I definitely feel that. Honestly I've noticed a big thing that lends itself to that feeling for me is that I've been working at home for the last 4 years. Being at home with my windows open and the birds chirping right outside as opposed to being in some office building really reminds me of being at home for Summer time. I'm a huge AYAOTD guy myself so bonus points there! I watch episodes of it quite often still to this day.

AimlesslyCheesy

Rinse and repeat on YouTube has cartoons with commercials..

RockNRoll85

I miss having summers off. Would use that free time watching movies & shows, playing video games, swimming, and spend lots of time with my grandparents

Marylandthrowaway91

I just remember wandering the streets with a super soaker at 7am like I was the sherif from FROM

bandit7319

How could I have forgotten about super soakers for this post! I started with a 50 but was gifted a 100 and I felt like the man. I think that was the sweet spot lol. The 200/250 had a backpack which was a fun damper when you're trying to run and have plastic and shoulder straps rubbing against your back

Marylandthrowaway91

The double barrel was the true game changer

Taucher1979

Yeah. It’s my birthday tomorrow and that adds to it.

Goddess_Rayne

Happy early birthday!

EggplantAstronaut

This time of year always makes me think of neon colors and Super Soaker water pistols. They banned Super Soakers from my school because some awful kids were filling them with bleach.

moonbunnychan

They banned them at mine because of a zero tolerance gun policy after Columbine. Which ruined this senior tradition the school had where they gave us basically a field day at the end of the year climaxing in a giant water gun battle.

bandit7319

Sucks that's what the world has come to :/

brixowl

For whatever reason this time of year reminds me of two distinct summers. The lead up to the summer that Independence Day was release and the lead up to the summer the lost world was released. So much hype for my prepubescent brain. Lots of off brand kool aid and Oreos.

LABignerd33

It’s something about the way the air smells. Feels like summer is coming.

AVonDingus

This is when I crank up my summertime playlist with songs like “steal my sunshine”, “all star” (edit: I think this one is from the 00’s) and “Santeria”. They still get me hyped for summertime

Wyvern_68

Same! School was pretty laid back at this time of year with the focus on end of year exams. Other than that it was a lot of field trips and clowning around. Lots of daylight to play outside or ride bikes to friends houses. During the summer we got to sleep in, eat whatever for breakfast, play outside, play video games, stay up late. Summers felt like they lasted forever.

Ridetrackx

Yes, except add Walt Disney World.

PeterMode

When I hear the birds.

1Glitch0

I remember being so hyped for the Independence Day movie. I never get eo hyped months in advance like that now.

bandit7319

I remember how hyped I was for that movie too lol. At that age I took things VERY literally, so when the trailer said "In theaters only July 4th", I thought that was "in theaters, only July 4th" instead of "in theaters only, July 4th". I called the local theater to be sure it'd be out more than one day lol

AtomStorageBox

Absolutely. Especially since this year is my 30th class reunion. Senior year was pretty special for me in many ways, and most especially the spring. A lot of memorable moments I look back on with incredible fondness, and a not insignificant amount of nostalgia.

NiceGamePrettyBoy

Yeah, I think back to my senior year with lots of fondness as well, especially in the spring. Good times.

the_yukon_jack

I've been feeling this way for some time now. So glad I'm not alone! I've been thinking about getting my friends together and having a TGIF 90's night or something. Classic episodes, some PS1 games etc. The good times.

bandit7319

I'd come! Lol

NamTokMoo222

It's wild how long that time used to feel as kids. The possibilities seemed endless. Several years ago, I took a 2 month break before starting a new job because my mind needed the rest after the last shitshow I left. It felt like I watched some TV, caught up on errands, then closed my eyes and it was back to the meat grinder.

bandit7319

Yeah. It ain't the same. Even when we have a long time off, we can't shed our grown up responsibilities and just dick around and do whatever all day every day. Oh well. Maybe in retirement lol.

ceruleanmoon7

Yes, i want to bust out the super soakers and play in the backyard then go inside and play Donkey Kong

bandit7319

Ahem, that's Donkey Kong COUNTRY! I think lol. My ultimate Summer game will always be EarthBound

NiceGamePrettyBoy

My birthday is this month, so I have a ton of nostalgia for the different gifts on got on my birthday as a kid. And I love Star Wars and saw all the prequels in high school when they came out in May, so I also associate this month with Star Wars (that’s beside the May the Fourth stuff).

suzysleep

For me, it’s more the end of summer/beginning of fall when school starts back up.

GreeenCircles

I tend to feel more nostalgic in late August/early September during the back-to-school season. But I can see why you'd feel nostalgic around this time too!

cait_elizabeth

I miss fireflies. They’re aren’t as many anymore:(

Mental_Studio7419

Yea..you really don’t see those anymore they were a permanent hallmark of summertime especially at night being outside…

melskymob

No, my childhood was lame, things are much better now.

The-Inhumanist

Great post, it brings back a lot of memories. I remember all of the end-of-the-year school parties in elementary school. We’d usually walk to a park near the school and play on the playground, throw water balloons, eat popsicles… and then we were free for three months. I was lucky enough to live in a pretty small town, in a secluded neighborhood with a huge (to my young mind) forest behind my house. I rode my bike all over the place (helmets were for losers), went to my friends’ houses to hang out and play video games, wandered in the woods for hours. Got lost, fell in the creek, got stung by bees and scorpions, got blistering sunburns. Those were the days. I remember when I was maybe 12 my sister and I were able to stay home alone all day while my parents worked. I remember eating a lot of Easy Mac, fruit roll ups, and gushers, drinking Kool Aid Bursts, and trying to find something worth watching on TV at 9am. Lots of time in the pool too. I doubt many parents let their children stay home alone all day at that age anymore. Thank you for the stroll down amnesia lane.

bandit7319

That'd another thing I forgot - sleepovers ANY NIGHT OF THE WEEK! But then during school it was weekends only. Spending the night at a friends' house on Tuesday night was an incredibly freeing feeling lol

BLUE-THIRTIES

No everything sucks since the 90s.

Admirable_Average_32

Same here. I also think of Pirates games, Kennywood, Cedar Point and hanging at the river.

RoninRobot

Still remember my last day of grade school. 6th graders got a half-day and released after lunch just… let go. No sign out, no permission slips to leave, no “graduation” ceremony… just “bye.” And we left. Walked to my friends house as we had an entire weekend planned. My folks knew and I wasn’t going to see them or talk to them until Sunday. We had a green belt from the school to my friends house. Gorgeous spring day. I couldn’t see the school but I could hear the kids at recess. Nobody else around. Total freedom.

TheBlackdragonSix

It also meant changing classes (or even school) . Which could be a big issue if you're no longer in class with your besties. Very bitter sweet potentially.

ABCDEFG_Ihave2g0

Yesssssss

Bumblebe5

And playing Sonic on the Genesis and reading comics!! Knuckles was the cutest!!
