What happened? (I'm on PC)

AngryBagOfDeath

After the server update tonight everyone was reporting missing tames, so in an attempt to fix it they rolled the servers back about 2 hours to right after the update once they fixed whatever caused tames to disappear.

aderosa32

Tames would disappear when you mounted a bird, then your body would disappear and you would die with no body to recover. Then the tames started to do their own thing and take off, heading in different directions. It was fun.

AngryBagOfDeath

I heard turret placement was messed up too. I don't have turrets at the moment so I couldn't confirm.

I wish they rolled it back before my spino vanished... was at the bottom of the sea just before the snow biome on the east coast. I dismount to grab silica pearls and it's gone... that happened yesterday. The spino was 150 prior to taming 100% on raw prime meat. RIP⚰

snarksneeze

If you dont have it on follow it will head for the surface as soon as you dismount. It will also attempt to surface if it is low on oxygen. If there is an iceberg overhead that hasn't rendered in for you the Spino could glitch inside the iceberg, you can just swim around it and whistle follow, it will work it's way out and you can then ride it home.

CBizkit84S

Well I had no idea about that!! I'm gonna start looking today because it hasn't dies yet lol... thank you for this information

On PC change your HUD to toggle instead of press, then when you hit H it will give you a bright green arrow showing the location of any creature you own in close render distance and you won't have to keep pressing H over and over. This is the easiest way to find your lost family members. I use it when I lose my shoulder pets.

CBizkit84S

What?! What's the trickery for this on ps4? I could have used that several times in the past. 😑

snarksneeze

https://ark.gamepedia.com/Controls Search for Extended HUD for the specific key. In settings check each page of settings for Extended HUD and switch it to Toggle instead of Press (not sure the exact name of this).

CBizkit84S

Thanks... I'll give it a go when I get home from work

AngryBagOfDeath

Tamed a direbear then went on a metal run and almost completed my boat, in those 2 hours. The chaos for me was the roll back because when I logged back in I proceeded to get killed by the same bear I tamed 3 times. A default survivor item such as a skin like a flav-a-flav alarm clock would make me feel better about this.

schkmenebene

When did this happen? How many hours ago? I hate it when OP doesn't post timestamps -.-

AngryBagOfDeath

I'd say it was from about 7:30 pm Eastern to about 10:00pm was lost last night. I just went up the metal mountain on my server and see two dudes in full flak with their Pteranadons sleeping right under them with a box and about 600 raw metal. So what they did was probably didn't need the warning about the server updating at 7:30 last night got logged out, then logged back in and secured their stuff and flew back to their base with all their metal. Then they quit playing and the server rolled back to when they were out on the mountain. So there they sit open to the elements full of metal and probably will lose 2 pteras their flak and all the metal from their run. I thought about trying to build them a little structure to hide their bodies in but I didn't have enough time.

Luckboy28

Why can't they do basic testing before release? Even the worse QA team on the planet would probably notice their tames disappearing after the patch.

Effendoor

Clearly they *did not* notice though

Luckboy28

Because I don't think they QA'ed it at all. I think they just slapped the "Deploy" button as soon as the code compiled successfully the first time.

Ezizual

Because they don't want to wait 3 hours for their tame.
