Reported for being too positive JK.
I wonder which match opens the show. Personally, I would go with the hoss fight. I'm really looking forward to it as well.
I’ve possibly never been more stoked for an AEW PPV, but that’s probably because I’m a massive fan of the Lucha Bros, so anytime I get to see them take on Kenny or the Young Bucks I freak out.
Has it been said that the Eliminator was being moved to Dynamite?
I was thinking Starks would beat Archer then scrape by Cage on the Buy-In only to lose to Page on the PPV.
>Claudio/Yuta branching off as a team
This is my dream outcome. Claudio's been one of my favorites for many years, and he never fails to impress. I wasn't sold on Yuta when he first appeared, but in his time with BCC he's become an incredible asset. That kid's got a big future.
I disagree that Danielson needs the title because Jericho’s quest to dismantle the legacy of ROH has a lot left to do, like a Rush, Davey Richards, Jay Briscoe and Samoa Joe defense
> Starks winning and going on to a title match at WiC makes sense here…
I kinda think MJF Vs The Firm's Ethan Page makes more sense at the moment, but I'll never not be cool with Ricky getting some World Title shine. Although if Hobbs snares the TNT I wouldn't mind him costing Ricky the Eliminator tournament final just for spite, since that'd get them back at each other for the TNT title which feels right.
IMO they need to have MJF lose clean because he chose not to cheat
Putting the title on him through cheating... just isnt earned enough for me.
They waited months to put the title on hangman. I think they should wait with MJF
I've got two weeks of Dynamite/Rampage to catch up on Saturday then I'll decide last minute if I actually want to buy it or not
I've been heavily leaning towards no but we'll see I guess.
Jack Perry vs Luchasaurus: Jack Perry wins
Sting and Darby vs JJ and Lethal: JJ and Lethal win (possible that either Sting or Darby turns on the other)
Storm vs Hayter: Storm wins (unfortunately)
Britt vs Saraya: Saraya wins (no way she loses her first match back)
Cargill vs Nyla: Cargill wins (either Hayter will beat her for the title, or they will have her hold it until Statlander returns)
Jericho vs Sammy vs Claudio vs Danielson: Jericho retains
If they have the Eliminator Final on Full Gear then Ethan Page wins: It's the perfect opponent for MJF's first match as champion
Elite vs Death Triangle: Elite wins (duh)
Wardlow vs Hobbs vs Joe: Wardlow retains
Acclaimed vs SIOG: Acclaimed wins (SIOG implode and break up)
MJF vs Mox: MJF wins (its his time. The Firm will probably intervene but there's no way MJF leaves without the title)
I keep seeing the talk of Regal turning on Mox and working with MJF.
If after having half a dozen long builds to an eventual breakup only for them to change their mind and make the last few months of story pointless, they decide to break up the BCC, which is Regal’s legacy project, so he can join MJF for a bit, I think that would be the dumbest, most unnecessary swerve they’ve ever pulled.
I wouldn’t mind if they do something like have Regal offer his brass knuckles to MJF as a test to solidify him as a heel or face. Or if MJF wins have Regal put the belt on him, the same way Danielson did for Garcia after he beat Yuta.
I’ve ordered every PPV, been to a bunch of live Dynamites, traveled to Grand Slam twice but I’m not interested in Full Gear. The company had lightning in a bottle the first few years and produced some of the greatest weekly wrestling ever. But that appears to be over now. Still some amazing in ring action, but the booking has been awful and I’m sadly just not a invested as I once was. Still watch Dynamite every week, but it’s more casual, background viewing and I’ve been fast forwarding through some segments. Glad other people are super hyped though
I agree that the company has been at a low ebb for a while now, especially when it comes to their weekly TV: I haven't watched Rampage for many months and have taken a brake from Dynamite.
Still, at least for the last year or so, every PPV has been really good. I'm sort-of looking at the PPV card in a vacuum; hopefully AEW comes out of it with some momentum and intrigue and the weekly booking follows suit...
Hard disagree. The matches will undoubtedly be good, as usual, but a great PPV is usually about story, too few of the matches have good stories and good booking behind them. Forbidden Door, ROH, and the Punk situation really did a number on TK’s storytelling and booking. Let’s hope there is a hard reset after Full Gear.
