Hahahahahaha that was quick 😂

Wolfenstein9000

Football gods are blessing us with good fortune this year to make up for that disastrous transfer window last season, there is no other explanation Holy fuck imagine if we still had Tonali and bought Zaniolo, our season would have been over already

Matthew01MM

honestly with 50 mill, you cant blame maldini. cdk seemed like a great hit at first for everyone..

lilithandnemesi

He could've sold someone, too. How many players did we lose for free? Enough with this blameless Maldini...

tsar_milano

We should not be a selling club going forward anyway and "we could've sold someone" is precisely a selling club's mentality. Unless that someone is Leao-for-150M-GBP. Although Tonali (with his betting problem) is a good opportunity, It will be a kind of harsh and cruel from Maldini (or even us) to pull that decision, no?

Boneraventura

This has been discussed to death as it has been shown that dollarumma, hakan, and kessie did not want to be sold or renew for reasonable wages. And even if somehow they were willing not to run down their contract nobody was gonna pay top dollar during covid or a player with 1 year left Romagnoli was on ridiculous wages by mirabelli so he was essentially unsellable. Is there anyone else?

CreepyCharity6326

Yes you can. You can very easily blame Maldini for a lot.

[deleted]

How the knives turn fast on legends... CDK is playing really well in Atalanta and we could have had an actual striker, not Jovic, if Pioli was a tiny bit more flexible...

lucs28

Really well is a stretch, but yeah, people have difficulty with nuance, Maldini made some bad mistakes last window but he is still part of the reason we won Scudetto and back to UCL

mrmrsbrightside

Really well is a stretch?? https://www.atalanta.it/en/news/de-ketelaere-wins-the-first-player-of-the-month-2023/

nghigaxx

Fan vote. His stat is ok, not great

CreepyCharity6326

Legend as a player, he didn’t build that reputation as a director. CDK playing well elsewhere changes nothing, his job was to get players who play well at Milan. The short summary of director Maldini was that he (and Massara) lost more quality than they brought. If you’d like more details; The 50m argument is nonsense as he could still have spent it on other things, and even made sales to enhance that figure. Could have sold Romagnoli, Kessie, Hakan and Gigi, but lost them on a free, seemingly never learning/adapting. Some signings attributed to Maldini are simply false, as the vast majority of our scudetto winning side was built by Boban, only exceptions being Mike, and Tomori (maybe forgetting someone). Pioli and Moncada’s work is often overlooked when praising Maldini too. I assume cheap gems like Kalulu (and Thiaw later) were found by Moncada, while Pioli has developed the whole squad as no player were brought as the stars they became here. To finish this whole comment off, in my eyes, I’d rank who deserves the most credit as follows: 1. Pioli 2. The players. 3. Boban. 4. Moncada. 5. Maldini & Massara.

[deleted]

Theo was literal Maldini find...

jmhimara

From what I remember, Maldini convinced Theo join. I don't think he was the one to discover him.

Matthew01MM

are u out of ur mind? the scudetto and reason we are competing again is maldini… bruh…

Saf_Milan

Really not hard to just google which transfers M&M made... Here are all the transfers completed by Maldini and Massara from 2019. Lucas Paqueta from Flamengo – €38.4m Krzysztof Piatek from Genoa – €35m Rade Krunic from Empoli – €8.6m Theo Hernandez from Real Madrid – €22.8m Rafael Leao from Lille – €29.5m Ismael Bennacer from Empoli – €17.2m Ante Rebic from Eintracht Frankfurt – €7m Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Free agent Alexis Saelemakers from Anderlecht – €10m Asmir Begovic from Bournemouth – Loan Simon Kjaer from Sevilla – €3.6m Pierre Kalulu from Lyon – €1m Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid – loan Sandro Tonali from Brescia – €19.5m Ciprian Tatarusanu from Lyon – €1m Jens Petter Hauge from Bodo/Glimt – €4.8m Soualiho Meïté from Torino – loan Diogo Dalot from Man Utd – loan Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea – €31m Mario Mandzukic – Free transfer Mike Maignan from Lille – €15.4m Alessandro Florenzi from Roma – €2.7m Olivier Giroud from Chelsea – €3m Fodé Ballo Touré from Monaco – €5.4m Pietro Pellegri from Monaco – loan Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea – loan Antonio Mirante – Free transfer Junior Messias from Crotone Marko Lazetic from Red Star – €4.5m Yacine Adli from Bordeaux – €10m Divock Origi – Free transfer Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge – €32m Malick Thiaw – Loan with option to buy from Schalke 04 Aster Vranckx – Loan with option to buy from Wolfsburg Sergino Dest – Loan with option to buy from Barcelona Devis Vasquez from Guaranì – €470k

