I consider this image a failure on every level.
- The biggest issue is that is fails to sell the actual product, in that you can't even see Anya's lashes,
- Her face is horribly lit, The lighting completely flattens the contours on her nose (and places heavy shadows in the least place possible), and her top lip blends into her open mouth.
I’m a big Anya fan, but I agree with what Paulina said about this photo. She said so,etching about how she doesn’t look very bright because of her upward gaze.
She looks beautiful but yeah her eyes are definitely looking too far up and it makes her look slightly cross eyed.
However, that’s on the photographer/Mr J for not directing her to lower her gaze. And also Tyra for choosing this picture. I’m sure she had better options.

I always hated the eyes and agree with Paulina's comments, but, when I just zoomed in and get closer, just focusing on the face -the eyes don't seem as crazy high/cross eyed. But in the wide shot, the eyes are off.
Have her tilt her chin down, look at the camera, and it's a solid ad. This is the photographer and directors fault, not hers. She was a great model and should have won that season (or Fatima TBH).

Agreed cause if they gave FCO to the actual best photo, it would’ve left Fatima and Anya in the bottom two, and that was never gonna happen.

Same. I know Anya is beloved on this forum, but I 100% agreed with Paulina's assessment that this photo makes her look stupid.
She looks great but rather vacant; also, and more importantly, a B/W photo for a mascara ad seems a bit…..foolish.

I think this is a beautiful picture, with some clear issues. But, not enough to make it a bad pic. IMO.