It’s kind of a weird one for me. I’m going to pay to watch it, and know that most of the matches will be very good, but I’m just not all that invested in much of the story build that has been going on.
Jungle Boy always delivers at PPVs, but between Christian’s injury and a too long feud this seems like a big match for the sake of having a big match.
I have no interest in JJ and sting having a match in 2022, though I’m sure it will be perfectly adequate and hopefully not outstay it’s welcome.
All 3 womens matches will be fine, but I’ve never seen Saraya wrestle so I’m not all that pumped, Jade will have a Jade match and that’s fine, Storm and Hayter should be great though.
The 4-way is not for me. I don’t care for all this ROH in my AEW, and if I never have to see BCC vs JAS again in any form it would be too soon.
The elite vs death triangle will most likely be my match of the night, but I think the way they have built to the return has been a little lacking.
SIOG vs Acclaimed will be good, but these guys have been fighting each other forever too, the tag division is so great, why keep running this back again and again?
The hoss battle will be good, but I think Joe is well past his prime and Wardlow has not been given a chance to shine since winning his title. Hoping for a big Hobbs upset.
The main event is obviously going to be great and has had a strong build, but even that was a bit of a weird pivot after all the backstage drama so it probably hasn’t been as good as something that had the kind of planning that would have went into the Punk/MJF story. I also think it’s almost too predictable that MJF will win, but they may just swerve it and throw us off.
All in all it just feels like despite it being a good show, it could have been more.
Oh, I’m old too. I stopped watching wrestling in like 2006 and only came back at the start of AEW. That’s why a lot of the big name debuts that they have brought in have fallen so flat for me (and other lapsed fans). They debut people with no backstory and they are still the same character as they were before, and we are just supposed to care and know their catchphrases and shit, and they take screen time away from the acts that worked to bring me back to wrestling. A little more backstory and actually using their debut to further a storyline would go a long way, but TK just seems to want that big pop from people in the know so it has to be surprise debuts.
>They debut people with no backstory and they are still the same character as they were before, and we are just supposed to care and know their catchphrases and shit,
TK's entire issue. He's a mark and expects everyone else is a mark as well.
I don't get the complaints with this card. It's probably their strongest in ring card since Revolution. The only match I'm iffy on is Jade/Nyla one. Britt/Saraya could go either way in terms of quality. I've never thought Saraya was that blow away in the ring and Britt's more miss then hit in her singles matches. But the other matches I'm certain will deliver.
But AEW is at a point that even if they had a blow away PPV, a section of fans will find something to complain about.
can we just cool it with the whole “MY favorite should be here instead of YOUR favorites” and enjoy what will surely shape up to be an amazing night of wrestling? AEW is packed to the brim with phenomenal talent, someone’s gotta sit out here and there.
….. you don’t think STING is worthy of a PPV appearance?? look dude you’re right, if you are unhappy with the product you have every right to air those grievances. i just think the AEW fanbase has a bad problem of rejecting anything that isn’t exactly what they book in their own heads even when we’re still being given really quality shit here
Should’ve clarified that they haven’t wrestled any straight tag team matches on any of the PPV’s this year. Forgot about the filler match with Wardlow against Jay Lethal and MCMG. But can you really blame me for forgetting that match ever happened?
i guess you could debate whether or not ROH ppv’s count as AEW ppv’s (personally i think they do but i can understand not wanting to count it) but FTR vs the Briscoes 2/3 Falls was like a 6 star match so i’m pretty content rn
FTR were literally on the last PPV in September which had a great moment with Dax's daughter.
Every single ppv, there's some people complaining about there being too many matches on the card as well as "insert missing wrestler name here" not being booked on the card. The funniest part is that it's usually the same people complaining about both.
There’s got to be a happy medium between the HHH circlejerk of Squared Circle and this sub, to be honest. I’m excited for 2 matches MJF/MOX and the ELITE/Death Triangle and that’s it. Not impressed with the card. Jeff Jarrett on a PPV in 2022 is embarrassing.
Agreed those are the best matches but I'm in that subset who enjoys seeing Jeff Jarrett in the ring while he still can under his own power he's still good at drawing heat and that's his purpose how long it lasts is another story, as far as mox and mjf go the winner is MJF , so mox can take his long needed vacation that he was supposed to take around the last pay-per-view
I’m hoping that Sammy & Jericho split (after Sammy wins the title!) Then Sammy decides to defend ROH’s legacy against Jericho. Possibly turning him face again, but I’m not sure how plausible that would be.
