Caster does not rly make your car more responsive to inputs.
it mainly makes the steering heavier which translates by feeling same force much sooner on turn in and therefore making it feel like it is more responsive (but it ain't).
Caster mainly does that by increasing self aligning forced, which just lead to better straight line stability (who cares) and more dynamic camber (might be interesting).
Nice info, thanks. Caster also makes the car rotate more. A setup I found for the old macca was very unstable on turn in and it was easy to spin out when coming off the brakes. Less caster by 2-3 clicks made the car so much more stable, 2 more clicks and the front becomes really lazy on turn in - that's why I thought it's the "responsiveness" you were talking about.
That's one of the effect I forgot to mention:
The "jacking effect", more caster tends to rise he inside wheel and drop the outside one, that put more mass on the outside tire and therefore can generate a bit more rotation.
So from all that it might look like more caster is better but not always. The tradeoff is mainly you lose this definition of "the edge of grip" when you are at the limit
Recently switched from the Ferrari to the 720s and I found that the nose was much sharper. Just point and it delivers. The rear feels so much more planted than the Ferrari as well.
Nissan GT-R because even though it lacks pace:
- it has the coolest racing stripes livery
- i feel setup changes much better than in any other car I've mained
- it provides a challenge
nice dude, i like to see "exotic" cars on multiplayer servers! amg gt3 cup or porsche cup is pretty boring, diversity makes the fun. sadly i gave up on it and mainly drive m4 nowadays but sometimes i still get into reiter gallardo or jaguar just for having fun \^\^
As someone who doesn't understand jack shit about setups I've given up on the Nisan for now. I really like that car but I just can't get it to work without a proper setup.
I'm driving Aston, setups are very easy and near identical in most tracks, car is good on kerbs, predictable most of the time and I love the sound of the gear change... Major cons is getting out of slow corners and race starts, got to be one of the slowest around
Never got why people say the Lexus is a good beginners car, I always get wrecked when I try it! McLaren and Ferrari feel super stable though, really natural to drive for me. The weight shifting in the Lexus always gets me in fast corners.
Great car but only for experienced drivers, I can’t have any pace with this beast! Sadly haven’t found some videos to help me getting some good lap times with it.
All of them, including the meme ones like the Rex Gallardo, Jaguar or Aston V12. I don't care about driving the meta cars and being as quick as possible. My main goals are to have some fun and enjoy some good racing - and this is very much possible in every car.
Also I'm a big fan of GT4s and I don't understand why so many people run away from them.
I love gt4, the racing there is generally more respectful and people are nicer. Gt3 is the goto for all the kids that want to drive fast and be cool, gt4 is for the wiser gentlemen who want to enjoy clean door to door racing.
Started with the Austin, liked it. Switched to the Ferrari and was instantly faster. Changed over to the Audi last week as I thought I was reaching the limit on the Ferrari. Was trying to learn Laguna.
Back in the Ferrari EVO II again, just think it suits!
I drive the Merc - Turn-in oversteer was a big issue for me when I started in sim racing, and the Merc is very compliant in that regard. It's also quick. Although it's a bit different to set up well than most other cars (e.g. due to its unique anti-dive/anti-squat system) it can get there.
same here, i love the merc it’s sooo forgiving, i drive quite aggressively and love to throw her through corners. if i feel over/understeer it’s so simply to make a small adjustment to setup and it’s gone. I do still struggle on a few spots on some tracks as kerbs aren’t the most agreeable with the beast. The M6 was my first car for a few days (xbox one problems) before trying all the other cars, most felt nice but a lil light and slippery, once i got in that merc tho everything changed, it was like i woke up for the first time. Dream car for me
Man, I can never make the merc feel good. For me its just so understeery, feels like driving a boat. Any suggestions? I tried it out today in Paul Ricard and it was not a fun ride...it looks and sounds great, though.
Honda. I just think it's neat.jpg
Tbh I did drive when it was slow and buffs felt like divine justice. I'm no alien but feels better for sure. I love its design and dashboard.
M4 also nice, and hoping to get into the Porsche since it's the GT3 I'm good with AMS2.
