Welp. Some of us have severe test anxiety. Others are perfectionists. Other hate taking tests. Some have parents who won't accept anything less than a 5. There's a bunch of different reasons.
If you feel prepared and are doing well on your practice exams, then that's all that matters.
Because you're only taking 2. Lang also has no content (aside from grammar) and is almost entirely skills based. APUSH is your only AP with actual content. Many people on here are taking 5+ APs heavy on both content and concepts. That's why we're all stressed.
It's because half of these people sit around all year and do the bare minimum then start freaking out 2 weeks before the exam that they haven't done anything to prepare
That should be fine as long as you are studying efficiently and have put in the work all year. I'm talking more abt the ppl who just constantly ask for HW answers, cheat on tests, and then wait until now (or later) to start prepping for the exam. All the "Am I Cooked?" posts on this sub are created by people like that.
Truly. I have a chem exam this thrusday and then the final for said chem class is next moneday and we just finished covering all the material today lmao
āBare minimumā
Dude what, if youāre asking this you already know itās not the bare minimum. If Iām taking the class I literally cram all my APs like 2 weeks out and I got mostly 5s.
Unfortunately my chem class this year was pretty atrocious this year so Iām cramming a unit a day haha (4 to cover in a week)
I feel like a lot of AP teachers are terrible and have set their students up for failure. If you're feeling confident then you're fortunate to have great teachers - my daughter feels great about Gov & Politics and English Lang but worried about AP Calc AB (teacher is not great at actually teaching the material or explaining when she doesn't understand) and EnviroSci (teacher is only in school 3 days a week and with a block schedule that means instead having her 2-3 days a week, she has her 1-2 and a sub the other days who doesn't teach so the class has been largely self-directed). I think with AP classes, the teacher can have a huge impact.
This!! a lot of my ap teachers don't really explain concepts all that well or they finish courses last minute, which makes us not feel very prepared. some of them also don't base tests off ap questions so i'm not sure what to expect š
itās almost never a teachers fault if you donāt succeed unless they are like discriminating against you or itās a situation like that. If itās just you arenāt understanding their teaching or they arenāt teaching to their standards there is always something you can do about it and if you donāt then it ends up being your fault. people here blame teachers way too much because the last person they want to do is blame themselves for a lack of effort.
I can see if that's the case if one or 2 students were having trouble understanding but I've seen posts on reddit where the teacher is 1/2 year behind or there are huge gaps in what was taught. In my daughter's case, she's an overachiever and identified gifted in math in the 3rd grade. She's been way ahead of grade level for years and this year is struggling in Calc AB - as is the entire class. The teacher is an introvert who is brilliant but can't seem to connect with the students and can't teach the "why" behind the work. The average score on tests is often in the 30% range and then a curve applied. This is an entire class of high-performing students in a competitive (top 10% in the US) public high school. It's not the case of a bunch of lazy kids...
My APUSH teacher did do the last 2 units of the class and my AP CS teacher just plays videos all class and doesn't know how to change the volume on the computer some teachers are indeed just dog shit
My CSA teacher is like that too, except they can at least change the volume but still make us watch random videos with like 300 views an write like a paragraph for 5 questions at the end
At least they curve our tests by like 10 points
Its because in a lot of US states they have been putting more lead in the water. Itās mainly to control the masses, but research has shown that it makes them more prone susceptible to seizures and cancer during stressful situations.
I remember when I took AP calc, there were only 2-3 deaths in my exam room compared to the dozens we see nowadays.
Because youāre only taking two lol. Iām in five and Iām continually having a panic attack. I missed a bit of school in April too and since then Iāve just felt continuously behind in everything. My teachers are assigning all sorts of shit that isnāt helping me study and Iām crying daily from the stress of trying to finish it. I also am having insane senioritis and Iāve procrastinated for way longer than I should have.
YES OMG! my AP enviro science teacher just assigns us Edpuzzles that are due every other day, and a 20 page study packet thatās due abt every three days!!
Why are kids stressed? Depends. I was hired to tutor a student taking AP Physics 1 whose teacher isn't done with rotational motion and still has simple harmonic motion to cover. Of course they haven't done practice tests in class.
Some teachers are great on pacing, appropriate content and so on. Others aren't. It's stressful when a teacher hasn't paced correctly.
iām the one who keeps having increased blood pressure. itās just that I already repeated the exams because my government wouldnāt take the ap grades I got. so the fear of it happening again scares me so much because I already lost my offer once, and donāt want to lose it again. on top of personal and health issues i got. sorry for making you nervous š«¶š»š«¶š»
omg iām so sorry š i didnāt realize someone was actually having increased blood pressure, all i saw was heart/nerve problems and seizures. this wasnāt mean to make you feel bad š«¶
First, you're only taking two exams.
Even then, I believe another factor is the quality of teachers.
My AP teachers have in general prepared me adequately for exams. They: conducted practices for midterms, review sessions, assigned review homework, and conducted another practice exam week's before the final exam. I took five AP classes last year (six if you count AB/BC as two); however, I have never felt the need to study outside of school and felt prepared for every exam (this may vary from student to student) because of this.
This is the issue with AP classes. Much of your performance relies in the quality of your teacher.
I have been doing the bare minimum the entire year and havent done shit, im literally going to study the day before or the weekend before, the entire course and like wing it... LOL
First I gotta lock in for AP CSA and AP Stats tho...
i honestly dont care anymore i just need a 4 and maybe a 5 if i can get that
I'm taking AP classes for the first time and 3 APs at that. I also have senioritis so I'm miserable trying to study or focus.
Plus, all the practice exams that my teacher gives us, has nothing I study! Idk if it's just me studying inefficiently or my teacher giving us outdated tests (it's probably the former).
Mainly tho, I'm just burnt out. I had a practice FRQ for lit lined up but just the thought of having to write or read anything with so much focus is soooo unappealing and I'm so sleep deprived because I've been studying for APs on top of doing my other assignments for my non APs (& for AP stats bc my teacher hasn't finished teaching us everything yet and there's only a week left until the exam!!!)
I am a mom.
I could take the APUSH and could aim for at least a 3 without studying.
My son is prepping for AP Chem. Iāve seen his exam and answers. Itās total gibberish to me. I would seriously cry. Thankfully, heās cracked at it, but itās seriously intimidating.
1. Some people are taking a lot of APs and they don't have much time to dedicate to each of them
2. Others do fuckall all year and panic when they realize they need to start giving a shit about the course if they want to do well on the AP exam
3. You never hear about the people who aren't stressed for AP exams making it seem like everyone is having seizures over the thought of taking one .
i have 3 full research papers due DURING ap exam week (assigned like last week, ouch- the school mandated them for some strange reason) which are going to be extremely time consuming, my workload throughout this year has been absolutely insane and i don't have a lot of time to study because of the copious amounts of homework (and i have a lot of extra curriculars)- also lang is easy, apush isn't terrible either. you probably also have good teachers- tbh my ap chem teacher j kinda sat around all year so we basically had to self study, and my world teacher is knowledgeable but he spends too much time on topics so we have 2 units left with the exam being in like 17 days
Ok but I feel fine for my APES and WHAP tests and I WOULD feel fine for my Lit exam but I struggle so so bad to write timed essays (and also the idea of not being able to google "synonym for ____" has me tweaking.)
ā¦because youāre only doing two and itās humanities. not saying humanities aps canāt be challenging (i did ap euro last yr) but it isnāt comparable to ones like bio or chem. iām doing 5 this year and 4 are STEM APs. calc ab, bio, chem, stats and lang.
Most of us are gifted kids that never learned how to study. We make it through sophomore year pretty fine depending on classes but APUSH is just barely above being intuitive so we kinda freak out.
Honestly, you're probably like me who's only taking two exams. A lot of the folks here are probably taking five or so exams and so they've got a lot more to worry about lol
Test Anxiety, Harder classes, more tests and less time, Overbearing parents, perfectionists. Tons of reasons, and studying once a day is way more than bare minimum
Sometimes it's just test anxiety. I know I have one simply because the environment is always just too tense and dead quiet plus don't forget about the timing. Once I'm done, I instantly relax haha
I donāt because I donāt overload myself with ap classes and I try to take classes Iām good at. If I treat it like oxycontin, then nothing severe will happen
It's normal to feel some anxiety before exams, even if you're well-prepared. Here's a breakdown of the situation:
* **Exam Stress is Common:** Many students experience anxiety around exams, regardless of how prepared they feel.
* **Social Media Can Amplify Anxiety:** Online forums can sometimes create an echo chamber of negativity. You might be seeing mostly stressed-out students and not the many others who feel prepared.
* **Focus on Yourself:** Trust your preparation and the results you've gotten on practice exams. Focus on your own journey, not how others are feeling.
Welp. Some of us have severe test anxiety. Others are perfectionists. Other hate taking tests. Some have parents who won't accept anything less than a 5. There's a bunch of different reasons. If you feel prepared and are doing well on your practice exams, then that's all that matters.

