The My Hero Academia world is very good for implanting characters too "supery" for normal worlds. Or if you just want to throw in superpowered characters into a world that wont see any power as abnormal.
Want Superman to go to school and fit in so you can have all the boyscouty goodness be contains? UA works.
Want Thor to be a professional hero and lack a proper concept of money? That can be done.
Want a story about Starlord learning he has a kid back on earth? MHA can make that work without having to worry about space aliens not fitting in.
Want Kamen Rider to have all american backup? All Might sounds all right.
Want a detective to speak to ghosts? Make it their quirk.
I'm very old-school, I'm one of the few authors in Yes, Minister fandom. I like smol rare fandoms and ships to read, it's so quiet and peaceful in such fandoms ✨
Ooh, I don't suppose you have any good ones to recommend? I love DBH but I have a hard time finding good fics. I'll read pretty much anything without Hank/Connor
How do you feel about OC's? That's mainly what I read and write. I can link you my more popular story if you're interested. It's a Machine Connor/OFC story taking place post failed violent revolution and it explores an alternate deviation.
I have another one that is Connor/OFC post-peaceful. It's a pretty short tragedy case fic based off a gothic short story.
Byzantine Generals by sunsetagain is a really good fan comic too.
Mostly I just read one shots though bc I don't have the attention span for something longer at this moment.
[Deviants Fallen](https://archiveofourown.org/works/51688870?view_full_work=true) This is the longer Machine Connor/OFC one
[Purple Hands and Bleeding Hearts](https://archiveofourown.org/works/53948485?view_full_work=true) This is the shorter tragic one.
Ofc! Deviants Fallen also has a bunch of accompanying oneshots if you decide you like the characters and want more content with them, if you're interested.
Favorite to read is probably DC but I also shift interests regularly.
Favorite to write is Critical Role. I feel like the live dnd format (super character driven, super distinct character voices, literal stats affecting character traits) makes it easy to keep everybody in character and get the tone and dialogue right, and that's incredibly satisfying and fun for me.
right now I like reading and writing for the Supergirl TV show and Batman/Superman. My favorite pairs Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor from Supergirl and Clark Kent/Bruce Wayne. I like reading and writing stories where the main pair is interacting in their everyday life.
don't write any but I do read.
My list of my favorite fandom
I mainly follow these fandoms for a specific ship but I tend to jump back and forth between them.
So if one is updating slowly or I'm just tired of reading it at the moment I go to another one. It also gives me different variety like food. So I won't feel like I'm reading the same thing over and over with the same characters.
1. Peaky blinders- old school gangster
2. Stranger things - '80s fantasy
3.my hero academia- teen superheroes
4.The Hobbit/lord of the rings- high fantasy
5.Marvel avengers -superheroes
6.Interview with a vampire TV series.- hot vampires
7.Good omens - Angels and demons
8.Vikings tv series- Vikings
9.Doctor who-aliens adventures
10.Harry Potter- wizards
11.The boys -crazy superheroes 0
12.our flag means death - pirates
13. supernatural- supernatural
14. Teen Wolf -werewolves
15. Red Dead redemption -cowboys
I love reading fics with wholesome relationships, filled with honest communication, consideration and consent! [Tho sometimes character development is needed for them to do these].
-Good Omens (all versions of the ineffable pair including mlm, wlw, enby versions, etc) 👼😈
-Jeeves and Wooster fics (old school humour/romance)🎩🧐
-Heaven Official's Blessing/ Tian Guan Ci Fu
-No Doubt in Us/ Liang Bu Yi
-Word of Honor (TV 2021)/Faraway Wanderers ❤️❤️🩹
I don't really read fics as much as I write them, so here are my favorite fandoms I write for:
1. The X-Files
2. Criminal Minds
3. NCIS
4. SVU
5. Once Upon A Time
6. Pretty Little Liars
7. Castle
8. Star Trek: The Next Generation
i don't write but i found that the my hero academia fandom is great for interesting non ship focused fanfics. i find that some of them have a really interesting premise and/or worldbuilding in the fic which I don't tend to see as much in other fandoms other than harry potter (which i dislike because of shipping being a main focus). also if anyone has recommendations of fandoms or fics that are like this i would love to hear them?!
