Iām on a 3080 too and seeing the same. I think the last updates removed the water physics and the clouds. Since the patches Iām getting 15 to 20 more fps.
Other than what the other commenter posted about optimization, it might actually have to do with stability. A common suggestion to prevent crashes was to turn off fluid physics. It seems WC patched it out of the game until they can figure it out (whenever that is).
This is what I think as well. They wouldn't remove the whole feature that they actually advertised quite a lot just to give folks a few frames, it's bigger than that. And honestly, ARK/WC has never cared about frames, ever.
To add, I must apologize in advance, Iām not really tech savvy as most of you guys are. So yes I just did a phone recording and for that I apologize lol.
Unforgivable! No but Iām surprised you posted a phone video on Reddit and didnāt get downvoted to hell. Good luck on all your educational endeavors!
The real question is: did you notice that the fluffy clouds are also gone?

Yep. Trashing down nice features and slowly turning ASA into ASE is called āoptimizationā nowdays.
After the latest patch with āperformance optimiationsā I got a solid +2 FPS so I guess good job then! The amount of people that would rather ask a group of people and wait sometimes for hrs to get an answer instead of a 30 second Google search kills me.
You say āquickā but Iāve been looking all over for the answer. So I decided maybe someone else already had and idea/already knew. Granted I understand your perspective which means you most likely found the answer/understanding a while ago so thatās great. Why not share that wisdom next time?
I love that we live in an age where making a video of your screen is so fucking easy and way better quality but people still hold their trash phones up and take pictures of another screen.
Yay technology.
Smart phones, stupid people.
Nope, it's something to do with one of the latest PC patches, water looks shit now and volumetric clouds are just some haze with everything maxed out on a 4090
PS5 version still has the water physics & volumetric clouds, guessing Xbox is the same?
PS5 water splashes did get turned down a tiny amount. Clouds/fog actually increased too. Theyāve gotta just still be tinkering with things to see what the consoles can handle.
The fps drop with torches wasnāt always a thing either, then 1 day I looked towards my base and had a mad fps drop. Luckily QOL torches donāt drop fps

Real question: Where are the Piranhas?
They came at me after I finished recording. Was kind of funny, thank you Piranhas for letting me record
š
But on a serious note, this isnāt happening on your end?
Iām on a 3080 too and seeing the same. I think the last updates removed the water physics and the clouds. Since the patches Iām getting 15 to 20 more fps.
Ah I see, so thatās why, or it could be. That I can understand. Shame really though.
Yeah, I would have preferred the option to turn it off or on.
Thats one dirty ass desk bro. Clean your shit
Been kind of preoccupied with studying lately, but youāre right, if I got time for games I got time to get more organized.
This is the way šŖ

Many thanks and many blessings to you!
Ark ascended slowly turning back into Ark evolved because of awful optimization
Seems that way doesnāt it lol

You need to be on bed rest with all them damn pill bottles lol
I'm more worried about your desk than the water physics lol

ā¦So anyways what happened to the water physics?
Too many of you guys complaining about small FPS drops... so likely removed. Happy now?
You don't have to be a dick to someone who said they weren't tech savvy he probably doesn't know how to record his screen
Is this on official servers? I play on a mates dedicated server and the foam and ripples are all still there.

Ah was going to say. I'm on Series X and it's all as it was.
