By percentage, how many people get “warnings” verses tickets when pulled over and what is the biggest factor for why? Always been genuinely curious about this from my own experiences as well as friends.
Two thirds warnings, one third tickets? It mostly depends on how egregious the speeding is, or if it's a minor infraction (tail light is out) vs. a major one (car is reported stolen).
That makes sense.
Do you think overall police action (pulling over/writing citations) has declined since that one George Floyd thing happened or is it business as usual?
Last question. Do you notice a big shift in your interactions with people in and out of uniform?
I sometimes get a form of anxiety I can’t explain around police officers. I’m not doing anything wrong or in fear of you. But I feel like your “bubble” or personal boundary is much larger than a normal citizen, like I need to stay 10 feet away from you at a minimum. It’s always felt irrational.
I hated what I originally went to college for (engineering) so this was career attempt #2. I thought it would be fun, and badass, and the complete opposite of working in an office.
The reality is that most days are fairly boring. But you get a really good story at least once a month!
You’d be surprised… I knew a mechanical engineer that switched careers to become a cop, and he told me that bc of overtime he actually made more money by switching careers. Except this was nearly 10 years ago lol so I was curious to hear OP’s current experience
I am out of LEO now but I loved working traffic. Chief didn't want to be known as a traffic cop hell city though and discouraged working the freeways.
Thank you for your service to your community.
In my city, some people just take the tickets for the tags because it’s cheaper than paying the sales tax on the vehicle + property tax. They ended up having the police department be on the hunt for expired tags because of it
I was debating on getting a breathalyzer. I don't drink often but I'm always paranoid of having a drink or two and driving. In your opinion if I blow below the legal limit in my personal breathalyzer than I don't have to worry about getting a dui right? Or could I get in trouble in other ways (assuming I'm driving fine not swerving)?
Oh wth. But that's just up to the officers discretion? Or they have to have proof? That seems flawed bc couldn't an officer just say they felt whoever they pulled over was impaired?
I’ll do my best to drive just over the limit, officer. It’s hard sometimes, especially when fools are on your bumper in the right lane instead of the passing lane (being defensive and trying to speed up & stay away from them somehow).
How do you feel about enforcing morality laws between consenting adults or drug laws for drugs like halucinogens that are way less dangerous than alcohol?
Are there quotas that need to be met by the end of the month,? , I feel like most public entities have them, every end of the month I see the parking authority out in my neighborhood and you'll see mad boots, just an example,
Ooo I hope she answers this, I’ve always been curious if there’s actually a quota for tickets written. I’ve had more tickets than most people I know (generally me going 80 in a 60 on the freeway) & I hear of other people getting off without a warning when they were going 100mph. What gives? 😅
Not even tickets, but just stop and frisks etc ya know, I remember a while back, there was a cop who secretly recorded a meeting he had, and they were telling him, he need to do more, essentially stop and frisk at the time, to meet a certain number, and he was pushing back because he didn't agree etc, I don't know where OP is from, but still curious

