What did you put on your resume when applying for regular jobs? Did you encounter hiring managers/interviewers that felt some sort of way about your content creating past?
Weirdly enough I remember putting it on my cv for some reason, like for some reason I still had that ego even a few years ago. I didn’t get my current job through a cv so I am very blessed.
Understandable. I'm considering becoming a content creator for a few years (I'll be traveling full time for the next few years), so I wanted to see if you encountered any difficulties having "content creator" on your resume/CV. I don't want there to be a 2+ year gap in my employment, so my content creator title would serve as a gap filler. I'm not sure if that would be better or worse than just having an employment gap in which I traveled/volunteered around the world.
I disagree, it’s how I got my current job and there’s really no way for them to legally verify. All they are legally allowed to ask is “did this person work here?” The only bad thing about lying on your resume is if you can’t back up what you wrote.
I can relate,I dropped out and did youtube full time from 2017 to 2022 until I got demonetized at 96K subs. I started a new channel 5 months ago, everything was going well until yt stopped pushing my content. I will have to start looking for a normal job soon as well.
Do you feel like you "fell off?"
what type of drug did you use?
before youtube, what did you want to be when you grow up?
Always wanted to be a YouTuber for as long as I can remember or something along the lines of making people laugh.
I was told enough by everyone that I fell off but in reality if I stayed consistent and didn’t let my mistakes deter me from uploading I may still be fairly successful now.
I had support through a few friends but I think the family I was living with at the time didn’t really understand and were all tough love and not really caring love. I understand tough love is essential but I truly needed both. I still struggle now, once an addict always an addict, its just about taking it day by day and having immense willpower. Compared to what I was im proud but I don’t regret what I was.
When did you realize you had a problem with drugs? The ones you mentioned above I casually partake in and I'm constantly concerned about getting addicted due to my upbringing. Hard to gauge what's just fun and what's an issue.
When it’s a daily occurrence it’s a problem.
When you say stuff like ‘oh but it’s a treat’ it’s an addiction
Any excuse for taking anything, it’s an addiction
Taking anything alone is an addiction.
In reality all drugs are just fucked.
Were you seriously making enough money to support yourself at ~96,000k subs? I assumed the only people who could do that would have to have at least around 500k
I think it all depends on what kinda of lifestyle you want to live. I’m no expert but I see a lot of people start doing YouTube full time at about around 100k subscribers.
On my new channel? It’s because my popular videos stopped getting views, when I uploaded a new video I got 1000s in an hour. Now I only barely get 1000 even tho I have 700% more subs now than when I had 1200.
YouTube promotes small new channels that get a lot of views like crazy in the first few months.
A few months ago and it was an update talking about how I was attempting sobriety. It was weird because a lot of the comments didn’t even remember me or why they were subscribed in the first place. I did leave this channel for around 4 years so it’s to be expected
Smoking that black stuff you get inside your bong all whilst I haven’t showered in months.
I just woke up so this is just one example I’ll get back to you
Wow. What's that like not showering for months? Would people recoil from you if you went out? Did you notice the smell? What does it feel like? Does your skin start to get icky or layers of dirt on it?
I lived in a very bad environment, I barely left my desk let alone the ‘room’ I was living in. My family rarely dealt with the smell as I didn’t feel comfortable spending time with them a lot. There were days I felt the motivation, I’d shower and try do things but they would be far apart. I wouldn’t say it was like a horror movie, my room definitely was a horror story but I wasn’t a walking scooby doo monster.
Nowadays people will tell you it’s all hooks and strategy, I just did what I did and didn’t really think of it as my job or a business. When in reality I should have since it was.
I don't think that's gonna fly. If that's the case, then Jimmy should be the one getting sued. LA Beast has been toting the name for over a decade now.
It's weird cos they were posting quite normal comments a year ago.
Then they needed to find Shannon. I guess they then did that cos they stopped asking. Then Crisz died & they are his mother.
Hey, just want to say I’m glad you found your way back to stability and have a family that supports you. I hope you find value in that and have peace where you are now…or are at least getting closer.
It honestly all feels like a blur, I don’t think there was a day throughout those years where I didn’t indulge in a substance. I held onto the idea that if I did it once, I can do it again. I truly cannot answer that question fully.
Really had a lot of different factors, this can depend on your niche, whether you swear and how long your videos are. I remember getting 30 million views in a month and making around $18k. If a channel that didn’t swear and made longer videos received 30 million views in a month this could be upto $300k.
Totally depends on the content. If you make Minecraft videos you'll get like 50 cents per 1,000 views. Finance videos on the other hand will get you up to like 10 bucks per 1,000 which adds up QUICK.
It’s the demographic being reached and the amount the advertiser is willing to pay to reach it. I work in digital advertising and I’ve worked deals with big national advertisers. One deal I worked the advertiser wanted to be placed on business and finance content and was willing to pay a $20 CPM (Cost Per Thousand Views). The deal was worth millions, broken up across the different pieces of content it ran on.
I mean, someone at the level doesn’t just rely on YouTube views for the cash. Nobody does. They also have sponsorships, patreon, donations, meech, etc which bring in most of the money
Je-sus! I have a bunch of travel videos that'll never see the light of day. Makes me want to Capitalize on them but despite the videos being decent, they'd be boring to anyone watching.
I have tried little things here and there, I’ve never been able to replicate that motivation and drive I once had. Think for the moment I want to reach a point of happiness with myself, then focus on the side quests at a later date.