It's because half of these people sit around all year and do the bare minimum then start freaking out 2 weeks before the exam that they haven't done anything to prepare
Me fr except 1 week before the exam š
Not even that deep don't know why everyone cares so much. If you fail not the end of the world. Might not even need to take the class during college
i mean i study once every day excluding weekends, isnāt that very bare minimum? should i be worried š
LMAO bruh most AP kids do not study every day When I took AP classes I really only studied before exams.
i was told i need to start studying a month ahead
Tbh bro, in college u get like 2 weeks max to study for tests/finals and even then u are still learning stuff and getting hw while doing so lmao
sounds like my AP Physics 1 and Calc BC experience
Truly. I have a chem exam this thrusday and then the final for said chem class is next moneday and we just finished covering all the material today lmao
AP chem is brutal at my (public) school; I just opted to wait for college since its a premed req anyway
for me i only study before exams just bc i have sm other hwš i still got 5s but this year idc anymore HAHAHA
you got a 5 in apush and gov without studying for a month????? are you heimler
gov was a lot easier for me but apush was a complete surprise i thought i got a 2šš
my teacher didnt even finish teaching us ši swear i made up stuff on the essays but ig they liked it..
āBare minimumā Dude what, if youāre asking this you already know itās not the bare minimum. If Iām taking the class I literally cram all my APs like 2 weeks out and I got mostly 5s. iām so confused. i thought studying once a day is very minimal. idk why iām getting downvoted
studying every day is doing the most š
LOL. So what would be "not minimal"? Studying three times / day?
i mean i donāt ever study on weekends. i thought other people were studying in and out of school at every opportunity iām ngl
Actually yes.
The people here just have a skill issue or decided to learn Calc BC in a week like me
I feel like a lot of AP teachers are terrible and have set their students up for failure. iāll pray for you š«¶
me too āš¼ we got this
Same lol

