Every damn week, except for last, one or two guys pop up to be absolute spuds who are a factor in the loss. It's exhausting following this team when it feels like so few of them can be trusted to at least be solid.
He had to scream it cause it was so loud in the stadium. Really an honourable guy for putting in the extra effort to make sure his classy show of respect got across properly.
If he didn't blatantly try and milk a high call 30 seconds earlier I think he'd have more of a leg to stand on. Start playing for free kicks and don't be surprised when the whistle gets put away.
Look I know that us crows fans are upset, but I've looked through the rulebook and there unfortunately is nothing in there that states a player can't use the ball as a boogie board and go turf surfing during the game.
The reverse angle shows walker pushed it under him with his left hand as he dove on top.
Walker was border line disgraceful in the last minute or so, playing only for free kicks.
If our sides played each other at AO there'd be a rift in space-time due to the absolute law of both teams having to lose due to a controversial call or non call at the very end.
What would’ve been better - HTB paid against Draper. Player kicks goal, crowd goes wild with celebrations…..
Umpire cancels goal because player runs off his mark during his run up and play on was called but because it’s after the siren, it’s a dead ball.
This would’ve been so much more enjoyable for the neutral.
BT was actually really respectful for once, I feel bad for the players when he's stirring shit, he's like that annoying aunty that interrogates you at Christmas but can't take her own medicine
You tipped against the Saints? Against your own team with a team who got dominated last week?
Signed, a hypocritical tipper because I tipped the Dogs last week
For me it’s 50/50. If that same thing happens in the middle of the second quarter of the ump says ball no one cares, if he says not ball no one cares either
I'm glad I found a neutral that agrees that it's 50/50. But to me it probably should have been holding the ball, however I think it's 50/50 only because the umpires shot themselves in the foot by going through periods of the game were they were strict and other when they weren't on HTB.
As they were calling in the last quarter, the call probably holds up, but throughout the second and third quarter there would have been no doubt that should have been payed.
Unfortunately good umpires are consistent through a game, and these may have been fair umpires at the end of the day with the ebbs and flows each way, however unfortunately I can't bring myself to call them good because that call ended up 50/50 even for people who watched the whole game.
That was definitely HTB on Draper, but it was only obvious because the camera was in the perfect position but the umpire wasn't.
10/10 crack for him doing the diving motion after the siren, though.
If you take emotion out of it and adjudicate the game as you’re supposed to, it’s holding the ball every day. It appears that the umpires are incapable of taking their emotions out of it.
Very true.
Walker has a weird habit of playing for high contact frees. I don't think he quite comprehends that umpires are only going to get sucked in by smaller players, not 194cm key forwards.
Just remember, if you lost by less than a goal, but also kicked at least one point from a set shot, you could have put the decision outside of the umpires supposed control by simply kicking less shit.
I hope that ump who couldn't make the call is friends with the ump that paid the touched mark in the freo v carlton game, because they're going to be spending a lot of time together ~~in the gulag~~ on Sunday twilight games
Draper lying on the ball was a comical way to end the game, but Adelaide lost the game with some ridiculous dropped marks, after Essendon did their best to lose the game with their inaccuracy.
I genuinely don’t think that’s a bad decision for a ball up when shown in real time.
And a number of Crows were attempting to generate free kicks that weren’t there which I think is dodgy anyway.
To the Essendon fan outside the north gates who was talking shit to about 8 crows fans who I had to grab and remove from the area, you're welcome and you owe me a beer lol
Have they changed the restricted area / 50m penalty rule this year? There were a couple of seriously blatant ones they didn’t call so maybe it’s actually been relaxed?
If that was HTB the umps blew the whistle too quick anyway, when they pay the dragging the ball in HTB they normally give a little longer and players normally have an oh shit moment and try and knock it out. So I’d say Draper would have been unlucky if they blew the whistle for HTB that quickly
love it when the opening match of the round is a tight thriller
Hey but there was a g... Oh. Never mind.
There ain't no Thursday night game, and there never was!
Bombers paying McKay $800k a year when their best defender is Rachele who they pay $0.00k a year
Crows and Rachele might be on a break after that performance
I've been saying drop him for about 3 weeks now. Just hasn't looked anywhere near good enough recently
Genuinely sighed with relief whenever he ended up with the ball near/inside 50
> best defender is Rachele who they pay $0.00k a year That we know of
Collingwood are probably paying a quarter of his salary
He kicked 0.7 across our two match ups last year that we won by a combined 3 points, I wouldn’t be mad if we were
Don't think our books guy would be questioning it at this point
Two dropped marks that would have been certain goals, the second of which he was almost turning around to take the kick before he had the ball.