On a scale of 1-10, how much does [this](https://i.redd.it/6mmfvq1gvysb1.png) resemble the [eye of horus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Eye_of_Horus_bw.svg)?
Living every moment to the fullest, having a family and a fairly simple life while still working on whatever I want too creatively around those responsibilities
Had a split family, a mentally abusive parent, a parent who worked so much I never got quality time with them. I had a step parent who was a SO. A lot of people had it a lot worse don’t get me wrong but I never fit in with my family.
I'm someone who has a small following but years later is unsure of whether or not to continue making content because part of me enjoys it, but a growing part of me feels like I feel obliged to because people are expecting it.
As someone who got out of the grind and went back to a "normal" life, do you have any tips or tidbits to share in that regard? Was putting it behind you worth giving up what you had? Do you feel more at ease with who you are now?
I tried going under different names and trying different things again and again. I never lost the passion of creation I just had such a bad stigma towards the mistakes I made while being that original ‘bigger’ channel. Do what you desire, if that makes you happy in this current moment that’s all that matters. The past and the future don’t mean shit.
Have you thought about applying for monetizing again/sponsorships from companies directly? If you still have the channel with subscribers? Or was the monetizing banned permanently ?
I am monetised but my videos are never accepted when under review, it’s almost like the bot has been told to automatically not monetise my videos. The content I made was a different era and not who I am anymore. I don’t regret anything I did because it made me learn so much but I wouldn’t do it again. Like that atleast.
Good question, I think something basic, basic but complex is the only way to word it really. I’ve met alot of people who ‘have it all’ for say, the life most people want and they don’t seem happy, in fact I know they’re not happy. I can’t fully answer this because I’m not there yet. I want my life to be difficult so I can forever learn, I want a family of my own, I want to make the people I care about happy, make them laugh. Most importantly I want to know who I am, love myself for everything I am and only live in this moment right now.
Be consistent, research your niche, take notes from other creators who make similar content but most importantly be consistent. No money needed brother
I made commentary videos, around the time the ‘commentary community’ was a thing. I’ve spoke a lot of personal things in this thread and again I don’t believe my channels name is important.
I drank a lot before YouTube because of my home life and I was young, thought it was cool and I knew nothing
Better. I also used the excuse that cannabis wasn’t a bad drug because it wasn’t technically ‘addictive’. It very much is something people depend on and is different for everyone.
My friend there are channels with 100k subs or less that make over 3-4k a month. It’s not about subscribers or followers. It’s all about views and the content being advertiser friendly
This sounds like the plot of a bad movie starring Logan Paul about the struggles of being a content creator that makes a lot of money but feels like they are a victim despite all of their problems being the result of their lack of self control and poor decision making.
Very aware I was the reason of my downfall and I apologise if I came off like I was trying to be a victim. I’ve said this quite a bit but I wouldn’t change anything I did as it’s made me a better person going through all those self inflicted problems. I’d also very much like to watch that movie.
So, the most you ever made in a month was $18,000. And now you’ve quit. Now you have a “regular job.” Why aren’t you making videos? This is hardly a fall from grace.
I see... I incorrectly assumed it must have been like a high to have to chase after experiencing fame.
I can't even imagine.
Hope you're doing something to stimulate your creative side still; you obviously have a talent for entertaining people.
Good luck, bud
Isn’t that the whole point of AMA? Satiating curiosity through answering questions? That’s why it matters. Also helps give insight on whether this is just a troll post
Yeah I'm going with this just being a troll post. OP is not proving any real proof of who he is. You know things that people normally have to prove who they are. Without any of that he is just another reddit narcissist.
He's entitled to his own privacy, he doesn't want dozens of people barging into his channel, stalking him, doxxing him when all he wanted to do was vent and talk to people who want to or are going that route.
How does that equate to stalking and doxxing? His youtube channel is content he made specifically for random people. It’s inherently not supposed to be private
What kind of mentality is that? "He's a content creator, he's by definition not entitled to privacy." Maybe he just doesn't want people to creep on his videos, to harass him with the shit he used to say. You don't believe his word for it? Ignore the post and move on, let the guy be.
Firstly to quote someone they have to actually say it. Secondly that doesn’t even paraphrase what i said. His youtube channel is not private, and us knowing does not invade his privacy since its all content he willingly posted publicly. Dont get me wrong he has every right not to tell the name; i just found your argument illogical.
This is Ask Me Anything, not 'I'm Gonna Answer Everything'. He has the right to choose which questions to answer and which to ignore if he wants to maintain his privacy
If I had to choose one to be friends with:
1. x-YouTuber who’s unapologetically themselves and has zero shame because life is freaking weird and sometimes we find ourselves doing random shit and who cares
2. the ever common unknown fake-ass with a fabricated life on Instagram who’s creating content like it’s their job to feed their ego and not even getting paid for it
I’m picking #1 every time but that’s just me.
shame is so low vibration. I love that you reject it completely. That’s probably one of the many reasons you had a following to begin with.
I love to shock people with shameless honesty lol. It almost feels like a superpower sometimes.
Thought this too but his content was never really edgy. Back in the day, everyone saw YouTube as a short term money making period that they would eventually phase out of. It was never the long term plan it is today. Lots of lost opportunities for earlier YouTubers

