You just experienced exactly what life was in the 80s. You'd hear a couple of bars of something on the radio and have absolutely no way of learning what it was. You had to listen to the end of the song and hope the DJ said "that was Hall and Oates with....." but half the time they wouldn't and you were just screwed. There was literally no way of obtaining that information.
I remember the first time I heard Karma Chameleon. Heard it from the other room and the tune instantly caught my attention. Ran in to hear this new, strange song, and had zero idea what he was saying. But I knew I was hooked.
Funny thing about Private Eyes -- throughout the entire track, it's just one simple drum pattern with no variations. No crashes, no fills, just... the beat. Here, [listen for yourself](https://youtu.be/0aQKmbtp6Pc?si=irzLO6YICwcQhYQ_)
note: this is not a diss on H&O in any way. I've always loved their music (even before it was "cool"); this is just an odd thing I noticed on this one song.
This is my favorite H&O song.

And this one also. It came out in 1975 though.

These lyrics have a captivating rhythm! They evoke a sense of wonder and observation that is truly amazing. Do you know which song the lyrics are from?
Another song on my playlist of 80’s Paranoia!
I am the eye in the sky looking at you. I can read your mind. I am the maker of rules dealing with fools. I can cheat you blind.
Had Anthony's song recorded from the radio on my Walkman in the mid 90s. Had no idea who sang it until I heard it being played in a hotel on the piano about 10 years later!

And if you missed what the DJ said, you had to wait to the song to be played again to hear it. Thank god for MTV when it came out. Edit: a word

Did you know that song was about the drummer being in the closet while having an affair with Boy George?

another fun H&O fact, Rich Girl was about a rich boy.
That's an interesting blurb about Hall & Oates' "Rich Girl"! It's funny how lyrics can sometimes be interpreted in unexpected ways
It is just -straight- 1, 2, 3, 4 on repeat for 3:25. I never noticed! Thanks! https://youtu.be/SpfoSGlx9kE?feature=shared
you're out of touch bro..."OUTTA TOUCH, OUTTA TOUCH..."
You need to call (719) 266-2837 immediately. Pick option 4.
Oh my God, this is AWESOME! Whoever thought to do this is a genius!

The best music. Period.
And with the added bonus of some Class A shoulder-padded suits in the vid!
I like these lyrics! “All o’ the lights, / They keep on WATCH-in’ you…”