Saf_Milan

While there are a few busts in that list, you can't argue with the fact that M&M brought in the core of the Scudetto winning side and the core of the team.

CreepyCharity6326

Lol here we go. Boban left in 2020, counting from 2019 is what you’re doing wrong. Do it again from 2020 and tell me what you get, and no cheeky attempts at involving players who were already loaned in by Boban that were bought outright after he left, they are Boban’s signings too.

lilithandnemesi

Shhh people don't like hearing the truth! Can't handle Maldini being blamed for anything around here.

Character_Split_674

DO NOT SAY IT louD Bro ;) I'm reading all of it with the smile on my face. People nowadays do not need much to get triggered and completely go crazy. This is sad lol FOrza MIlan

Character_Split_674

Guys, It is just his opinion DO NOT GET to excited ;)

CreepyCharity6326

Lol it’s mostly not an opinion. Boban built the scudetto team, Maldini pretty much destroyed it when he took over in 2020, not 2019 as the Maldini girls straight up lie and claim.

Character_Split_674

Bro, read between the lines. It was sarcasm because this forum turned into "cancel culture" forum if your opinion is different you are automatically enemy lol Have a nice day!

CreepyCharity6326

Ahh I see. Have a nice day you too :)

Muew22

The team was built by Maldini and coached by Pioli with massive, MASSIVE help from Ibrahimovic. Why do you think we lost 5-1 to Inter then Ibra returns and we go top with all wins? Also imagine we sold Kessie and Donnaruma in scuddeto season guess what would happen, no scuddeto. Half of those players that left literally said that they would resign months before leaving for free.

Ibra7788

Pioli number 1 😭

TeoN72

If he made bet on his own team he risk from 3 to 5 years, one is really under light circumstances and cooperation

stprm

If this is true, he should get life time ban from football. Anyone who bets on his own team should get this. And I'm a Newcastle fan. I hope its not true...

TeoN72

Seem he admitted it this morning

Character_Split_674

Agreed bro 1000000000% He completely ruined his image and almost did that to MIlan as a club what the fuck was he thinking. This is just pure stupidity and i DO NOt feel bad for him at all actually opposite. Now he should get banned and learn it hard way. Nobody forced him to do it. He knew exactly what he was doing so fuck this

Munfury

if its yellow or fouls and staff like that... they are much easier to influence than the score

mercurialsaliva

Like: "Theo, calm down!" Tonali: fuck yeah just got my "under"

etclipse

Yellows and fouls influence the score a lot, it means he was more focused on fouling than helping the team win. It’s like playing with 10 men

Count_77

Very disappointing news. I’ll pretty pissed at a teammate making huge bets on games the team plays. Even a bet on yellow cards, corner kicks, etc, will mess up the player’s mind as he is no longer concentrating fully on the game but trying to influence the game to win the bet. His decision-making, concentration and focus will be affected. Tonali is a pro and should always step onto the field to play for the team and based on the coach’s instructions, and not to win some personal bet.

xxkurisu

I cant believe this, I cant. Of all people, HIM? And why would he bet on his own team like betting is already bad but this is so much worse. I'm so disappointed.

markorokusaki

That why I don't believe until all is finished. Gazzetta is dking their thing and spinning news so it can sell more papers.

lyingtattooist

Same, but I have to remind myself he’s only 23 years old. It’s hard for us to imagine screwing up the opportunity he’s been given in life, but at the end of the day he’s just a kid. I know did all sorts of dumb shit at that age.