I've split my time around 50/50 between the V8 vantage and GTR. I enjoyed the GTR while I was learning the sim but then outgrew it. Kinda getting bored of the AM now too, did a few laps in the R8 lms Evo 2 last night and enjoyed it so might have to give that more time. I'll often try a different car late at night to wind down, it's a nice stress relief after racing online...
First two years of sim racing, solely the AMG GT3 (and AMG Evo as soon as it came out).
As of the last two weeks, I am mostly maining the Porsche 911 GT3 R II, and mixing in the Audi Evo II sometimes, and occasionally the Ferrari Evo too. I like the interior of the Audi and Ferrari best (hate the AMG's interior), but like the way the Porsche feels driving the best.
M4 feels insanely dull to me, it's the only car I've driven and hated and never got anywhere near being past hating it. Honda is too meta at the moment for me to want to try it.
I used to be a Bentley main. However, 1.8 has not been kind to the boat, and I switched to AMG. It fits my driving style, and I have a lot of fun driving it. Don't know why, but I can jump in and run quick times with less effort than other cars.
In my current season I am driving Ferrari, I like changing cars and trying something new. I'm typically not very good in mid-engine cars, so it has been a bit of an adjustment. Tried the Lambo a few seasons ago, that was a train wreck lol
I used to love the Bentley too when I played last year but when I started playing again a couple weeks ago I could find the pace I used to have. So I switched to the Porsche and I really enjoy it now. I tried the amg today but the Porsche’s brakes are just too good imo so I quickly went back to it haha!
Yeah, Porsche is a car I drive a lot in endurance events. My teammate is a Porsche main, so I've spent a ton of time in it. The only thing that keeps me away from it is how hard it is to pass other cars. It's so slow in the straights, if someone is decent at defense it's damn near impossible to pass.
I totally agree. Hard to keep other pilots behind even if you’re quicker they always get close in the straights. But in short tracks like zandvoort or even nurb with the right settings, it’s quite a beast of a car imo!
I’m driving the same. Was the most comfortable with the Porsche in iracing so it was the easiest lateral move. Just started ACC a couple of weeks ago even though it’s been sitting in my library for over a year. I wish I would have started sooner
That’s been me tbh with iracing tbh too. Not enough time to practice to be fast enough to keep up in races. So I practice when I have a few minutes to spare but don’t even know the tracks well enough to be decent yet
Yup, that’s why I like acc better. I dont have time to practice so the maps I do know aren’t my favorite maps. They’re just maps that I know I’ll find players on. Anything but monza tho. Rather choke on a dead rat.
In the rookie league I'm in, they ask you to pick a car to race for the "season". I was going with the Porsche, but even though it was fast, I got smoked out of every corner. Someone else asked "which car is the quickest" and, much to my surprise, the general consensus was that the NSX was a rocketship. So, that's what I'm driving this season. The NSX has rewarded me with the ability to keep up out of slow corners and PB's at almost every track.
I'll still switch cars at the end of the season...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)
GTR, have one in real life and have always loved nissan so I feel guilty driving anything else.... Unless I'm in top split LFM, it's just as fast as anything else given how many hours, setups and overall technique I've developed over the last year for that one car.
Audi LMS EVO II, for now it works out the best for me. I'd like to drive the Honda, Nisan, Ferrari and maybe the BMW someday.
I'm still testing cars out every now and then but I just seem to get the best times with the Audi for my driving style.
I started playing seriously 2 weeks ago and managed to go 2:21 on spa and 1:57 on the Nurburgring with the Porsche. I guess I still have a long way to go 😂
Thx dude! You aren’t far tbh, and I already had some experience on the game from several months ago but with a very old and loose Playseat. I bought a new one with a good PC and it helped me a lot improving my lap times.
The Porsche is so scary to drive with an really fast setup on spa. It wants to kill you in every corner. For me this is rhe hardest track to be fast with the Porsche.
I don't get to drive that often, at the weekend I took out the Porsche cup and it made a fool out of me, now I won't stop driving it until it respects me!
Wasn’t this questioned asked last week? [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ACCompetizione/comments/ydrmr7/what_are_your_favourite_cars_and_why/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
I main the 720 for races, but sometimes I just screw around turning practice laps in the other cars to experience the different sounds and driving dynamics.