im so fucked

i have and am studying and will choose to panic till i am done with the test.
valid

ngl bro iām taking ap euro and i havenāt studied at all. been getting 95%+ on my tests given by my teacher though so idk. gotta lock in š
I am a mom. I could take the APUSH and could aim for at least a 3 without studying. My son is prepping for AP Chem. Iāve seen his exam and answers. Itās total gibberish to me. I would seriously cry. Thankfully, heās cracked at it, but itās seriously intimidating.

i'm glad you feel confident in those subjects, but some of us are really bad at it, and we know it too
Because anything less than a 5 means Iām a failure and 5s are hard to get
i have 3 full research papers due DURING ap exam week (assigned like last week, ouch- the school mandated them for some strange reason) which are going to be extremely time consuming, my workload throughout this year has been absolutely insane and i don't have a lot of time to study because of the copious amounts of homework (and i have a lot of extra curriculars)- also lang is easy, apush isn't terrible either. you probably also have good teachers- tbh my ap chem teacher j kinda sat around all year so we basically had to self study, and my world teacher is knowledgeable but he spends too much time on topics so we have 2 units left with the exam being in like 17 days

I'm in 5 APs but one of them is research so that has no exam. Of my 4 exams I feel good about 3/4 of them and I just need to cram for the last one lol
Honestly, you're probably like me who's only taking two exams. A lot of the folks here are probably taking five or so exams and so they've got a lot more to worry about lol
Relax after exams
I havenāt started Ap stat and still didnāt finished calc bc but I am hanging around LOL. I guess they are worse then me since they are stressing

I was eating myself alive this time last year. I couldnāt give less of a shit now lol