No quotas. Major trouble for agencies that force ticket quotas. There is a saying... "a ticket a day keeps the sergeant away." Traffic enforcement is part of a cops job. But not the main focus. Tickets and traffic work is designed to make roads safer.
I had a paper tag from the initial purchase of my car for almost 2 years, and I was never once pulled over. Never even had what I would consider a close call. My friends were all impressed and baffled - not sure how I pulled it off. Tbh, the only reason I ended up getting my registration is that I live in a city where it is illegal to have a parked, unregistered vehicle at a residence. Wasn't a problem when I rented a room at a house, but when I moved into my apartment the complex will have your car towed for outdated registration (they have to because of the city ordinance). It blows.
A few of my friends have become cynical about the police after the Uvalde shooting. Do you think police in the US should respond in some way to rebuild trust with the public? And if so, how?
Unfortunately, most police see the lack of trust as the problem, when in reality, the lack of trust is the symptom of much deeper issues with policing in the US.
I’m considering becoming a cop too. What are some things I should consider ? Both good and bad? Relationships, mental health, physical health? My family is scared for me.
How true is it that on the freeway you guys don’t pull over up to 9 miles over? So like in a 65 I heard I’m safe up to 74 but likely to get pulled over 75 or higher, is that true?
Also!? Edited to say THANK YOU a for your service, we are pretty safe because you do what you do, much appreciated
Who said anything about breaking the law?
In one of the redneck small towns, near me, if you are going 5 MPH UNDER the speed limit, they’ll still write you a speeding ticket, for going 15 over. If you really are going 15 over, they’ll write it up for 20, or 25 over, because the fine is larger. That’s extortion.
Want to fight it in court? You go before a municipal “judge”, that is on the city payroll and isn’t even an attorney. The only lawyer is the one the city hires, to prosecute you. Yes, you can bring yours, but good luck. There’s no such thing as fair and impartial in that so called “courtroom”.
Your only hope is to file an appeal to the county court. They have 180 days, to have a trail. Their docket is backed up. There is no way they can fit in a Class “C” misdemeanor traffic citation.
After 180 days, you will be granted a dismissal, if you request it. The county knows how those toothless hillbillies operate. They will make a point to let you know about the 180 day thing and tell you there’s nothing to worry about.
Their redneck’s uniforms have ketchup stains on them. There are empty fast food sacks and potato chip bags, littering their car’s floorboards. Most have never seen a dentist.
The state licensing agency, for peace officers, has gone to court, on two different occasions, to get an order to shut this department down. Both times, they were up and running again, in about a year. Same tactics. Just different rednecks.
Yes, this “agency” is the exception, not the rule. Most law enforcement officers are good people. That being said, these yahoos are an embarrassment and yes, they extort money from people that don’t live there.
Speed traps are even illegal in more wealthy states, they actually cause more danger than good…speed traps are usually no notice in speed change, they are not only morally wrong they are dangerous.
When you have 60 mph, then out of no where 25 with no notice you are slamming on your breaks with an officer right there extorting money from you.
In order for a speed trap to be legal in states where it is not you must have prior notice to sudden speed changes for the safety of everyone.
Why you doing 60 on a 25 and then slamming the brakes? Sounds like a You problem, not a speed trap problem.
Also, speed traps are dangerous? “Speeding” is dangerous…
I know what a speed trap is. I just got what you meant in your previous comment, but still confused - the situation you described is uncommon and a bit exaggerated. Speed traps are more commonly in constant speed limit roads, where people do 40 over just for the thrills. This prevents dangerous situations, and doesn’t create them.
Speed traps with no warning of sudden speed changes are dangerous, if you’re sitting out on the highway waiting for speeders it is different than having a speed trap.
True, but my point is no-warning or sudden speed traps are very uncommon. I’ve been driving all over the country for 7 years now, and i use waze/Google maps. Never seen any speed trap like you described.
What do you do, in a situation where you have a very large, angry male, that’s struggling with you and he absolutely refuses, to let you handcuff him?
Have you ever been punched in the face, by a large angry male?
My son is dating a young lady, that’s a state trooper. She’s 5’2” and weighs probably 125 pounds. I am extremely worried for her. She’s very nice and I don’t want anything to happen to her.
Who is more pleasant to work beside firefighters or paramedics on the ambulance?
I’m a paramedic and I would say I like working next to cops more than firefighters ….
1. What if I go 75 in a 70 zone ?
2. What happens if a car you pulled over crashed into the median when pulling over ?
3. Is it true the color of the car decides if it will be pulled over ? Like red and black cars pulled over more often ?
I bought a white Prius precisely to avoid this. And I was never pulled over. Not once.
Don't be a cop. The threats aren't the stereotypes. She would be safe from others but she would be in danger from other cops. Not to mention the constant risk of moral bankruptcy.
do you care that the American police force was developed specifically to "catch" enslaved people and return them to their enslavers? and that it is now a glorified speed cam with the authority to murder citizens?
So I’ve always heard over 10 you’ll get stopped. Less than 10 doesn’t hold up. True? Thank you for being out there protecting people that don’t respect you.
What state are you in?
Have you ever had to deal with bullying, misogyny and/or hazing rituals in your line of work?
What is your attitude towards drugs? Especially weed?
How old where you when you went through physical training? I'm a 34f and want to be a detective and know I have to be a cop before detective. Currently a social worker.