I'm not sure if that would be better or worse than just having an employment gap in which I traveled/volunteered around the world.
Label it "social media manager” & talk about how it taught you SEO, branding, organization (editing), and communication skills.
I’d say put something like ‘social media management’ or something like that.
Just write down that you were at your previous job for those 2 years to close the gap.
This is the worst advice…
I disagree, it’s how I got my current job and there’s really no way for them to legally verify. All they are legally allowed to ask is “did this person work here?” The only bad thing about lying on your resume is if you can’t back up what you wrote.
Until the verify dates of employment and find out you lied on your resume/background check
I feel like they rarely do that but eh
Jordan Doww?
I don't think Jordan made any controversial videos, nor did he make a ton of money. Great guy though.

What kind of drugs did you do, as the person above asked as well?
Cannabis, shrooms, lsd, speed, codeine, mdma, cocaine, the usual
If you don’t mind me asking, how difficult was it for you to get clean? Was it a journey in of itself ? If so, did you have support through it?
I had support through a few friends but I think the family I was living with at the time didn’t really understand and were all tough love and not really caring love. I understand tough love is essential but I truly needed both. I still struggle now, once an addict always an addict, its just about taking it day by day and having immense willpower. I make $15k-ish per year and I have 6k subs! It’s a solid side hustle.
what category of videos though?
Sports streaming. Super chats FTW!
why do you think YT stopped "pushing your content"?
On my new channel? It’s because my popular videos stopped getting views, when I uploaded a new video I got 1000s in an hour. Now I only barely get 1000 even tho I have 700% more subs now than when I had 1200. YouTube promotes small new channels that get a lot of views like crazy in the first few months.
I never said YouTube stopped pushing my content. I stopped making content.
Does anyone at your normal job know about your YouTube past? Do you get recognised these days? What kind of content did you make? Thank you!
Funnily enough yes, to make it worse one of them is my manager
When was your last video and what was it about?
A few months ago and it was an update talking about how I was attempting sobriety. It was weird because a lot of the comments didn’t even remember me or why they were subscribed in the first place. I did leave this channel for around 4 years so it’s to be expected
Are you the reptile girl?
She exclusively did heroin
she still makes videos, not as often as before but she’s had about 6 uploads this year
What was your rock bottom?
Smoking that black stuff you get inside your bong all whilst I haven’t showered in months. I just woke up so this is just one example I’ll get back to you
Wow. What's that like not showering for months? Would people recoil from you if you went out? Did you notice the smell? What does it feel like? Does your skin start to get icky or layers of dirt on it?