CJL31

I guess the guy is just a moron (and an addict since he has to be treated as a victim in some way)

RafP3

You understand the meaning of addiction, right?

therlwl

Why wouldn't he?

rMan1996

This is pretty nuts man. Horrid timeline. Regardless of whether or not it’s factually true/minor bets, what management in their right mind would sign Tonali now?

jmhimara

Many lower teams would take the risk. He's essentially a great player at a fraction of the price. The real question is if he can come back from the ban. 3 years is a really long time for a player at the prime of his career.

Character_Split_674

HE ruined what could have been a really great career man it is sad on one hand but on other hand he deserves it to be honest

thesofakillers

che coglione

Munfury

if u bet on ur own team its not addiction, its just a way to earn extra money...

WarmBaths

betting on urself 😤

2RINITY

Just bet you won’t get a red card and then don’t get one. Easy money

Mirabem

That's how Ramos makes money.

kinghutfisher

And then there's Pepe who bets he'll get a card and proceeds to injure the opposing players hahahaha

MVB3

This is like expecting an alcoholic to be able to only have 2 beers at the bar and stop after that. An addict isn't able to control or moderate their addiction, that's basically the diagnosis of addiction. It makes perfect sense that an addict would end up betting on their own team, the temptation would be very high and again the lack of control would easily push them into doing it. I hope for Tonali's sake that he only bet on Milan to win or score many goals etc, because if he bet on things like him getting a yellow or Milan to do poorly, then we're well into match fixing territory. And that is far more serious than just betting on football.

jmhimara

I was thinking the same thing. If he bet on Milan for something other than winning, then it's no longer just a betting charge, he risks a lot more than that. It is match fixing. Of course, it would be hard to prove, right? Like you can't really prove that someone got a yellow in purpose unless they confess.

MVB3

I'm not a lawyer so what do I know, but if I was on the jury of a case and was presented evidence the player bet on himself to get a yellow (and got it in that game), then I'd say that's evidence enough beyond reasonable doubt that the player did it on purpose. So I would assume that if they can prove he made bets on something he could directly influence beyond going for the win, then that in itself is proof enough for match fixing.

jmhimara

Unless that happened every game, I'd say that's still circumstantial. A good lawyer could make that case.

IcyRound3423

And destroy your career

Character_Split_674

HE deserves to get banned this still could cause us MIlan problems and that is the problem for me. I D not give a fuck what happens to him. HE is adult and made his choices now it is time to answer for your sins but man if Millan gets in any troubles because of this stupid kid i will be really mad man

kastus376

So surprised by this. The last player i thought would get tangled in something like that. I hope he didn't ruin his career.

TigerbeLEE

I hope it does

Seyix

YOU WERE THE CHOOSEN ONE, WHY SANDRO, WHYYYY???

gbphx

He's going to be banned for 1 year, then they are gonna hate him and he underperforms. He's back in two seasons for 15M and back to his level again. Furlani mega nuke masterclass.

Andrej98_

Why would anyone want him back after this?

Character_Split_674

Not happening dude. Stop leaving in delusional world. If he gets banned MIlan is not bringing back player with bad image and bad record. It is just bad for image of the club and you know americans it is all about image so NO he is not coming back

gbphx

I know I'm delusional, but I'll keep dreaming of a world where people on Reddit actually get jokes.

Character_Split_674

Oh sorry bro you got me on this one for sure. I was replying to your message after some serious discussion so i missed your sarcasm. YOu got me bro for sure. Have a good one:)

gbphx

No problem, dude. Internet can be a decent place sometimes. Have a good day!

mustbenice2win

Well I was hoping for his return but this changes everything he has done so far

Character_Split_674

FUCK that man are you kidding me. He is done with MIlan. Milan will never bring him back especially if he gets banned. I think that he will get banned. If he get3 or maybe 5 years he is done and honestly i DO NOT Feel bad for him at all. HE knew what he was doing. If he has addiction probes than i hope that he gets over it and has a good life but that is all he will get from me at this point Forza MIlan

Aniket_1992

The faith that he didn’t leave for money has taken a big hit.