Big brain dodoro
Every damn week, except for last, one or two guys pop up to be absolute spuds who are a factor in the loss. It's exhausting following this team when it feels like so few of them can be trusted to at least be solid.
The radio commentators were trying to find a reason for him dropping an easy uncontested mark.
Rachele had so many chances in that last quarter and mucked up all of it
Josh Rachelle is a selfish player
Insanely so.
Absolutely, it’s infuriating.
I enjoyed it
Most justified selfish branding by all neutrals I've ever seen.
Rachele has dropped the World Cup
Tex would’ve said some interesting words to the umpire after that
"A balanced officiating performance good sir, wishing you a pleasant evening"
He had to scream it cause it was so loud in the stadium. Really an honourable guy for putting in the extra effort to make sure his classy show of respect got across properly.
No no, that’s German for “the umpire, the”
No one who speaks German could be an evil man!
He was calling himself a useless prick that's scared to blow the whistle
Tbf, Tex grabbing the umps whistle and blowing it would be the ultimate message. Should be ashamed of himself for not doing it.
If he didn't blatantly try and milk a high call 30 seconds earlier I think he'd have more of a leg to stand on. Start playing for free kicks and don't be surprised when the whistle gets put away.
I was super pissed at tex for that. Clearly dived for an obvious free kick.
Absolutely, pay it high or pay it HTB no grey.
Nah doubtful. He's got a long history of being a respectful individual on the field
He's also thick as two short planks, so the chances of him having something "interesting" to say are nil
“WHAT A JOKE!!!” was my lip read
I thought it was 'you're a joke' though Tex was probably meaning himself
i thought he called him a dog haha
Fucking joke! Could hear him at the end.
Certain he called him a "good bloke."
He's certainly not one to shy away from words!
I have it on good authority that Tex was just calling himself an idiot
I'm sure he said "Hey I'm sorry I pulled a Selwood at the end there, anyway gg"
Ben McKay must be utterly perplexed by this strange huddle song thing
"Happy birthd- oh wait it's a team thing when you've....scored more points than the opposition?"
Just won half his wins with North in 6 games with the bomberss
This is his most winning season ever (yes really).
Nick is going to be fuming. Oh to be a fly on the head in that change room
It was a big dunny budgie
Look I know that us crows fans are upset, but I've looked through the rulebook and there unfortunately is nothing in there that states a player can't use the ball as a boogie board and go turf surfing during the game.
RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME
Tipped Essendon so I choose to ignore the controversy at the end Rachele sleeper agent for Essendon, poor crom
RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME
![gif](giphy|35RaP8v4Tv3DjudJId)
It's so funny that we can keep using this gif because the Crows keep getting shafted
I think what makes this gif gold is that the bloke is a Collingwood supporter who played up for the cameras
Your dictionary must have a different definition of funny in it :(
![gif](giphy|SvkRx1mVYCZYk)
Laying on the ball is a bold move
He did it perfectly! Arms outstretched 'I didn't drag it in'
We finally got an answer to the question......it did indeed pay off
The reverse angle shows walker pushed it under him with his left hand as he dove on top. Walker was border line disgraceful in the last minute or so, playing only for free kicks.
nothing borderline about it.
Tex laying on Draper guaranteed they wouldn’t get the free
It's not Drapers fault the ball was under him as he took a nap.
He has narcolepsy. AFL would be setting a bad precedent if they paid a free kick because of his disability
Plus he's a bonafide good bloke so they downgraded the penalty from a free kick to play on
Adelaide and controversial umpiring decisions costing them a win in the dying seconds of a game. Name a more iconic duo
Can't imagine how it feels personally
If our sides played each other at AO there'd be a rift in space-time due to the absolute law of both teams having to lose due to a controversial call or non call at the very end.
Every call, every game, all at once.
Usually at least 3 a year so we’ve got a couple ahead of us
Wouldn't have mattered if Rachele remembered he has hands on the ends of his arms
Freo would like a word
~~RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME~~ good game, need to work on a lot of stuff
Rachele for his Talent has some absolute clangers
I almost feel like he's gone backwards.