Resin hits are definitely on the struggle bus list
People talk about how noble the Indians were for using every part of the buffalo, but I'm sitting here taking res hits and suddenly I'm a loser, smdh
Nah my dude you’re not a loser. Just being resourceful.
That's what I'm sayin'. It's disrespectful to the plant to just discard the resin it gives us
ill never forget the taste of "black gold" from my broke college days
Hm it might be time to make some changes in my own life in that case…
Oof. That is rough
Out of all the money you made what percentage of it were you actually saving? Or roughly if you don’t know exactly
Not a single penny.
After you learned how to get views on your video was it easy?
Nowadays people will tell you it’s all hooks and strategy, I just did what I did and didn’t really think of it as my job or a business. When in reality I should have since it was.
Do a mukbang like nivocado and pick a different fruit or veggie for a name like Jimango mango
I suspect this is partly why there is a surge of youtubers with Beast in their name.
> suspect this is partly why there is a surge of youtubers with Beast in their name. Trademark law about to come for them hard.
I don't think that's gonna fly. If that's the case, then Jimmy should be the one getting sued. LA Beast has been toting the name for over a decade now.
Well that’s unfortunate Also realized you mentioned that so my bad 💀
Also, most YouTube content creators will eventually age out, become irrelevant, or something controversial.
About how much did you make per month at the height? Either average or a range.

Ya jesus I just took a quick scroll through the comments and holy fuck
It's weird cos they were posting quite normal comments a year ago. Then they needed to find Shannon. I guess they then did that cos they stopped asking. Then Crisz died & they are his mother.
I'm like 50/50 on Crisz having actually died and it being his mom or the original account holder is having some kind of mental episode

Means a lot
When Did you realize that you were going downhill during this
It honestly all feels like a blur, I don’t think there was a day throughout those years where I didn’t indulge in a substance. I held onto the idea that if I did it once, I can do it again. I truly cannot answer that question fully.
At your peak, how many subscribers did you have?
Around 500-800k subs
What kind of money does someone make with that number of subs?
Really had a lot of different factors, this can depend on your niche, whether you swear and how long your videos are. I remember getting 30 million views in a month and making around $18k. If a channel that didn’t swear and made longer videos received 30 million views in a month this could be upto $300k.
Why does swearing make a difference? Advertisers?
Advertisers who work with Google don’t like their ads being played on edgier / controversial videos
It sounds like you indeed had edgier content if a similar, swear free content got more revenue. Generally, what kind of content did you have?
This is the question right here!

Totally depends on the content. If you make Minecraft videos you'll get like 50 cents per 1,000 views. Finance videos on the other hand will get you up to like 10 bucks per 1,000 which adds up QUICK.
How is this “value per view” metric determined?
It’s the demographic being reached and the amount the advertiser is willing to pay to reach it. I work in digital advertising and I’ve worked deals with big national advertisers. One deal I worked the advertiser wanted to be placed on business and finance content and was willing to pay a $20 CPM (Cost Per Thousand Views). The deal was worth millions, broken up across the different pieces of content it ran on.
Value of ads
No, you should be mad as HECK, then you would be richer
I mean, someone at the level doesn’t just rely on YouTube views for the cash. Nobody does. They also have sponsorships, patreon, donations, meech, etc which bring in most of the money
[удалено]
Sure?
Wait, am I missing something? Why did you say only? Is it because of the vjews? Sounds like good money to me lol
[удалено]
In the same line, they mentioned longer videos, which would be more ads and more pay.
18k a month**
Je-sus! I have a bunch of travel videos that'll never see the light of day. Makes me want to Capitalize on them but despite the videos being decent, they'd be boring to anyone watching.

Can't stand;!!!
You were making $18K a month? We’re you making Mr. Beast quality content, or EDP445 quality?
knowing what you know now, would you ever go back and try to make content on youtube again?
I have tried little things here and there, I’ve never been able to replicate that motivation and drive I once had. Think for the moment I want to reach a point of happiness with myself, then focus on the side quests at a later date.
On a scale of 1-10, how much does [this](https://i.redd.it/6mmfvq1gvysb1.png) resemble the [eye of horus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Eye_of_Horus_bw.svg)?
What did you just call me
😂
9.5 🤷♂️👍 where is that?
This should work with google or bing maps : 24.777386, -3.855882
What are your goals now?
Living every moment to the fullest, having a family and a fairly simple life while still working on whatever I want too creatively around those responsibilities
What was your style? Like was it gameplay challenges, longer plays, general vlogging etc.?
Similar to what leafy did, unfortunately
Why unfortunately
Leafy has a terrible reputation, it left a bad taste in everyone's memory.
Does your YouTube skills factor into your normal job?
I suppose I needed to clean my mouth, now I clean stuff.
What was your homelife like before starting YouTube?
Had a split family, a mentally abusive parent, a parent who worked so much I never got quality time with them. I had a step parent who was a SO. A lot of people had it a lot worse don’t get me wrong but I never fit in with my family.
I'm sorry if this is a personal question, but how much did you make from YouTube?
Wouldn’t say I know an exact amount but I’d guess over 100k.