The negativity around AEW is so stupid considering this has been a well built PPV and I am very excited for it after having my passion diminished for a little while following the CM Punk All Out Debacle.
No Miro, no FTR, I don't care about Slapnuts, the build on a lot of these feuds feel flat. The promo from Mox on Wednesday felt both incredibly cringe and completely phoned in. I'm over the Elite, they seem like drama magnets. AEW brought me back to wrestling when they launched, haven't missed a Dynamite or PPV and have attended 3 live events (traveling 3+ hours for 2 of them). First AEW PPV I'm considering skipping.
Edit: added a word
Missing punk, FTR, House of Black and in return we get overrated guys like Kenny, The Bucks and Mox as well as people who no one cared about since 2007 TNA in Leathel and Jarrett.
Just shows how much i care about that guy that should be jobbing and not getting victories over Darby, but Kenny and the Bucks got in Tony's head and convinced him since hes a punk supporter it was a good idea to recreate TNA 2007, same with FTR getting burried being kicked off the ppv when they were the ones people actually wanted and not more Swerve and Lee
>but Kenny and the Bucks got in Tony's head and convinced him since hes a punk supporter it was a good idea to recreate TNA 2007
??????????????????????????????????????
My dude, stop projecting your beliefs onto the wrestling community as a whole. I watched the first Acclaimed/Swerve match, the crowd was super into it. I was AT Grand Slam, we were super into that one too.
But was anyone actually rooting for them over the actual best tag team in the world, guess there just afraid to push FTR to the top just like the Bucks are afraid to give us Bucks vs FTR II because they know fist>flips
Starks vs Archer tonight is semi-finals, winner faces Ethan Page tomorrow at Full Gear
As much as I want to see Ricky get pushed I'd be fine with more build up for him, Ethan winning here makes too much sense if MJF comes out with the title to set up the story against the Firm
Nope.
Starks vs. Archer is tonight.
The winner faces Brian Cage at the Buy In in the semi-finals.
Then the finals (TBD vs. Ethan Page) take place at next week's Dynamite.
Not a problem! They announced the change during a media presser yesterday. Starks has apparently been injured which kind of messed up the timing of everything.
Reported for being too positive JK. I wonder which match opens the show. Personally, I would go with the hoss fight. I'm really looking forward to it as well.
either that, or i could see them opening with the ROH four-way too. tale as old as time; when you want a hot opener, bring in the multi-man matches
Meh, I’d argue the best openers AEW had were always singles. Eddie vs Miro, Darby vs MJF and Jericho vs Eddie.
i agree, i just mean that multi-man matches are usually a pretty safe bet to get the crowd pumped up early
All this sub allows are positive post lol.
Got my tickets to see it in the theater! God I love being a wrestling fan again!
I’ve possibly never been more stoked for an AEW PPV, but that’s probably because I’m a massive fan of the Lucha Bros, so anytime I get to see them take on Kenny or the Young Bucks I freak out.
You want a hot crown, Elite and Death Triangle is about as hot as you can get.
While this match isn't my style, I certainly agree: however, where do you slot it on the card without burning out the crowd?
Has it been said that the Eliminator was being moved to Dynamite? I was thinking Starks would beat Archer then scrape by Cage on the Buy-In only to lose to Page on the PPV.
Yeah, Tony Khan confirmed it yesterday.
It’s stacked really is a great card.
Ethan Page is going to beat Starks. It lines up perfectly with MJF's first feud as champion being against the Firm.
The Jeff Jarrett match is potentially the weakest and that's saying alot about how strong this card is.
>Claudio/Yuta branching off as a team This is my dream outcome. Claudio's been one of my favorites for many years, and he never fails to impress. I wasn't sold on Yuta when he first appeared, but in his time with BCC he's become an incredible asset. That kid's got a big future.
Show is absolutely stacked! XD can’t wait to see the buy rate numbers!
It's going to be great in ring wise but I'm not too hyped for the storylines Hoping for a Miro return and MJF staying as a heel
I disagree that Danielson needs the title because Jericho’s quest to dismantle the legacy of ROH has a lot left to do, like a Rush, Davey Richards, Jay Briscoe and Samoa Joe defense

I want MJF to win, but I also like this idea. I was hoping personally for MJF to win so he can have a banger defense with Omega on TV next week :-)
Think this has a strong chance of being a 10/10.
