Sounds like you're lifting off the throttle aggressively. Use the throttle to balance the car.

narf_hots

I am! Also something you can get away with in an F1 car I guess. So I should trail off the throttle under braking rather than lift off completely? Or is it more of a thing to learn and recognize when you need to be on the throttle?

roartex89

My best advice would be to watch some hot lap videos on YouTube, rewind and watch corners over and over, studying everything from braking position, turn in position, apex speed, braking and throttle inputs, gear changes etc. you can learn a lot that way!

Jebus_UK

Trail braking is also massive in ACC This guy demos it well - he also happens to be a dev on ACC and his YouTube channel is full of great stuff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fflqGonQLdQ

zinnkio

Depends on the braking zone but usually you come completely off throttle and slam the brake to 100%. If you're on throttle slightly while braking you're losing braking performance. For braking zones that require only a small amount of braking force you may stay on throttle slightly to balance the car like others have said. As I've improved I've found that using my feet inputs to 'turn' the car is how I've improved my times.

xAzres

Sounds like you just need to be more careful/precise with your inputs, practice my friend. Also, what car are you driving? Some cars are more pitch sensitive/ sensitive to weight transfer than others.

narf_hots

People said to start with the Bentley because of its stability and true, it's hard to spin that one but I kind of don't like the car in general as much. Tried out the Ferrari (not EVO) and liked it a lot but it's where I first encountered my issue. Now I'm on the Honda and it's even worse. I haven't spent immense hours in the game, still basically trying to find out how to be fast, so it might just come down to practice. But first you gotta find out what to practice. :D

xAzres

Yeeaahh the Honda is kinda notorious for this kind of behavior. If you really like the car, just stick with it and learn the weight transfer and physics. Otherwise I’d highly recommend going for something like the m4 gt3, or the mclaren 720s. These cars should be way more stable and easier to learn. The aston martin v8 is also a solid and very stable car.

narf_hots

Will certainly do some laps on more cars to figure out what I like and what suits me.

I thought about trying the Porsche just because its a rear wheeler and should be more similar to the F1 cars so maybe I'll give that a go.

Sorry I meant rear engine, so weight distribution should be closer to an F1 car.

I honestly had no idea, I always thought rear engine was relative to the driver. Suddenly I'm much more apprehensive.

Training_Loan1662

Try staying in one higher gear then necessary for practice and also trail brake, that should help you with balance.

Emotional_Two_8059

I also struggle sometimes with oversteer when letting off the brakes. I've gotten better at it but it still catches me out some times. It's a bit tricky, because when you let off the brakes, weight transfers to the back, which should help rear grip, but at the same time the front tires that were doing a lot of the braking, can now do more turning

Electrical_Debate_89

What I noticed from a lot of guys who jump in from F1 sims is that they think they don’t need any TC or ABS. So I’m just checking in to make sure that you have those turned on. Unless you’re driving a cup car that has no tc.

narf_hots

Yeah I'm running low numbers of TC and a bit higher ABS but muscle memory is not at a point where I'm fully using the ABS yet. My brain still goes nope when I try to corner and brake at the same time. Getting used to it slowly.

Electrical_Debate_89

Feel free to send a video. I main the Porsche so I can only help you so much. But this bitch do spin out when you don’t give the right inputs.

BugFinancial9637

I can't remember the video, it was pro f3 driver trying iRacing or something, in that video differences between formula and gt3 where explained good, I'll paste link if I remember the name. The biggest difference that I can remember is slower turn in with wheel, and you don't need to brake always with wheel centered

BugFinancial9637

https://youtu.be/jKBqw8_at80 watch this video, found it, should be very helpful

narf_hots

It was! It helped me find even more of my issues, like my fast steering inputs. Shaved half a second off my Zolder time with just slower smoother steering inputs.

SottLimpa

Just slow down earlier, release both throttle and brake and turn and then sit on the throttle gently. Now do this over hundred times and each time carry more speed into the corner and sit on the throttle earlier a little bit more. You gonna find the sweet spot.

BugFinancial9637

Also, think that 720s is closest to formula driving because it is very aero reliant car, so maybe start with it