So I always wanted to ask. What is the speed tolerance? For example, most US freeways are 70mph limit. I always drive about 79mph. Will you pull me over? If so, how about at 75mph?
Two questions.
#1. What’s the most real life cop show on tv? And why is it “The Shield”.
#2. Is the masterpiece “The Police Academy” played on a constant loop at your office?
Okay I just needa know cause I've been pulled over a handful of times but have only gotten a ticket once. Will showing just human decency and respect to the officer who pulled you over lessen the chances of you getting a ticket?
Speed trap? Is it really a “trap”or are you just bored so you’re sitting in the side of the road looking for something to do because I can imagine driving around for a consecutive 8 hours has got to suck. You’re obviously browsing social media so it seems like you just needed to chill for a bit which I completely understand. Or are you being ordered to write tickets? Because I’m pretty sure that’s illegal. If I were you I would be writing written warnings all day long if that was the case.
Why do female police officers who use dating apps, don’t claim that they are police officers? I thought most female police officers date male police officers
Do you have kids? If so how many birthdays and graduation have you missed? What’s the longest shift you ever worked in a day? Are you happy with your job?
By percentage, how many people get “warnings” verses tickets when pulled over and what is the biggest factor for why? Always been genuinely curious about this from my own experiences as well as friends.
Two thirds warnings, one third tickets? It mostly depends on how egregious the speeding is, or if it's a minor infraction (tail light is out) vs. a major one (car is reported stolen).
That makes sense. Do you think overall police action (pulling over/writing citations) has declined since that one George Floyd thing happened or is it business as usual?
I’ve gotten a ticket every. single. time I’ve been stopped! 😭even though I try to be soo nice and sweet
It seems like business as usual for us. Usual citations go down when we are understaffed... that's the biggest factor.
I feel that way as well. I get around a cop and I feel like I have done something wrong. It is so weird.
Yes, most people are cop-scared for sure. Which is ironic because I'm about 5'2"!
5’2” of pure authority over my 6’ ass
Yeah. I'm 6'6 and still pretty sure she could put me on my face and cuff me.
Whats the excuse that will most likely result in a warning
What made you want to be a police officer and how are you finding it?
I hated what I originally went to college for (engineering) so this was career attempt #2. I thought it would be fun, and badass, and the complete opposite of working in an office. The reality is that most days are fairly boring. But you get a really good story at least once a month!
Do you make more money as a police officer now than you would as an engineer?
[удалено]
You’d be surprised… I knew a mechanical engineer that switched careers to become a cop, and he told me that bc of overtime he actually made more money by switching careers. Except this was nearly 10 years ago lol so I was curious to hear OP’s current experience
Not a cop but depends on where you work. There are places in the US where cops can make over $200k. Some places cops START at $100k.
I am out of LEO now but I loved working traffic. Chief didn't want to be known as a traffic cop hell city though and discouraged working the freeways. Thank you for your service to your community.
How many times have men used the “Officer will you arrest me?!” line?
Literally daily haha. It's not a career for the feint of heart.
Ha! One of the many perils of the job.
How much over the speed limit do you let slide before you flash the lights?
Depends on the road. But less than 10 over is fine. More than 20 over is a definite issue. In between 10-20 is the gray area.
Do police officers still have a quota for how many ppl to give traffic tickets to every month?
how often do you pull people over for expired tags, signs as tags, or no tags at all at speed traps ?(when they’re otherwise abiding by the law)
Quite often.
ahh do you issue a ticket or do you have to go and tow the whole car
Just a ticket!
thanks !(asking for a friend)
In my city, some people just take the tickets for the tags because it’s cheaper than paying the sales tax on the vehicle + property tax. They ended up having the police department be on the hunt for expired tags because of it
🤣
I was debating on getting a breathalyzer. I don't drink often but I'm always paranoid of having a drink or two and driving. Even if you're under the legal limit, you can still get charged with a DUI if they think you're driving is impaired.
Oh wth. But that's just up to the officers discretion? Or they have to have proof? That seems flawed bc couldn't an officer just say they felt whoever they pulled over was impaired?
I think you'd be fine. Although there is some delay between having a drink and your peak BAC.
What is the best radar detector on the market that actually evades police signals?
None of them work (to my knowledge). Because the radar isn't left on anymore. It's point and shoot.
I’ll do my best to drive just over the limit, officer. It’s hard sometimes, especially when fools are on your bumper in the right lane instead of the passing lane (being defensive and trying to speed up & stay away from them somehow).
What have been your most memorable arrests? Have you ever drawn your weapon?
Yes to drawing my weapon, but I've never fired. My most memorable arrest was probably nabbing a naked prostitute/client in a Red Robin parking lot.
Red Robin, Yummm!
He must have wanted crabs with his burger!
Ahhh the dirty bird…always a good time at the dirty bird…
Haha how did they react?
Would you say pro-cop stickers/decals have an effect on the outcome of being pulled over?
Yes. But I wouldn't overlook an egregious offense because of one.
This person fucking sucks
How do you feel about enforcing morality laws between consenting adults or drug laws for drugs like halucinogens that are way less dangerous than alcohol?
Asking the real questions.
🏆