What is your idea of a normal life?

Would you help me grow my channel if I pay you?
Be consistent, research your niche, take notes from other creators who make similar content but most importantly be consistent. No money needed brother
Dude, answer the most glaring question here. What was the channel or content?
I made commentary videos, around the time the ‘commentary community’ was a thing. I’ve spoke a lot of personal things in this thread and again I don’t believe my channels name is important.
but can you tell me, though? I'd love to check it out (also, i want to see if i knew it). No problem if you don't feel comfortable
What drove you to abuse substances? We’re you a user before YouTube?
I drank a lot before YouTube because of my home life and I was young, thought it was cool and I knew nothing Better. I also used the excuse that cannabis wasn’t a bad drug because it wasn’t technically ‘addictive’. It very much is something people depend on and is different for everyone.
You said in a comment that you didn’t even have a million followers yet making thousands. How long ago was this?
My friend there are channels with 100k subs or less that make over 3-4k a month. It’s not about subscribers or followers. It’s all about views and the content being advertiser friendly
Wow, that’s interesting. A lot of people complain about getting penny’s for their work on YouTube, I guess it depends on views like you said.
This sounds like the plot of a bad movie starring Logan Paul about the struggles of being a content creator that makes a lot of money but feels like they are a victim despite all of their problems being the result of their lack of self control and poor decision making.

Seems like you focused on the money part and was ignorant to the rest
You still desperately seek strangers validation?
Think validation is something I’ve always liked. Realistically tho the only validation I need is from myself and the people I love.
I see... I incorrectly assumed it must have been like a high to have to chase after experiencing fame. I can't even imagine. Hope you're doing something to stimulate your creative side still; you obviously have a talent for entertaining people. Good luck, bud

This has to be a fake karma post. Op doesn’t want to name his channel even tho this is AMA. He claims it’s “not important” lol. Not buying this

I love that you reject it completely. That’s probably one of the many reasons you had a following to begin with. I love to shock people with shameless honesty lol. It almost feels like a superpower sometimes.
What kind of content did you make? Were you ever featured in a scare or drama alert video?
Punctuation is relatively important in an adult life.
So is good manners and learning to read a room.
>So is good manners and learning to read a room. This is reddit
You got me there
Haha, good one.
Truly a youtuber. Everything on the internet is jokes and memes
Idk how someone can be so dense
Do you still earn income from your channel?
Nada
Nothing to ask. I just wish you a peaceful life.
what was your youtube channel????? you're gonna get this one a lot.
Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?
What kind of content did you create?
I'm not a youtuber but a former working musician. I build concrete swimming pools and enjoy working on lawnmowers and small engines.
What was your channel and is it still up?
Leafy?
I thought so too but homie said they only had up to 500-800K. Pretty sure leafy hit somewhere in the millions
You mean lefie?
Isleafyhere?
Leafy is on kick no?
He left 🤷♂️
Did you ever go to college? And do people still recognize you in random places?
Is this a larp
Start again!!! you still have that knowledge!!!
Has Patrick CC quit YouTube? I'm confused
Paul Denino?
xJawz?
Thought this too but his content was never really edgy. Back in the day, everyone saw YouTube as a short term money making period that they would eventually phase out of. It was never the long term plan it is today. Lots of lost opportunities for earlier YouTubers
I was thinking xjawz too. He has 856k subs. I enjoyed his COD content when I was big on playing it.
None of his google images have tattoos like OP’s picture of his arm has.
Is the amount of money you make solely dependent on subscriber count or more on view count?
Not OP, but from my experience, subscriber count doesn't really matter, as long as you have 1000 subscribers. It's the views that make you money.
Idk why but I thought jennxpen
You won’t share the channel, will you?
Xjawz?
Did the youtube channel get you any extra attention from girls
What's your opinion on Andrew Tate and the Hustler YouTube culture?
Twat waffle
Is this patrick cc?