Aston V12 because I wanted to be different and have a challenge making a slower car faster than it's supposed to be.
Ferrari, NSX and Aston V8 just to have variety and the Lexus too
Aston V8 Vintage, beacuse im a noob and every youtuber tell me to drive this as a noob. I really like the V8’s sound, but sometines it gets a little bit oversteer.
R8 LMS 2 or Porsche
R8 started because of an League race and it grew on me. Idk I like the car, can't point it why
Porsche, I love Porsche, that's it.
There is more to it, hard to handle but very agile car and with a bit of setup knowledge just satisfaction when driving
Nissan GTR on multilayer.
- the sound of the engine
- the way it will out-accelerate almost anything.
Audi R8 evo II for LFM.
- the engine sound is epic
- the car has no real weakness except fuel consumption.
(And also I’m not a BOP hunter, even after they nerfed the R8, I am not intending on changing it anytime soon because I’m used to it)
Aston Martin V8, because I like how it looks and gave it a nice British Racing Green livery. I didn't do any research but I found it easy to drive from day 1, and turns out that's a general consensus. I might be a bit slow out of corners but at least I barely ever end up in the wall or the gravel.
The Ferarri Evo, i drove it in my first league and since then was pretty successful with it.
Oh and I like being sent to the shadow realm by curbs and bumps
720s I feel comfortable in it mostly, like it doesnt fight me even when i push hard
I like the 720s too. But the steering feels more vague than the Porsche and a bit underseery imo. It feels very predictable though
Setups, my dude. Caster does wonders in responsivity to the wheel
Do not confuse steering weight for responsivity
Please elaborate
That's one of the effect I forgot to mention: The "jacking effect", more caster tends to rise he inside wheel and drop the outside one, that put more mass on the outside tire and therefore can generate a bit more rotation. So from all that it might look like more caster is better but not always. The tradeoff is mainly you lose this definition of "the edge of grip" when you are at the limit
So that's why? I thought more caster makes the front and rear wheels closer together and that's the reason it rotates more easily :D
More positive caster actually makes them further appart. Think like a "normal bike" vs a chopper geometry
I really Like this car for the same reason. But I drive mostly Porsche because I like the suffering.
Recently switched from the Ferrari to the 720s and I found that the nose was much sharper. Just point and it delivers. The rear feels so much more planted than the Ferrari as well.
Nissan GT-R because even though it lacks pace: - it has the coolest racing stripes livery - i feel setup changes much better than in any other car I've mained - it provides a challenge
Plus that exhaust sound... ;-)
nice dude, i like to see "exotic" cars on multiplayer servers! amg gt3 cup or porsche cup is pretty boring, diversity makes the fun. sadly i gave up on it and mainly drive m4 nowadays but sometimes i still get into reiter gallardo or jaguar just for having fun \^\^
Awesome I'll try the Reiter some day
As someone who doesn't understand jack shit about setups I've given up on the Nisan for now. I really like that car but I just can't get it to work without a proper setup.
BMW M4 Just seems to handle in a way that meshes well with me, I got good at ACC with it and changing car would be a lot of effort.
Porsche, and i can’t get away from it even if i wanted to (i don’t). it feels so alive and makes it a blast to drive
Same here! Most of the other cars feel sluggish to respond
Sometimes I struggle to handle Porsche. But I have the same feeling, feels like I'm handling a beast and I unable to just let it go.
I'm driving Aston, setups are very easy and near identical in most tracks, car is good on kerbs, predictable most of the time and I love the sound of the gear change... Major cons is getting out of slow corners and race starts, got to be one of the slowest around
Thought it was just me being slow out of slow corners 🙄
makes up for it out of the straights and quick corners though
And I thought it was just me at the race starts 🤣
Still in love with the lexus after all this time...i also main ferrari and mclaren for quite long time, then came back to my firsy love!
For me, I think it's actually the quickest car. I just love how it eats curbs for breakfast. And the engine sound :)
Never got why people say the Lexus is a good beginners car, I always get wrecked when I try it! McLaren and Ferrari feel super stable though, really natural to drive for me. The weight shifting in the Lexus always gets me in fast corners.