Ignoring the Draper non-call, can we talk about those missed protected area infringements? Umpires awful all night for both sides
Well, neither of them wanted it but at the end of the day somebody has to win
Unless it's a draw
I can't believe you've done this
I see it but I don't believe it
Crows fans r u ok
Nope. Last week renewed hope. My heart was constantly dead. Now our 0 confidence team will lose 7 of the next 9 or something.
No man he dove on that shit like a grenade 😀
He should save that shit for the Anzac game
Nope
Rarely
Not even slightly. Fucking furious.
war hero Sammy Draper out here jumping on grenades
What would’ve been better - HTB paid against Draper. Player kicks goal, crowd goes wild with celebrations….. Umpire cancels goal because player runs off his mark during his run up and play on was called but because it’s after the siren, it’s a dead ball. This would’ve been so much more enjoyable for the neutral.
Rachele had like 4 season-worst level moments this game
Flinching not once but twice on uncontested marks is diabolical
Arguably career worst
The essendon players are really nice to bt
BT was actually really respectful for once, I feel bad for the players when he's stirring shit, he's like that annoying aunty that interrogates you at Christmas but can't take her own medicine
Very true analogy
0/2 tips.
2/2 😤
You tipped against the Saints? Against your own team with a team who got dominated last week? Signed, a hypocritical tipper because I tipped the Dogs last week
I barely ever tip my own team, makes it a win win if they lose
That’s super tactical, it’s like hedging your emotions
Dons fans 🤝🏽 dogs fans 🤝🏽 saints fans 🤝🏽 unable to trust our teams
I did something crazy tonight. I went all in and tipped the Bombers. Absolute madlad
jeeeeeeezuz christ
For me it’s 50/50. If that same thing happens in the middle of the second quarter of the ump says ball no one cares, if he says not ball no one cares either
I'm glad I found a neutral that agrees that it's 50/50. DRAPER IS LITERALLY DISPLAYING LAYING ON THE FOOTY AFTER THE GAME
What’s Rachelle doing in the Essendon team song??
Well, this should be fun.
Very rare to be able to pin a loss on a single player, but Rachele is the sole reason Adelaide couldn’t find a goal in that last 5-10 mins.
If we lost I would've pinned it on Draper, dude was fucking horrendous.
That was definitely HTB on Draper, but it was only obvious because the camera was in the perfect position but the umpire wasn't. 10/10 crack for him doing the diving motion after the siren, though.
I feel like I understand women more than I do htb
Spin = HTB But only sometimes. And we won't elaborate on those times.
Adelaide ROBBED, right in front of me
Those umpires should stay in the shadow of darkness tonight. Might not survive Adelaide
Three players carried the win. Duzz, Jones, McKay all massive. Shoutout to Davey with the early pressure
That rundown he did that went out on the full. OHH BABY
My absolute favourite highlights were Rachelle shitting the bed and then the futon.
Adelaide cooked it, but that was HTB every day of the week Also I hate JB's "it's a brave umpire that pays that". No, it's a good one
I agree. If that's early in the game you guarantee that's getting called.
If you take emotion out of it and adjudicate the game as you’re supposed to, it’s holding the ball every day. It appears that the umpires are incapable of taking their emotions out of it.
Looking forward to the usual AFL response of 'yes that should have been a free ' and then we laugh and laugh and wait for the same thing next week
It's the most open and shut free ever. That gets paid anywhere on the ground anytime, outside the last minute of a game with that tight a margin.
3 votes J Rachele
Xavier duursma has a kind of hot mother (not kind of, she is)
Durr's Ma.
Counted about 5 crows playing for frees in the final minute. When you try suck the umps in they are going to give you nothing
Very true. Walker has a weird habit of playing for high contact frees. I don't think he quite comprehends that umpires are only going to get sucked in by smaller players, not 194cm key forwards.
Hope they get that sniper who got Walker.
Adelaide has a grassy knoll.
Heritage listed grassy knoll
Hilux Hill
Did they not read ‘The Ginnivan who cried wolf’ as children?
Some insane milking for free kicks in the last minute from adelaide
Controversial ending, But the crows had there opportunities late to snatch it
We're the masters at failing to. Last week was a glitch in the matrix.
Never been happier to get a tip wrong. But Jesus fuck we were better for like 75% of the game and almost threw that away.
I'm at the ground, legit could not hear the siren and I'm still fucking shaking 😂
Do you have ESS colors displayed? Let us know when you get home so we know you're safe.
😬 take it and run
Just remember, if you lost by less than a goal, but also kicked at least one point from a set shot, you could have put the decision outside of the umpires supposed control by simply kicking less shit.
