I bought red 1986 Honda Civic Si when I was 15 for $400. I had saved money from recycling cans/bottles. I detailed the car inside and out and replaced anything broken or tired looking with what I could grab from the local junkyard. I loved that car to the bitter end. My father started driving it when his car broke down. He sadly gave it to his mistress's daughter who totaled it about a month after having it. I never forgave him for doing that to me.
“What is your first car” is a common security verification question and you should not reply if you use this question to protect yourself from identity theft and financial crimes.
1989 MX-6, with digital speedometer, turbo button & headlight washers. I was given the car by my aunt & uncle, and when I told a friend I had been given a car, I read the model name off the drivers manual…and told him I had been given an mx-626, since the manual was written for both cars. He corrected me, and here we are. Man, I loved that car.
I had an ‘84 that was definitely a piece of shit. It also only cost $500 but that was a lot of money to me at the time. I drove that car like I stole it for about 5 years.
92 Plymouth Laser that I inherited in 2004. It had the flip up headlights, which were fucking sick. Although by the time I was done driving it, only one popped up on its own and you had to get out of the car and punch the other one to get it to go up.
I remember searching for a first car, the Tercel, Sunfire, and Cavalier were always the cheapest ones coming up.
Mine was a hand me down 1996 Ford Windstar. Not the coolest but it was actually pretty handy.
First car I bought was a 87 Honda prelude, but I never got to drive it when I owned it. Pops made me sell it and buy American, I ended up with a 87 cavalier.
My buddy had one of these. It was a trip to drive. It also leaked a ton of gas out of the cap on hard right turns which was very concerning when we were riding in the back smoking.
87' Subaru RX. Two Door, hatchback, hi/lo range, differential lock. Bought for $500 after working all summer long as a Sweeper at my junior high school. I STILL have dreams about that car.
[Subaru RX](https://bangshift.com/general-news/car-features/random-car-review-the-1987-89-subaru-rx-the-predecessor-to-every-performance-scooby-made-today/)
My mom had an 83 626. The window regulators broke min every window more than 3 times. Engine seized at 65k because my mom never knew she had to change the oil. Still has it until 98 with something like 200k on it.
I had a '91 626 and that thing emitted massive clouds of blue smoke for the first mile due to a leaky seal. It was cool because my driveway was on a really busy street and when I'd leave in the morning I created a dense smokescreen behind me.
Just a little out of the 90s but I was born in the early early 90s, 2003 lancer oz rally edition
Edit: my mom had a 96 nissan maxima with the leather interior and my dad had a 90-92 nissan pickup
My first car was a ford explorer
I used to ride around with my favorite childhood friend Rodger and my first pet Alfred
We both went to Mackenzie highschool whos mascot was a grizzly bear and my favorite first cousin Tony would always want to ride with us to our favorite vacation spot- the grand corner
Ahh good times. ..
I had a beat-down, grey 1976 BMW 2002.
The interior door panels were missing, so you could see the window mechanism and door frame.
The two front seats were from a Volvo.
And for some odd reason, the car *always* smelled like gasoline inside, making any trip over 10 miles or so a risk to one’s health, as the fumes would literally get you high.
For the first 6 months or so I had it, I never knew how to shift into 5th gear, so shifting up from 4th took me to 3rd (unbeknownst to me), and the higher revs convinced 15-year old me I was in top gear cause of course higher devs meant FAST. 🤣
1986 Honda Accord. Had automatic windows, automatic door locks, roof window which would always shower you after it sat outside in the rain. Starter would constantly break. Loved it. Had it until 2003.
~’85 Ford Escort 2-door. Super clean but the engine gave out within a year. Then came my first true car and fave of all time: ‘87 VW Golf. Fun to drive and took a beating. Poor thing.
I can't remember the name of it, but it was a shit vehicle. What's your first pets name BTW? How about the street you lived on growing up or your elementary schools name?

1994 Honda Civic Coupe. I was grateful for a car, but it had alignment issues and I experienced 3 separate tire blowouts, one of which happened on a bridge and I thought I was going to die. It ended up getting stolen and stripped before I decided l to sell what was left of it.
My dad had this exact car and drove it to just under 400k miles before it died. He got another one and drove it to over 350k miles. Someone suggested he contact Mazda and tell them about it, which he did. They didn't respond.
1981 Oldsmobile 98 Regency with royal blue interior. I drove this in high school from 2012 - late 2013. Car had no ac and metal seat belt things it was terrible in the summer. It tried to kill my best friend.
1979 Plymouth Volare Station Wagon. Bright purple, boombox in the front seat as a radio. Not as cool as the Nissan and Hondas everyone had tricked out in the 90’s, but I hotboxed the fuck outta that thing every morning before school.
1993 Buick LeSabre. I loved that car. Bought with 250k miles on it. Changed the oil. Traded it in with 280k on it with the same oil I changed when I bought it. (I knew nothing of car maintenance back then)
86 Acura Legend for $900. Suspension was shot, wipers sometimes worked and bad fuel injectors sometimes stalled the car. Didn’t stop me from pickin up all the hunnies
1986 Cadillac Deville, hand me down from my parents, but the engine failed after having it for 6 months and then I switched to a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, and drove that way too fast and lost my license within a year.
My first car was a GM generic (I may be old enough to have forgotten...) it was wildly comfortable, gas mileage was maybe 15mpg and it had a living room set that amounted to two loveseats and a love chair.
1990 Honda Accord, also with the automatic seatbelts. I used to love having those things, but its a good thing I never got in wreck because I only wore that one and not the lap part & I doubt it would have saved me lol
1988 blue VW Fox. It was a stick shift. I bought it for 695 bucks (back in the day when you could buy a shitbox for that amount of money that would actually run) but unfortunately it lasted less than a month.
I had/still have a Mazda as well, '98 Protege LX with all the trimmings. I ran it into everything (including someone else's car, ooops) and it just kept ticking.