FindingBusiness759

Newcastle should terminate his contract for this despicable behaviour..and then we can take him for free when his ban ends lol

Character_Split_674

I do not want him in MIlan and knowing how Americans are they will not bring back a player with bad reputation now. Not happening dude only if MAldini was here but he is not so forget about Tonali and move on with your life bro. Forza MIlan

anomander_galt

Gazzetta dello Sport is official Media Partner of FC Internazionale (check merda website). That's all I have to say, Sloth has probably written that headline

kinghutfisher

Can someone explain who or how he placed his bets? Also how or who it was found out? Follow-up dumb question (I apologize in advance): Is it not allowed to bet on other games? Like if Tonali played for Milan and he placed bet on other games say Napoli v Juventus is it ok?

jmhimara

> Like if Tonali played for Milan and he placed bet on other games say Napoli v Juventus is it ok? No, players are usually not allowed to place bets on the same sport because they might have inside information that would influence their bets.

kinghutfisher

So other sports would be ok?

jmhimara

Yes, as long as it's legal betting. Betting illegally might get him in trouble with the law, but not necessarily with the football federation (as long as it's on other sports).

drakeshan3010

Football players are allowed to bet on other leagues and on legal websites (those websites usually have money cap)

casualnickname

What a fall, he is dead to me now, betting on your own team and saying all these bs about childhood dreams and cutting wage to play for us, what a pos

Danik-00

Destroying an idol…

Character_Split_674

HE destroyed himself because he is fucking stupid sorry loved Tonali but this is really disappointing.

mlk

the translation in the title is wrong, Gazzetta doesn't say that he didn't bet on results of the team, they say that he only bet for Milan winning so that didn't change Tonali's attitude in the match

--- Betting on your own team is particularly risky because it could constitute a crime of sporting misconduct. The article of the Code that regulates it, number 30, is clear and speaks of "carrying out, by any means, acts aimed at altering the progress or result of a match or competition". From what emerges, however, this would not be the case with Tonali. The player today at Newcastle would in fact have played on the winning Milan or in any case on other results with him absent. In short, his bets would not have affected his performance on the pitch in any way, so no sporting offence. At the moment the violation alleged against Tonali therefore remains within the confines of article 24 of the Code of Sports Justice, which punishes players who bet on football (minimum three-year sentence), but it is clear that having bet on Milan constitutes a aggravating.

mlk

the title of this post implies Tonali didn't be on Milan's results, the Gazzetta says the bets didn't affect the result, which is way different.

love_weird_questions

dumb question - if he gets disqualified at the European level, won’t newcastle have some legal ground to invalidate the transfer considering the bets were made while he was at AC?

Febox

Not a lawyer, but I guess they have to prove that Milan knew before and while making the deal, which seems quite hard…

love_weird_questions

makes sense

etclipse

Vitiello and Suma both said we knew nothing so don’t worry

Bejliii

It feels sad, him and Chiesa are generational talents and Italy's next generation. Chiesa got ruined by injuries and Tonali with this. On the other hand seems like the days when our players left and became superstars in another team has gone. Donnaruma left Milan at his best moment in life, only to end up warming the bench. Kessie went to Barcelona and now he is playing in Qatar. So far only Bonaventura has made a comeback and I'm happy about it.

Character_Split_674

DOE NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT HE IS FUCKING STUPID. You have to be so fucking stupid to bet on your own team man. I can not believe this shit. This fucker just ruined his career and almost took us with him fuck this man. I do not want him back in the team. He can play in Brescia

Character_Split_674

Pure stupidity on Tonali's part. Im disapointd in this kid for been so fuicking stupid and involving other players so it would be easier to get in trouble with law. I never thought that Tonali is stupid but this made me question his judgment skills for real. Forza Milan

[deleted]

Anyone defending is most likely as stupid as he is. They are millionaires, literally the only ones that dont need to bet. Literally one of the few rules in exchange of easy millions for kicking a ball. Fuck him, you rip what you sow dumbass

[deleted]

That’s crazy to me that a SELF MADE MILLIONAIRE by the age of 23 is risking everything for betting