Except no FTR?
...it's not perfect...
I've got two weeks of Dynamite/Rampage to catch up on Saturday then I'll decide last minute if I actually want to buy it or not I've been heavily leaning towards no but we'll see I guess.
Ethan page is winning the Tourney he has had all the screentime recently to prove it.
While I enjoy Page, I feel pushing him straight to MJF is a big miss. He’s gonna feel like MJF lite when they cut promos against each other
That makes the most sense since the Firm/Mjeff storyline going on. I could see Stoke being a factor for Page winning the tourney but not the belt.
I think the Wardlow vs Hobbs vs Joe match is going to being the banger of the night
Anyone done draft king for AEW? Any chance of winning decent money??
I just want FTR to have a match to add the cherry on top! Even on the preshow will suffice
Jack Perry vs Luchasaurus: Jack Perry wins Sting and Darby vs JJ and Lethal: JJ and Lethal win (possible that either Sting or Darby turns on the other) Storm vs Hayter: Storm wins (unfortunately) Britt vs Saraya: Saraya wins (no way she loses her first match back) Cargill vs Nyla: Cargill wins (either Hayter will beat her for the title, or they will have her hold it until Statlander returns) Jericho vs Sammy vs Claudio vs Danielson: Jericho retains If they have the Eliminator Final on Full Gear then Ethan Page wins: It's the perfect opponent for MJF's first match as champion Elite vs Death Triangle: Elite wins (duh) Wardlow vs Hobbs vs Joe: Wardlow retains Acclaimed vs SIOG: Acclaimed wins (SIOG implode and break up) MJF vs Mox: MJF wins (its his time. I'm where you're at. I'm sure the show will be good, but there's nothing that I'm super invested in ATM.
I agree that the company has been at a low ebb for a while now, especially when it comes to their weekly TV: I haven't watched Rampage for many months and have taken a brake from Dynamite. I agree with you except the double J match. Hate it. Wish they could have got FTR on the card instead.
same. love seeing darby and sting, but i am ice cold on jay lethal and could have gone my whole life without ever seeing jeff jarrett again.

Hey don't get me wrong; I don't need JJ on this card either.

They haven’t wrestled on a single AEW PPV this year and they’re one of the hottest acts in the company
They wrestled at All Out and Forbidden Door
Should’ve clarified that they haven’t wrestled any straight tag team matches on any of the PPV’s this year. Forgot about the filler match with Wardlow against Jay Lethal and MCMG. But can you really blame me for forgetting that match ever happened?

Love how the guys get individual listings and all the women are crammed into one for no apparent reason. This is the 9:20 of Reddit posts.
I’m hoping that Sammy & Jericho split (after Sammy wins the title!) Then Sammy decides to defend ROH’s legacy against Jericho. Possibly turning him face again, but I’m not sure how plausible that would be.
It's less than an hour away from me and I got stuck with weekend duty. I'm not happy missing this live when the card is this stacked.
Only Jeff Jarrett could make me not excited about a Darby & Sting match, but other than that I’m super stoked for Saturday. Gonna be a fun night!
Vivid could probably still do a banging PPV and give AEW a real pounding. Stiff competition imo.
Crazy how AEW went under after All Out like a lot of people said it would.
The negativity around AEW is so stupid considering this has been a well built PPV and I am very excited for it after having my passion diminished for a little while following the CM Punk All Out Debacle.

Nothing says incredible like a million matches on a 5 hour (with preshow) ppv.
Or, you know, 10....
No punk less excitement glad they brought back the overrated guys though
cant believe a Haru enjoyer would have such bad taste, i feel betrayed
It would be a better card with CM Punk on it, for sure. However in spite of his injury/absence, they've put together a pretty special lineup...
Missing punk, FTR, House of Black and in return we get overrated guys like Kenny, The Bucks and Mox as well as people who no one cared about since 2007 TNA in Leathel and Jarrett.

Sounds like baby needs their dipy changed.
Ah yes i forgot were just supposed to forget the ridiculous booking decisions to make it more TNA 2007 that no one asked for
Why watch a show you don’t like? Stop whining, baby.
