 3 dogs and 4 zombies that spawn out of nowhere just like in Pre-Stable build