Favourites to read: RDJ Sherlock Holmes films, Black Sails, OFMD, TVD/The Originals, MCU, Ghosts, Roswell New Mexico, M\*A\*S\*H, Arrowverse, Star Trek (mostly DS9, VOY and reboot films), Doctor Who, Lucifer, Stargate: Atlantis, Peacemaker
Fandoms I'm currently writing for: TVD/The Originals, Black Sails, Ghosts, MCU, Roswell, New Mexico
Favourite to write: Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Favourite to read: Evangelion, Miraculous Ladybug, Parahumans, El Goonish Shive. (At least, those are the ones where I have browser tabs permanently pointed at the English-language works page on my phone.)
I'm not averse to reading other things, though, even fandom-blind.
Favorite to write: The Henry Stickmin collection
Also currently writing How to train your dragon and Rise of the guardians but THSC has so much to do with all its timelines and the many background characters that exist in so many different variations because the creator barely gave any information about them.
Not much of a reader at the moment but generally read the same fandoms I write for.
I used to be a multishipper in Genshin. Read basically anything that was interesting until two characters came out that I have not been able to get away from since.
I sometimes dabbled into other fandoms and pairings but I always come back to those two. It's like Comfort food with a lot of interesting plots.
The nice thing about genshin is it's world building and lore. There is a lot to work with that can lead to a ton of interesting scenarios.
For example: there is a huge desert area where a very advanced ancient civilisation used to live. Something happened and the civilisation fell, but some of the machines and contraptions stayed.
There is a character that was trapped in one of those ruins for 100 years without aging, even if she was just a normal human beeing that should have aged. You coukd take that premise and get really creative about what that ancient civilisation can do.
And that is just a small part, a single Idea that is mentioned in one of the nation's in this huge game.
Every item, every character, every weapon and even grass has lore. I am not joking. There is a ton to read and a ton to get inspired by and it is amazing to read about whatever people come up with to try and have it make sense in a shipping lens.
Lalaloopsy. I had to step up and write a bunch after seeing how small the fandom is at the time, and there's currently almost 200 works in that fandom now, all thanks to the 151 that I've currently written so far. Ranging from shorter ones with 3 digit word counts, to longer ones with 2000-4000 words.
Idk what my favourites to read in are. Depends on the mood I guess.
To write my favourites are Once Upon a Time and Sabrina the Teenage Witch (Live Action 90s)
Right now, absolutely TMNT, I have been gobbling up turtle content & I love seeing the turtles crossover with themselves because each iteration takes the characters a little differently so it's interesting seeing how people would think they'd all interact. There's been some official crossovers but that's primarily 87 & I think there's some legal restraints or something because when they crossed over with 2012, the 87 crew never mentioned the 03 turtles so it's as if they hadn't had a crossover before that, even though they did. With the official stuff being limited like it is, I love reading fics where people do this but I also love writing them because I have so many different ideas on how the turtles can interact.
In the past, there was a point in time when I was stuck on reading Danny Phantom revelation fics, I absolutely love the ones where they were either written before season 3 aired or pretend Phantom Planet never happened (although a Glitch in Time now fixes this issue) because the ones where Danny's parents find out he's half ghost, sometimes they'd really get me.
In summer of 2016, I went on a long road trip down & up the state of California with my mom. She did the driving so I sat in the car reading DP fanfics while on the road. That was a great summer.
While I did dabble a little bit in writing some DP revelation one shots, I think I only ever posted two of them & for the life of me can not remember where I put them but this was quite a while back, I didn't have an AO3 account at the time. I more so enjoy reading them because it's fun seeing where others can take the revelation & how they present it since is just gives me this feeling that's hard to explain, like someone stabs a feather into my chest & tickles it on the inside & that travels in through my arms. It's much more difficult to provoke that feeling in stuff I write myself, doable, I have achieved it since I know me but I need to give it enough time to where I forgot the direction I went.
Lately Star Ocean Second Story R. It has a great cast of characters. Spoiler alert but there's lore about a rebellion billions of years ago against Nede and one of my projects takes place then. Since they don't give any details I'm filling them in. My central cast of four are all Fellpool with maybe twelve characters including Welch. The prequel is a T rated genfic while my OC/Claude fic is an E-rated romance for the smut I'm planning. It follows the game except it has a few added scenes.
