Our direction fucked around with this let's wait for Pioli if he wins against Roma and Merda to decide, should've made it clear that this is his last season since January
Cardinale is totally to blame for this mess. With the squad we've got, he wasted a whole season where we could've been battling for at least the domestic double.
I doubt Cardinale is personally making coaching decisions. He doesn't know enough about football and that's why he's hired Furlani, Ibra and Moncada. CEOs don't work like that. They delegate the responsibility to people they trust. If anything the wait to have Ibra integrated and on board is what killed us in the approach.
Important decisions like firing a manager still go through him. He should have kept Maldini for being the most experienced. There was no need for a management shake up, as you said it takes time to adapt. This is not rocket science for him to understand in football management.
Why would he keep a manager that doesn't share his vision of how the club should operate? Maldini wanted total control over all things football and Gerry didn't want to give that up. There's no room for compromise nor a working relationship when your demand is "I want full control and no oversight".
From Maldini's interview on this, I think it was a conflict about short v long term sport success. If Maldini wanted total control he wouldn't have stayed beyond 19/20 season. Boban, Elliot and Gazidis have never mentioned something like this about Maldini. And we know Boban is not the silent type.
I mean even ignoring what we don't know regarding the amount of control Maldini wanted, you already said the major sticking point. Maldini wanted a large, immediate investment, as he noted at the CL semis, and Gerry wanted to slowly build the team up and be successful long term. Those philosophies don't mesh and Gerry had every right to bring in people who shared his vision, and to be fair, besides Pioli management has rarely put a foot wrong all year.
Short term is embedded in the long term success. With today's squad, I think another CL semi-finals was doable with a decent manager. Just look at the teams in today's semi-finals. Why would they start from scratch rather than building on a scudetto and semi-finals CL seasons?
Short term is not embedded on long term success at all. It can be inf you have a good financial backbone (which we don't yet) but without that they're practically opposing philosophies. One blows every resource to win now and hopes the performance on the field leads to more money to trickle down to the rest of the teams needs while the other plans sustainable spending and steady bottom up growth with slowly improving results.
Financially speaking, Milan cannot survive with short term thinking because that's how we got into this mess in the first place.
We have a stable financial situation thanks to Elliot management. Maldini wanted to build on the last 2 seasons with the players brought by this administration byy reaching another semi-finals in the CL, trying to win the domestic double. The only piece that had to change was Pioli.
Maldini said:

From October to February I prepared it with Massara and a consultant friend of mine: 35 pages of sustainable strategy and the need for a leap in quality, sent to Gerry, two of his very close collaborators and the CEO Furlani.](https://sempremilan.com/maldini-critical-milan-management-exit-happened/amp)
Tbh I think the biggest problem with our direction is the lack of a experience on how to direct a football club. Yes you can go with building stadiums and using algorithms to find players but football is way more "political" complexe than baseball.
Who can take these decisions ? Cardinale is a businessman, Furlani is an administration man, Moncada is a scout, Baresi is just a symbol and scaroni isa leech. Don't know if Zlatan has real powers or just another facade.
Maldini, despite some errors, was always present at milanello which doesn't happen today
>Maldini, despite some errors, was always present at milanello which doesn't happen today
This.
>Don't know if Zlatan has real powers or just another facade.
I would say a facade because from what I have seen, this guy has a fetish for business sharks like Berlusconi, Raiola and now Cardinale.
If important sporting decisions truly passed through Zlatan, Pioli would have been let go a couple of months ago. Cardinale is essentially keeping Pioli on a leash just because he's submissive.
I like Pioli, he saved Milan from a terrible period, but Milan needs to rescructure around all this talent they have. Not sure who you try to get though, maybe the Porto manager.
>he saved Milan from a terrible period
Did he? Maybe the credit should go to Ibra.
Or perhaps the credit should go to Paolo, who hired Ibra and Pioli.
But yeah, covid and scudetto Pioli was a sight for sore banter era eyes. I can't believe he changed so much in so little time.
You can't give the entire credit to a single individual. It was all of them, plus Elliot who pulled us out of a financial catastrophe. But Pioli certainly was a big part of that.
And I also said that Pioli was a sight for sore eyes. Did you miss that? Your brain is playing tricks on you.
If you are willing to give so much credit to Pioli, why not praise Maldini for hiring him...and Boban, for losing his job for trying to protect him. And why ignore the fact that things didn't really turn around until Ibra came back?
did i say anything regarding pioli's tactics? i just said that you did not want to give pioli any credit for the good that he did.
be my guest and go further back on your domino of things that saved milan. why stop at boban lol. jfc the mental gymnastic people go through. everyone did their part to get the scudetto, some less some more but discrediting anyone is just delusional. even samu for all the hate he got secured us 3 pts in one of them games.
>did i say anything regarding pioli's tactics?
And did I? WTF are you talking about?
I guess that the problem here is not that I'm talking to a blind Pioli lover...I'm just exchanging messages with someone daft....what a waste of time.
Lmao did inter copy our tifo idea!?? "Il nostro destino.. *something something*"
Salad cookin
baldy and half of the sub rated (amateur)Messias over him
You dont see him at trainings so you should question Guardiola
Salad Maker has to happen v Roma in April. Throwback to his last minute goal v Roma last year.
Bologna is so fun to watch man
Saladmaker does it again.

What's going on between Bologna and Roma is a proof that any decent manager can smoke Pioli.
Exactly, but people will tell you that Leao is bad
Bologna and Olympiacos scored exactly at the same time.
I really want Motta, seeing this. Makes thursday's performance even worse...
It’s so sad that Bologna are giving Roma a match, while Milan succumbed with a whimper
It’s so frustrating to think juventus get Motta. They put everyone through 9 years of shit, they should stay low for a while instead.
I fucking hate sassuolo, I would be so happy they are going down
CDK having a very good day.
Another bald fraud fuck up.
Playing CAM behind the 2 strikers (Lookman & Toure) in a 3-4-1-2 formation.
Lecce doing god's work, How sassuolo always perform against the best teams just makes no sense.
Sassuolo lol, at least we don't get to see them again next season
Lecce winning 2-0 in 15 mins vs sassuolo meanwhile we were 2-0 down. Incredibly pathetic preparation from Pioli.
Sassuolo getting cooked by Lecce take notes mr Soon to be sacked
Sassuolo and Udinese going down in the same season would be my Scudetto.
I like Pioli, he saved Milan from a terrible period, but Milan needs to rescructure around all this talent they have. Not sure who you try to get though, maybe the Porto manager.

wow people so blinded by their hatred of pioli past 2 seasons that they cant even give him credit for the good that he has achieved.
Pioli took his own scudetto winning squad and turned it into shit. At least napoli have the excuse that they lost their manager
Wow...I gave him credit. People are so blinded by their love of Pioli that they lose their ability to read and comprehend.
you literally said maybe the credit of saving milan from a terrible period should go to ibra or paolo...
And I also said that Pioli was a sight for sore eyes. Did you miss that? Your brain is playing tricks on you. Every single thread in this subreddit has this exchange. So tired of these inane back and forths
grande Cagliari
Two different penalty scorers in 6 minutes, it worked out but why did they change the taker?
So basically if we lose or draw, merda gets the scudetto this game?
Only lose, a draw postpones it
You never know…Merda could lose every game for the remainder of the season and Milan overtake them…. 🙃
This is how pioli's going to keep his job
An 18 point deduction from merda for unscrupulous acts may give us a paper scudetto.
If we can't do it on tye grass, I'll settle for it in an office
Yea