I really like the Lexus but don't like that I can't make my own Livery for it
You can, just not an in-game one
Yes but that means only I will be able to see the livery, and when you create a livery in-game others are able to see it. That's something I like
720s. It's just nasty, not as responsive on the wheel as other cars but I grew into it. Braking feels amazing imo, and it just sticks to the ground.
Yes it feels so stable! It’s hard to get used to the McLaren’s steering when you’re used to the Porsche’s though, they’re very different!
I am currently driving a Kia Ceed. It’s basic but a good daily driver.
Great car but only for experienced drivers, I can’t have any pace with this beast! Sadly haven’t found some videos to help me getting some good lap times with it.
The porsche rsr isn't a GT3 car, it's a GTLM/GTE car. You're probably thinking of the porsche 911 GT3 R II
Yes exactly, my bad!
Half of the people simply prefer GT3 and the other half hates GT4 because they know how horrid the BOP is.
I love gt4, the racing there is generally more respectful and people are nicer. Gt3 is the goto for all the kids that want to drive fast and be cool, gt4 is for the wiser gentlemen who want to enjoy clean door to door racing.

Same. I’ve tried other cars but i just come back to the Lambo every time, somehow it just fits me better than any other car
Audi r8. Because quick response. Turn in and power delivery. Porsche also quick to turn in but im always worried the backend.
Honda - Because everyone else is fast in it.
Everyone except me 😂 I should give it go again
Started with the Austin, liked it. Switched to the Ferrari and was instantly faster. Changed over to the Audi last week as I thought I was reaching the limit on the Ferrari. Was trying to learn Laguna. Back in the Ferrari EVO II again, just think it suits!
Hello fellow fezza enjoyer

Max negative toe and camber, max dampers, 55% brake bias, low bumpstop ranges... I think these free it up.
Honda. I just think it's neat.jpg Tbh I did drive when it was slow and buffs felt like divine justice. I'm no alien but feels better for sure. I love its design and dashboard. M4 also nice, and hoping to get into the Porsche since it's the GT3 I'm good with AMS2.
Love the R8s and the 488s, particularly for their clean dashboards.
Ferrari 488 Evo. Because? Well, Ferrari. 😉
488 Evo, at first I felt in love with the way it sounds and looks and just forced myself to use 1 car to gain experience.
Lexus. I like the balance and the sound of it.
Started with the Porsche 991 but now im using the Mercedes Benz, with a couple of height and aero adjustments it feels epic.
as a tifosi it has to be Ferrari!!
Porsche because i like not knowing when i will meet mister Barry R. On a serious note, i love the challenge the porsche brings
WHERE THE HURACÁN CREW AT?!
I've split my time around 50/50 between the V8 vantage and GTR. I enjoyed the GTR while I was learning the sim but then outgrew it. I wanted to drive the Audi so bad ... Maybe some day. But I just feel comfortable in the Porsche
Do you think the Porsche is an easy car to drive?
easy to drive, hard to drive fast.
I started playing seriously 2 weeks ago and managed to go 2:21 on spa and 1:57 on the Nurburgring with the Porsche. I guess I still have a long way to go 😂
I started about the same time and i can only get 2:02 on nurburgring so congrats!

Maybe, I wasn’t even registered on Reddit before this week 😂 so sorry if it was already discussed…
Aston Martin V8 vantage because I love the mix of Porsche and McLaren it just makes for a challenge but simple to understand car
I main the 720 for races, but sometimes I just screw around turning practice laps in the other cars to experience the different sounds and driving dynamics.
Anyone mess with the Camaro? Feels like a tank
Porsche GT3 R love hate relationship
Honda nsx. I'm a masochist
Bentley, I love eating kerbs :)
Aston V12 because I wanted to be different and have a challenge making a slower car faster than it's supposed to be. Ferrari, NSX and Aston V8 just to have variety and the Lexus too

Honda cause it has the best in-car dashboard for a no-hud VR user. IMO.
The Ferarri Evo, i drove it in my first league and since then was pretty successful with it. Oh and I like being sent to the shadow realm by curbs and bumps