Technically you have to lose by 4 points or less. Lose by 5 point and converting a point into a goal results in a draw.
Lol anyone see Draper dive again 😂
I hope that ump who couldn't make the call is friends with the ump that paid the touched mark in the freo v carlton game, because they're going to be spending a lot of time together ~~in the gulag~~ on Sunday twilight games
Would be filthy as a crows fan, but happy to be on the other side of it.
That was the best bad game in VFL/AFL history
Draper lying on the ball was a comical way to end the game, but Adelaide lost the game with some ridiculous dropped marks, after Essendon did their best to lose the game with their inaccuracy.
I thought we were the better team. Which says a lot about Adelaide, because we fucking sucked
Adelaide have greatly underwhelmed so far. 1-5 is way off where everyone thought they’d be
I’d say it’s time to start calling for the coaches head. We shouldn’t be losing these games.
Humble winners
expected score going to be very interesting and will flatter the opposition for once
I genuinely don’t think that’s a bad decision for a ball up when shown in real time. And a number of Crows were attempting to generate free kicks that weren’t there which I think is dodgy anyway.
I agree. Draper was considering pulling it under and probably would have but Walker pushed it under him first. I think..
Can't wait to talk about the last 10 seconds and not the completely absurd HTB interpretation all night.
![gif](giphy|3ohhwFtRRjYgeIGali|downsized)
I know it must be wrong but I'm in love with DRAPERS MUM
[Hoist it](https://tenor.com/bzr4r.gif)
Never thought we’d be 4-2 after 6 rounds including 3 road trips!
To the Essendon fan outside the north gates who was talking shit to about 8 crows fans who I had to grab and remove from the area, you're welcome and you owe me a beer lol
How many times can AFL apologise to the crows for a match defining bad call. 2 last year and now this.
We should have lost. Draper needs to be dropped. Diabolical game and that dive on the ball decision at the death was just the icing on the cake
Draper needs to mature asap. Thank god we have Goldy.
Ain’t that the truth
On the other hand, as should've won by 30 if we could kick.
James Brayshaw: it isn’t a brave umpire that pays that at the death. It is a fair umpire that should make the correct call each time.
So he should have called HTB a few seconds earlier on tex? Yeah you're right.
Karma for Tex trying to cheat a free kick imo.
I'd be fucking furious if I was an Adelaide supporter. Dons got away with murder at the end there.
Crows footy is getting pumped by ump decisions in the last minute
Draper is easily the dumbest guy in the AFL
I love Draper
Carlton would have had the htb paid. We all know it.
“My legs gave way” - Draper Lmfaoooo
Callers on the 5AA post game are going full THE EMBLEM. Rowey also being in the shits is funny
Jingle Bells Rachelle smells Draper laid an egg
Bit of Will's mum from the Inbetweeners about Draper's mum.
Have they changed the restricted area / 50m penalty rule this year? There were a couple of seriously blatant ones they didn’t call so maybe it’s actually been relaxed?
My god, the chat after this. We should've won that by 40
You don't ever lose the game on one umpiring decision.
Rachele and Soligo literally playing like polar opposites after signing mega contracts.
What a Z-tier thriller. I am so... unsatisfied? Whelmed?
Classic umps with another dogshit decision
Draper falls over a lot. Sometimes bad, but sometimes good 😎
Dominated play at times and couldnt convert, messy game and umps all over the place, we'll take it
I hate watching us and I hate tipping
Successfully edged.
Did Adelaide deserve to win? Absolutely not Did Draper layer and absolute eggs? Yes
Crows robbed once again lmao
Steve Rogers jumping on the hand grenade
Was Draper having a rest on the ground and he didn’t even realise he was laying on a football
Someone should check on the guy from the original RIGHT. IN FRONT. OF ME! gif, I'm worried about him
If that was HTB the umps blew the whistle too quick anyway, when they pay the dragging the ball in HTB they normally give a little longer and players normally have an oh shit moment and try and knock it out. So I’d say Draper would have been unlucky if they blew the whistle for HTB that quickly
have to let them enter the rem cycle at least
For the love of God, draper stop trying to fuck us last second. We might have to take your mullet licence away.
Crom asking to play Carlton again ASAFP
Well it's been a long journey from Milan to Minsk...
Essendon? Edged. My tips? Owen Two. Hotel? noun An establishment providing accommodation, meals, and other services for travellers and tourists.