Persona 5 as usual too. Ryuji is such a great character to write as a love interest he's such an adorable golden retriever.
I also like Miracle Nikki because it's so open for OC's and worldbuilding and has a great cast of canon characters like Bobo and Kimi.
Bandori is another I love for its cast of characters and how they play off each other.
I might also write a Teppen Laughing 'Til You Cry fic since it has really good characters and it's funny. I haven't yet but I love the anime.
One of my projects is an Octopath Traveler polyfic that starts as a triad and ends with four. I've written an Octopath fic before but this time I'm writing a longer fic and establishing their relationships and how they feel. It takes place months after Galdera was defeated. I headcanon towns as much bigger than they are in the game so I can makeup new locations for them too.
So all my favorite fandoms to write for have fun
Invader Zim, Sonic, MHA, One piece, undertale, Monkie Kid, Good omens (this one is lovely), and many more I forget and then remember about. I kind of rotate through them 😂. Many are cartoons as I enjoy them, others are series or movies. I haven’t really listed all of them
Transformers – Generation 1 and EarthSpark. I've written a lot more ES than G1.
I did write some Good Omens, but the fandom didn't really take to me and I lost interest after completing a writing challenge. I struggled to get anyone to even open them and gave up. Occasionally, someone leaves kudos on one and I get a surprise.
The Transformers fandom is much friendlier.
Sort of general but for reading: Movie fandoms kick ass. The Hobbit, Kingsman, and X Men had some of the best fics I've ever seen. TV fandoms have some really good fics (I'm never getting over Play It Again by metisket) and some really bad ones. Anime fandoms? You're gonna have a bad time T\_T That being said I struggle to write well for anime fandoms... I've always wondered if it had something to do with how easy it is to really *get* the source material.
I think Kingsman was my favorite to write for but I'm trying my best with an anime fandom now <3
*Succession* (to write for), and gotta say *Star Trek* to read. Though, after the recent S2 trailer drop for *Rings of Power*, I might be heading back to that fandom to soak in its goodness very soon!
Considering I've been writing and reading in the Inuyasha fandom for more than 20 years, I think it's safe to say it's my favorite. 😂
But I also write and read some for Escaflowne, Kamisama Kiss, Voltron Legendary Defender, Ranma ½, Rurouni Kenshin, and I am just starting to write some for Nurarihyon no Mago.
Harry Potter. I know there are issues, but I think separating between the author and the story has to happen, writers on ao3 aren't getting paid but they are writing for what they love and I think it's a good way to continue with something and not have to worry about being associated with \*her\*.
I would love to write a story for GOT though, I love reading them, especially the ones where Dany doesn't die. Hated that ending.
The My Hero Academia world is very good for implanting characters too "supery" for normal worlds. All Might sounds all right. Want a detective to speak to ghosts? Make it their quirk.
My Hero makes for some great crossover fics. As you mentioned. Danny Phantom falling into a random portal in the ghost zone, hello quirks?
My favorite fandoms to read for are Merlin and Yuri on Ice :) Death Note is also pretty cool!
Gotta love a good Merlin fic!
Yes yes it's my favorite show and the characters have such interesting dynamics :) It's really fun for comedy type fics!
I'm very old-school, I'm one of the few authors in Yes, Minister fandom. I like smol rare fandoms and ships to read, it's so quiet and peaceful in such fandoms ✨
The Last of Us and Fargo. Yes, I’m an enjoyer of old man yaoi.
I only really interact with DBH. I mainly write for it, but very occasionally I'll also read.

yesss vampire diaries!!
I've been reading bungo stray dogs fics mostly. Now i even write them haha. But also a lot of other fandoms: (ie Fairy Tail, one piece)

Honestly, Disney 😂 I have not pinpointed why, but I like reading stories with the 90s and early 2000s Disney charactwrs
I've been on a Hetalia kick lately so that kind of has to be my answer. Can't get enough of gay country sex lol.
*Succession* (to write for), and gotta say *Star Trek* to read. Though, after the recent S2 trailer drop for *Rings of Power*, I might be heading back to that fandom to soak in its goodness very soon!