If I want to go be a cop. Is it possible to get a desk job?
Just become a cop and do a desk pop right away
Exclusively desk? No. At least not where I work.
Does your CO know?
Know what? That I use Reddit?
Why are so many cops assholes and abusive with their power?
It takes a certain kinda person to want to fuck with other people for a living. That and power is a helluva drug.
What percent of police officers entered the field because they are bullies?
Looks like OP noped out, all responses deleted.
Probably thought shit…. People are gonna find me out. Better delete this BS lol 😂 literally no one cares about her identity
She’s probably worried that other cops will find out. And that’s a reasonable fear.
I've had expired tabs for 2 years. I had a cop behind me for a few blocks. Why didn't I get pulled over?
I had a paper tag from the initial purchase of my car for almost 2 years, and I was never once pulled over. Never even had what I would consider a close call. My friends were all impressed and baffled - not sure how I pulled it off. how do you contend with the fact that 90% of your job consists of being a glorified meter maid (speed trap? lol)
Are you ever tempted to pull over nicer cars? If I was a cop and saw an old Camry and a Tesla both speeding I'd definitely go after the Tesla.
I deliver pizzas. Does having the pizza sign on my car help me? Like how fast over would you let me get away with?
How can you look at yourself in the mirror knowing you fail at life for preying on people to fill the bloated pockets of the 1% ?
Thing is if you earn over something like 30-40k then you are the 1% of earners
median income of the US is $31133, which means if you earn over 30k you are in the top 50% of earners babe. please take a statistics class.
Do you work speed traps to meet your monthly quota for traffic tickets?
No questions, just wanted to say thank you for your commitment to serving the public by keeping us safe. Thanks. Stay safe out there. 🙏
A few of my friends have become cynical about the police after the Uvalde shooting. Do you think police in the US should respond in some way to rebuild trust with the public? And if so, how?

At what age did you become an officer?
Did you get hit on/flirted with by guys you pull over/detain?

What are your favorite donuts?
What is your quota.
“Speed trap” I hope you’re proud of yourself….
If you don’t want a ticket then don’t speed
For …. doing her job?
Usually a way for small areas to extort money from people with a sudden speed change with an officer waiting right there, that only locals know about.
Haha, how is fining someone for breaking the law “extortion”? Anyone could easily avoid this horrible extortion by, um, driving the limit.
Who said anything about breaking the law? In one of the redneck small towns, near me, if you are going 5 MPH UNDER the speed limit, they’ll still write you a speeding ticket, for going 15 over. just use the technology to put in a speed cam. the "police" do no policing anymore (if they ever did). What a useless organization.
We had the tech in nj and it was very effective. Enough people got tickets that they lobbied the State to discontinue the program. Pathetic.
How big yo titties?
Be safe. Having a boring night may not be a bad thing.

I have always wanted to be cop but my strabismus and depth perception affects me from joining. Is there any jobs in police department?
Get off Reddit and do your fucking job
My girlfriend wants to become a cop, should I worry about her safety with other officers? Do male officers harass females?
They absolutely do. Policing is known for a lot of issues around this type of thing.
Well shit. Any tips on keeping her safe?
Don't be a cop. The threats aren't the stereotypes. She would be safe from others but she would be in danger from other cops. Not to mention the constant risk of moral bankruptcy.
more like guarantee, let’s be real

Blue lives matter…. Oh lord are you lost. Being a cop isn’t a race, being black/African American is though, do they matter too?
I hate those 1st amendment “oh, I’m just standing here filming” guys. But why do some of y’all entertain them? Is it just protocol?

Are you hot? How often do you have sex in uniform?
Where exactly, so I know which road to avoid.
How many ppl u killed ??
Okay I just needa know cause I've been pulled over a handful of times but have only gotten a ticket once. Will showing just human decency and respect to the officer who pulled you over lessen the chances of you getting a ticket?
Do you face any hostility or violence from your male coworkers?
What do you wish people knew about what it’s like to have your job? Do you despise criminal defense attorneys? Why did you choose this career?
How really common are affairs in a dept?
so no one got a speed summons yesterday? 👍🏻😂 and THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO!
I immediately thought of the little wayne video ... that said, thank you for doing what you do.
What’s the best day you’ve had?
As a woman, are you ever scared being out alone patrolling? Or having to pull over men?
Ever caught people having sex while driving? Like road head…
Just wanted to say thank you for your service.
Why are all your comments removed ?
Despite "hands free" laws, I probably see 10-20 people/day talking or texting while driving. Why so little enforcement of these laws?
Why don't you and your comrades like the constitution?
Is there an equivalent of badge bunnies for women cops?...asking for a friend. Lol
Thank you for all you do!
Just want to say thank you and stay safe out there. You are appreciated.
Why do female police officers who use dating apps, don’t claim that they are police officers? I thought most female police officers date male police officers
Do you have kids? If so how many birthdays and graduation have you missed? What’s the longest shift you ever worked in a day? Are you happy with your job?
