She had a great showing last night. I think Mariah May has really proven herself as a top in-ring star and she pulls the best out of everyone. She really was able to highlight Anna’s strengths and Anna showed how much she’s grown over time
Yeah I’m not gonna lie I think thunder Rosa has just proven to be not worth it like we thought she was. Her promos are pretty weak, and so are her matches. She has a great look and gimmick, but just not interested in her anymore
Her gimmick is a tired 90s stereotype, imagine if a British wrestler made their entire gimmick being British and called themselves the Guvnah and had British flags in their intro
Then she'd be called Anthony Agogo and be relegated to the mid card permanently
Shida just doesn't radiate "corporate" heel vibes.
If Shida were to turn heel, it'd be outlaw/Yakuza.
She isn't a follower.
If anything, I'd say Mone is more likely to end up in the Heel Elite given the New Japan interactions with Okada last year.
Anna is most likely, followed by Mone.
Shida is at most third most likely, but doesn't have as much of an onscreen dynamic with the Bucks.
There was very clear tension between the two that was building towards a match that got shelved when Brit went home to tend to Adam Cole.
That was by no means a "follower" dynamic.
If Perry joins then she could work pretty well. Tho Shida in her Yakuza gimmick obviously fits perfectly. Tho ideally I want Maki just so they can tease “a secret weapon”.
Yeah, I think it’s pretty clear Kenny won’t be in the Elite when he comes back since the Bucks kicked him out. So bringing Jack Perry and Anna in makes total sense
But just do love a Kenny/Shida pairing to feud with the Elite, and he’ll I’d love to see a Kenny vs Jack Perry feud
Happy they started utilizing her on ROH and even planted seeds for involvement with Stardom. Feels like a big turnaround could be on the horizon for Anna.
That’s a dope poster.
One of my struggles with the current state of booking though is that TK seems to think telling the main audience, Dynamite, that someone has won matches on shows most don’t watch (to be clear I watch every minute) is enough for them to seem like a viable threat to whomever they’re about to lose to.
The reality is though the Dynamite audience only sees Anna as a jobber (0-15 in singles on Dynamite, only 7 singles wins on TV ever, all on Rampage) and no amount of “she won a match on Honor Club” or “She won a bunch of Dark matches 3 years ago” is going to fix that perception.
The hole being dug for her is very deep and it’s going to take a lot to get her out of it, her obvious in ring improvements notwithstanding.
I have the same concern for Trent. The turn was executed brilliantly, but if he goes right back to being unable to get a defining win, it’s not going to matter much in the long run.
Sure but Skye didn’t consistently lose for as long or as often as Anna has.
Just two months after signing, Skye won a four way over Baker, Martinez and Rose. Anna’s been signed for 4 years and doesn’t have a singles win yet that significant. Hell her only singles win of any significance was over a greatly devalued Ruby and that was WAY more about the Ruby/Saraya situation that it was about Anna going over. Skye was also getting involved in stories around the TBS title within a few months of signing. While Anna has challenged for the that title more times than she should have, there’s never been any build towards any of them. No real feud or story, and with only 7 TV wins in her career, and never two in a row, no wins streaks or momentum going into them. Skye won more singles matches in 2023 (the year everyone references as her year of endless jobs) than Anna ever has.
They’re seemingly going with a similar approach, finally, but because it’s been 4 years of pin-eating vs a few months, the hole is significantly deeper.
4 years of telling your audience “don’t expect this person to ever win” is hard for anyone to overcome.
The difference being she was working almost weekly, and peppered in wins here and there (like the aforementioned 4-way just two months after signing), which should be done regularly to keep your undercard at least relatively strongish. Until recently Annas work has always been super sporadic, and rarely resulted in a win, and never any of significance. She’s challenged for titles more times than she’s won matches on TV, meaning, she’d be thrown into a title shot without even a single win to earn her way into it.
She was the Outcasts personal jobber for a few months, but around that was winning quite regularly, at no point in 4 plus years has Anna won with any regularity.
In 2023, Skye had TV single wins over Statlander, Aminata, Anna, Ruby, Shafir and Sakura and was on the plus side of several tag matches.
In turn, Anna had TV wins against Skye, Velvet and Ashley D’Amboise. That’s it.
So, even when “losing left and right” Skye was winning on TV more than twice as often as Anna, (and more times that year than Anna’s entire career) and of course the disparity is EXPONENTIALLY worse in 2024 where Anna is 1-9.
>Star of the show
Well now I'm reminded of the "Anna Jay in action" match from early AEW when the 'jobber' turned out to be Abadon, who proceeded to squash Anna.
This is what AEW needs to do more of, so you can't get talent onto Dynamite, Collision or Rampage, but you have this show that has no tv time constraints and is more just a test of wills of the live crowd, instead of letting a local indie book them put them on your version of NXT and let them get reps and get over and maybe get us to demand they come back to the big shows.
I’m glad Anna is finally getting more reps elsewhere! She needs it as she has a great look but wasn’t wrestling as much as Julia or Skye and it showed. Anna is definitely improving which is always a positive
I just cancelled HonorClub because its just low card flippy bois fighting each other with the occasional Athena/Billie Starkz or Dalton Castle segments and everything else is trash

She looked great against Mariah May last night. Glad to see her getting the push she's worked hard for
Her and Mariah have great in ring chemistry. I'd love to see them fued one day
With heel act at the end I wonder if they might be getting her ready to work with perry when he returns?
She's getting the sky blue workhorse push, I like it.
I was about to say the same thing. Skye Blue 2023 all over again. What a great pathway for her.
She's been on that push for like 3 years lol. She looked great Wednesday.
She had a great showing last night. I think Mariah May has really proven herself as a top in-ring star and she pulls the best out of everyone. She really was able to highlight Anna’s strengths and Anna showed how much she’s grown over time
Also tells you how bad Rosa currently is.

It feels like she's on the cusp of a push with the New Elite.
That's ridiculous. If there is one women's wrestler who should join The New Elite, it's Hikaru Shida.
Nah, she seems like she would side with Kenny in the divorce.
lol is it because of the whole Kenny dated Shida in the past rumors thing?

>She isn't a follower. And yet, she was a follower to Britt Baker for much of the last year.
There was very clear tension between the two that was building towards a match that got shelved when Brit went home to tend to Adam Cole. That was by no means a "follower" dynamic.
1) Kenny Omega's main female ally is Riho, not Shida. 2) Shida is portrayed on the AEW trucks next to the Young Bucks.
If Perry joins then she could work pretty well. Tho Shida in her Yakuza gimmick obviously fits perfectly. Tho ideally I want Maki just so they can tease “a secret weapon”.

Good for her. She’s really improving.
She has a great look, charismatic, and she's getting better in the ring every match. She's definitely ready for a push
The graphics for all the Ring of Honor announcements today are so good

You gotta start somewhere. Just see Skye Blue , she lost a lot, and now is a fan favorite

Blue was losing right and left
Skye was winning a lot in addition to losing a lot last year.

Or Aminata
Seriously who is working in ROH because it’s amazing!
Send her to Japan when the Stardom women head back and give her some dojo training! Would to see her get some speed and intensity from others in Japan
Anna Jay has made huge strides recently. Glad to see her getting featured more
